The University of Oxford is searching for a Development Executive that will raise vital philanthropic support for priority areas of research in the Medical Sciences Division.

It also has world-leading research programmes in cardiovascular diseases, musculoskeletal disorders such as arthritis and osteoporosis and neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

What this role entails?

The Medical Sciences Divisional development team works collaboratively with colleagues across the Division and across the Development and Alumni Engagement team at the University of Oxford.

This is a key role within the team and the post holder will have the opportunity to work with donors and academics. Development at Oxford is well established and this role has the scope to work across a number of important and high-profile projects related to the medical sciences.

The post holder will manage a portfolio of more than 100 major gifts prospects. They will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of potential donors able to support projects in the Medical Sciences Division at Oxford, typically in the range of £100,000-£500,000 over time, alongside to supporting the fundraising activity of the Head of Development – Medical Sciences.

To be successful in this role:

• Proven fundraising experience in a complex organisation and direct involvement in securing major gifts at the £50,000 level and above
• Ability to identify new donor prospects and engage with potential donors to successfully acquire new gifts
• Ability to think both strategically and tactically about the relations between potential donors and fund-raising goals
• Ability to establish credibility, confidence and robust relationships with existing and prospective donors, and key stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• An interest in the medical sciences
• An interest in higher education and ideally an understanding of the University of Oxford, and its goals in teaching and research

Overview of post

• To organise and develop the London Specialist Advice Forum with the Senior Programme Manager.
• To identify emerging issues that affect forum members and liaise with the forum members, the steering group, and external legal and non-legal organisations to discuss potential solutions.
• To identify and report pilot projects that emerge from needs identified through forum members.
• To identify emerging issues that affect specialist legal advice providers and support relationships with the key external strategic and policy organisations to raise these issues.
• To ensure that the work of funded partners is communicated to a broad audience through generating content for newsletters, our web site and online presence.
• To provide support to the Sector Support and Grants team in the running and development of other sector support schemes such as money saving initiatives, funding programmes, and others.
• To assist with the recruitment and management of volunteers.

The Senior Programmes Manager will work with the Head of Sector Support and Grants and the CEO to develop and deliver our sector support programmes, including our flagship grants programme that aims to help sustain free legal advice agencies.This role will oversee the development and delivery of our exciting partnerships with other funders and advice sector organisations to support the advice sector. The role will oversee various funded programmes including the development and delivery of our Funder Plus offering.

About the role

It’s been an exciting year for the CoppaFeel! Marketing team; we’ve had a brand refresh, onboarded new agencies, launched award winning campaigns and grown a partnership with Love Island. And it’s all been in the name of our mission; to ensure all breast cancers are diagnosed early and accurately in young people.

We are looking for an exceptional Head of Content who will be responsible for the management, production and strategic placement of all organic content across CoppaFeel!’s channels. You will help shape CoppaFeel!’s approach to content so that it appeals, resonates with and converts 18 - 24 year olds across digital and social channels.

You will work alongside other Heads of Dept, bringing your expertise and knowledge to leadership discussions to help shape the future of the organisation.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office 2 days per week. You will be required to attend the office for quarterly team meetings, department meetings and in person training, we will provide plenty of notice for when you are required to be in for these purposes.

You will report to the Marketing Director and line manage the Social Manager and Digital Marketing Manager, and you will have exposure to the Senior Management Team.

The role

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work as a valued part of the CoppaFeel! leadership team to deliver the organisational strategy, shape the culture and influence cross departmental ways of working
• Develop a holistic, strategic content approach to digital and social channels (including creators and gaming) that will enhance the annual marketing strategy and drive awareness of CoppaFeel! and our mission amongst 18 - 24 year olds.
• Responsible for creating innovative content that’s insight driven and market leading.
• Put production plans and processes in place that allow us to have year round ‘always on’ organic content (web, email, social).
• Lead and inspire creativity across the organisation with a view to becoming social first in everything we do.
• Work with Digital Marketing Manager to audit CoppaFeel!’s website and third party agencies to research, plan and execute Search Engine Optimisation strategies.
• Establish standards, systems, best practices, and workflow processes for managing the content lifecycle, including requesting, producing, distributing, channel selection, measuring, and retiring content.
• Collaborate with our operations team as we adopt a new CRM database.
• Ensure all content is consistent with brand guidelines and tone of voice.
• Line manage the Social Media Manager and Digital Marketing Manager.
• Ownership of the digital budget and quarterly re-forecasting.
• Contribute to quarterly all staff team meetings
• Ensure rigorous reporting and analysis of social and digital activity to ensure delivery of planned KPIs, with an ambition to be constantly improving and evolving.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Minimum 5 years experience working in a management level content focused role.
• Demonstrable experience of implementing strategic content plans.
• Knowledge and passion for all things digital and social.
• Line management experience.
• A leader with the ability to develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team to achieve high standards.
• The ability to manage senior stakeholders expectations and cross-departmental content requests.
• An understanding of CoppaFeel!’s 18-24 year old target audience and platforms to reach them.
• Excellent understanding of the ever changing digital landscape, and how tools/AI can help enhance our work.
• Experience developing and managing strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Budget management.
• Experienced in tracking and reporting on campaign success against KPIs and ROI.

Desirable

• Knowledge of the challenges / limitations of working in the charity sector.
• Experience of working for a youth focused brand or charity.
• Experience of managing gaming activations.

We are looking to recruit HOPELINE247 Advisors to provide individually tailored suicide prevention advice and guidance to young people and those who are concerned for them via our national multi-channel helpline HOPELINE247 and deliver suicide prevention training online and in community settings across the UK.

What you will do:

Work as part of a team providing suicide prevention support to a range of clients via multichannel communication        platforms.

Work on a 7-day shift system including evening and weekends

Use professional judgement to assess the needs of the service users who present with risk to life and manage and report any matters related to safeguarding. 

Maintain accurate records and input data monitoring into the data base system.

Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practise. 

Provide training, mentoring and coaching to new recruits.

To be successful in this role you will have:

a degree or professional qualification in Health or Social Care, Community Work or a related discipline

previous experience of working in an advisory capacity in suicide prevention or mental health

a proven record of working directly with vulnerable young people

experience of providing advice and guidance via multiple communication channels

the ability to empathise, support and build rapport with suicidal people and those who care about them, remaining non-judgemental and adhering to the remit of the service

Salary: NALC Scale SCP 24-28 (Starting salary of £27,520 per annum based on working 30 hours per week progressing incrementally to £30,540 per annum)

Hours:  30 hours per week over 4 days as part of a team that work 7.5 hour shifts between 07:30am and 22:30.
