About us
Who we are
We’re a not-for-profit with one goal: to create movements that are progressive, hopeful and powerful, to inspire people to act on the most pressing issues of our time.
We see the world as it is – rife with inequality, environmental neglect and elitist politics.
Never in our lifetime has the future felt so insecure. But this isn’t a time to hang back, it’s a time to grab onto hope, that’s why we are ambitious about building up leaders and movements to bring about the change we need.
We bring together organising, digital and creative to build movements and deliver campaigns - for ourselves, our clients and our partners.
We're currently working with the National Education Union, International Rescue Committee and more.
Our culture and values
Small Axe is a not-for-profit campaigning organisation based in London. We have one goal: to create movements that are progressive, hopeful and powerful, to inspire people to act on the most pressing issues of our time.
We bring together bold creative, communications and organising to run integrated end-to-end campaigns.
We've won billions for schools, raised millions for progressive candidates and causes and mobilised tens of thousands of people to make their voices heard.
Right now we’re working on impactful campaigns with the National Education Union; the International Rescue Committee; on voter registration and more.
We are a small, passionate and collaborative team of campaigners, designers and operations folk.
Together we have proved time and again that when we set our minds to it, there’s just about nothing we can’t achieve.
Everyone on our team is here because they want to work for change, not profit. That’s why we’ve been a cooperative from day 1.
Our members decide who leads our organisation, together we set priorities and draw ethical lines. We believe in leadership so we’re not 100% flat – but we believe that leaders should be challenged and replaced from time to time by the people they lead.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
In campaigning in the UK representation is poor. For a movement that claims to fight for justice and power for everyone this isn’t good enough.
Representation is more than just a moral obligation. Without it our campaigns are weaker and we can't create our vision of the world; one where everyone has a seat at the table.
As an organisation, many of our personal journeys have included overcoming obstacles or facing discrimination. The obstacles don’t disappear but we face them together.
We pursue applications from people in under-represented groups and welcome people to apply who can demonstrate their skills and aptitude even if a traditional career in politics or campaigning has so far been closed off to them.
