One of the nine members of the Coram group, Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is the UK’s specialist centre for children’s rights in education, immigration, community care and family law, and provides significant international legal systems consultancy. The centre is located on the Coram Campus in central London with bases in Colchester and Leeds. We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation. Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. Our Policy and Practice Change team promotes practice change through training and capacity building to professionals and secures systems change through research, policy and advocacy.

About the role

This senior role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC, particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Policy and Practice Change team. Through systematic and efficient management, the post holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability.

The role will oversee the smooth running of the London and Colchester offices through oversight and line management of finance, operations and administrative staff. The post holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children's Rights and department heads in the successful running of our services. Where appropriate they will deputise for the Managing Director on financial, operational and compliance matters.

Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for specialist financial functions within CCLC, particularly legal aid billing. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who focus on grant fund management and overall accounting for CCLC.

The role would suit a highly organised and efficient business support professional with experience of financial management within the legal or charity sector. In particular, candidates with experience of legal billing and more specifically, civil legal aid billing, are welcomed. However, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, candidates with broad operational and financial management experience but a strong aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems will be considered.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the finance and operations team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period (to be negotiated with the successful candidate).The finance team are split between the London and Colchester offices and the post holder should expect some travel.

Whilst this is a full-time position, we will consider requests for part-time working and we will endeavour to offer some flexibility with days and hours to be agreed.

CLPE is based in our beautiful Grade 2 listed building in Southwark. Key responsibilities: 

• Ensure accurate and timely financial and management accounting reports are produced each month, that include full-year accounting forecasts and 18 month cashflow forecasts

Our Education Project Specialists / Project Managers will support the team in delivering ambitious and exciting projects, including internal and external projects with focuses including teacher development, diversity and inclusion, and edtech/AI. Working closely with colleagues, Education Project Specialists will take responsibility for a range of activities, which will include some or all of the following depending on experience and whether full or part time:pro

• Supporting or leading on the delivery of education projects, providing specialist knowledge to deliver these to the highest standard

• Developing and / or commissioning and reviewing content and materials for teachers and school leaders from external partners

The Job
The Partnerships Manager will lead GISF’s income generation efforts to support its mission and implementation of initiatives within the 2025-2030 Strategy. They will do this by proactively engaging with a range of donors, building relationships, and cultivating partnerships. This role involves creating a comprehensive fundraising strategy, identifying funding sources, and expanding GISF’s network to enhance strategic partnerships and revenue.

As a senior leader within GISF, the Partnerships Manager will contribute to guiding GISF’s implementation of its 2025-2030 strategy.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Income Generation & Fundraising

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with GISF’s 2025-2030 strategy. 
• Identify and secure funding from government donors and other sources to build a robust opportunity pipeline that supports GISF’s initiatives. 
• Work closely with the Finance team to set income targets, and with the Communications team to create impactful campaigns for diverse supporter engagement.

Partnership Development

• Establish and maintain relationships with existing and potential government donors (including from the Global South), philanthropies and trusts.
•  Identify organisations for potential partnerships or consortia to win and deliver grants 
• Develop a framework for corporate partners to engage with GISF and our members, that brings in secondary revenue and creates opportunities for positive interactions between members and corporate partners with services relevant to NGO SRM. 

Proposal Development & Co-creation

• Identify relevant donor grant/contract opportunities, draft compelling proposals, and ensure timely submission of all related documentation. 
• Collaborate with donors, GISF staff and GISF member organisations to co-create and promote solutions that address specific needs and align with GISF’s mission. 
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of NGO SRM principles and issues 

Grant Management

• Supervise the Grants Officer, ensuring effective handling of current GISF grants and contracts. 
• Ensure systems are in place to efficiently transition from winning new funding to programme implementation
• Ensure strong and impactful reporting to donors to maintain and grow relationships

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

• Represent GISF at networking events and conferences to increase visibility and establish strategic alliances. 
• Build key stakeholders’ understanding of the value of GISF’s collaborative approach to SRM 
• Coordinate with the Policy and Advocacy Adviser on approaches to key issues and trends with senior policymakers
• Work closely with other GISF team members and GISF member organisations to understand their needs and priorities, to better identify possible funding opportunities

Programmatic

• Where possible, contribute relevant experience and knowledge to GISF activities, such as developing tools for NGOs/NGO Fora that support SRM budgeting and securing resources

Monitoring & Reporting

• Track and analyse income generation activities, preparing regular reports and revenue forecasts to monitor progress, outcomes and ROI

Senior Management Team Contributions

• Contribute to GISF’s strategic objectives, inputting organisational development and supporting initiatives that promote sustainable growth

Person Specification

Experience/Knowledge/Skills

• Contextual Knowledge: A deep understanding of the NGO sector and the global context in which NGOs operate.
•  NGO SRM Knowledge: An understanding of the security risk management (SRM) context within NGOs, with a willingness to deepen expertise in this area.
• Proven Expertise in Donor Relations and Fundraising: Demonstrated success in writing compelling donor products and securing funding through high-quality proposals.
• Strategic Donor Stewardship: A strong track record of cultivating and managing long-term relationships with donors, co-creating opportunities, and achieving more flexible, sustainable funding commitments. Demonstrated experience engaging with philanthropies and corporate donors is a plus.
• Influence and Credibility: Brining a well-established network amongst donor organisations, and skilled at engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders within donor organisations.
• Confident Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including as a public speaker, with the ability to explain complex concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.
• Partnership Facilitation: Experience in fostering programmatic collaborations between NGOs and other stakeholders, including consortia.

We are looking for a Deputy Manager to join our team Endsleigh Gardens which is a 49 bed Supported Accommodation hostel. The service provides person centred support to clients with a history of homelessness and complex needs, such as alcohol, substance and mental health support needs.  

The service is primarily aimed at clients who have a history of rough sleeping, providing them with an environment to recover from homelessness, whilst building their skills and unlocking their potential to ultimately achieve a move-on into independent accommodation.

The Deputy Manager will have significant involvement in leading project staff to create a psychologically informed environment to allow for meaningful change.

As part of the management team, the Deputy Manager will play a key role in ensuring the Endsleigh Gardens team provide a quality service, to vulnerable groups and individuals, who face complex barriers to accessing services. Key responsibilities in this role will be:

• Supporting the team in the day-to-day development and management of the service.
• Line management of staff; offering motivation and supervision to deliver high quality service with a recovery-focused and person-centred approach.
• Responding to incidents and working closely with the second Deputy Manager and Service Manager to maintain high standards of health and safety in the service. 
• Working proactively and creatively with other partner organisations and stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.
• Work normal office hours Monday – Friday, with flexibility to work outside of these hours at times to support the needs of the service.

OVERVIEW

School of Hard Knocks is embarking on an ambitious new 3-year fundraising strategy that will see us more than double our income and increase our audience reach so we can support more young people to complete their education and reach their potential. We have not yet proactively explored challenge events or community fundraising and yet we believe this could be an exciting growth area for the charity. We currently run one special event a year, but again, we see opportunity to grow our calendar of special and donor engagement events.

The purpose of this role is to build challenge and special event and community fundraising to support the delivery of our ambitious fundraising strategy. You will be an enthusiastic fundraiser, focused on building growth in our events portfolio and bringing creativity and events knowledge to the role. You will develop excellent relationships with our donors and corporate partners who engage in our events, supporting them to maximise their fundraising for the charity.

You will need to use your experience, creativity and proven event planning skills to ensure the success of our ambitious plans for achieving an effective events calendar for the charity.

This is a maternity cover contract with the potential to extend after the initial 12 months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Events Fundraising:

• Work to achieve the Fundraising strategy by effectively initiating and delivering a calendar of challenge and special events suitable for our audiences across the UK, that will drive audience reach and income, focusing on delivering a good return on investment and achieving set objectives.
• Develop excellent donor journeys for all participants and attendees, putting in place effective and efficient processes and procedures.
• Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to design and implement appropriate marketing strategies to maximise participation for all events including pre-, during- and post-event publicity.
• With support from the Communications team, develop timely social media content and achieve local media coverage by gathering compelling supporter stories.
• Ensure all supporter records are kept up to date with all interactions and the highest quality data is captured.
• Effectively follow all appropriate protocols and policies for the handling and receipting of donations and sponsorship monies and accurate recording of supporter information. Ensure all information is recorded in line with data protection legislation (GDPR).
• Work with the wider Fundraising and Communications Team to ensure a seamless donor experience for all and optimise cross-selling opportunities where appropriate.
• Monitor progress against set KPIs, report analysis of challenge events to the Director of Fundraising and review performance to ensure effectiveness. Provide relevant data and insight to inform next steps and plans for future growth.

Community Fundraising:

• Work with the Director of Fundraising to devise and implement an annual fundraising plan for community fundraising.
• Work with the Regional Fundraising Managers to maximise opportunities for Community fundraising in the areas we work in.
• Steward all community fundraising activities in England, ensuring our supporters have all the information and materials they need to make their events a success.
• Proactively seek new community partnership opportunities. Liaise with relevant members of staff to attend new business meetings and write compelling cases for support to win local community partnerships.

Other:

• Deliver safe fundraising events and activities ensuring the charity always operates within legal requirements and best practice. Ensure risk assessments are completed on events.
• Be willing and flexible to work outside of office hours to attend events, when necessary. Must be willing to travel around the UK on occasions to attend fundraising events and activities.
• Foster effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders including Corporate Social Responsibility Managers, Chairs & Trusties, senior volunteers and event coordinators.
• Represent the Charity’s Mission by speaking passionately about the charity to donors, and delivering presentations and talks on occasions, inspiring them to join in our mission to make a difference.
• Proactively seek out new opportunities for the charity to grow our income.
• Always work to collaborate across teams to enhance fundraising efforts and strengthen donor engagement.
• Assist in developing fundraising strategies and contribute innovative ideas.

ABOUT YOU

Knowledge & Experience:

• Fundraising Expertise: A proven track record of achieving financial targets through fundraising activities, ideally in mass participation and/or special events.
• Relationship Management: Demonstrable experience in building and nurturing strong relationships with a wide variety of individuals – ranging from community fundraisers to senior volunteers or senior-level corporate executives - to drive engagement and income. Skilled in identifying, establishing, and retaining new supporters, with a focus on effective supporter care and stewardship.
• Digital Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of CRM systems and relevant digital platforms to manage supporter data, track engagement, and enhance communication strategies. Experience using digital tools to streamline processes and optimise fundraising outcomes.
• Fundraising legalities and health and safety. Demonstrable understanding of Fundraising legalities and requirements to hosting a safe fundraising event for all. Excellent understanding of GDPR and integrity in data handling and management.

Skills:

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to recruit and retain supporters, with experience in creating engaging presentations and delivering public speeches to diverse audiences.
• Teamwork and Independence: Confident and self-motivated, able to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with strong interpersonal skills.
• Strategic Thinking & Creativity: Able to translate strategic aims into plans, with strong research and problem-solving abilities. Quick to identify and act on new opportunities.
• Organisation: Strong planning and organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

• This is an interim role, for 12 months from January 2025.
• The salary is £30,000 - 32,000 depending on experience.
• You will get 25 days annual leave per year plus UK National Holidays. Also, we give any normal working days between Christmas and New Year as additional holidays.
• Reasonable flexible working arrangement offered, but you must have the ability to work outside of core hours and travel across the UK when necessary.
