Job Purpose 

The main purpose of this role is to support the international Girl Guide and Girl Scout Movement to improve its meaningful youth participation practice and increase its capacity to be led by girls and young women.

Key Responsibilities 

Mainstream Meaningful Youth Participation

• Work with the Youth Voice Volunteer Team to support capacity building in Member Organisations*, this may include:

• Delivering workshops about meaningful youth participation.

• Creating tailored action plans with Member Organisations.

• Developing resources to support meaningful youth participation projects at national to local level.

• Collaborate with different WAGGGS teams to embed meaningful youth participation into event planning and delivery, for example:

• Ensuring youth participation is happening throughout the planning and delivery process.

• If an event is aimed at young people, supporting the programme to be relevant, exciting, accessible and learner-led for the participants.

• Champion intergenerational leadership** to make sure everyone knows they have a part to play in a Movement led by girls and young women.

• Put the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion into action by not taking a ‘one size fits all’ approach to work.

• Apply intersectionality and be aware of the global, multilingual context of WAGGGS in all areas of work.

• Take the time to understand cultural context and local barriers and the different experiences and perspectives on youth participation young people may have in different contexts, before deciding your approach and be prepared to adapt along the way.

* WAGGGS is a membership-based organisation – we have 153 different national Member Organisations who directly deliver Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting in their country.

Support Young People in Governance

• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of existing recommendations produced by youth-led research into young women in governance.

• Assess what is needed to continue to grow WAGGGS’s meaningful youth participation practice in the governance space.

• Collaborate with the WAGGGS Governance Team to put into action recommendations.

Ensure Meaningful Participation of Girls and Young Women 

• Support the participation of girls and young women in WAGGGS activities across the organisation through, for example,

• Helping to implement safeguarding policies and procedures.

• Checking written content to ensure that it is clear and accessible.

• Advising on how to make sure young people feel meaningfully included.

• Identifying practical ways so that every and any girl can take part in WAGGGS opportunities, taking into account our global diversity and range of languages, time zones and contexts.

Mental Health Homelessness Outreach Team Leader

About the Service

This is a pilot service working as a multi-disciplinary team with housing teams and Drug and Alcohol Services across District and Borough councils. These teams will be working with individuals who are presenting as homeless and have a number of Complex Needs. The Complex Needs Housing Team Leader plays a significant role in the co-ordination and running of the Complex Needs Housing Service.

The objectives of Hertfordshire Mind Complex Needs Housing Service are:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental ill health.
• To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental ill health in, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by Herts Mind Network and other third sector and statutory providers.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To reduce the use of police, ASB, tenancy enforcement, housing needs and environmental health services by clients whose primary need is related to mental ill health.
• To reduce the use of crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health with positive outcomes for the individual.
• To provide an assertive outreach approach for clients who are in crisis and/ or those that may have complex or multiple needs.
• To work collaboratively within an MDT consisting of CGL, District and Borough councils, housing teams and other professionals.

This role is key to the development and support of the team and the wider organisation. 
The post holder will need to:

• Support the Services Manager with effective running of the Complex Needs Housing Service.
• Provide advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients who are experiencing mental ill health or need support with their mental wellbeing. These will be clients who are presenting to District and Borough councils as homeless and need intervention and support with their mental health.
• Line manage staff and where necessary volunteers.
• Lead a team of Mental Health Outreach Workers. Ensuring the team are using databases and outcome tools as required to report for the project.

Key Responsibilities

• To receive and process referrals from the local district and borough Councils for those who have presented as homeless with a mental health need, as well as other appropriate referrals pathways across Hertfordshire and make direct contact within 72 hours of referral.
• To establish effective pathways across a variety of agencies to maximise and provide effective partnership working.
• To manage a caseload of up to 5 clients.
• Embed a holistic, trauma informed and person-centred service
• Proactively recognise the indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitate appropriate action, whilst liaising with relevant agencies.
• Ensure a direct community service is in place which encourages, motivates and builds patients self-esteem and confidence. This will include goal setting and support with social and practical skills development.
• Ensure all person-centred risk assessments and support plans are completed as appropriate.
• To assist clients to access appropriate mental health services, drug and alcohol services, housing/tenancy services and other services according to assessed needs.
• To work with partners both internal and external to ensure that vulnerable person’s cases are monitored and risks evaluated in order to promote community safety.
• Support clients to build their emotional resilience and crisis planning tools, promoting self-management through building an understanding of their own triggers/coping strategies.
• To work with HMN staff in other services in order to make onward referrals to other projects.
• Liaise with appropriate HPFT staff to ensure that individuals are assessed for personal budgets to support with any longer-term needs.
• Support individuals to develop sustainable local social networks, both through our HMN Wellbeing Centres and other community services and resources.

The successful candidate will play a significant role in the co-ordination and running of the Complex Needs Housing Service.

The Migraine Trust is the only UK migraine charity providing information and support, campaigning for awareness and change, and funding and promoting research, and has been leading and bringing the migraine community together since 1965. One in seven people in the UK live with migraine. This complex and debilitating neurological disorder can significantly affect many aspects of life including work, school, personal relationships, and feelings of isolation.

Every year over two million people visit The Migraine Trust website for the most up to date information, and thousands contact the helplines for information and support on all aspects of migraine. The Migraine Trust campaign for increased awareness and understanding of migraine, better access to treatment, and national policy change to improve the lives of people who get it.

The Information Manager will coordinate and develop a range of health information needed by the migraine community and people living with migraine to raise awareness to both members of the public and health care professionals. The role is also responsible for ensuring the information on the website is up to date and coordinating and managing Patient Information Forum renewals.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and maintain quality health information: You will manage and update health information, scope, plan, and create new content in consultation with stakeholders, and identify target groups to produce materials to meet their needs. You will work within the Information and Support team constantly communicating with colleagues working on front line services to ensure the information being produced is in line with service users needs. You will also be responsible for managing the organisations PIF processes and assessments.
• Engage with the migraine community: You will hold focus groups to understand information needs, build strategic partnerships to disseminate information effectively, and support staff learning and knowledge-building about migraine.
• Support communication and dissemination: You will work with the Communications team to create accessible information formats, provide content for videos, blogs, and other communication channels and regularly monitor and report on the impact of information provision.
• Research: You will act as the key point of communication for the research committee, manage administrative duties for research funding applications and grants, and coordinate research meetings and liaise with funded researchers for project updates.
• Represent and support the charity: You will represent The Migraine Trust at external events and build relationships with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.

The Information Manager will have solid experience of communicating complex health information to audiences in written and online formats, as well as proven experience of producing information from the research stage through to writing, external review and liaising with designers. The successful candidate will have the ability to gain an in-depth understanding of medical and health related information, including research and critical analysis skills to develop an evidence base. You will have experience working within a health communication environment, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail with demonstrable editing and proofreading skills. You will have the ability to liaise with key stakeholders, be a self-starter with an ability to work independently and as part of a team and be able to work to tight deadlines. You will have knowledge and understanding of the benefits of patient engagement to produce health information.

The role is home-based with meetings in London once every 3 months which will include overnight stays and some ad hoc national travel. All travel/overnight expenses are covered. We are recruiting for a Director of Operations to join a private international charitable foundation which seeks to support environmental recovery, supported by cultures and economies grounded in Earth lore, in line with their “breathe freely” ethos.  As such they are committed to grants and other investments that are healing to the climate, to biodiversity, and to human cultural relations with the other-than-human. The foundation is currently based in a Hong Kong family office, with personnel in Hong Kong and the UK, as well as Cameroon, Brazil, Australia, Papua, and the US. This role is hybrid and candidate can choose to base in London or Hong Kong.

We are seeking a hands-on, seasoned, and globally-minded leader to serve as the foundation’s Director of Operations (DO) as the institution continues to evolve and develop other vehicles fit for its mission and activities.

Role

As Director of Operations, you will be a key member of the foundation’s leadership team jointly responsible for strategic planning and overall management of the institution to ensure organisational health and the fulfilment of the foundation’s mission. You will report to the Executive Director (ED).

Director of Operations Responsibilities

 — The responsibilities of the Director of Operations will include, but are not limited to:

 Finance

• Maintain best practice of internal and external controls and reporting according to accounting, audit and tax standards for international non-profits and foundations including segregation of duties, security and integrity of data and records, and approval protocols.
• Manage cashflow and liquidity requirements in coordination with the family office.
• With the ED, orchestrate an annual organisation-wide planning and budgeting process.
• Ensure effective expense control, tracking, reporting and forecasting.
• Oversee and upgrade as necessary accounting functions, policies, procedures, and systems (accounting, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, expense reporting)

 Legal and Regulatory

• Coordinate with Grants Managers, the family office, and other professionals as appropriate, in regard to compliance, disbursements, and reporting of grants according to the standards of relevant jurisdiction(s).
• Ensure that all organisational policies, procedures and practice are compliant with applicable labour, employment, tax, immigration, and business registration laws and regulations in applicable countries or jurisdictions.
• Maintain and acquire as appropriate registrations, permits, and documentation in countries as required by foundation activities and/or employee or contractor location.
• Oversee all contracts and their compliance with appropriate regulations and laws. 

People and Culture

• Ensure clarity, equity, and harmonisation of policies (HR, travel and expense), compensation and benefits for staff (employees and consultants) across geographies and tax and legal jurisdictions.
• Oversee policy and practice for personnel including recruitments, hires, orientation and on-boarding, terminations, probation, performance evaluations, human relations and conflict management.
• Foster an institutional culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration while ensuring organisational effectiveness.

Grants Management Oversight

• With the ED and Programme team, oversee the full cycle of grant making including budgeting, projections, programmatic and compliance reviews, payments, grantee reporting and evaluation of outcomes.
• Support Grants Management System (GMS) Systems Administrators as needed, in identifying, prioritizing, and specifying new features and functionality for the GMS system.

 Information Technology

• Strategically manage information systems and IT platforms to support this almost 100% virtual, globally spread out, and highly mobile organisation.
• Ensure core systems are robust, available, and accessible to staff in all locations as appropriate.

Risk Management

• Ensure appropriate and adequate insurance policy acquisition and management needed across the institution and oversee ongoing policy management for adequacy of coverage, renewals, and financial considerations (includes liability, worker’s compensation, travel etc. across geographic areas).
• Oversee health and safety policy and procedures across staff locations and during travel.
• Coordinate business continuity policies and procedures.

Staff Management and Mentorship

• The Director of Operations currently has oversight responsibilities for the following functions:
  • Finance & Operations Manager
  • Grants Manager team
  • GMS System Administrators
  • Human Relations Manager and International Accountant
• Manage relationships with outsourced tax, payroll processing, and legal resources in various jurisdictions.
• Evaluate and evolve staffing structure and skills to support institutional needs and priorities.

Other duties from time to time, as needed.

Subject to prevailing travel regulations and where the final candidate is located, this position may require periodic international travel to the United Kingdom and/or to Hong Kong.

Qualifications

— The successful Director of Operations candidate will likely reflect much of the following profile:

 Essential

• Bachelor’s degree and preferably relevant graduate degree (MBA, MPA or equivalent) or comparable experience.
• At least 10 years senior management experience including international operations and finance responsibilities, with an international grantmaking foundation or non-profit organisation or equivalent. Previous COO, CFO, or equivalent experience desirable.
• International living and/or working experience including in the Global South; familiarity with the complexities of operating remotely and under different jurisdictions.
• Specific experience in leading through growth, infrastructure building, and/or change.

About this role  

The Senior Business Development & Fundraising Coordinator will work as part of the Fundraising and Business Development Team at RedR. This role will focus primarily on generating institutional funding, but will also include to a lesser extent some work with trusts and foundations, corporate funders and individual funders. It will involve managing the Business Development and Fundraising team’s day to day work with support from the Business Development and Fundraising Officer, as well as supporting the Associate Director of Programmes and Business Development in meeting BD and fundraising targets. The Senior Business Development and Fundraising Coordinator will also provide strategic input into organisational fundraising strategies and targets.    

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Team, Project and Line Management  

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the business development and fundraising team, including line management of the BD/Fundraising Officer. 

• Ensure timely delivery of BD and fundraising projects and deadlines in coordination with teams across organisation 

• Oversee the management and maintenance of Salesforce and other software and applications. 

• Ensure accurate income consolidation and donation capturing. 

• Support the Associate Director of Programmes and Business Development in developing/updating and operationalising team strategies, budgets, systems, and processes. 

• Support the Associate Director in setting and achieving BD/Fundraising targets 

• Regularly provide feedback and information to achieve improved results and integrate planning and delegation when making decisions. 

Business Development and fundraising 

Support the BD/Fundraising Officer with prospect research and research into funder priorities 

• Lead the development of successful bids in collaboration with teams across the organisation. This role will mainly focus on institutional funders, but will also work on bids for corporate donors, and trusts and foundations. 

• Ensure bids are developed to a high standard and meet sometimes very complex requirements. 

• Oversee the delivery of smaller fundraising and engagement activities and events by RedR’s Communications Coordinator and the BD/Fundraising Officer in the delivery of smaller fundraising activities and events. 

• With the Communications Coordinator and BD/Fundraising Officer, identify and implement opportunities for engaging individual donors. 

Engaging with Stakeholders: 

• Support Associate Director in developing and implementing strategies for engagement and partnerships with a wide range of funding stakeholders. 

• Nurture strategic partnerships with key clients, understanding their underlying needs and exploring opportunities for cross-collaboration. 

Demonstrating Leadership: 

• Line-manage BD/Fundraising Officer effectively, setting clear objectives and monitoring performance. 

• Promote a culture of innovation and adaptability and encourage leadership development within the team. 

FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS 

EXPERIENCE

• Good experience working with institutional funders and understanding funder priorities.

Main Purpose

This role is an exciting opportunity for you to play a leading role in the development and delivery of our new membership strategy. You will understand membership dynamics and ensure members experience a personalised approach that guarantees value to them.
