About us
Who we are
Young Life International starts with caring adults who spend time building bridges of authentic friendship with young people - where they are, as they are. We listen to their stories and learn what's important to them because we genuinely care about their joys, triumphs, heartaches and setbacks. Because their leaders believe in them unconditionally, young people begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose. Young Life International leaders offer young people adventure, hospitality and unconditional friendship.
Our staff and volunteers enter the world of adolescents, focusing on what matters to them: fun, adventure, friendship and a sense of significance. In doing so, we earn the privilege of talking to them about something that we believe matters most of all: the truth about God and His love for them.
Our culture and values
- Living according to and communicating the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Carrying out our mission under the authority of Scripture and relying on the Holy Spirit to empower our ministry.
- Encouraging the welfare and spiritual health of those who do this ministry, that they may minister out of a consistent and growing relationship with Christ and His followers.
- Researching and developing innovative approaches to reaching uncommitted, disinterested young people throughout the world.
- Reaching young people of all social, cultural, economic and ethnic backgrounds throughout the world.
- Working with followers of Christ from a variety of traditions and local churches throughout the world.
- Welcoming all those whom God calls to our mission — men and women of all races, staff and volunteers — who are linked to a common purpose of introducing young people to Jesus Christ.
- Observing the highest standards of stewardship of all the resources placed in our trust.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We actively seek to recruit staff and volunteers according to their skills, qualifications, experience and commitment to the ethos and values of Young Life International. We aim to avoid any knowledge of any disability from affecting an HR Decision to the detriment of the Individual. We seek to make our application processes as accessible as possible. Applicants for any of our staff or volunteer positions may contact the HR Manager confidentially to discuss any access requirements they may have in relation to the recruitment process. Where the Individual has physical or mental disabilities which may affect their ability to undertake the role for which they are being considered, we will undergo a confidential and documented Reasonable Adjustments Process (see Appendix C) to try to give the individual the best opportunity to succeed by seeking to adapt the role and their working environment. All staff and volunteers are expected to live out a Christ-like attitude towards others in all circumstances, which is inherently anti-discriminatory in nature, as elaborated on in the Staff & Volunteer Code of Conduct.
