Purpose:

To support the effective management of Ella’s office, community hub and homes, ensuring they remain safe, well-maintained, and fully operational. The Facilities Assistant will act as a key point of contact for contractors and suppliers, assist with general upkeep of the facilities, and contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for staff and service users.

Main responsibilities:

Office and community hub support

• Ensure Ella’s office and community hub is well-maintained, clean, and organised for staff and service user use.

• Manage office supplies, ensuring sufficient stock levels of stationery, cleaning products, tea/coffee/milk, and other essentials.

• Collect the post regularly from Ella’s post address and ensure the post is delivered to the correct people. 

• Conduct basic maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, tidying storage areas) and liaise with contractors for more significant repairs or upgrades.

• Perform regular health and safety checks, reporting any issues to the Operations Manager.

Home visits and contractor management

• Obtain quotes for externally commissioned maintenance and facilities related contracts, ad hoc repairs, and redecoration of the building.

• Oversee and maintain the safehouse repairs log, ensuring accurate and timely updates are provided to caseworkers.

• Travel to Ella’s safe homes as required to meet contractors, suppliers, or delivery personnel.

• Oversee on-site work, ensuring contractors adhere to safety protocols and complete work to the agreed standard.

• Provide access to properties for repairs, maintenance, and inspections, and communicate progress to the Operations Manager. 

• Conduct basic checks within the homes, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns.

• Oversee and maintain the safehouse repairs log, ensuring accurate and timely updates are provided to caseworkers.

Health and Safety

• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all facilities, reporting hazards or risks to the Operations manager.

• Regularly inspect fire safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, alarms) and assist with evacuation drills when necessary.

• Support the implementation of policies related to safe working environments.

General administration

• Maintain accurate records of contractor visits, maintenance schedules, and stock inventories.

• Assist the Operations Manager in keeping documentation up-to-date, including compliance certificates and maintenance logs.

• Communicate effectively with the team regarding any ongoing facilities work that may impact operations.

We are looking for a friendly and compassionate individual to join our team in Birmingham as we strengthen and expand the work of Elayos. The primary role is to provide the mother with emotional, physical, moral, and educational support. The successful candidate will train as a Doula (if not already trained) and will assist, support and work in collaboration with the Midwife and a wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) in order to provide a safe and holistic, trauma informed approach to person centred care.

Elayos Doulas do not advise, but take time to get to know their clients. They provide support to enable women to make informed decisions about their maternity care, filling a role that parents and families have always needed. The doula is there to listen, empower and not judge. Offering flexible, practical and emotional support in homes as well as in hospitals. There is a requirement to assist a caseload of clients, support different kinds of births and parenting choices and to have periods of being ‘on call’ for births.

SLOW is the only charity offering weekly in person and online support groups to bereaved parents and siblings in London and across the UK.

Our work is centred around regular support groups for bereaved parents, adult siblings and creative workshops for bereaved younger siblings. All our groups are facilitated by trained bereaved parents or siblings. Our members regularly refer to our groups as a ‘lifeline’. Our model of bereavement support is unique and is a direct response to what bereaved parents have told us they need.

SLOW is a registered charity with an income of currently circa £185k. The charity has a stable resource base with a range of income sources – some annual, some on multi-year commitments and other funding resulting from planned and targeted approaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Under the leadership of the Charity Director, the Fundraiser will manage the day-to-day fundraising and support the Charity Director in raising funds and developing SLOW’s income to ensure financial stability. You will assist the Charity Director in achieving the annual income and suggest new revenue streams.
• Working closely with the Charity Director, you will manage, monitor and execute SLOW’s annual financial target through a variety of different revenue streams. You will be supported by SLOW’s Business Management Assistant.

The Social and Digital Media Officer plans, creates and publishes the charity’s social media and digital communications, ensuring accurate content and the right brand look, feel and messaging.  Working to the Head of Communications and with the wider team, you will organise and proactively seek out stories and other content from across the charity to engage audiences through our digital media channels, including social platforms, the website and email. The Restored Beacon Network is a national network of churches that provide a place of welcome and safety for those who have experienced domestic abuse. Beacon churches partner with us to receive training, guidance and resources so that they can effectively support survivors in their congregations and communities, shining a light in the darkness of domestic abuse and journeying with them on the road to recovery. 

The Restored Beacon Network manager will work with the CEO to grow and develop this important network of churches. You will meet and recruit new church partners and walk them through the journey to becoming a Restored Beacon and beyond. This will involve meeting with church leadership, assessing their readiness to become a Beacon, arranging a training schedule, and supporting Restored Beacon Co-ordinators. You'll care for our church partners, providing spiritual, emotional and practical support to them as they work at the front line of supporting survivors. Relationship management is a key part of this role, not only with each individual Restored Beacon coordinator but also in facilitating peer support across the network.

The post holder will line manage the technical, practical services and administrative teams, ensuring that Health and Safety requirements are fully met.

The post is for 21 hours per week (0.6FTE), on a hybrid contract.  A minimum of 60% of hours is expected at the Newtown based office, with the remainder being available as home working.

Sutton Community Works (SCW) is a Christian charity in South London. Sutton Foodbank is one of our faith in action projects and we are looking for a dedicated manager to oversee the smooth delivery of this amazing project supported by almost 100 volunteers!

Our vision is for our faith in action projects to contribute to a safe and flourishing community in Sutton.

Our work focuses on areas including food poverty, young people, rough sleepers and homelessness. In all our work, our ethos is to love God and others in all we do and say, ensuring people feel seen, heard, understood, and helped.

Sutton Foodbank has been helping people in food crisis since 2009, and supported nearly 4000 adults and children in 2024. We are open 5 times per week across 4 different venues and people are referred to by referral partners across the borough. Details of our sessions can be found on Sutton Foobank website.

Sessions are run by our dedicated volunteers who come from local churches; and our dependable warehouse, restocking and transport volunteers always ensure food gets safely to where it is needed.

People visiting the foodbank come from a vast variety of backgrounds but all have faced difficult life experiences. Beyond food, we also want people to access support to improve their situation, so we commision Citizens Advice to come to the foodbank sessions to help people maximise their income and provide advice on topics such as housing, debt and benefits.

And as a Christian project we underpin everything with prayer, and actively offer prayer to our clients too. The genuine care and compassion from our volunteers helps to build trusting relationships so we can more effectively listen, pray and signpost people to other support. 

As our Foodbank Manager, you can use your leadership experience, excellent communication and organisational skills and Christian faith in a way that makes a real difference in people's lives.

Salary: £32,000 per annum (plus 5% pension commencing from successful completion of probation period).

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5:30pm. Occasional weekend or evening working required, depending on the needs of the Foodbank and of SCW.

Annual Leave: 28 days per annum, including bank holidays

Location: Work is expected to take place in a mixture of locations within London Borough of Sutton, including the office (Highfield Hall, 320 Carshalton Road, SM5 3QB), Foodbank venues and Big Yellow Storage (Kimpton Park Way, Sutton, SM3 9QS). There is also likely to be some travel across the borough. Other time may be worked from home, pending agreement with the Operations Manager.

Occupational Requirement: This role involves offering and participating in Christian prayer with members of the public and volunteers, leading devotions and group prayers, and providing pastoral care and faith-based leadership to Christian staff and volunteers. It is therefore an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practicing Christian.

Role purpose is to:

• Manage smooth and safe day-to-day delivery of Sutton Foodbank, supporting volunteers and clients and ensuring food stock is sufficient and managed safely (65%)
• Maintain and increase capacity of the service coordinating food drive activity, maintaining excellent relationships with food donors, volunteers and other external organisations, and assisting with onboarding new volunteers (25%)
• Contribute to the ongoing development of Sutton Foodbank, by delivering operational activity which aims to decrease people’s need to return to the Foodbank (10%)
• Keep Christ central to activities in the Foodbank (always)

We are looking for someone who:

• Shares the Vision, Values and Ethos of Sutton Community Works (see our accompanying ‘Who We Are’ document)
• Cares deeply for those in need and wants to put their Christian faith into action to serve them through addressing food insecurity
• Is hardworking and will enjoy a busy role based in the community
• Has experience supporting vulnerable people or people with complex social backgrounds
• Has experience leading a team
• Has experience working with or supervising volunteers
• Is comfortable using electronic systems and devices
• Is highly organised, flexible and adaptable
• Has excellent attention to detail
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Has some understanding of safeguarding, health and safety and confidentiality (training can be provided)
• Is a driver with their own vehicle, as this role involves travel across the borough and covering the collection/transport of food.
