Our House Experience Volunteers add the sparkle to any visit – giving everyone a warm welcome, bringing stories from Ickworth to life and helping people get the best out of their day. 

 This role will suit you if you are:

Tasks and responsibilities

• Responding to the diverse needs of visitors, including people with additional access needs.
• Sharing inspirational stories, curious facts and practical information or simply the space for visitors to wander at their own pace.
• Helping visitors to discover more, answering questions and making suggestions so they can enjoy their day, their way.
• Being an ambassador for the whole property and the National Trust. Helping visitors understand the full scope of the offer at Ickworth beyond the house.
• Learning more about Ickworth, so you can share your knowledge and stories of the family and their collections with visitors.
• Responding to the changing needs of Ickworth – supporting ongoing interpretation strategies in the House.
• Supporting with health and safety and evacuation procedures if required.
• Being part of a team that may need to adapt and change in response to local needs, National Trust priorities or changes to government guidelines

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Middlewich & District Foodbank meets its core purpose by overseeing the management and administration of the charity and ensuring that the foodbank has a clear strategy in line with our vision and goals.

What will you be doing?

As the People Strategy Lead Trustee, you will ensure the highest standards of governance in policies and practice related to employee and volunteers’ relations, recruitment, retention, reward, and recognition. You will also be involved in developing the longer-term strategic direction of the food bank’s staffing requirements and succession planning.

Key tasks:

Trustee (People Strategy Lead) Responsibilities:

• to ensure that the Trustee board understand their legal and regulatory responsibility on matters relating to employed staff and volunteers.
• to ensure the Trustee Board monitors and reviews the performance of the foodbank manager, rewards performance accordingly and identifies appropriate development opportunities.
• to ensure that the Trustee Board monitors and reviews the charity’s volunteer programme, ensuring that volunteers are trained, managed and supported.
• to drive the succession planning process.

Other responsibilities, along with the board of trustees, include:

• to approve, support and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives.
• to manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk, and not over-commit the charity.
• to ensure appropriate financial plans are in place, budgets are monitored, and progress is evaluated.
• to review and approve financial statements.
• to ensure the charity has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equity, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding and GDPR compliance/data protection.

Amy’s Place is a partnership between the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Clarion Housing, providing supported living accommodation for young women aged 18-30 in recovery from drugs, alcohol and other addictive behaviors.

An enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate volunteer with good interpersonal skills and a desire to help others. The volunteer must be a fully qualified Dietitian or Nutritional Therapist and have training and/or experience working with individuals with eating disorders.

Activities

• Supporting the nutritional needs of young women with health issues on a limited budget.
• Providing support with meal planning, cooking skills, food safety, and day-to-day problem solving around food and eating.
• Providing wisdom and accurate nutrition education around healthy eating for the individual.

Qualifications/ Experience

• Must be a fully qualified Dietitian or Nutritional Therapist.
• As many of the residents have eating disorders it is essential for the volunteer to have training and/or clinical experience working with individuals with eating disorders.
• Must have professional liability insurance and be a member of a professional body ie. HCPC, BANT
• This role requires us to carry out a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service for the Enhanced DBS

Commitment 

This is a flexible opportunity and volunteering times and frequency will vary depending on the volunteer’s availability and the needs of the residents. We recommend weekly one-to-one sessions for a minimum of 3 months.

•  Volunteers receive a thorough induction and have access to any relevant in-house and external training

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for friendly, reliable and attentive individuals who enjoy communicating with different people and ensuring a great experience for all involved. Whether you are on or off site, you must be alert to health and safety issues.

Fundraisers: Collecting donations at main gates as people enter and leave. Handing out information and sign-positing.

We are asking people to volunteer for one, or more two hour shifts:

• 12pm - 2pm
• 2pm - 4pm
• 4pm - 6pm
• 6pm - 8pm

What You’ll Do:

• Pick Up & Deliver: Collect library materials from a designated library and safely deliver them to clients’ homes.

• Regular Routes: Follow a 4-6 weekly rota, building familiarity with your route and the individuals you support.

• Support the Vulnerable: If you notice a client in need of additional help, you'll inform our Coordinator for further assessment.

About You

You will need: 

• Qualified driver status with a full, current UK driving license (maximum 6 penalty points) and access to own car. Mileage expenses covered.

• A friendly, approachable and positive attitude

• To be reliable, punctual and have the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team

We often support service users who are transitioning into their own accommodation. Whilst this can be a time of happiness, it can also be a time of worry, with it bringing its own challenges, including physically being able to move their own belongings.

We want to support that transition as best we can, hence us looking for a skilled Volunteer Handyperson, who can help to make this process as smooth as possible.

CORE TASKS: 

We are looking for a Volunteer Handyperson to help support a smooth transition for service users as they move into their new accommodation. Tasks will include:

The HMSA is a small and dynamic charity that helps those living with hypermobility syndromes (and carers and families) to be independent and live well. We also provide education for professionals in social care, health, teaching and local authority employees. We have big plans to expand our offer to our members and professionals, as well as raise the profile of the charity and hypermobility syndromes.  We are seeking to appoint up to 2 new trustees.  Recognising that most people with these conditions present and are supported in primary care, we are particularly keen to recruit someone with a background in Primary Care to help us develop our plans. We are also interested to hear from anyone with experience of strengthening social media channels and comms, especially within a small charity setting.

 The Trustee role involves:

•  Preparing for and attending quarterly board meetings – 2 hours in the evening or a half day on a Saturday (half online/half in person if possible). The in person meetings are likely to be in central London.
• Providing support/guidance to the other Trustees, the CEO as well as staff/volunteer team. This may include small group working in between Board meetings.
• You may also be asked to participate in sub-committees as required.
• Developing and supporting our Clinical Advisory Group and/or Comms work
• Promoting the HMSA to primary care and other health and social care professionals or other relevant external audiences.

​In addition, there may-be other events such as volunteer/staff/member meetings or conferences that would be useful to have Trustee support

We are looking for volunteers who can support our team in the Waterside Cafe and ensure we offer excellent customer service to our visitors.

Working alongside the Kitchen Manager and catering team to provide an inviting and relaxing environment in between gorgeous walks and beautiful sights. 

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need. 

About You

To carry out this role, you will need:

• Good verbal communication skills
• Some understanding around H&S within a catering environment 
• To enjoy working as part of a team
• Good general fitness as this role involves spending periods of time on your feet and may involve lifting
• To be reliable and committed to the role and the team
• An interest in and enthusiasm for the work of WWT
