WHO WE ARE  

The 999 Club is a small charity doing big things with local people facing homelessness. For over 30 years we’ve been in the heart of Deptford providing warm welcomes and wraparound services ensuring those who need us are given the best chance of leaving homelessness behind for good.  

Our Gateway Drop-In Centre offers nutritious meals, laundry and medical facilities, showers, IT access, phone charging , a safe space to rest and a dedicated Women’s Sanctury.  

When members feel ready, our team of expert staff are on hand to support them into suitable accommodation where possible, secure income via paid work or benefits, and provide immigration signposting for those who need it. Once housed, our Move+ programme continues to work with them to ensure they settle into new accommodation with the knowledge, skills, community and hope required to thrive in their new life.  

We also run The Bridge, a free six-week evening mental health course open to anyone in the community experiencing mental distress. The programme provides a practical toolkit to support long-term mental wellbeing.  

JOB OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES 

This newly created role will play a vital role in advancing 999 Club’s ambitious plans to enhance its status, reputation, and support among both existing and wider audiences. At this pivotal moment in the charity’s history, the postholder will work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications and the Members’ Committee to co-develop and implement a bold new communications and marketing strategy. 

Building on last year’s extensive rebrand, this role will ensure that the voices of those with lived experience remain central to the organisation’s messaging and identity. A key focus will be strengthening internal and external communication, uniting our diverse membership—which includes staff, clients, volunteers, trustees, and supporters—while also reaching new audiences through social media, direct marketing, PR, and media outreach. 

A major priority will be the relaunch and expansion of the 999 Club’s Membership Scheme and Patrons Programme, designed to deepen awareness and support for 999 Club across Southeast London and beyond. Underpinning these efforts, the postholder will manage the Donorfy CRM database and ensure the ongoing maintenance and development of our WordPress website. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES  

• Manage 999 Club’s social media across all major platforms, creating engaging content that amplifies member voices and resonates with wider audiences. 

• Identify and sensitively share compelling stories that inspire support, avoid clichés and reinforce 999 Club’s themes of positivity, progress, and hope. 

• Produce dynamic newsletter content that strengthens reader engagement and drives action. 

• Work with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to eensure that all design and communications align with 999 Club’s brand style, visual identity, and tone of voice. 

• Handle press enquiries and proactively promote 999 Club’s work across media channels. 

• Establish a Patrons Programme that reflects 999 Club’s our unique and diverse character and supports strategic growth. 

• Launch and develop the Membership Scheme, securing partnerships with local businesses in Lewisham and Greenwich to boost visibility and support. 

• Maintain and manage the Donorfy database, ensuring accurate donor records, reporting, and updates. 

• Produce regular reports, data and analytics on social media and website activity to inform strategy.

• Identify opportunities for promotion and outreach, and represent 999 Club at events, festivals, and meetings. 

• Maintain and update the WordPress website, applying best practices in SEO and accessibility. 

• Support colleagues with research, case studies, consultations, and other initiatives.

• Stay at the forefront of digital trends by networking, researching, and attending CPD and training.  

• Engage with the wider sector on regional and national campaigns.

Qualifications 
Desirable: 

• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development e.g. courses, training, other or qualifications. 

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent), preferably in design, marketing or a related field and/or a profession. 

Experience and knowledge

Our Governance Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all governance work, providing support to the Board, CEO and Executive Team in all matters relating to governance and in particular for the Board and Committee meetings.

You’ll ensure that transactional activities are accurately completed within specified timeframes and co-ordinate all committees of the YHA Board and advise on and implement good governance practice.

What will you be doing?

• Lead and advising on all matters relating to governance including the constitution, memorandum and articles of association, standing orders and codes of conduct, including leading the implementation of any changes agreed by the Board.
• Provide best practice governance advice and support to the Chair, Board, CEO and Executive team, ensuring regulatory/codes of practice compliance, ongoing review of consultations on charity governance and promoting good governance in practice.
• Provide governance support to the Board, Audit and Risk Committee, Finance Committee, People, Remuneration, Impact and Engagement Committee, and the National Officers and Committee Chairs meeting and any other meetings linked to governance.
• Monitor changes in relevant governance legislation and the regulatory environment and take appropriate action.
• Project manage the organisation and delivery of the Annual General Meeting
• Plan and co-ordinate the annual Trustee induction programme.
• Responsible for the administration of the Company, for example: maintaining statutory company records and making the appropriate governance filings to Companies House and the Charity Commission.
• You’ll be the Company Secretary for YHA (England and Wales) and YHA Trading Limited.
• Assist the CEO and Executive with internal and external promotion, PR or other publications and events as required and particularly in relation to corporate governance and Board related issues.

Job details

Hours: 37.5 per week.

Work pattern: Usually Monday to Friday working during office hours with occasional weekends and out of hours work, however we do operate very flexibly.

Salary: Between £60,000-£70,000 per annum depending on experience (full-time)

Holiday: 28 days per annum plus bank holidays (full-time). Option to buy/sell some leave and gain additional days for continuous service after four years. The post-holder will not usually be expected to work bank holidays however when duties require, time off in lieu will be available.

Person Specification:

Education:

• Essential: A recognised accountancy qualification (preferably ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Turn2us is a national charity tackling financial insecurity and its structural causes. We work with co-producers and partners to provide people in financial crisis with the means and agency to get back on their feet, build resilience, move forward with their lives and thrive.

Turn2us and its partners have secured £1.5 million from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver an ambitious and innovative new programme that will support charities in England and Scotland to empower diverse and marginalised communities to respond to climate change and to get their voices heard in environmental policy and media debates.It will focus on Disabled people, those facing financial insecurity and people from ethnic minority communities. These voices are often the least heard from in national and local debates on our environment. This new work aims to change that.

As part of this programme, The National Lottery Community Fund have funded the creation of an Engagement Manager post at Turn2us to work with those facing financial insecurity. The Engagement Manager employed by Turn2us will deliver activity with smaller charities and grassroots organisations supporting those facing financial insecurity that:

• Increases awareness of the impact of environmental change and related policy on different communities 
• Listens to people in these communities to find out what actions they want charities and local government to take
• Develops shared local environmental policy priorities and empowers these organisations to advocate directly to local and national policy makers
• Identifies actions that these organisations can take to support communities to respond to climate change, and helps organisations to implement them
• Identifies people with lived experience to receive hands on training in order to act as diverse champions to media and policy makers

They will work closely with Community Engagement Managers employed by Disability Rights UK, and Race Equality Foundation, focussed on reaching organisations supporting Disabled people and people from ethnic minority communities. 

We offer flexible working patterns, both in terms of hours and remote working. Please note that all employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 4 days a month on a weekly basis.

The Role

​This post will operate at a national level alongside similar posts in the rail industry. It will seek to develop ties with all train operator and Network Rail communications team and will play a key role in delivering Samaritans messages at a national level.

This position will work across both the Network Rail Partnership team and the External Affairs team in order to provide dedicated focus, resource and specialist expertise – providing a conduit for these skills and colleagues in the rail sector.

Skills and experience you’ll need

In this role, you’ll need experience of working in a press office, PR agency, or similar role within a wider communications team or media outlet, having developed excellent communication and written skills, along with a good working knowledge of UK media landscape, a strong news sense and experience selling-in.

Working with stakeholders across the rail industry, you’ll have experience of influencing, negotiating and, ideally, partnership working. Warm, personable and friendly, you’ll have strong interpersonal skills and be able to build and maintain relationships with many different groups of people.

Horatio’s Garden is a nationwide charity creating and nurturing beautifully designed gardens in NHS spinal injury centres. We are seeking a friendly, organised and energetic person with a warm and welcoming manner for the new role of Garden Coordinator.

The Garden Coordinator will join a team of several other dedicated staff across the charity’s existing projects. You will work closely with the Head Gardener, Arts Programme Manager and a team of volunteers to nurture the beautiful garden for people with spinal injuries and their visitors.

You will be responsible for the administration of the garden and coordination of the large group of volunteers. With the Head Gardener you will also arrange seasonal events for patients, their friends and family throughout the year.

Supported by the central Arts Programme Manager you will also be responsible for organising and running a range of social and creative activities for people with spinal injuries and their families and friends to enjoy creating an uplifting, friendly atmosphere in Horatio’s Garden and garden room. These sessions will need to be held on a weekend afternoon which is a critical time in the garden when most patients are available and often have friends and family to visit.

Currently the Arts programme includes crafts, quizzes, seasonal celebrations with lunches,  in addition sessional creative experts also deliver glass fusing workshops, felting, printing, talks, painting, ceramic workshop live music performances,

You will need to be a highly organised person with great IT skills and a proactive can-do attitude. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team in the garden.

About the Role

We are now recruiting for a Housing Advice and Case Worker to provide expert and specialist housing advice and support to our policy and case work teams, especially as it relates to Black and minoritised migrant women with housing needs affected by the criminal justice and/or immigration systems.

The post holder will divide their time equally between our Policy and Public Affairs team and frontline services work. As housing lead, they will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, producing and delivering training and other resources, and will work alongside the Policy and Public Affairs team to ensure the smooth running of our Safe Housing for Migrant Women project. The successful candidate will act as a source of specialist advice to our frontline staff regarding the housing rights and needs of our service users, and will provide urgent community casework support to women with housing needs referred internally from other Hibiscus Projects. The post holder will also support a caseload of a least five service users, providing holistic support and advocacy to empower women to rebuild their lives.

This will include supporting women to participate in education, training, providing outreach support, ensuring the women they work with have a clear understanding of their rights and obligations and how their immigration status may affect their rights to housing and work.

The Housing Advice and Case Worker will play a key role in facilitating communication between the Policy and Public Affairs and frontline teams, maintaining accurate records to support with monitoring, reporting and evaluation of Hibiscus’ Projects. In particular, they will support the collection of data, case studies and qualitative feedback to inform the Safe Homes for Migrant Women project and evaluation.

They will demonstrate a commitment to Hibiscus's ethos aims and objectives, including having an intersectional and anti-racist approach to the work and a comprehensive understanding of one of more of Hibiscus’ key work areas.

About you

Overall Purpose
