About this role

We are pleased to advertise for a Head of Death Penalty Projects- US to oversee our work against the death penalty in the United States of America. 

Reprieve has worked against the death penalty since our founding. In recent years we have built a particular specialism in issues relating to lethal injection, the most popular execution method in the US. Lethal injection has been touted as more humane than other methods – a modern, clean, clinical way to execute. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Lethal injection executions go wrong more often than any other execution method, often resulting in prolonged and torturous executions, commonly known as “botched” executions. Through our work we aim to dispel the myth of the humane execution, working with allies across medicine, business and other sectors to end the misuse of medicines and medical technology in executions.

The existing portfolio of work includes litigation, investigation and analysis, corporate engagement, a wide range of public and private advocacy, and developing and maintaining world-leading expertise on execution methods, particularly the jurisprudence and science relevant to lethal injection.

Contract, location and salary

The role is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £59,226 per annum less any required deductions for tax and national insurance.Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work a minimum of 40% from the London office and the rest of the week from home. There is the opportunity for international travel in the role.

For a large, London-based University, we are recruiting a Deputy Head of Strategic Planning (Student Numbers) to lead on all matters relating to student numbers. Managing a small team, this role will develop and provide reporting on all stages of the student journey from forecasting and budgeting to recruitment, enrolment and continuation reporting. Working with the Statutory Returns and Data Governance team, this role will provide accurate students numbers for use across internal processes and Academic Workload Planning.

Main Duties:

• Lead the University's provision of accurate student number data and reporting to stakeholders across the full student lifecycle
• Manage the use and development of systems used to model and visualize student number data
• Act as point of contact for student number planning, advising on academic programme development
• Lead the delivery of data transformation projects and support the development of strategy and sub-strategy KPIs
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge relating to University strategic planning and student number planning as well as the Higher Education sector's data, policy and regulation landscape.
• Lead, motivate and manage a team of highly performing staff

Person Specification:

• Expert knowledge of student number data, planning, forecasting and reporting
• Experience in developing reporting systems on student numbers across the student lifecycle

It’s an exciting time for the Emmaus Federation as we roll out a new In-Form (salesforce) CRM system and interlinked Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Framework.

The role will be varied in nature, one day might involve conducting interviews with people experiencing homelessness, then next providing support to a member of staff to improve a communities MEL practice, the following day might involve analysing a data set and writing a briefing paper.

The Impact and Evaluation Senior Officer will play a key role in supporting the Emmaus federation to understand and demonstrates the impact of our work. 

The ideal candidate will have strong theoretical and practical evaluation skills coupled with the people skills to make this work accessible to a range of stakeholders.

They will need to be comfortable working as part of a remote team and able to travel to Emmaus communities across the UK to work with staff and companions.

As our fundraising compliance officer, you will play an essential role in ensuring our fundraising and marketing activities meet the highest standards in an ever-changing regulatory landscape, to mitigate potential risks for the charity and to maintain the trust of our supporters.

The varied role will work collaboratively with fundraising colleagues from across the charity. About you

The successful candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge, analytical skills, interpersonal abilities and a keen eye for detail to ensure adherence to regulations and internal policies.

The ideal candidate will have some prior understanding of charity fundraising and the needs of working in an assurance role, but training can be provided.  Prior knowledge some data protection legislation and fundraising regulations would also be beneficial, such as the data protection act, fundraising code of practice, CAP code, gambling commission code, and HMRC gift aid rules. You will also be self-motivated and have an eagerness to learn and develop in line with the ever-changing regulatory landscape and the charities needs and goals.  

Ideal attributes of a candidate include an analytical mind, with the ability to review information, ask questions and make informed decisions to support the charity to meet its objectives, whilst also mitigating unnecessary risk.

You will be an approachable, confident and clear communicator, that can adapt your communication style to a variety of audiences in order to convey complex information in a clear and understandable manner, that is both educational and builds productive relationships with colleagues.

The Methodist Church is at an exciting point in the development of its ministry with young adults (18-30). We are seeking to appoint someone with enthusiasm and passion for seeing young adults connect with God and explore their calling as a follower of Christ.

This role is integral to the delivery of the Young Adult Ministry Development Plan, and will focus on the following priorities:

• The management, development and advocacy of a new Young Adult Mission Placement Scheme, which aims to provide opportunities for young adults to be employed (or volunteer) in mission-focused placements in local churches and circuits where they can explore their vocation.

• Advocating for, supporting and enabling creative and relevant young adult ministry to be started and embedded in circuits and districts by journeying with local circuits/districts, providing advice and mentoring as appropriate to pilot creative projects for young adults to engage with and grow in discipleship and vocation.

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role, the cost of which will be incurred by the Methodist Church.

This post holds a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a member in good standing of a church in association with Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CBTI) or equivalent.

• Degree/professional qualification in a relevant field, or substantial equivalent work experience
• Experience of working with youth/young adults and passionate about growing young adult ministries 
• Highly organised and proven ability to successfully develop and manage complex projects.
• Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Willing to travel and to work occasional weekends and evenings.

The Role

The North West England Methodist District (NWED) is seeking to appoint a Digital Enabler. The role is home-based, with travel throughout the District. The Digital Enabler will facilitate the effective participation by all members in the life of the Church in the North West England District by supporting stakeholders at all levels to facilitate digital evangelism and building and maintaining the District’s online presence.

NWED came to being in September 2024 following the joining together of a number of Methodist Districts. We cover the geographical area of Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and parts of Cheshire and Derbyshire. Within this are inner city, industrial, post-industrial, suburban, and rural areas – no two towns are the same.

The District embraces a rich breadth and variety of theological perspectives and worship styles. A range of fresh expressions of Church (messy church, café church, arts-based projects, digital spaces etc.) are nurtured without neglecting the other, more traditional, expressions and all are equally valued.

We exist primarily to advance the mission of the Methodist Church in our District by supporting churches and circuits (a circuit is a group of churches served by a team, including one or more ministers). The District seeks to support each circuit and church to meet the needs of their members and the communities in which they serve, offering opportunities to worship, work and learn together.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role within a similar sized organisation.
• Demonstrated success in financial planning, analysis, and strategy development.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.
• Strategic thinker with strong project management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, standards, and best practices.
