About us
Who we are
We want every child to have fair access to a high-quality education.
We believe the best way to do this is to support the people who know best: teachers.
Our aim is to free them up to focus on working directly with pupils, by sharing high-quality, curriculum-aligned materials, created by fellow teachers – and when pupils are away from their classroom, we make sure they can access those same great lessons in our online classroom.
From humble roots, Oak has grown into a national resource and a community of teachers supporting one another, all to make sure every child can always receive great lessons.
We are working toward a culture of freedom, responsibility and continuous improvement. To achieve this, we are building a lean but expert team who want to do their life's best work for the benefit of education. Our employees are talented, caring, candid and believe in working together to find better solutions.
We believe in trying new approaches and not being shackled by how things have been done in the past. That said, we look for evidence and data to underpin our approaches and our experiments. We use this approach in all that we do from product development through to organisation rhythm and the employee package.
If you share our values and want to be a part of something unique which is making a difference to millions of children's lives, then we would absolutely love to hear from you.
Our culture and values
Our Values
Create the right environment
We strive to create fewer, better rules and processes because we trust each other to do our jobs and use our flexibility responsibly. We make sure we have the resources we need and we treat each other fairly.
Be a great colleague
We have persistent high expectations of how we behave towards each other. We are always respectful, thoughtful and straightforward. We champion and support each other.
Own your role, but work for the team
We embrace our freedom and take responsibility to make the decisions that are ours to make. We listen to each other and act considering our collective, rather than individual, interests, objectives and expertise.
Make things happen
We get stuck in, ruthlessly prioritise, balance quality and pace, share early and constantly iterate.
Keep getting better
We prioritise developing and sharing our expertise, and seek out evidence-informed learning and development opportunities. We ask for and give radically candid feedback, and when mistakes happen, we learn from them.
