About EduSpots

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-orientated UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips grassroots voluntary educators (named ‘Catalysts’) to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of a world in which communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.

Since 2016, through collaborating with over 400 local voluntary community educators and actors – named ‘Catalysts’ – who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’’. Our Ghana-based team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for Catalysts which are increasingly facilitated by the EduSpots app: the Ignite, Catalyse and Inspire Mentoring Programmes. These enable the Catalysts to lead EduKidz (early years education), DigLit (digital literacy), EcoSTEM (STEM and environmental education) and Ignite Equity (gender equity) clubs for learners typically aged 3-16, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 learners of all ages annually. We are in an exciting period of our development, having more than doubled our income, programme breadth and reach in the two years, with a recent independent evaluation by Expectation State offering further evidence in support of our model’s outcomes. We have been recently selected for two accelerator programmes, who are supporting us as we consider the scaling potential of our model.

We won the Tes International Award in 2018 and the Big Give Supporters’ Choice Award in 2022, and we were recently selected as a finalist for the 2023 Their World Scale-Up Innovation Prize. About this role

Key areas of delivery 

We have two internships opening currently:

1. Trusts and Foundations Intern 

This intern will work closely with our experienced trusts and foundations manager, to support the research process behind identifying trusts and foundations that align with our work, and building a strong case for support of our work.

They will be given the opportunity to learn about grant writing, and in time, complete funding applications with supportive feedback, also contributing ideas to the fundraising team strategy more widely in a friendly, open team environment.

2. Campaigns Intern 

Following the launch of the Bike 2 My Roots Campaign, where Ghanaian cyclist, Emmanuel Adjei is aiming to cycle 10,000km from Munich to Accra this summer, we are looking for an intern to support with management of this campaign, including supporting the organisation of the ‘spin-off’ events as we encourage cyclists across the world to cycle, and fundraising, alongside him!

For this role, you will need strong social media and communications skills, with an aptitude for relationship building and the proactivity to reach out to people for support, across the cycling community and beyond! If you love cycling, that would be an added bonus! 

For both roles, candidates should be flexible and be ready to develop basic Canva design skills if you don’t have these skills already. You would join all team meetings and our in-house professional development programme.

Personal specification 

We are looking for interns with the following:

• Strong communication skills – e.g. written and verbal in English.
• Strong IT skills – e.g. ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Drive, social media etc.
• An ability to work independently with minimal support, with the proactivity to reach out to team members when necessary.
• A genuine interest in learning about education and international development
• A team player, willing to listen to others and respond to feedback quickly and input into the EduSpots community.
• An ability to use Canva design software is desirable, or else a willingness to learn.
• A genuine passion for making a tangible impact on educational opportunity through this role
• A desire to be part of a supportive and passioante education community, with a specifc interest in community-led change.
• Be willing to communicate via WhatsApp and use Google drive

We would like the selected interns to start immediately, and by the start of June. The internship is flexible in timings, but likely for 6 months with a 3 month review period.

SheCanDo is a women empowerment organization focused on breaking gender biases, promoting gender equality, and fostering workplace inclusion.

Across Nigeria and beyond, women and girls continue to face systemic barriers that limit their access to leadership, innovation, and economic opportunities. We are thrilled to welcome a Fundraising & Administrative Assistant to support our Operational Director at a pivotal time for our charity.

After a challenging period of inactivity due to the impacts of Covid, we are excited to embark on a new chapter, as we are ready to restart our activities in 2025 and to develop our projects and create a positive impact in our community.

This is a unique opportunity for those eager to be part of a project evolving from its early stages to the launching of new initiatives. The volunteer will have ample opportunity to learn about charity structure, develop skills within the third sector and grow with the charity.

We are looking for a passionate and articulate person to fill this role. We welcome applicants who may not have prior experience in the third sector but are enthusiastic and eager to learn. If you lack experience, be prepared to engage in significant training and development to succeed in this position. Please note that we can only accept applications from volunteers who are 18 years or older.

What this position entails

This role combines fundraising development and research efforts to secure essential funding for the charity, along with various administrative duties to assist the Operational Director in ensuring smooth operations.

Candidates should have a genuine interest in our mission and values, possess strong Internet research skills, and demonstrate a good command of spoken and written English. While we recognise the benefits of using AI for certain tasks, we cannot accept applications from volunteers who solely depend on AI for research and writing.

Preference will be given to volunteers who are experienced with social media platforms and can aid the Operational Director in creating and sharing content across our social media channels. Familiarity with Canva is a plus, although training will be provided.

You will work closely with our Operational Director, who will be your mentor, while taking the vital role of supporting our administrative and fundraising efforts, providing a great opportunity to make a lasting impact on our work.

As a volunteer-led charity, it’s essential for us to find someone who understands the importance of being part of our team and engaging in the growth of the charity. Therefore, we will prioritise applications from volunteers who are committed to a long-term partnership and want to be an integral member of our team.
 

What do you need to become our Fundraising & Admin Assistant?

Essential:

· Strong skills in Internet research.

· Strong computer skills and able to easily learn how to use new software and systems.  

· Ability to undergo initial training required for the position.

· Be very organised, able to follow procedures and pay attention to details and deadlines.

· Experience with Social Media channels and ability to create content.

· Good command of spoken and written English is essential.

· Ability to work as part of a team and receive guidance.

Desirable

· Experience with CRMs (we use Salesforce) and Canva for design is an advantage. But training will be provided if necessary.

· Fundraising knowledge.

· Past experience in administrative or PA roles.

· Knowledge of how to work with budgets is an advantage.

The estimate of time needed is 4 to 5 hours a week, and we welcome those volunteers that can offer more, although it is not a requirement for the role. We can be flexible and work with you to find hours that fit ours and your schedule - all help is much appreciated!

As a volunteer-led charity, we prioritise volunteers who want to become part of our team of volunteers rather than those looking for a temporary assignment, as this role will involve a substantial amount of training and development. Therefore, we won’t accept applications from volunteers who cannot commit to at least 5-6 months with us.

Background

Indigenous peoples and local communities are grappling with the constant threat of displacement from their lands in Tanzania. The Maasai communities in Tanzania's Loliondo and Ngorongoro regions are currently facing significant challenges, primarily due to government-led eviction efforts aimed at designating these areas for conservation and tourism purposes. The violations of human and land rights have left thousands of people vulnerable and in need of urgent assistance. These evictions not only disrupt the livelihoods of the affected populations but also undermine their cultural heritage and traditional ways of life. As these communities are forced from their ancestral lands, many lose access to vital resources such as grazing lands, water, and shelter, leading to severe socio-economic hardships. Not1More is working with a partner organisation, Traditional Ecosystems Survival Tanzania (TEST), in Tanzania to support their essential fundraising, advocacy and community development activities.  

Your Role

We are looking for a volunteer who can dedicate time to this role through to December 2025. You will be a part of a team that works directly with Tanzania’s indigenous Maasai, and help to make a difference in key areas such as protecting ecosystems, preserving Indigenous knowledge, community capacity building and advocating for Indigenous rights.

The main objective is to help TEST diversify and increase their funding sources. This will include connecting with other enthusiastic team members online to develop a fundraising strategy and implementation of a fundraising campaign, including identifying grant funding opportunities, assisting in the preparation and submission of grant funding proposals, and pursuing philanthropic and corporate partnership funding opportunities.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Ideally you are a compassionate, organised, and resilient individual with strong communication and relationship-building skills, along with a passion for the cause. A proactive, positive personality with a can-do attitude, would highly suit this role.

Previous experience with fundraising activities, preferably with an NGO is desirable but not necessary.

Mentoring

Support and mentoring to develop your skills will be available in this role as we aim to help you bring out our talents in this team.

Working with the Trust and Foundations Manager, you will provide high quality, reliable research and logistical support to research and qualify our planned approaches to new Trust and Foundations. You must be IT literate, with a strong attention to detail.

Roles and responsibilities

1. Researching Prospects

• Finding suitable new Trusts and Foundations prospects. You’ll have access to a workbook, fundraising database and grants bulletin to trawl through.
• Reviewing Trust and Foundation Accounts. You’ll undertake research using online platforms, such as the Charity Commission website.
• Assessing whether prospects are a suitable fit.

2. Administrative support

• Updating our fundraising database and Excel workbook, as you progress. This will involve deciding whether the fundraising team should make an application for each prospect.
• Supporting with fundraising related tasks, on an ad hoc basis, as is required within the Trusts and Foundations team.

Skills and qualities

Essential

• Strong IT proficiency. You will be confident in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel. With a willingness to learn about our fundraising database.
• A methodical and orderly approach. You will be comfortable with online research and working through a workbook of contacts.
• Good verbal and written communication skills. You will have the ability to clearly and concisely summarise information from readily available sources.
• Analytical skills. You will be comfortable with independently conducting research and will be happy with conducting desk-based research.
• Administrative skills. You will be organised and methodical

• Experience of conducting research.

We help people find a way forward with their problems by providing expert advice, enabling people to uphold their rights and access the help they need and are entitled to. While our services are available to everyone in our community who needs us, we prioritise those who need us the most, such as people with disabilities, a language barrier or those experiencing poverty.

A significant amount of our funding comes from trusts and foundations. It is only through the grants we receive that we're able to provide free specialist casework that helps the most vulnerable people with the most complex problems.

We make an impactful difference in the lives of children, young people, women and professionals as well as organisations and businesses. There has been a 10% increase in sexual exploitation and sex trafficking against children (NSPCC 2022), and 99% of victims in the commercial sex industry are female (Unseen).  We desire to provide free training so as many women and girls are trained, enabling increased protection against this horrific crime. 

As a volunteer fundraiser, you’ll be instrumental in the organisation securing the essential funds that allow Emerge Worldwide to reach more people, including supporting and empowering victims and survivors. Your efforts will directly contribute to us offering services to the most vulnerable people.

We’re seeking volunteers with experience in fundraising, fundraising research to help drive our fundraising efforts and expand our support network, including sponsorship. We are looking for a passionate and articulate Fundraiser with experience in focusing on Trusts & Foundations.

What this position entails

Will be working and managing a team of three fundraising assistant volunteers who will also support our charity with Social Media activities. We are looking to recruit a talented and driven individual to join us and help to develop our Trust and Foundations fundraising programme as we are walking towards restarting our activities this year.

The key focus of the role is:

· Work towards developing a warm portfolio of donors, including large multi-year funders, seeking to extend their support wherever possible through close relationship fundraising.

· Researching, exploring and securing new business opportunities.

Main areas of responsibility:

·  Work closely with the Operational Director, Volunteer Marketing Manager and Volunteer Fundraising and Admin Assistants to develop innovative and persuasive proposals aimed at acquiring new partnerships and supporters.

· Thank funders promptly and ensure that regular progress reports and updates are received by supporters as and when required.

· Develop creative and exciting stewardship plans to enhance the long-term relationship between Willowbrook Farm Charity and our funders.

· Work on the fundraising cycle to identify new prospects securing new income.

· Identify new potential funders and match them to WBFC work.

· Prepare and submit high-quality funding proposals and budgets in accordance with timetables and application criteria.

· Maintain accurate records, analysis and reporting of new business secured.

As a volunteer-led charity, we prioritise volunteers who want to become part of our team of volunteers rather than those looking for a temporary assignment. Therefore, we won’t accept applications from volunteers who cannot commit to at least 5-6 months with us.
