Responsibilities

Strategy

• Working with the Board to articulate a clear and compelling vision for growth with realistic and measurable goals for scaling our program and social impact.
• Communicating effectively between the Board of Trustees and our team, and ensuring daily activities align with the organisation's strategic plan and KPI’s.
• Working with the Board of Trustees to mitigate organisational risks and enable decisions that will protect against major business disruption

Stability

• Overseeing the development and optimisation of the organization's infrastructure, including technology, facilities, and human resources, to support increased capacity.

• Developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that builds and nurtures strong relationships with existing and prospective funders.

Special Events Lead

We have a great opportunity for a Special Events Lead to play a vital role in an exciting charity’s Philanthropy team, reporting to the Co-Director of Philanthropy.

Position: Special Events Lead (Maternity Cover)

Location: Cambridge/Hybrid

About the Role

The Special Events Lead role manages the organisation’s special events from start to finish, raising the visibility of the charity, building relationships with prospects and securing income for the Children’s Hospital and the Cancer Hospital.

They will be responsible for project management and professionally executing the organisation’s special events. Past events have included a fundraising gala for 500 guests at Trinity College, a private reception at a jewellery designer’s studio and a behind-the-scenes tour of robotic surgery at the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

• You will take lead responsibility for the operational management and delivery of several Special Events, from dinners and receptions to larger flagship events.
• Create a portfolio of events that will engage a variety of supporters and prospects.
• Develop a yearly events plan for prospects and donors with consideration of cross-team requirements.
• You will manage relationships with volunteer organisers of major special events; not organising the events themselves but being the key point of contact and providing support e.g. income management, marketing support via the comms team, Gift Aid and best practice advice.
• Create detailed event plans with specific objectives and actionable plans, manage event budgets astutely and review whether each event met its objectives.
• Maintain good relationships with committee chairs and committee members where events are being organised by volunteers.
• Take the lead at events; briefing and supervising event staff and volunteers, ensuring that each staff member has a sense of authority and ownership for the successful outcomes of his/her respective areas, as well as the department and organisation.
• Acknowledge, thank and maintain up-to-date, accurate records on the organisation’s CRM database.

About You

As Special Events Lead, you will be educated to a degree level or equivalent of knowledge and experience with a minimum of 3 to 4 years of successful coordination experience. You will have excellent attention to detail and organisation skills as well as the ability to project plan, design and deliver briefings.

It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal skills and are highly skilled in building relationships with different stakeholders. You will also be a great networker and creative relationship builder.

Philanthropy Manager

About the role:

We are looking to appoint an experienced Philanthropy Manager to proactively lead the cultivation and stewardship of potential and existing major donors, trusts and statutory bodies, with a particular focus on driving significant income growth.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Engagement, the Philanthropy Manager will drive the growth of a portfolio of existing supporters and new prospects giving at the five and six figure gift level, with a particular focus on generating major gifts from new donors. The role

This is an important post for the organisation and as the Qualified Management Accountant you will be responsible for leading the management accounting and financial planning of the charity. It is an exciting time to join the Corporate Fundraising Team as they continue their year-on-year growth and success. Working alongside a Corporate Partnerships Manager and Corporate Officer, you play a key role in this continued success. 

As the Corporate Partnerships Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting the team to drive the new business pipeline, building relationships with potential partners and will also manage a portfolio of corporate partnership accounts across various sectors.

Key Accountabilities:

• With the Corporate Fundraising Team, develop a strong pipeline of new partnership opportunities.
• Support with the cultivation and securing of new partnerships through writing compelling proposals and applications, pitching, leading staff votes and contract negotiations.
• Support the Corporate Partnership Manager, to deliver excellent relationship management to all partners, with a focus on building long- term support and revenue.
• Responsible for the creation of partnership plans across the team.
• Work with teams across the organisation to create compelling content to be shared with potential and current corporate partners.
• Meet and host funders and prospects to engage them, and to present them with relevant opportunities to help the cause.
• Record and maintain all appropriate prospect and funder data, donations and correspondence.

To be successful in your role of ‘Corporate Partnerships Coordinator’, our client is looking for you to have prior experience and knowledge in areas such as;

• Working in Corporate Fundraising or similar B2B role, with exposure to both new business and account management of corporate partners.
• Understanding of different types of corporate funding sources charities can secure and trends.
• Supporting with areas such as bid writing, presenting pitches and building relationships that have led to new business opportunities.
• Setting and delivering effective, engaging fundraising plans with corporate partners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Community Experience (CX) team ensures that The Charity’s wonderful community receives excellent customer service.  As part of this important team, you will contribute to providing an exemplary core operations function, over our busiest period, guaranteeing a high quality experience for our donors and supporters through their journey with the Charity. You will work on maintaining essential data streams between external sources and our database, as well as the relationships with both supporters and suppliers that underpin them.

Everything the team does is about ensuring CX excellence, from handling first communications and processing income, through to ensuring that an appropriate ‘thank you’ is received. Working closely with the Fundraising, Finance and IT teams, you will be responsible for ensuring data is imported and reconciled accurately on our database in the most efficient and effective way possible.

Who we’re looking for:

A multi-tasker with strong numeracy and literacy skills, you’ll have an excellent eye for detail, strong organisation skills and the ability to deliver a consistently high level of service in a busy environment.

You’ll have a friendly and can-do manner with excellent communication skills and will be confident working with a range of stakeholders and supporters.

Key accountabilities:

• Respond to inbound donation enquiries in a professional and timely manner
• Manage accurate daily bank reconciliation tasks, working closely with the Finance and Fundraising teams, as well as supporting on month end reconciliation processes
• Process fundraising and donation data into our Salesforce CRM from multiple external sources such as JustGiving
• Process donations made via website, post and phone, including responses to mailings and appeals
• Provide administration support, including preparing thank you letters and carrying out data hygiene activities
• Ensure Salesforce CRM data is accurate and up-to-date and used effectively and consistently for recording information, communication and activity

The Role 
 
As our Corporate Partnerships Manager, you will identify and approach businesses that wish to support a Yorkshire charity and contribute to the advancement of worldwide research to find cures for cancer. You will build strong, ongoing partnerships with businesses and their employees based upon a mutual desire to help each other meet goals and objectives 

Supporting the Head of Fundraising, you will develop Yorkshire Cancer Research’s portfolio of business partnerships and deliver exceptional levels of tailored engagement and stewardship.   

Specifically, you will: 

• Build an in-depth knowledge and understanding of businesses motivations and requirements of a charity partner. Translate these insights into compelling and attractive offers for potential charity partners.

• Work with colleagues across the charity (e.g. in the marketing and the events teams) to create offers that can be clearly and convincingly presented to businesses (e.g. Corporate Social Responsibility fulfilment, charity of the year, employee talks about cancer, team-building fundraising events, support for cancer awareness months and payroll giving). 

• Oversee the delivery of events and campaigns, ensuring the needs and expectations of businesses are properly understood by internal stakeholders and can be achieved. 

• Research Yorkshire businesses to identify those (target organisations) that share the charity’s values and ethos, then approach these organisations to develop a pipeline of partners with the potential to form lasting, mutually beneficial relationships. 

• Meet with leaders of target organisations to listen to what they require of a charity partner and establish whether Yorkshire Cancer Research can fulfil their needs.  

• Develop high quality proposals and plans to support business partners with activities that will appeal to them based upon their needs and specify the support Yorkshire Cancer Research expects so that the partnership will prove mutually beneficial. 

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or 
  proven experience working in a similar role at a similar level. 

• To have experience of relationship-building, preferably with senior business leaders. 

• To have experience of planned and delivered activities and events for third parties. 

• To have experience of working collaboratively and effectively in a matrix-management organisation. 

• To have experience of listening to customers to understand their pain points and needs and developing manageable and profitable solutions to address their needs. 

• To have experience of working with databases and CRM platforms (e.g. Access or Raiser’s Edge). 

• To have excellent customer service delivery. 

• To have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and ongoing partnerships. 

• To be happy to work independently and ask for support where it is needed. Also likes to work with, and support, colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal.

• To have excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, with an ability to use active listening skills, and write professionally and appropriately for the audience.
