Location: Based at our day centre (52 East Hill, SW18 2HJ) – this is not a remote role

Salary: £24,529 per annum

Reports to: Day Centre Leadership Team and Executive Team

Purpose of Role:

We opened our Day Centre for older people, adults with disabilities and adults with dementia in October 2021. The Office Manager role is a new position that will provide a wide variety of operational support to the Day Centre Leadership Team as we are embedding and growing our Day Centre offering and increasing the number of clients who attend the Day Centre and the types of services they receive.

We also support older Wandsworth residents in the following groups with outreach in the community and with activities in the Day Centre: BAME; digitally isolated; financially isolated; LGBTQ; socially isolated; women; and those with, or at risk of, mental and/or physical ill health and disabilities.

At Rotherham Hospice, we provide exceptional care for all those affected by terminal illness and are the only adult hospice in Rotherham for the people of Rotherham and surrounding villages.

We began offering Day Hospice services in 1994, and have grown over the years to now provide a 14 bed Inpatient Unit alongside our Hospice Community Team who provide care in the community.

Your Responsibilities

• You will lead Rotherham Hospice’s community fundraising strategy and manage its associated income and expenditure budgets, ensuring that all targets are achieved and / or exceeded where possible.
• Through expert stewardship, you will ensure all our community supporters are invested and engaged with our cause and you will ensure all financial and relationship opportunities are explored and maximised to their fullest potential.
• You will build meaningful relationships with individuals and community groups within and surrounding the Rotherham area, supporting community-based activities and initiatives.
• As part of our high performing Fundraising Team, you will line manage our Community Fundraising Officers, setting a first-class example through proactivity and behaviours.

About you:

Experience

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role with solid knowledge and understanding of Community Fundraising.
• Proven experience developing compelling propositions that drive results and generate income / supporter acquisition. 
• Proven experience of meeting and exceeding financial targets in a fundraising setting.
• Experience developing and implementing supporter journeys across multiple channels and communication methods including telephone, written and face-to-face communications.

The opportunity

CAG networks empower community groups to act towards a more sustainable future, focussing primarily on the areas of reuse, repair, waste reduction, sharing, surplus food, composting and wider biodiversity and sustainability. In 2023/4 CAG Devon expanded its geographic focus, becoming county-wide, and widening its topical focus. You will be coordinating the delivery of the new Community Action Groups (CAG) project in East Devon (see our parent project website, CAG Devon).

A CAG network provides community groups with the tools and support they need to thrive, such as support with governance, guidance, small grants, training and insurance, as well as opportunities for networking and sharing skills with other groups.

As CAG project coordinator for the East Devon area, you will be nurturing and supporting place-based community groups, so location is essential. The successful candidate must live in central or East Devon or be within a reasonable commuting distance of East Devon. Mileage will be paid for travel within the East Devon area.

You will liaise with the contract manager and the local authority representative and have experience and enthusiasm for sustainability, community development and grass roots activities. You’ll be joining a close-knit team, working with the CAG Devon Project Manager and Project Officer, and occasionally with our wider Resource Futures team.

What you will be doing

• Promoting the CAG Project across East Devon:
  • Establishing contact with communities and key people, through networking, attending and speaking at local events, writing posts, blogs and articles, and speaking to groups.
  • Contributing to the CAG Devon website and social media presence.
• Identifying the needs of local groups (with them), including the resources and plans needed to implement their community-based initiatives.
• Providing individual support to assist groups plan and implement their activities:
  • Guiding communities in the development of practical waste reduction and wider biodiversity and sustainability projects.
  • Providing advice on fundraising and project management for these projects.
  • Providing support to community groups and volunteers through identifying and organising appropriate training events, skill sharing sessions and individual support.
  • Supporting groups to engage with and make use of Resource CIT, CAG Devon’s current online monitoring and evaluation tool.

Role Overview:

Housing and Service Delivery

• Provide strong and effective support to residents in Acorn House that focuses on their strengths and goals, and is delivered in a personalised way and within a framework of active engagement and co-production
• Developing and reviewing support plans that reflect the interests and aspirations of residents
• Induct new residents in line with the service’s policies and procedures and support them to
  continue in their journey towards recovery from addiction
• Carry out assessments of those referred to Acorn House, and induct new residents
• Ensure the fundamental needs of residents are met including good quality accommodation and facilities, healthy food, advice and guidance around benefits, and alcohol and drug testing (to help maintain an abstinent environment)
• Deal with the immediate support needs of residents as appropriate, providing crisis intervention where necessary
• Support residents in addressing physical and mental health issues, including liaison with primary and secondary health teams
• Ensure residents are supported through court or welfare rulings (if necessary)

The Role
Working across all areas of marketing in the business including Front of House, Membership, Events and Food & Beverage. You will be responsible for all aspects of Marketing including updating the website with new content and imagery using CMS, producing and sending out the monthly e-newsletter, producing and replenishing marketing material and supporting on all marketing projects including print and digital campaigns.

The Person
We are looking for a highly motivated, detail orientated individual who enjoys being creative. You must have strong experience in Marketing and Communications and be familiar with CMS including WordPress. A strong knowledge of social media management is essential. Operations Lead Job Description

ROLE CONTEXT

ABOUT ALL SAINTS: There has never been a more exciting time to join the team at All Saints. As part of a new project to revitalise the church for the Island, we are planting the first-ever contemporary service into the Church as part of the HTB network of churches (including Harbour Church Portsmouth). We are currently building an amazing team to bring the vision to life. So, this is a rare opportunity to join a new foundational team and community and to be part of the team that sets the vision, values, and culture for the next phase of ministry at All Saints as we explore what it looks like to play our part in the evangelisation of the nation, the revitalisation of the Church, and the transformation of society.

ABOUT RYDE: Ryde is just a 10-minute journey on the hovercraft from Portsmouth Harbour. Ryde is known as ‘the gateway to the Island with several main travel points located within it. It also has a long stretch of sandy beach and lots of independent shops and cafes. The largest town on the Isle of Wight with a population of 37k. The Church is a landmark on the island with the spire visible from many places around the Isle of Wight and from the mainland projecting beyond the town skyline. The socioeconomic makeup of the town is very mixed and it is a great vibrant place to live and work.

ROLE PURPOSE

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who thrives on operational excellence and loves managing a project to completion to have a hugely impactful and pivotal role in a church entering a new phase of its life. You will be a key part of the leadership team and oversee the operational management of All Saint’s Ryde and assist other Ryde churches in the plurality group; ensuring structures and systems are in place to enable ministry and best use resources within our church, to advance the vision of the church. The Operations Lead will work with the Rector and Team Vicars to achieve the strategic objectives of All Saints in overseeing the operational, organisational, and financial aspects of the church.

KEY TASKS AND DELIVERABLES

Oversee Operational Excellence - Oversee the important day-to-day operations of the church and its buildings and hold oversight responsibility for: Project roll-out; Health and Safety; Food Hygiene, Fire Assessment; Risk Management; Infrastructure; GDPR and Accessibility issues.

• Develop and lead the ongoing strategic plan for the church’s activity in consultation with the wider team.
• Collect and collate data and process information to provide reports as required about church activity.
• Lead the process of planning, designing, developing and implementing church operating and governance procedures, processes and systems.
• Work as part of the leadership team to develop the church’s calendar of events and activities.
• Collect data regarding progress concerning the church’s key objectives and report regularly to relevant stakeholders.

Lead on rhythms to ensure great delivery and communication.

• Oversee the smooth operational running, development and communications of Sunday services & events.
• Responsible for the creation, implementation and ongoing development of excellent systems and processes to support the growth of the ministries and staff structure.
• Work with the team to ensure effective systems are in place for communicating with the church family and wider audiences, including the church website, social media channels and local press.
• Ensure that all church administrative systems are operating effectively and cost-efficiently to serve the running of the church, including all IT systems.
• Provide support to volunteers in the areas of Administration, Communications, IT, Safeguarding, Finance and Facilities to ensure that procedures are implemented and easily followed.

Help to oversee our greatest resource- People!

• Help to recruit, lead, onboard and equip a team of staff and volunteers to support the various functions of the church.
• Work with the team to develop and implement a relevant training strategy for staff and volunteers.
• Work with the leadership team to oversee the implementation of the performance management process to measure and evaluate progress against the strategic goals of the church.
• Responsible for ensuring all church policies, and staff handbooks are up to date and compliant with safeguarding, charity and employment law.
• Support the governance structures of the church and the churches working in plurality.
• Day-to-day oversight of the finances in conjunction with Church Wardens and Rector.
• Oversee the monthly payroll.
• Management of bank accounts, utilities, insurance, and various contracts as needed.
• Manage the church budgets in conjunction with Churchwardens, Rector and Team Vicars.
• Work with Rector, and churchwardens to ensure monthly and annual accounts and budgets are prepared for submission to the Charities Commission on time.

Ensure our facilities are the best they can be.

• Work with the church warden who oversees facilities to manage the premises and facilities ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard and used in line with the vision.
• Oversee facilities, insurance, health and safety and risk management.
• Project manage key organisational development projects within the church and where necessary liaise with external contractors and suppliers.
• Create systems that enable ministry and mission.

Be the Team – as All Saints has never had a contemporary worship service before, this is really a church-planting opportunity. We’re therefore looking to build a team of people who are energised by helping one another and who want to serve the wider vision of the church rather than work in team- specific silos. While most of your work will be focused on operational excellence, we’re aiming to be a close-knit team who all help each other and where no one is left with too much on their plate or a task they can’t manage. This means we’ll all help you with as needed, but in turn, we expect that you’ll help when needed with other projects as well. We think church is just more fun this way, anyway!

• Work with the Rector and Team Vicar to oversee and implement the church’s IT systems and infrastructure.
• Work with the Team Vicar to oversee and implement the church’s use and development of the ChurchSuite database - workflows, tags, GDPR compliance, data cleansing etc.
• Ensure that equipment and systems are fit for purpose and that security protocols and protection are up to date and compliant.

Learn and grow in community – we want to take our team time seriously, to pray for one another, and to help each other grow in our faith and giftings. So, we want an Operations Lead who is excited to participate in team meetings and vision days and has a desire to keep developing their skills, learning, and to create a culture where helpful and gracious feedback is encouraged at all levels. This will mean having a flexible attitude (being able to let go of something that hasn’t quite worked or improve an area that needs improving) and being a proactive member of the team- prepared to give and receive feedback openly.

NECESSARY EXPERIENCE

• Educated to a degree level OR have extensive experience in a similar role.
• Must have experience working in an operational capacity in a previous role.
• Excellent and professional budget management and strategic financial management and planning.
• Regulatory compliance and risk assessments in a professional environment (understands and can keep the team organised on things such as safeguarding and health & safety and data privacy).
• Successful project management.
• Recruiting and working with volunteers.
• Successfully managing others.
• Managing projects where you are not the subject matter expert (such as facilities or IT) but are confident holding other staff and contractors to account.
• Technologically competent – excellent use of MS suite, spreadsheets, databases, and digital presentations.

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE

• Worked in the church or charity sector.
• Professional qualification in Finance, HR, or Project Management
• Line management experience in a professional environment.
• Understanding of grant fundraising or a willingness to learn how to raise funds.
• Familiarity with ChurchSuite
• Familiarity with Accounting and HR software
• Familiarity with MailChimp, MailerLite or another newsletter system
• Use of Canva or other simple design tools.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Being part an active part of the worship of the Christian Church is a genuine occupational requirement for this role. The Operations Lead will be expected to be part of the worshipping community at All Saints while holding this role. The role holder must be available to work a selection of Key Annual events which will include various Holiday services, Church Meetings, Focus (our church summer holiday festival), and other key ministry events (for which advanced notice of dates will be given and time in lieu will be given if outside of normal working hours). All staff must attend weekly staff meetings in person.

PAY AND BENEFITS

• Annual Salary: £30,000 per annum

Modern Art Oxford is undergoing a £1.2m programme of redesign and refurbishment of the ground/lower-ground floor this Summer and as part of this programme, there will be a new artist-designed destination café at the lower-ground level.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate, creative individual to create a menu that will reflect the design and continue to be accessible to our visitors.

Our café is an important part of the gallery, and our Chef Manager is responsible for providing a welcoming, friendly environment, serving a high quality menu with excellent customer service. This is an operational and hands on role where the large majority of time is spent planning and preparing the café food and drinks and interacting with the general public. The Chef Manager is also responsible for the supervision and the rota management of our café staff, and will collaborate closely with our Commercial Manager to maximise profits and further develop the Café in line with the Gallery’s aims and objectives.

The Modern Art café is currently open Tuesday to Sunday 10am-4pm and we work as a team to produce a clear menu offering paninis, soups, and seasonal specials as well as a wide range of cakes and pastries. Devising dishes to limit wastage and working to strict budgets is a very important part of our menu planning.

You will have the opportunity to grow and shape the Patrons scheme. You will work as part of a small philanthropy team with a creative friendly team ethos.

You will form strong relationships with a wide range of senior people and have robust networking and influencing skills. You will be confident in presenting program information in compelling ways. You will be confident in your ability to judge gift solicitation and negotiation. Ideally you will have line management or supervisory experience but this is not essential.
