The Baytree Centre (registered charity no 1175145) is a women and girls social inclusion project based in the heart of Brixton, working to support local women and girls from some of the most deprived wards in Lambeth. 

Inspired by Catholic Social Teaching and in response to local needs we offer programmes that include skills development (employability, language), 1-1 coaching & mentoring, welfare support and creative & academic activities that build confidence and self-esteem, promote aspirations, broaden horizons and opportunities.  We aim to help our beneficiaries improve life chances for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Our Facilities and Reception Team is currently composed of an Operations & Facilities Manager, a Morning Receptionist and a Youth & Family Coordinator Receptionist. The mission of our team is to ensure that the Baytree Centre is a “Safe and Welcoming” place for all. We are looking for an afternoon receptionist to help us in our mission.

The Afternoon Receptionist is responsible for ensuring the security and identification of all girls, parents/guardians, and volunteers entering the premises during the after-school youth activities as well as efficiently managing reception and answering enquiries with the support of the Youth & Family Support coordinator. 

Key Duties & Responsiblities:

• Manage reception

• Lock up centre every day during term time

• Provide some ad-hoc administrative support for facilities management and youth service (e.g. update facilities posters around the building etc.)

Knowledge & Experience:

The ideal candidate can demonstrate that they:

• Have experience working in a client-facing role
• Have experience working with and/or around children
• Understand and have experience of safeguarding and health & safety procedures and practices
• Have a good standard of English (written and spoken) for taking messages and dealing with visitors, callers and service-users
• Are IT Literate and comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite especially Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams
• Can deal confidently with all visitors, students and staff and know how to be diplomatic and patient as well as assertive and firm as needed
• Can deal courteously with all visitors, students and staff and are friendly and helpful and always greet visitors with a smile
• Are efficient, practical, proactive and able to stay calm under pressure to ensure that the Baytree Centre is always “Safe & Welcoming” especially during busy afternoons

We are looking for someone both to deliver our immigration casework and to manage and develop our immigration advice services, including recruitment, line management & supervision of relevant staff and volunteers. The post holder will provide one-to-one legal immigration advice, casework and practical support to migrant and refugee clients in Brighton & Hove and Sussex in the areas of out-of-scope immigration and occasionally asylum work (up to OISC L2). You will also provide supervision for L1 and trainee staff and volunteer advisors as required. You will share the management of our broader advice & casework team, including generalist and resettlement casework, with our current generalist and resettlement managers.

You will be accredited to provide immigration advice at minimum OISC Level 2 and expected to carry a caseload of cases largely out of the scope of legal aid. For cases within scope you will make active referrals or signpost to legal aid providers wherever possible and practical.

Along with other managers you will lead on the development of our casework management system, AdvicePro, to ensure that agreed advice and organisational outcomes are embedded from the outset, and that staff and volunteers are trained and equipped to understand and provide these. You will be required to monitor and report against projects as needed by both funders and internally for e.g. the director and trustees.

You will be expected to participate in local networks and to participate and lead on conversations to develop immigration advice capacity in the city and region and to influence change and find solutions to the critical lack of immigration advice on the south coast.

You will have an awareness of clients’ holistic needs and be able to signpost and refer both internally and externally as appropriate to address needs including destitution; asylum support; children’s, family and adult social care; welfare benefits; housing & homelessness; access to mainstream and voluntary sector services including ESOL and employability, health and mental health care; and referrals into activities and services that can respond to people’s strengths and skills as well as their needs, including our own support groups and volunteering opportunities.

You will contribute to the senior management team of Voices, working closely with the Director, Head of Services, Generalist Advice Manager and Resettlement Manager to share oversight and reflections and planning of current operational needs and strategic planning.

You will be expected to contribute to broader learning and planning around developing our strategic plan and theory of change, including developing our work on the role of those with lived experience in our organisation.
We are currently the only free, L2-accredited, year-round provider of out-of-scope immigration advice on the South Coast, and increasing local immigration capacity is critical to address growing demand and changing demographics in the region. We are also seeing and will continue to see new arrivals and needs in the region over the next year and onwards including Hong Kong BNO nationals, Afghans resettled under the ARAP and ACRS schemes, EEA nationals who still have not registered for status, people required to transition to digital eVisas by 31st December 2024, and an increasing number of both newly arrived and established asylum seekers placed in emergency (‘contingency’) and dispersal Home Office accommodation.

Regular supervisions will be provided by the Director, as well as access to external training on specific issues where needed. However you will need to be ready to step immediately into a busy advice environment with the necessary confidence, skills and knowledge both to deliver a complex caseload and to manage a new team through an important moment in the growth of our advice and caseworker service.

Purpose of the Job 

To support in both the design & creation and the day to day running & implementation of Felix's Kitchen new employability programme and then be the key driving force behind delivering these programmes. 

You will be leading a team of chef apprentices, providing them with hands on skills training created by yourself alongside the accredited course, supporting them with functional skills training, being their day-to-day line manager and supporting other employability programmes within the Felix Project in particular Felix’s Kitchen other programmes.  

You will work alongside the wider Felix Kitchen team and support your programme to integrate into the main production kitchen. You will take a leading role in supporting Felix’s Kitchen at events and engagement opportunities, supporting the apprentices being a huge part of these events, both on and off site. The training kitchen will be your base and you will be responsible for the safe and effective running of this part of the kitchen, maximising its impact on the programmes as well as exploring other opportunities for its use, hosting visitors and charity partners. You will be a key part of all reporting and evaluations of our employability programmes.

The Project Coach will be based within CXK’s Youth Employability Service (YES) and will undertake regular careers-based interventions with young people, supporting them alongside a bespoke work experience placement, organised and overseen by ESCC’s Work Experience team.

Working in schools and in the community, you must be able to manage your time flexibly, use your initiative and creativity to plan and engage young people and stakeholders, and have excellent communication skills.

As a Senior Delivery Lead, you will lead the delivery of the Dallaglio RugbyWorks range of interventions and delivery team within your designated area of London.

In this role you will spend time on the ground delivering interventions to young people. You will also support your Programme Manager with the development and management of the region, which includes the line management of the part time and casual staff members that cover your area.

We are seeking someone with the combined skills of being able to deliver high quality sports and employability sessions to young people with the ability to take on a level of regional coordination. 

We are looking for two Senior Delivery Leads, one to lead our work in North and East London and one to lead our work in South and Central London.

The Programme Coordinator role 

Due to the exciting expansion of our programmes we are seeking a new team member to support our next year of growth and delivery.

In this role you will provide crucial customer service and administration to support the delivery of our inspiring employability and skills-focused workshops in schools.

• Using systems and administrative processes to manage workshop delivery
• Engage with schools and volunteers
• Enhance our feedback and customer service to all our stakeholders

Hybrid working

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home and join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. You do not need to live in London to apply for this role, but you will need to consider what you feel is a reasonable commuting distance for the team days in London.
