The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (the NFWI) is responsible for running the organisation and provides support and advice to members at both regional and local levels. The NFWI also works with the Denman Trust to fulfil its charitable objectives and implement a comprehensive educational programme of courses and activities, both online and in person, to WI members and non-members.

About the Research and Campaigns Officer Role

In this varied and exciting role you will support the NFWI’s campaigns, public affairs, policy and research work to influence and increase awareness of our high-profile national campaigns. By contributing to the development and implementation of the NFWI’s campaigning strategy at all levels of the organisation, you will be instrumental in ensuring that resolutions passed by WI members are successfully transformed into effective local and national campaigns. From providing high quality research on potential campaign issues, to developing new campaigns from start to finish and working with a wide range of partners across the charity sector to maximise our impact. You will play a key role in helping the NFWI achieve real and impactful change in its campaigning and lobbying activities.

About you

Educated to degree level, or with equivalent skills, you will be competent in both policy research and campaign development. Knowledge of the parliamentary process and current affairs are essential, as is a willingness to work on issues across the policy spectrum. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently represent the NFWI at external events.

Experience or interest in one or more of the following policy areas would be beneficial: health, social justice, and environmental sustainability.

In return, we will offer you a hybrid working arrangement, which means a minimum of one day a week in the office and the rest from home although you can work up to three days in the office if preferred, 28 days’ annual leave rising to 30 days on completion of 5 years’ service, membership of our Healthcare scheme, Cycle to Work scheme, and more.

JOB PURPOSE

UK for UNHCR is looking for an ambitious and proactive fundraiser to work in a Senior Philanthropy Officer role for up to one year’s maternity cover. This role will manage its own portfolio of low to mid-level trusts and foundations and will play a key role in supporting the Trusts and Foundations Manager on the engagement and stewardship of our high-level partnerships, as well as supporting on the delivery of a high-quality supporter experience.  

You will be joining the charity at an exciting moment, becoming part of a small but high performing team with big ambitions. This role is integral to the development of our Trusts and Foundations Programme, which has grown significantly in recent years.  

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and determined and who enjoys working collaboratively within and across teams, building relationships and inspiring people to support UNHCR’s lifesaving work. You’ll have strong problem solving and communication skills, both written and oral.  You’ll be passionate about the refugee cause and UK for UNHCR’s role in supporting refugees around the globe. 

Working with our international colleagues, this role will gather information for reports, donor communications and proposals on UNHCR’s key areas of work. 

This role will also work across the team to support on growing the trusts and foundations pipeline, through identifying and then building relationships with trusts and foundations aligned with our cause.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Work as part of the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Team (PPH) to develop new opportunities with trusts and foundations in line with UK for UNHCR’s fundraising strategy. This will include supporting and leading initiatives to approach potential supporters. 
• Support the development and management of a robust trusts & foundations pipeline and a calendar of opportunities for grant submissions to trusts and foundations. 
• Undertake detailed prospect research and identify the most appropriate funding and fundraising opportunities for trusts and foundations. 
• Support the development of high-quality concept notes, proposals, reports, and other fundraising products. 
• Support, and at times lead, on cultivation and stewardship events across the PPH team. This could be anything from a webinar to an in-person event for 50+ people. 
• Support and lead on the development and execution of strong cultivation and stewardship plans, taking responsibility for keeping these updated and reviewed. 
• Help establish an appropriate strategic and tactical response to trust and foundation prospects and supporters in the event of humanitarian emergencies. 
• Maintain the Salesforce database with up-to-date and accurate information on trust and foundation prospects and partners. 
• Help to raise awareness of, and build vital support for, UK for UNHCR’s unique position to protect refugees and displaced people. 
• Work within UK for UNHCR’s due diligence and GDPR policies and processes. 
• Ensure accurate income recording and earmarking procedures to facilitate financial reporting. 
• Support the PPH team in other activities as requested.

This role will be to support the perpetrator intervention across Wiltshire.

You will be primarily based in Wiltshire supporting the Domestic Abuse Serial Perpetrator (DASP) project, providing bespoke specialist support to perpetrators of domestic abuse. The post holder will work as part of the IOM team within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure that clients who show abusive behaviour are supported through every stage of the process of change. Evening appointments are necessary for this post in Salisbury and Chippenham.

In addition, you will support the delivery of the CPR (Choosing Positive Relationships) Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme (DVPP), which is an intensive behaviour change programme, designed to increase knowledge and understanding around domestic abuse, the impact on children and healthy relationships. The course teaches tools and strategies to help someone change their behaviour. The CPR group will require weekly evening work in Wiltshire.

The post-holder will be expected to work to Respect standards.

Full training will be available for this role. 

Client Based Duties

• Identify and assess the risks and needs of individuals who are abusive in a relationship or other domestic setting, using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
• Develop personalised risk assessments and safety plans for each service user.
• Advocate for individuals who wish to address their abusive behaviour and show motivation for change with agencies who can help to address the domestic abuse by:
  • Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to those who are abusive and how your role fits into them.
  • Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to individuals, including in relation to drug and alcohol, housing, health and finance.
  • Working directly with all key agency partners to address the impact of the abusive behaviour on the safety of high risk victims and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated.
• Support the client to recognise the abusive behaviour and the effect that it has on their families and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation and help them change unhealthy patterns of behaviour.
• Understand multi-agency partnership structures and work within a multi-agency setting which may include participation at the MAPPA/MARAC.  You will contribute interventions and help design a plan to protect victims and any children, while maintaining an independent role on behalf of your client, keeping the victim and any children’s safety as central to any response. 
• Ensure support provided is accessible to clients in terms of location and times.
• Be proactive with your line manager in carrying out regular case reviews based on a review of risk and abuse which:
  • Feeds back into action planning to further progress, signpost or close cases and;
  • Provides feedback to your clients/agencies.
• Help maintain accurate and confidential case management records and databases and contribute to monitoring information for the service.
• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services works in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all.  
• Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.

JOB PURPOSE

• Responsible for all calls/emails and face-to-face enquiries to the college relating to all courses. 
• Support our students to get an excellent learning experience from our training courses.
• Assist new students and support continuing students of the college.

The role covers the following main aspects:

• Student administration for all Waverley Abbey College courses
• Liaise with the college team to make sure students have access to all their resources and are supported in using the college software and understanding the college protocols
• Liaise, as required, with the Library Assistant and Registrar on student enquiries relating to these functions
• Liaise with campus administration on smooth running of academic timetables onsite

Key Tasks

• Act as first point of contact for students and enquirers dealing with day-to-day queries

What would we like…?

We're looking for an Assessment Associate to join our NPQ team on a 9-month, fixed-term basis to cover a period of internal secondment (with the possibility of extension to 12 months). 
 
The Assessment Associate will work across the NPQ Programme Suite to provide administrative support. They will undertake various tasks to support the assessment process, such as managing the inbox with our stakeholders; maintaining shared databases; documenting processes; and raising payments for external stakeholders. This role involves working with a mix of different teams and people, so strong communication skills are key.
 

We would like you to:

• Implement clear, accurate and engaging communications with internal and external assessors, ensuring a timely response to queries, and that feedback/issues are escalated appropriately.
• Perform administrative tasks including sending and storing contracts, raising purchase orders, and ensuring that assessors complete training for the specified deadlines.
• Support moderation and quality assurance for the assessment process, including data collection, formatting and timetabling.
• Maintain an excellent database of assessor details on shared systems accessible to other teams, and support the maintenance and creation of process maps and guidance documentation. 

Working in a hybrid way, you’ll be attached to either our Birmingham, London or Manchester office and will report to the NPQ Assessment Manager.  In line with our current ways of working, you’ll be expected to be in the office at least 1 day a month, in addition to team days and this may be reviewed by Ambition. 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

To succeed in this role you will ideally need to have proven experience in delivering excellent customer service and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. The ability to respond positively to change and challenges while seeking solutions and process improvements is also an important element of the role, alongside strong organisational and prioritisation skills. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel to support assessors through accurate reporting.

The Job

The welfare of our dogs is very important to us. We have a no-kennel policy, and all our dogs live in the homes of volunteer puppy Socialisers until they are about 18 months old.  We are committed to providing quality training and support for all our dogs and the volunteers who look after them.

This role requires someone with the skills, experience, and passion to take responsibility for organising and monitoring the Assistance dog training team. The successful candidate will ensure that the team of Assistance Dog Trainers develop our puppies and young dogs to ensure they receive the highest standard of socialisation and training, thereby maximising their chances of becoming a Medical Alert Assistance Dog. They will also play a role in the training and development of less experienced members of the team.

Reports to: Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare

Specific Responsibilities

• To oversee the day-to-day activities of the Assistance Dog Trainers, carrying out 121’s, annual reviews, etc.
• To oversee the preparation of and to deliver in accordance with the dog pick-up schedule for the MAAD programme
• To support puppies or young dogs when required
• To carry out the 6-month, 12-month, and final assessments of dogs
• Assist with the training and development of Trainee Assistance Dog Trainers and less experienced Trainers which may include acting as a mentor
• To liaise with the Health and Welfare Coordinator on any health issues regarding puppies and dogs within the Assistance Dog Training Scheme
• Support the Assistance Dog Trainers with potential matches for a particular client or clients and dog, and to report this progress regularly in Dog and Client matching meetings
• Highlight to the Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare in a timely manner, if you feel a dog is not reaching the appropriate standard or may be more suitable for another role. Detailed evidenced reasons why, must be supplied

Working effectively with volunteers is an important part of our Project Support Officer roles. You will support the Area Manager and Regional Manager with volunteer recruitment, volunteer administration and volunteer retention, and giving our volunteers a fantastic experience. You will also be involved in guest outreach, and giving extra support to our Wales projects as and when required, to aid development and growth within the region.

Each of our Projects is run by volunteer Project Leaders and supported by Regional Managers through recruitment and training of volunteers. You will support the Regional Managers so that they can manage more projects. This support could range from developing relationships with our food suppliers, researching local organisations to support with guest outreach, and recruiting new volunteer Project Leaders for the Area.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to talk confidently to external people about our Projects.​You will also be a good organizer, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within multiple Projects. You will have a passion for food and cooking, and be committed to our objectives and ethics.

This role will require some attendance at our Community Meals projects, which would include some evening and weekend work. A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this exciting role. You’ll need to live within easy reach of our Wales projects in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea.

Our Wigan & Leigh service are recruiting for 2 compassionate and approachable Family Workers, to provide information and advice to parents in relation to substance misuse and its impact on themselves and their family. The postholder will work as part of an integrated network of dedicated professionals, supporting parents to make positive changes in relation to substance misuse. As part of this role, you will be working in our new Family Safeguarding Model, providing support and advice to families and parents who are experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse.

As a Family Worker, you will offer interventions to support parents with substance misuse issues, whilst working to raise awareness of and improve access to appropriate services, with a focus on using Motivational Interviewing techniques. You will provide ongoing support through 1:1 or group sessions. It will be vital for you to develop strong and positive relationships with clients and their families, whilst managing an active caseload and ensuring continuity of care. 

The role will be based in one of our Family Hubs. Our Family Safeguarding Teams are co–located multidisciplinary teams consisting of social work professionals and adult workers. Their aim is to work collaboratively with families, at the right time, respecting families’ rights, following guidance and law. They take a whole family approach to child protection to keep more children safely at home with their families.

You will have demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care or family setting, with the ability to connect quickly with clients and families. It is important that you are self-motivated and resilient, as well as comfortable working alone and on a one to one basis. Working knowledge of substance misuse would be advantageous but we are open to conversations with all applicants who have a passion for working with families. Above all, we are looking for someone who is empathetic and values-driven and has the drive to make real changes, using a positive and engaging approach.

Experience in marketing, managing social media, and creating communications materials using Canva or similar software is helpful. You should be a great storyteller, capable of crafting compelling case studies, and have experience running campaigns, ideally using tools like Mailchimp. Being personable, people-oriented, and a good listener is crucial, as is a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends. 

Desirable skills include experience with CRM systems, creating and implementing communication plans, and knowledge or lived experience in Westminster or surrounding boroughs.
