Are you looking to gain experience in Fundraising data in a leading UK charity?
This post is offered as a fixed term contract until 1 March 2026, or as a secondment for internal colleagues.
The fundraising team are working towards the growth and success of St Mungo’s Fundraising Strategy, which ultimately supports our aim to end rough sleeping for good. We are looking for someone to join the team as a Database Officer where you can provide database administration support to the fundraising team, enabling our strategy on supporter lifetime value, in line with our income growth path.
Working as the Database Officer you will maintain, develop and utilise the Raiser’s Edge database as an effective fundraising, segmentation and analysis tool, and train the fundraising team on Raiser’s Edge. Some of your other key duties will include:
- Manage daily administration of the Raiser’s Edge database, adding of data to lists, campaigns, appeals, adding new users.
- Importing large volumes of data using ImportOmatic and Raiser’s Edge imports for teams across Fundraising.
- Improve data quality on the database by running queries and reports to identify where data is not accurate or in the right format such as missing address information, phone or email and gift aid, as well as other information as identified.
- Support the Database Manager in implementing best practices when using and developing the database, including coding for segments, attributes and other database customisations.
- Assist in training Raiser’s Edge users to ensure they are fully trained in the relevant aspects of database functionality and to provide technical support when required.
- Create data sets to go to mailing houses and email communications which include segmentation of data and complex criteria.
- Work with fundraising and other teams to solve data challenges and estimate time to develop solutions and communicate timeframes.
About you
We are looking for a good problem solver with a solution focused attitude. If you can demonstrate the below, we encourage you to apply:
- Experience in using databases as an administrator, ideally using Raiser’s Edge NXT within the charity sector.
- Some experience in developing reporting, incorporating multiple criteria based on ever changing requirements, analysing data; and using data management tools and techniques including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulae, data manipulation and presentation).
- You will have good knowledge of GDPR with an investigative mind, and the ability to solve complex problems while remaining focused on wider team objectives and goals.
- Good organisation and prioritisation skills and be an effective decision maker with a solution focused attitude.
In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.

What you’ll be doing
As a Campaigns Analyst, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping River Action’s fight for cleaner rivers by transforming complex data and information into compelling narratives that influence public opinion, media coverage, political advocacy, and legal action.
Reporting to the Head of Campaigns, you’ll be at the heart of our evidence-based approach. You’ll be analysing government and industry data, uncovering insights, and equipping our team with the intelligence needed to challenge polluters, hold regulators accountable, and push for policy reform.
Like a detective, you will be the person we rely on to seek out and identify the smoking gun - as well as to meticulously build out the pieces of the jigsaw - that demonstrates the malpractice, illegal behaviour or mismanagement of a water company, a factory farm or a failed regulator.

Monitor government regulators and industry updates, tracking regulatory programmes, announcements, data, reports and other information.

Develop and lead proactive data collection efforts including by making Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) requests to inform and support campaigns, legal actions, investigations and communications.

Plan, execute and report public opinion polls to gather insights that strengthen campaign messaging.

Analyse and interpret complex data to uncover key insights that drive impactful campaigns and communications.

Map and assess major campaign factors, including pollution sources, supply chains, regulatory frameworks and industry compliance.

Investigate polluters, evaluating their legal obligations, governance structures, sustainability claims, environmental performance, finances and resource allocations.

Investigate government regulators including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Ofwat, analysing the performance of their monitoring, reporting and law enforcement duties.

Maintain and update internal databases and fact sheets with the latest intelligence.

Develop an in depth understanding of UK policy and legal frameworks relating to the regulation of rivers, and ensure colleagues are kept up to date with changes.

Contribute towards River Action policy and advocacy work, ensuring our positions are underpinned by evidence and data.

Ensure all River Action initiatives are evidence-based, current, and well-informed, and support colleagues requiring data and evidence for handling media opportunities.

About the Role
You’ll be at the heart of defining and evaluating impact, working across the organisation and the wider Network, leading on producing insights to feed back into the Network, informing operational decision making and driving fundraising and marketing activity.
Your work will seek to maximise significant investment in systems and customised Salesforce CRM, using data to demonstrate the impact of the charity and the Network in improving outcomes for young people. Your role will be to establish, embed and maintain a data culture across the Network, helping lead the way as a data-driven organisation.
During the first 12 months, you will manage either a fixed term post or temporary consultancy resource providing data analysis. This will be specifically focused on supporting the Network’s young people’s engagement strategy, tracking impact of new engagement initiatives trialled and helping identify indicators for success.

About You
You will have experience in using data and insights to facilitate decision making, using analyses to drive improvements and of working with impact data and communicating outcomes, including handling large datasets. You will have experience of mentoring/coaching or supporting others to build capability.
With a good understanding of qualitative and quantitative monitoring and evaluation methods and analysis, you will have highly developed data presentation and visualisation skills. Knowledge of Salesforce Analytics would be a bonus.

About Women in Prison
Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. You will work closely with teams across Fundraising to develop and execute growth strategies based on data and insight; build and interrogate reporting dashboards, manage data requests, and directly support fundraising colleagues to optimise campaign activity by reaching new and existing audiences with relevant content and asks through a multi-channel supporter segmentation approach. Your expertise in data analysis and reporting tools will be crucial for driving insights that improve our fundraising and impact strategies. Key responsibilities:
- Business partnering with Fundraising teams, identify opportunities for our data to enable the achievement of FR strategic goals. For example, supporting on Fundraising strategy and fundraising campaign development through the provision of Lifetime Value analysis, propensity to give modelling, econometric modelling and / or regression analysis, recency, frequency, value analysis and the appending of third-party data sources to enrich our data set and better understand our donors and prospects.
- Analyse large datasets to identify trends, insights, and opportunities to optimise fundraising campaigns and strategies.
- Creation and maintenance of dashboards using Power BI to present actionable insights.
- Provide analysis and reporting to support live events, campaign performance, and strategic decision-making. Delivering to and enhancing briefs provided by client teams, ensuring that accurate and timely insights are available for Fundraising teams.
- Track performance metrics during events and provide immediate feedback and recommendations for optimization where appropriate.
- Support the Fundraising team with data-driven audience segmentation in Salesforce Marketing Cloud or through Comic Relief’s Azure Data Lake
Data Tools and Architecture:
- Support the development of the charity’s Azure-based data models, ensuring data consistency across platforms through providing and feedback on and identifying future developments needed.
- Collaborate with other teams to optimize data flows, improve reporting systems, and ensure the effective use of data across the organization.
- Leverage SQL, Kusto (KQL), and Salesforce Non-Profit Cloud and Marketing Cloud to extract, analyse, and manipulate data from various sources.

Essential criteria
- Experience of working with data from a large scale, sophisticated consumer fundraising programme, specifically digital first programmes, or an equivalent Business to Consumer (B2C) scheme with Customer Relationship Management at its heart.
- A strong background in SQL and Python.
- Proficiency in Power BI for dashboard creation and reporting.
