Specialist Support Workers within Look Ahead are required to have either an extra dimension of experience or a higher qualification level as determined relevant for the particular post. IBIS House MH Step Down & Crisis

Working in partnership with the London Borough of Newham and East London Foundation Trust, IBIS House supports people who are medically fit for discharge from mental health inpatient stays but have other barriers to discharge. These may include housing, living skills, accessing benefits or the community, or other interventions and will be on a person-centred basis. The main aim of the service is to provide short-term support to customers to link with longer-term services to reduce escalations in need, and reduce inpatient readmission and reduce pressure on inpatient beds.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will be expected to undertake some duties as part of the management team which may include supporting the team with their responsibilities whilst working flexibly to respond to the needs of your own customer case load. This role will require either an extra dimension of experience or have/be working towards a higher qualification level in order to meet the role specific competencies for this position.

Shifts will be on a rota pattern and include morning shifts (08:00-16:00) and afternoon shifts (14:00-22:00).

Includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Work proactively with the team to handle the service caseload and support an effective team approach to meeting each customer's identified needs in a recovery-focussed way
Assessing referrals received by the service, within the 4-hour target, and providing a rapid response to these - supporting the team to identify and promote positive risk management.
Contribute to a positive service environment, ensuring the service is supportive and a place of safety and stability for customers. We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for a Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.

Shine has a membership of over 13,500 members living with SpinaBifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,000 associated members.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with NPH across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just under 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.

Job title: Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH)/ Dementia Coordinator

 

Reports to: Director of Services

Location: Home Based or Hybrid * 

(dependent on proximity to our Head Office in Peterborough, with travel across England, Wales & Northern Ireland as required)                                                               

Hours: 35 hours per week (willingness to work outside of office hours, evenings and weekends when required)

Purpose of Job 

To provide the foundations for improved health, social and emotional outcomes for adults living with NPH and to support their families/carers.

To focus primarily on delivering 3 of Shine’s 7 Strategic Goals all of which drive Shine’s ambitions:

·  Goal 3: Adults of all ages with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus have the choices and opportunities to live healthy and independent lives

· Goal 4: A connected community

· Goal 7: Transforming attitudes and improving access to health and care services through engagement, partnerships, research and campaigning

Staff management:

1. Shine is committed to providing quality advice and support. As service lead you will provide supervision, training, guidance and support in line with Shine’s HR processes and procedures to other members of staff who are involved in the delivery of work for the NPH service.

 

Project management:

1. Evaluate existing support for members living with NPH and their families/ carers within Shine

2. Develop and grow the service based on the needs and voice of our members

3. Lead the support of members living with NPH and their families/ carers across England, Wales & Northern Ireland

4. Develop annual work plans, which will enable continued development and delivery of the NPH service

5. Create a framework for the service and develop Shine colleagues to support delivery in key areas

6. To provide training to upskill colleagues in dementia

7. Create greater consistency across all Nations by developing strong working relationships with key colleagues in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

8. Drive collaborative working with the National Programmes and Engagement Manager and the National roles – particularly Health and Benefits

9. To manage any specific project budgets, ensuring spend is planned, within budget and allocated to the appropriate cost centre 

10.  Maintain an oversight on data capture and data management for the work on NPH, alongside the Director of Services develop outcome measures to demonstrate impact

11.  Work in line with GDPR, maintaining confidential member records providing clear and accurate record keeping for monitoring and evaluation

12.  Identify new potential sources of funding as the project develops and contribute to funding bids as requested. 

13.  Working with colleagues in Services, Fundraising, Marketing, Trust and Foundations colleagues and Shine’s membership to identify opportunities for long-term sustainability of the work.

Delivery  

To manage all enquiries from our members living with NPH and their carers, providing direct one to one support and advice including-

·  Welfare benefit/ income maximisation advice

·  Condition specific support to enable the person living with NPH to have choice and control over their current and future care needs.

·  Signposting /referring to more specialist information and support, internally or to other local, regional or national organisations 

You will also:

· In collaboration with Shine’s National Programmes & Membership Engagement Manager, Health and Services colleagues and external partners, lead the delivery of the NPH awareness week once a year

· Review existing and develop new resources for members with NPH alongside the Health team

· Develop and deliver an annual programme of events and peer support groups for members with NPH and their families and carers

· Oversee social media, Facebook and WhatsApp support groups

· Organise steering groups, providing opportunities for Shine members to guide the development of the service, and engage in consultations and research

· Develop partnership opportunities and closer working relationships with health professionals, statutory organisations and charities

· Identify key campaigns to improve the rights of members with NPH, improving access to statutory services, access to NHS care, awareness regarding diagnosis and treatment.

Other core requirements of working for Shine:

· To work with Shine’s national and regionally based colleagues to ensure that all work is complementary, coordinated and beneficial to our members

Experience – essential 

· A minimum of 3 years' experience of working with older people living with dementia

Emmaus Oxford is looking for a Charity retail Deputy Store Manager to join our retail management team running our large charity superstore in Cowley Oxford. Emmaus provides housing support and meaning occupation in our social enterprise to up to 28 ex-homeless men and women [known in Emmaus as Companions].  As well as providing retail management the role also involves coaching and training companions and working closely with our team of Progression Workers and Learning & Development Manager. Emmaus collects donations of furniture and household goods from across Oxfordshire and these are sold in our superstore in Cowley and through our online sales business. Proceeds from sales make a major contribution towards our housing & support service. This is a part time role working 22.5 hrs. [3 days] a week and may involve some weekend working and key holding responsibility. Your work will directly help ex-homeless men and women, local people on low incomes and help create a better environment through recycling and reuse. 

As Community Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Huntington’s Disease Association, you will help deliver our strategic plans and objectives by generating and growing income through community fundraising activities. You will support our existing supporters and community fundraising portfolio as well as proactively expanding our reach with community-based groups, organisations, and volunteers, to ensure maximum financial return for the charity. Through the development of community fundraising products, you will engage with our supporters in new and exciting ways.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of fundraising at a charity as well as experience of budget management. You will represent and promote the work, vision and purpose of the Huntington's Disease Association.

The role of an IDVA is to address the safety of victims and survivors at high risk of harm. IDVAs work with their customers from the point of crisis by safety planning and risk assessing using the DASH to ascertain the level of risk to the victim. They will also raise awareness of male domestic abuse with partners and within the community.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

What you'll do:

Look Ahead IDVAs have the personal qualities required to manage customer expectations alongside the responsibilities of their role. Day to day IDVA activities include:
Manage client referrals, completing Dash Risk Assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork

Regular attendance at Marac and completion of all Marac referrals
Support Customers to obtain Non Molestation Orders where needed and any other civil remedies available to them

Attending all court and Case Management hearings with or as a representative for clients.
Supporting clients to set personalised goals in the form of a Safety and Support Plan.
Assisting in the recording and reporting of customer incidents

Adhering to lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself and colleagues

Bath Welcomes Refugees (BWR) is a small charity established in 2016 by volunteers with the initial intention of supporting Syrian Refugees. Since then, there have been growing crises across in the world, Afghanistanand Ukraine being the most significant recently. 

We provide a wide range of support to those seeking refuge and to make a new life in Bath and the surrounding area. Our servicesinclude providinglanguage tuition , arranging for their education, help setting up homes andproviding other support services to enable them to live independently and settle into the local community.

Whilst we work with other local charities and agencies to provide the support needed by an ever-growing number of refugees and asylum seekers BWR depends on its 250 volunteers and their enthusiasm, invaluable expertise, experience and dedication to provide a range of support to those seeking refuge and to make a new life in Bath. 

BWR is looking to recruit a part time Volunteer Coordinator on an initial one-year contract. Reporting to the Operations Officer you will be responsible for recruiting, overseeing induction, training as well as the day-to-day coordination and supervision of our volunteers. 

To be successful in this position, you will need to be 

Empathetic with BWR’s aims, non-judgemental and flexible around working times.

Have the ability to develop relationships with volunteers, clients and other stakeholders, be resourceful, collaborative and enjoy working with others with diverse experiences and backgrounds.

Outline of the Role

• You will work with and provide support to the Operations Officer, Team Leaders, the Refugee and Asylum Seeker Support Coordinator and to ensure we provide appropriate resources to support our families and individuals to meet their individual specific needs. 
• Assess the suitability of volunteersin their allotted volunteer role, in conjunction with the Team leader, prior to the end of their probationary period and identify the need for additional training or other support required for the volunteer to be successful in their role.
• Provide information about the work of BWR to potential volunteers and promote volunteering in the wider community to identify potential volunteers.
• Maintaining our Case Management System.
• Liaising with the Communications Team in relation to the website and other digital communications in respect of volunteer activity.
• This is an initial one-year contract, with hybrid working (office and home). The role will require flexibility to attend meetings, liaising with refugee families and asylum seekers either during the day, evening or at weekends within the Bath and surrounding area. 

The role is based on 29 hours per week with a pro rata salary of £25-27k full time equivalent (commensurate with experience).

The role will require an enhanced DBS check.
