Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is an independent charity dedicated to helping the successful integration of refugees and people seeking asylum into the local community. With over three decades of experience, we provide a holistic service which includes advice on welfare, benefits, and immigration, alongside education, counselling, and career guidance.

In 2023/24 we supported 2,036 people:

• 1,171 clients accessed advice and advocacy services, including immigration advice
• 305 accessed ESOL classes
• 250 children supported through after school and family support services
• 61 people supported through our counselling service

This is an exciting time to join RAK at the start of the new fundraising strategy for 2024-2028. RAK currently has a successful grant fundraising programme through a selection of statutory bodies, trusts and foundations, and recognises the need - and opportunity - to broaden and diversify its income generation streams. We are looking for a fundraiser to build on existing strengths within the organisation to broaden our income stream through corporate support, individual giving, major donors and social media fundraising campaigns alongside maintaining and developing our trusts and foundations funding. 

Our new Director, Elli Free, has 25 years’ experience supporting people seeking asylum and substantial fundraising experience. Elli is looking forward to working collaboratively with the new Fundraising Manager to ensure RAK sustains its work in Kingston and reaches into neighbouring boroughs.

Purpose of the role

As Fundraising Manager, you will lead the fundraising functions of the charity to generate income, meet organisational targets, and ensure development opportunities are effectively maximised. Working with the Director and programme teams, you will develop and write competitive bids, growing capacity and securing income for 24/25 and beyond. We are focused on multi-year bids and opportunities that deliver the best outcomes for our client community. As a client-led organisation, we strive to meet the needs of our clients and deliver impact-focused programmes.

The Fundraising Manager will have proven experience of successful grant writing and demonstrate a track record of fundraising achievements across multiple income streams.

Main areas of accountability

Fundraising - general

• Writing and submitting bids, tenders and proposals to ensure income targets are met in line with performance objectives
• Responsibility for the development and the implementation of RAK’s fundraising strategy, in line with organisational strategy and resources
• Providing stewardship to existing donors and supporters to maximise income and ensure long-term funding relationships
• Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of the impact of the services provided at RAK

Trusts and Foundations, Statutory Funding

• Securing regular income by producing and submitting appealing fundraising applications to trusts and foundations as well as statutory funding
• Researching, monitoring, and identifying new funding opportunities for the development of existing or new services and organisational capacity
• Reporting to funders in line with funding criteria, objectives and the specified outcomes conditional to the funding

Individual Giving

• Ensuring that donations are acknowledged in an appropriate and timely manner in line with the stewardship policy
• Managing the charity’s supporter database and online donations
• Developing an excellent supporters’ journey via digital means and channels
• Preparing appealing fundraising campaigns and cases for support to the general public
• Working with the Partnership and Digital Marketing Co-ordinator to maximise income from social media channels and other digital channels
• Keeping up to date with professional best practice and recent trends, identifying developments that impact the organisation, and sharing knowledge appropriately across teams and departments

Corporate Giving

• Leading the expansion of RAK’s corporate giving initiatives, identifying and developing opportunities for engagement, and achieving the corporate income target
• Managing the Partnership and Digital Marketing Coordinator, whose primary focus is on corporate giving

General Duties

• Undertaking any other related duties as required and appropriate to the role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Practitioner Assistive Technology, Band 7 to join our Assistive Technology Team. This role will require the successful candidate to provide a high quality, evidence based assistive technology service, promoting participation, communication and interaction for children and young people accessing The Children’s Trust Therapy Services. Additionally, you will develop and deliver the service, in collaboration with multidisciplinary health, therapy and education teams.

Our service delivery aims to promote outcome focussed interventions, safe care, function, and participation, of children and young people accessing home, school, and community life. You will provide clinical leadership within the area of assistive technology, across the therapy service, ensuring the delivery of child and family focused goal led interventions at a highly specialist level, for children and young people accessing The Children’s Trust School and in-patient neurorehabilitation services.

Role Requirements

• Lead the provision of high quality, evidence based assistive technology interventions, for children and young people attending The Children’s Trust School and receiving in-patient neurorehabilitation.
• Provide clinical leadership to the Assistive Technology Team, identifying service priorities, service delivery methods and standards of practice.
• Provide assessments for complex augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems
• Identify service needs for AAC and selection of appropriate hardware, software, access, and mounting options, as per organisational policies and procedures.
• Understanding of mainstream technologies in specialist support, assistive technology, and computer access.
• Knowledge of environmental control and powered mobility.
• Lead in the design and implementation of communication and technology resources.
• Maintain and disseminate specialist knowledge of eye-gaze control and the use of eye-tracking, within clinical assessment and management.
• Develop therapy goals, plans and methods, in collaboration with the child and family/carers, as well as the Multidisciplinary and Education teams, founded upon evidence-based practice.
• Be an autonomous Practitioner, with responsibility and overview for Assistive Technology interventions, and maintaining relevant records and reports.
• Work closely with all members of the Multidisciplinary Team, as well as the child and family, to provide a fully integrated approach to the overall management of the child. This will include any home/school visits, professional child related meetings and/ or appointments, as required.
• Identify and utilise specialist assessments and relevant outcome measures, for children/young people receiving assistive technology interventions.
• Work flexibly across site as needed e.g. with the team in the Children’s Trust School
• Work flexibly in terms of hours, in order to meet the needs of the service, including an early evening (weekly) and one weekend day, per calendar month.
• Represent the Therapy Team and The Children’s Trust when appropriate, deputising for the Team as required.
• Undertake specialist assessments, externally responding to national and international requests.
• Act as the Lead Professional for complex case management and coordination, as and when required.
• Actively participate in, support and Chair relevant Multidisciplinary Team meetings, as and when required.

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. About Victoria Hall Harrow

The Victoria Hall Harrow charity started in 1888, with the aim of building a high quality venue for the people of Harrow to come together and to build community. Since then our venue Victoria Hall has been rebuilt twice, most recently reopening to the public in Summer 2021. We also created a new charity some years back (a CIO), transferring the assets of the old charity over. For this reason our Charity Commission listing below is not representative of our current financial position and our assets. 

For around 140 years Victoria Hall has provided space for rent to local residents and groups. It has been used for every possible purpose - parties, events, activities, conferences and much more. 

More recently the trustee board have embarked on a renewed strategy process, and we are now relaunching the charity as a partnership-first community centre, that identifies local needs and uses our assets to best meet those needs, working with a wide range of partners to serve the local diverse communities.

As VHH is a very small charity, you will be fully hands on in all possible areas of strategy, governance and operations. You will need to be comfortable across all areas for which you will be responsible.

About the Role

Community Connectors work as part of an integrated, blended mental health offer to support people with emotional, social and practical needs to access a range of local, non-medical and non-clinical services, to improve confidence, social inclusion and independence.

This role will involve working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with statutory, third sector and NHS colleagues to support clients who are suffering from moderate to severe mental health difficulties. You will need to have experience working with those suffering with mental health illness as well as being able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of the services, support networks and local resources that may assist in improved outcomes for those dealing with complex and enduring mental health issues. The ability to be adaptable, work independently and the resilience to work in some challenging environments are key attributes for this role.

Service Delivery

• Assess suitability for community connection support as part of a blended team approach and support individuals to access the service by utilising in depth knowledge of local voluntary and community services and networks in your respective area
• To work with individuals to coproduce a plan to address their mental health and wellbeing goals. Am enable people to achieve these goals through facilitating access and connecting with appropriate resources
• Enable people to access community resources which may include accompanying them.
• Offer support, guidance and help where possible to people to gain confidence, overcome initial fears and seek solutions to any barriers inhibiting attendance.

As a senior youth worker you will be part of the team at Carney’s community, involved in the running of the youth boxing sessions, youth club and bike workshop. The post will start before the lead youth worker is on maternity leave to allow you time to get to know the team, the young people and for effective handover when you will be given responsibility for overseeing the youth club and bike workshop sessions and work in partnership with the head coach to run the youth boxing sessions. You will also manage a small team of sessional youth workers. You don’t need any particular experience in boxing or bike maintenance, but we are looking for people with experience of working with and supporting young people aged 11-18.

We have the option of working between 3 and 5 days a week, but you will be required to work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday between 12.30pm and 8.30pm when our sessions run.

London Legal Support Trust’s mission is to help free legal advice providers in London and the South East be more resilient and sustainable. Through grants, advice and infrastructure development, we help to ensure they can continue providing vital and life-changing legal advice to people who otherwise could not afford to defend their rights.

Access to justice is a fundamental right; without it people are at risk in almost every aspect of their lives, from employment to housing and everything in between. Our partners, the legal advice centres, help thousands of people every year to access justice and to have their voices heard.

• We support law centres and other legal advice agencies in London and the South East by providing them with grant funding alongside other forms of support.
• We offer our knowledge and experience of the sector to help legal advice agencies become more sustainable.
• We work in partnership with other grant-making bodies to get vital funds out to charities and civil society organisations, to help people that face challenges such as lack of food, isolation, debt, homelessness, domestic violence and mental ill-health. 

We raise funds for this work, predominantly through mass-participation fundraising events. Our biggest event, The London Legal Walk, is the biggest event fundraiser in the legal calendar. In 2023, over 16,000 people took part from across London’s legal sector – from judges and barristers to law firms, law students, legal advice providers and other supporters – to raise over £900,000 for free advice services in London.

About the role

We are recruiting a Programmes Manager to work across projects in our Sector Support programme. Working closely with the Head of Sector Support and Grants, they will manage relationships with beneficiaries and partners, coordinating monitoring and evaluation, and ongoing development of grants programmes. Your role

The Community Project Manager is a critical role working closely with partners and volunteers to strengthen the Watch movements in designated areas across Devon and Cornwall. Oakview is a supported living project for 10 customers with mild to moderate learning disabilities. It provides a 24/7 support service, with an emphasis on choice and control for customers, enabling them to achieve greater independence, improved quality of life and integration into the wider community. Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. This includes providing personal care, domestic duties, emotional and social support in a person centred way. Staff will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

The service is staffed 24/7 and all staff is required to cover at least one sleep in a week.

What you'll do:

- If a need arises, deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer. In some services, this will include delivering personal and physical care as appropriate
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
- Participate in the support planning and risk management, as facilitated by the lead Support Worker
