About the Accelerating Reform Fund
The Accelerating Reform Fund is a new initiative which aims to transform social care services, making them more responsive to the needs of the community. It is a national programme, with 42 regions allocated to have their own projects. Greater Manchester is one of the ARF regions. The ARF has a particular focus on unpaid carers and aims to boost short-term breaks for carers and improve hospital discharge processes. This work is made possible by Department for Health and Social Care grants. As an organisation, Gaddum has supported and collaborated with unpaid carers for many years, so we’re excited to bring our experience to the table. This role will be based in the Manchester team working to improve hospital discharge processes.
Job Summary
To develop and ensure safe discharge planning and information for patients and unpaid carers. To embed procedures to raise awareness of the needs of carers in a secondary care setting, working in partnership with the discharge, virtual and enablement teams. To empower carers to be involved in the discharge process.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide operational leadership and oversight of the Carers Hospital Discharge Pilot in Manchester. The role involves line-managing a team of three Hospital Discharge Workers across multiple hospital sites, ensuring effective collaboration with hospital staff and community services to support carers. The aim is to enhance the identification and referral of carers, ensuring timely and appropriate support to prevent carer breakdown and facilitate smoother, safer, and more efficient hospital discharges. By fostering strong relationships with health teams, discharge teams, and local services, this role bridges the gap between secondary care and community resources, contributing to improved outcomes for carers and patients alike.

The Role
The Senior Individual Giving Officer will act as a source of fundraising expertise in the Direct Marketing and wider development team, as well as the global Development and Marketing teams. Lead on devising a digital strategy that will maximise supporter engagement and acquisition, and thus grow individual giving income, with the input of the Direct Marketing Manager
Mercy Corps Europe's fundraising team is in a growth phase and there are many opportunities to innovate. Creative freedom is very much encouraged and the diversity of the organisation's programmes makes our fundraising work truly varied. There is huge potential in this role to deliver initiatives that will have a significant impact in growing our donor base, including testing new ways of engaging with audiences, integrating marketing across new channels, expanding use of online advertising, SEO and AdWords, harnessing data to create more effective campaigns, engaging thought-leaders and influencers online, and investigating new innovative ways of reaching key audiences.
The ideal candidate will have experience of the latest trends in fundraising and will have both the creative and technical skills to deliver key elements of the direct marketing strategy. Our stewardship programme is underpinned by our emails and so experience devising communications plans and writing for email is a must. Supporter development
●Lead on integrating online and offline fundraising, offering supporters a cross-platform experience
●Lead on innovating our digital offering - taking ideas from conception through to testing and beyond
●Work with the Individual Giving Officer to innovate our fundraising offerings and find new ways of acquiring supporters
●Ensure that Mercy Corps grows the number of engaged supporters and income across channels to meet targets
●Responsible for day-to-day implementation of digital campaigns and activity (including email, PPC, social, programmatic and display), to deliver against set targets
●With support from the rest of the team, develop and edit digital fundraising content suitable for target audiences, such as prospective online donors or re-engaging lapsed donors, ensuring consistency with Mercy Corps branding and style guidelines
●Review and analyse results of fundraising activities and make changes to future work based on this
●Regularly obtain feedback from the audiences that we are contacting to ensure that we are optimising the way we communicate

The Criminal Justice Services Directorate is an incredibly important part of our organisation, delivering services in the community and in secure settings including Prisons, with a range of individuals and groups that have all been impacted by sexual harms (including sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation, or boys and men) alongside the impact on their families and friends.
Over the past 15+ years we have grown as an organisation, both physically and metaphorically, and we’re now supporting approximately 2,500 male survivors every single year across all our services in the Community Services Directorate and the Criminal Justice Services Directorate. The current state of the criminal justice system, the difficulties in the mental health system, the cost of living and other societal pressures will make the next few years both challenging and fascinating and you could get to help shape our local and regional response, along with influencing the national discussion on tackling sexual and domestic abuse, gender-based violence, and the ever-growing prison population.

Education Programmes Lead
Vocabulous is looking to recruit a part-time member of staff to lead its regional training programmes, recruit more schools, and help develop the curriculum at both KS2 and KS3.

The Role
Vocabulous is an innovative online resource to aid targeted and explicit vocabulary teaching in Key Stage 2 and 3 English lessons. We are looking for a part-time member of staff to lead our education programmes. This will involve talking to new schools about using the site, working with schools to support them to implement Vocabulous in lessons and running regional training programmes to build networks of schools that are confidently and consistently teaching Latin and Greek roots.
The other aspect of the role is to contribute to the development of the new KS2 and KS3 curricula. This will involve designing aspects of the new programmes, writing questions and resources, and planning changes in response to school feedback. Over the next couple of years, the programme is going to be split into a KS2 site and a KS3 site, with the KS2 site being launched in September 2025.
We are a small organisation with a social purpose, so we are looking for someone who is excited about the job description, but who is also interested in learning more about all aspects of running an education start-up and keen to support Vocabulous’ strategy and growth beyond their job role.

The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of developing countries to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that developing countries should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions. The initiative has been working in different forms for over a decade and our work receives worldwide coverage and widespread acclaim.
Degrees’ programmatic work builds capacity through research grants, workshops, and community-building—all across the Global South. The initiative has been steadily growing since becoming a charity, and we plan on continuing to expand. Over the next few years, Degrees will offer grants to research teams in new countries and disciplines, support the scientists as they develop into regional leaders, and keep building a global community of experts.
The Staff Scientist position offers a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to move into or advance in the nonprofit sector while helping scale-up the organisation’s work. They will get to work with some the world’s leading SRM experts both inside and outside of Degrees and play a central role in building an initiative that is changing the field of SRM.
Job purpose
The Degrees Modelling Fund was launched in 2018 and has grown into the largest SRM research programme in the world. It supports almost 150 scientists across the Global South as they model how SRM could affect the climate in their regions, and they are becoming influential leaders in the SRM conversation.
This is a good start, but our plans are much more ambitious. We now want to support the Southern teams to move to the next level in their development. National projects will evolve into regional research programmes—in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, for instance. These regional programmes will inform policy processes by writing reports and policy briefs. Centralised downscaling and bias correction will reduce the barriers to SRM research across the Global South, allowing more countries to do their own SRM research and increasing existing teams’ output.
Degrees’ new Staff Scientist will be central to this. As an expert in climate impacts modelling, they will help the teams develop regional research projects. They will support Southern scientists to get access to the data that they need, will advise Degrees on how we can best support Southern SRM research, and develop new work streams as needed. In all of this, the Staff Scientist will work closely with the 26 modelling teams that Degrees supports across the Global South, plus our range of partners and volunteer research collaborators. In this, their work will be central to the next stage of Degrees’ development, helping to ensure that developing countries have the evidence and expertise to evaluate SRM and to play a central role in research and discussions.
About the position
The position will appeal to someone with a strong academic track record who is looking to use their skills and training outside of academia—for an organisation that is looking to use research to change the world, rather than just for research’s sake. Because the right candidate may not wish to leave academia entirely, the position may be less than full time, which would be negotiated (but not less than 60% time at Degrees).

We address a crucial gap in long-term recovery support. Our approach is respected for its empowerment and focus on lived experience. The EPIC Restart Community is an inspiring online network offering community, learning, and connection. Our intensive programmes, Restarting Lives and Woman.Empowered, provide life-changing events, personal development, and recovery coaching.
Our team has grown significantly in recent years. We’ve directly supported over 600 individuals since our pilot launch in May 2021. Additionally, we’ve reached over 20,000 people through online and outreach activities. We’re embarking on a new two-year strategy aimed at becoming a Centre for Excellence in gambling harm recovery. We deliver transformational programmes with measurable impacts and influence stakeholders to increase support for those in recovery.
We currently have a strong financial position, but funding methods are set to change significantly. In 2025, the Government will introduce a statutory levy on gambling operators. Funds will be distributed to commissioners for research, prevention, and treatment grants. This process is still developing, so our path remains uncertain. However, we are optimistic and see growth potential as feedback on our work has been positive.
Who we are looking for
During a period of transformation, we need an experienced leader adept at developing relationships with commissioners. This could stem from the gambling harm sector or other relevant fields like addiction, homelessness, domestic abuse, or mental health.
Our Chief Executive must lead change effectively through ambiguity. Over 70% of our staff and volunteers have a lived connection to gambling harm, so it is vital that you can lead with empathy, kindness, and compassion, particularly during this time of transition.
