About the role
The principal responsibility will be to support our ambition to become a best practice national body and an employer of choice, responsible for the day-to-day management of the HR function within Emmaus UK, as well as the development of our approach to in-house learning and delivery of our new People & EDI Strategy.
The role will be responsible for all aspects of Human Resources at Emmaus UK, overseeing the whole employee lifecycle, from recruitment and induction processes to offboarding and exit interviews.
The postholder will oversee HR processes, reviewing their effectiveness and identifying and embedding improvements to improve the employee experience.
Working with the Director of Resources, the role will be central to the delivery of the strategic objectives with an HR focus, while taking responsibility for the operational HR function to ensure a positive and supportive working environment for the staff team.

The Role
We are looking for a seasoned and qualified financial & operational leader to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our financial strategy, ensuring strong governance and compliance, and supporting our mission to create lasting change for vulnerable households.
The CFOO will report to the CEO and work closely with them and the Board of Trustees, overseeing financial & internal operations, advising on strategic financial matters, and safeguarding our resources for maximum impact In addition to the financial aspect of the role, the CFOO will support the CEO with the day to day operational running of the trust, overseeing HR, Admin, Compliance and IT functions. About You
- A qualified Chartered Accountant

- Risk-Aware and Analytical: Skilled at assessing and mitigating risks, with a highly analytical approach to financial & wider risk management.

About the role

The Senior Practical Support Officer role is key to the delivery of NCVO’s support for small charities. You will be a key part of a small team, with a focus on managing and responding to enquiries that come in via phone and email to our Small Charity Helpdesk. We receive 400 – 500 enquiries a month about setting up and running a charity, with a particular focus on volunteering and governance.
Alongside the helpdesk you will also work with colleagues across NCVO on the production, and curation of content for our website and with internal and external stakeholders to produce sector leading practical webinars.
You will have a particular focus on volunteering, working with multiple stakeholders on a range of cross-organisational initiatives to ensure we develop and share best practice on involving volunteers.
Your good working knowledge of the voluntary sector, understanding of the specific needs of small charities and sharp focus on delivering excellent customer service will help us to effectively respond to the needs of the sector.

Youth homelessness costs the UK economy an estimated £8.5bn, largely due to unemployment, and so the challenge can feel huge. But we already have the resources to solve it within the built environment sector. And that is where LandAid comes in.
We use our links to the UK’s property industry, harnessing its members’ direct capital, assets and skills to help tackle youth homelessness by awarding grants and investing in frontline charities, providing financial support, and brokering free advice and expertise to increase the impact of their support.
The Chief Financial and Operating Officer is an important new role for us, created to ensure we achieve our ambitions over the coming years by focusing on delivering better quality of management information, insights and analysis to the Board and leadership to inform decision making. Job description
1. Organisational leadership and people management
-
Work with the ED and SMT to ensure a values-led and positive organisational culture is reflected throughout ways of working, internal communication, policies and processes, and all team activities.

Line-manage Senior Management Team (SMT) members, operational roles and other roles as necessary (currently Head of Development, Head of Communications and Engagement, Head of Policy, Advocacy and Research, and Operations Manager).

Chair weekly SMT meetings.

Oversee human resources and people management processes, ensuring alignment with best practice in areas including recruitment, induction, performance management, safety, wellbeing, learning and development, and benefits.

Oversee the bi-annual, in-person team retreat.

2. Operational management

2. Financial oversight
- Work with the Operations Manager (responsible for day-to-day financial management), budget holders, outsourced accountancy provider, external auditors in the UK and The Netherlands, and other financial specialists on areas including:

- Annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting and monitoring.

4. Risk management, governance and compliance

- Lead safeguarding work as the SMT Safeguarding Lead; working alongside the Participation Manager and Board Safeguarding Lead to ensure robust safeguarding policies, processes, training and a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring it is a key consideration throughout all organisational activity and decision-making.
- Lead on legal and regulatory compliance issues, seeking advice from lawyers in the UK, Belgium and The Netherlands, and other experts, as necessary.

5. Stakeholder engagement

Street Support Network is a small, impactful charity that helps over 30 locations in the UK in their responses to homelessness.
Lead organisations in these locations pay us to host and maintain a localised online directory of services and advice. This is where most of our income comes from.
We also work offline, connecting people in local areas to co-produce better solutions, facilitate conversations and co-ordinate action.
About the Role
This interim role will play a pivotal part in the future of the charity by leading the team and our network of local partnerships to support those experiencing, or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
This high-impact role requires an independent and strategic leader who can balance managing existing partnerships with identifying and cultivating new opportunities and exploring options for a sustainable future for the charity.
We anticipate this role is needed initially for a six- month period to complete an options appraisal for the future. A longer-term appointment is possible, depending on the outcome of the appraisal.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong initiative, leadership, and the ability to contribute to both short-term and long-term strategic goals.

About the Responsibilities
Manage existing SSN locations:
- Manage relationships with existing locations and strengthen engagement with them, ensuring they receive tailored support and we receive maximum income.
- Use our CRM system to track partnership engagement, including relationship status, history and payments. This will likely include engaging with partners regarding outstanding payments.
- Host and facilitate quarterly online network events to encourage collaboration amongst SSN locations. Support our locations with managing their data integrity. This will include recruiting and managing volunteers. Measure and report on impact using Theory of Change and other metrics, both internally and for our partners. Be responsive to enquiries from potential new partnerships.
Support the Street Support Network Team:
- Provide appropriate support and direction to the two team members.
- Host and lead regular team meetings to ensure communication, engagement and collaboration.
- Meet regularly with Chair of Trustees and Finance Advisor. Prepare Reports for Trustees and attend Trustee meetings to present advice and support actions agreed.
Income Maximisation and Fundraising:
- Work closely with our Finance Advisor to maximise fee income from existing SSN locations.
- Collaborate with our external fundraiser to identify additional funding opportunities and submit compelling grant applications to supplement fee income covering the charities’ core costs.
- Provide guidance to local partners on their fundraising initiatives and grant applications to meet their SSN fees.
Explore and present an options appraisal for the future of Street Support Network:
- Work with Trustees, team and external partners to explore options for the future of SSN to include options for expansion and development of new products and services or for consolidation.
- Collect evidence and undertake stakeholder consultation and provide written reports to Trustees to help with decision making.
- Develop action plans for taking strategy forward.

Job Title: Head of Grants
Reports to: CEO
Salary: £45,000 - £47,000 pa (dependent on experience)
Location. Remote, home-based work and occasional attendance in Edinburgh office.
Contract. This will be a full-time, 35-hours post, but we may consider part-time arrangements to start with. Some flexibility will be required to attend events and meetings away from Edinburgh.
Responsibilities. Head of Grants will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide the lead for the Grants’ Department in the VF, managing relevant staff to best effect and shaping the Grant-Making Policy to suit the VF’s objects.
- Provide high quality policy, communications and strategic advice to the CEO and Trustees.
- Liaise with other organisations (eg Cobseo, AFCFT, OVA, other charities) to formulate policy and to enable smooth and effective operation of the VF’s Grant-Making Policy.
- Deliver the Grant-Making Policy approved by the Trustees.

About Us
The Veterans’ Foundation (VF) is an independent grant-making charitable foundation. It has established a substantial grants’ programme to support charities and organisations in the UK that provide charitable support to those in need among serving armed forces personnel, veterans, operationally qualified seafarers and their immediate families. The charity has grown rapidly since inception in July 2016 and has to date (Oct 24) given away more than £25M to good causes and handed out around £1.6M to good causes each quarter for the past year.

The Maternal Mental Health Alliance’s (MMHA) Everyone’s Business campaign calls for all women throughout the UK who experience a perinatal mental health problem to receive the care and support they and their families need, wherever and whenever they need it. This role will play a key part in supporting MMHA’s successful campaign and helping drive change for women, babies and families affected by mental health problems during pregnancy and after birth.
Job purpose
- Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the MMHA campaigns.
