The Henry Smith Charity is an independent grant making trust that was established in 1628 by Henry Smith.

The charity's mission is to utilise its resources to assist individuals and communities in times of need, aiming to bring about positive change by funding organisations that work to reduce social and economic disadvantage.

The role is initially on a 12 month fixed term contract working 21 hours per week over 3 days.

They offer an excellent hybrid working policy, which will see you split your time between their office in Kings Cross and working remotely. The expectations are to work 1 day per week in the office but there will need to be some flexibility on occasions.

This is a really exciting time to join a small but busy team. You will be overseeing operational HR, as well as being involved in some strategic project work.

To be considered for the role, you will be qualified to CIPD level 5 or have relevant equivalent experience. The People & Culture Manager will be able to evidence a consistent and ongoing commitment to continuing professional development in employment law and practice during their career.

About the role: 

The People and Culture Manager will provide comprehensive and professional HR support across the charity and will collaborate with the Senior People and Culture Manager and People and Culture Assistant to ensure the people and culture strategy is effectively delivered. 

Main responsibilities of the role include:

Employee Relations

• Provide HR advice and support to managers and staff.
• Guide managers on employee relations issues including performance, grievances, disciplinary
• Capture lessons from cases to inform continuous improvement.
   

Recruitment & Induction

• Lead end to end recruitment, onboarding, and probation processes in line with charity values and DEI.
• Oversee induction administration, right-to-work checks and contract preparation.
   

Policy & Practice

• Help review and update HR policies to reflect best practice.
• Embed organisational values and DEI across all HR processes.
• Assist with HR reporting and support staff engagement, wellbeing, and development.
   

Strategic Projects

• Support delivery of People and Culture strategy, including HR systems and reward review.
• Help develop and manage professional development and performance frameworks.
• Plan and coordinate training to equip managers in supporting team development.

As a Finance Manager at Cruse Bereavement Support you will oversee the day-to-day financial transactions made by Cruse Bereavement Support and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all income and expenditure transactions undertaken. Role Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for the smooth, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operation of the business centre. This includes oversight of facilities management, health & safety, lettings, team leadership, and budget management. The role ensures the business centre is well-maintained, tenants are satisfied, and operational performance is continuously improved. Role Responsibilities:

Centre Operations Management

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business centre, ensuring all facilities are well-maintained, compliant, and running smoothly.
• Ensure the lettings process is well-managed and aligned with policies.
• Implement and monitor operational procedures to improve efficiency and service quality, including opportunities to digitise processes and services.
• Contribute to strategic operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Building Maintenance

• Oversee the upkeep and preventative maintenance of the property, ensuring high facility standards.

• Conduct regular building inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.

Health & Safety

• Ensure compliance with UK health & safety regulations, including risk assessments and fire safety.

Lettings and Lease Management

• Oversee the Assistant Lettings Manager and monitor the development and execution of the lettings process from enquiry to move-in, including viewings, negotiations, and onboarding and offboarding of tenants.
• Check we are maintaining up-to-date tenancy records,
• Draft lease documentation and ensure timely renewals and support the rollout of any rent reviews.
• Carry out twice-yearly audits of lease documentation.
• Maintain relationships with tenants to support retention and satisfaction.
• Monitor lease management by team, lease compliance and resolution of any lease-related issues.

Customer Service

• Act as a point of contact for tenants, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
• Foster strong relationships with tenants, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement strategies to attract new tenants and retain existing tenants with the goal of maintaining high occupancy levels.

Financial Management

• Manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective management of resources and that projects are delivered within budget.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers to secure cost-effective deals.
• Ensure tenant arrears are regularly monitored and managed.

Line Management

• Lead, mentor, and manage the lettings and maintenance teams, ensuring high performance and productivity.
• Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
• Handle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding of staff members as needed.

Essential Skills / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Management, Project Management, or other relevant fields.

Sutton Community Works (SCW) is a Christian charity in South London. Sutton Foodbank is one of our faith in action projects and we are looking for a dedicated manager to oversee the smooth delivery of this amazing project supported by almost 100 volunteers!

Our vision is for our faith in action projects to contribute to a safe and flourishing community in Sutton.

Our work focuses on areas including food poverty, young people, rough sleepers and homelessness. In all our work, our ethos is to love God and others in all we do and say, ensuring people feel seen, heard, understood, and helped.

Sutton Foodbank has been helping people in food crisis since 2009, and supported nearly 4000 adults and children in 2024. We are open 5 times per week across 4 different venues and people are referred to by referral partners across the borough. Details of our sessions can be found on Sutton Foobank website.

Sessions are run by our dedicated volunteers who come from local churches; and our dependable warehouse, restocking and transport volunteers always ensure food gets safely to where it is needed.

People visiting the foodbank come from a vast variety of backgrounds but all have faced difficult life experiences. Beyond food, we also want people to access support to improve their situation, so we commision Citizens Advice to come to the foodbank sessions to help people maximise their income and provide advice on topics such as housing, debt and benefits.

And as a Christian project we underpin everything with prayer, and actively offer prayer to our clients too. The genuine care and compassion from our volunteers helps to build trusting relationships so we can more effectively listen, pray and signpost people to other support. 

As our Foodbank Manager, you can use your leadership experience, excellent communication and organisational skills and Christian faith in a way that makes a real difference in people's lives.

Occupational Requirement: This role involves offering and participating in Christian prayer with members of the public and volunteers, leading devotions and group prayers, and providing pastoral care and faith-based leadership to Christian staff and volunteers. It is therefore an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practicing Christian.

Role purpose is to:

• Manage smooth and safe day-to-day delivery of Sutton Foodbank, supporting volunteers and clients and ensuring food stock is sufficient and managed safely (65%)

About the role

The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role as a key advisor to the CEO, SMT and Board of Trustees, providing professional insights into financial matters to support effective planning and decision making. You will lead on all aspects of financial management including budgeting, accounting and compliance, financial management of grants and liaison with our auditors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Monthly/Quarterly reconciliation of balance sheet and Profit & Loss accounts.

• Manage accruals and prepayments.

• Reconcile intercompany accounts.

• Manage Withholding Tax certificates

• Maintain Fixed Asset Register.

• Produce timely, detailed, and accurate quarterly financial reports and cashflow forecasts with variance management, to enable management decision making and for submission to funders.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to produce an Annual Budget.

• Manage the organisation’s investment platform to maximise investment income and oversee cashflow management.

• Assist with the financial aspects of funding applications and monitoring reports.

• Manage audit compliance and the year-end audit process, providing the necessary information to external auditors.

• Complete statutory returns to Charities Commission and Companies House

• Manage Trustee governance at Charities Commission and Companies House

• Manage Gift Aid processing and HMRC returns.

• Manage all annual insurances and stakeholder pension scheme.

• Line-manage a part-time bookkeeper who oversees the purchase and sales ledger functions, bank payments and reconciliations, processing credit card and expense transactions, donation platform reconciliations and pension auto enrolment compliance.

• Provide ad hoc financial information to the CEO, SMT and Board as required.

• Be an active lead in the financial management of the company providing reports to the SMT, Board and funders

• Lead on providing insight into the financial aspects of the organisation’s activities.

ANTRUK is a small UK patient organisation for people impacted by antibiotic and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Our legitimacy to advocate for change, with policy makers and NHS organisations, comes from our research projects, our engagement with patients and their families, and from our direct support of patients through our information service and peer-support activities. In addition to our direct services, we have a fundraising team and a small central services function. 

We have an immediate need for a charity accountant, working remotely, for 4 days a month, to oversee our financial processes through to 31st January 2026.

The Spear Centre Manager will work as part of the River Church staff team to oversee the delivery of Spear—an employability programme equipping and empowering unemployed 16-24 year-olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

Salary: Up to £27,222 pro rata

Hours: Full-Time (4 days considered), Monday - Friday, 9.30am-5.30pm with some out-of-hours work needed for events such as our Spear Celebrations

Key Responsibilities

Oversight of the Spear Programme

Spear Foundation is a 4-week initial phase, consisting of 2 group sessions plus a 1:1 with each trainee per week, in which we coach young people around skills and mindsets to support them in returning to work or education, and equip them with the skills to stay there. ​

• Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Assistant Coach.
• Oversee all aspects of the programme coordination and delivery.
• Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report to Resurgo and the church on enrolment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees, as well as their ongoing progress.

Partnership liaison and relationship management

• Build and implement a strategy for developing and maintaining relationships with local referral partners to build the profile of the Spear programme within Ipswich and ensure the young people who would benefit from the programme are able to access it.
• Steward relationships with young people after initial point of contact, to encourage enrolment and ensure a full cohort is enrolled for each programme.

Line management and training

• Manage the Spear Assistant Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
• Work with and be managed by River Church staff locally, and by a Church Partnerships Manager from Resurgo on a national level, to ensure the flourishing of the Spear centre, its team and young people, and to ensure the fulfilment of our shared mission in Ipswich.
• Work with and report to Resurgo teams on KPIs, and use outcomes data to maximise the effectiveness of the programme.

Supporting River Church’s mission and ministry

• Establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement of church members and to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme, though it is not a requirement of the role for the successful candidate to join River Church as their worshipping community if they are already part of another local church
• Work with the Head of Operations and the Fundraising Assistant to prepare grant funding applications for Spear Ipswich, and provide timely grant reporting.
• Keep the River Church congregation updated on the Spear programme to ensure it is a seamless part of the church’s missional work.
