Coeliac UK currently has an exciting opportunity for a Food Policy Officer, to join our team in High Wycombe, with the possibility to regularly work from home by prior agreement with your line manager. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis. In return you will receive a competitive salary of £31,902 to £35,447 based on experience.

Coeliac UK represents over 60,000 members providing information and support to those affected by coeliac disease or following a gluten free diet. We also campaign on behalf of all those living with coeliac disease and undertake research into the causes of the disease.

The Food Policy Officer role:

As our Food Policy Officer, you will support the charity’s activities in relation to food policy and information with a focus on maintaining Coeliac UK’s food standards and food information

Key responsibilities of the Food Policy Officer:

• Monitoring Coeliac UK’s gluten free catering accreditation scheme including reviewing audit reports, feedback and corrective actions. To ensure menus and documentation are in line with Coeliac UK guidance.
• Working alongside the commercial team to assist caterers in their preparation for Coeliac UK’s gluten free accreditation scheme
• Attending meetings with caterers and manufacturers working with Coeliac UK.
• Managing the creation of quarterly reports for the gluten-free catering accreditation scheme
• Working with the Head of Food Policy in the development and review of food policy to draft policy positions and to contribute to the necessary intelligence gathering, horizon scanning and consultations to represent the charity.
• Being able to critically analyse the evidence and ensure that information on food and the gluten free diet is up-to-date.
• Providing administration for Coeliac UK’s Food Standards Committee.
• Contributing to the evidence base relating to food policy, standards, legislation and technology.
• Contributing to food research in order to develop the evidence base in the area of
  food and the gluten free diet, to inform charity policy and meet the charity’s
  business and strategic aims.
• Contributing to articles for Coeliac UK publications and consumer/trade press, as
  required.
• Representing and promoting the work of the charity amongst stakeholders from the
  food sector.
• Representing the charity by speaking at food events.

Essential experience, skills and knowledge required for the Food Policy Officer role:

• A motivated individual with initiative and a structured approach to work
• Good organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Educated to degree standard.
• Knowledge in the areas of quality assurance, food technology and nutrition
• Understanding of scientific evidence base and research.
• Numerate with necessary skills to produce, monitor and interpret audit information, quality assurance processes and guidance documents.
• Ability to critically review scientific literature.
• Good IT skills - MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Power Point.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing and Communications Manager to work with a youth charity in Burnt Oak.

Position: Marketing and Communications Manager

Location: Burnt Oak, London.

Salary: £34,000 - £38,000 depending on experience

About the role:

Communicating what the charity does is critical to their success, and this role will lead on this for three specific audiences: current and prospective donors; the local community; and the press. You will work closely with the Fundraising team to ensure that collateral is high-quality and donors are regularly hearing about the work of the charity. You will also devise new, innovative digital fundraising strategies, as well as having overall responsibility for the website.

Managing and working with the Marketing/Comms Officer, who will be hired soon after you start, you will also be responsible for marketing and communications aimed at young people and parents. This includes posters advertising events, banners, social media accounts, leaflets to display in the local areas, e-newsletters etc. You will also be responsible for either creating new video content yourself (or with the Marketing/Comms Officer) or finding creative and low-cost ways of generating it.

About you:

To be successful in the role of Marketing and Communications Manager you will be a role model for young people and present a positive “can do” attitude. You will also need to bring with you the following skills and experience:

• Proven Marketing & Communications experience
• Experience of developing and executing a marketing and/or communications strategy
• Experience of planning and managing income-generating campaigns – including monitoring budgets and expenditure (ideally in a charity but could also have been a sales campaign)
• Ability to use (or quickly learn) graphic design software (Canva and Photoshop)
• Experience of managing digital campaigns
• Experience of using a CRM system for logging and tracking stakeholder activity
• Experience in social media and website management
• Knowledge of how to implement an individual giving campaign
• Able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders

About the role

Location: Coventry (community based) with some elements of home working.

It is an exciting time to join Alzheimer's Society and the Group Facilitator role will ensure people affected by dementia are able to meet others in a similar situation, access the support they need whilst enjoying meaningful and often exciting activities, this is an exciting time for you to join us and make this role your own. 

We aim to support everyone affected by dementia, giving an opportunity to those attending this service to access elements of information. The role requires delivery of weekly and monthly face-to-face groups for people affected by dementia, including Activity groups, Singing for the brain and a Dementia café. (this list is not exhaustive) 

The successful candidate will be managing a supportive and experienced team of dedicated volunteers.

You will:

- Setup, promote, establish, organise and facilitate or deliver group(s) and ensure that all attending are supported to fully engage in the session. 
- Recruit and guide volunteers so that the volunteers have clarity about their roles and undertake appropriate training. 
- Take views and feedback of service users, taking into account the individual needs of members of the group. 
- Assist the service users to feel welcome and to understand the aims and benefit of the group(s), and welcome all new attendees, providing information about the group. 
- Proactively support an inclusive and welcoming working environment where all people we support feel able to be themselves. 
- Complete recording on our computerised systems to reflect safety of service in line with the society’s legal obligations and good practice.

About you

We are looking for a compassionate, supportive person with a good understanding of dementia and how it impacts both the person with the diagnosis and the carer. Our role requires excellent communication skills to engage people in group activities, ensuring the person with dementia can fully participate as well as the carer.

You will need:

- To understand the importance of volunteers in group services is essential, plus the ability to role manage volunteers to support them in their role.
- Good knowledge of dementia and an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers
- Experience of coordinating volunteers
- Excellent computer skills are required to facilitate virtual groups, and to complete accurate records on the computer system.
- The ability to travel independently to the locations the service covers.

The NGSN Communications and Partnerships Manager role is crucial to the successful coordination and delivery of the communications for GambleAware and the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN). The role will sit within the GambleAware communications team and will work in collaboration with the System’s Commissioning team, focused on building relationships with the National Gambling Support Network providers and act as an interface between the providers and GambleAware Communications team.

The Partnerships Manager will:

•  be the main point of contact for the NGSN providers on the day-to-day development and delivery of communications 
• be responsible for understanding the communications needs across the NGSN, working alongside the wider Communications team to address these needs, developing and delivering against a communications plan 
• encourage the uptake of communications assets and materials across the wider partnership network. 
• be responsible for upskilling providers in partnership activity and take a collaborative approach to working with those across the Network.

We're looking for an experienced and skilled individual who has a track record of delivering in partnership with a range of stakeholders. Who is confident in delivering communications across multiple channels in different styles and to a range of audiences. Someone who knows, from experience what it's like managing in-kind partnerships and who can show that they can build, manage and facilitate new relationships.

The Difference is a small and growing organisation, founded in 2017. They’re an agile and flexible team and you’ll be joining at a time of investment in fundraising, having recently employed their first full-time Head of Fundraising.  It’s an exciting time to join the organisation as they develop a new strategy to take them to 2030 with fundraising playing a key role in the organisation’s growth. They have a small but generous group of funders who have supported The Difference and as Trust & Foundations Manager you will work to grow the pipeline of trust funders and work closely with the Head of Fundraising to develop a fundraising strategy.

You will manage, develop, and grow The Difference’s portfolio of trusts and foundation donors, supporting to diversify their donor base and secure high value, long term support. This post will manage trust income in line with donor requirements, identifying and building relationships with new prospects and submitting high quality and engaging reports and proposals. You will feel real ownership over your work and need to be self-starting, flexible and hungry to grow with the charity.

The position will: 

• Write compelling funding applications and grant reports to trusts and foundations at 5- and 6-figure level
• Grow multi-year restricted and unrestricted income from existing and new donors and support the growth of overall income from £1.25m to £1.9m annually in next 3 years
• Work closely with the Head of Fundraising to support with strategy and growth plans
• Develop and expand meaningful engagement opportunities that can be offered to funders

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Experience developing bids and applications for 5+ figure grants
• Proven ability to write compelling, well-organised content which turns complex ideas and detail into summaries that can effectively engage different audiences
• Experience overseeing management of end-to-end stewardship journeys, from prospect to long-term engagement, and building relationships with foundation trustees and grant managers
• Knowledge and passion of working in the education sector

The Role

As a Partnerships Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of key charity partnerships, including Strategic Partnerships, Resilience Fund partnerships, and Development Fund partnerships. Your role will involve identifying new partners, fostering relationships, providing support, and managing grant processes.

Main responsibilities

Manage Charity Partnerships:

• Draft grant agreements and ensure timely grant payments.
• Build and maintain trust-based relationships with charity partners.
• Keep accurate records and provide strategic recommendations.

Lead Resilience Fund Programme:

• Develop and promote the programme's vision, outcomes, and assessment criteria.
• Maintain constructive relationships with applicants and support their funding requests.
• Assess applications and make informed funding recommendations.

Research and Development:

• Conduct research into social issues to inform their funding strategies.
• Share insights and learning opportunities with colleagues, stakeholders, and the wider sector.
• Plan and deliver learning events for charity partners.

Youth Engagement and Reporting:

• Identify and implement opportunities to involve young people in our work.
• Produce regular reports for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and Trustees.
• Participate in Committee meetings, providing updates on your areas of responsibility.

Essential requirements:

• Experience in the charity, community, or voluntary sector.
• A background in Grants, making ideally but will consider Grant proposal experience.
• Creative and resourceful, with strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with IT systems.
• Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively within a small team.

Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust is one of 46 local, independent Wildlife Trusts and is the charity that works to make the environment of Birmingham and the Black Country (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton) a better place for wildlife and people through conservation management, environmental education, advocacy, and community involvement.

As a wildlife charity serving a heavily urbanised area, a major element of our work is engagement with planning law and policy, through which we seek species and habitat protection along with wider nature recovery.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to nature’s protection and recovery in Birmingham and the Black Country. The post holder will engage with planning processes to advocate for nature, and in doing so will protect local wildlife of great value to people, communities and organisations across our region.

This will be a varied role that will include significant partnership working, engagement with land managers and owners, policy and strategy development, and responding to the demands raised by local planning applications and plan development. The successful applicant will be very well-organised, with a high level of attention to detail, and used to prioritising a complex workload. You will have excellent communication skills, and the confidence and ambition to affect outcomes within planning processes. Above all you will be driven by a commitment to see nature’s recovery across Birmingham and the Black Country’s urban landscape.

Flexible role, based in our offices within Birmingham, but with the option of working from home, as required. Occasional travel regionally and nationally.

Key responsibilities

Social media

• Maintain Blagrave’s social media accounts, and work with the wider team to ensure a regular social media presence for Blagrave.
• Research, create, and publish content for Blagrave’s social media platforms. This includes writing, getting approval and scheduling content, and creating appropriate imagery that is engaging and aligned to Blagrave’s style guide.
• Proactively monitor our social media channels, responding as relevant.
• Monitor social media outputs of other charitable foundations and youth organisations to inspire and inform Blagrave’s communications output.
• Strengthen Blagrave’s digital output/presence and reach by tracking analytics via monthly reporting on social media performance, making recommendations of how we can engage with audiences more effectively

• Regularly update and maintain the organisation’s website, liaising with colleagues to ensure all content is current and relevant.
• Publish regular blog posts and vacancies, when required.

Wider comms

• Liaise with colleagues in other teams to understand and support them in their comms needs, implementing internal / external comms initiatives as required.
• Design, draft and circulate internal and external comms outputs and suggest new ways to communicate our messages to our audiences.
• Be a guardian of Blagrave’s tone and brand identity, reviewing communications outputs prepared by the team.
• Share relevant comms assets and content to external stakeholders as required.
• Document Comms processes.
• Monitor Blagrave’s communication budget, liaising with the Head of Operations and Finance and Governance Manager.

Other

• Provide general support to the Blagrave team where additional capacity is needed across all areas of work.
• Represent the Blagrave Trust externally at meetings when required.

Our Finance Officer role is a vital part of our valued team. The finance function is integral to the effective operation of the organisation. Managed well it enables us to assess our financial stability and understand our capacity for growth and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities for the role:

• Managing accounts receivable/payable
• Reconcile bank accounts regularly including a final month end reconciliation for monthly reporting
• Process monthly payroll, manage NEST and HMRC
• Monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
• Answer queries from other departments about financial information
• Assist in the production of monthly management accounts, annual budget and statutory reporting
• Monitor the finance mailbox
