Direct reports: None Location: Our well-equipped office is in King’s Cross, London, WC1X 9NW. Staff are currently working in hybrid locations with a general requirement to meet colleagues once a week including a Communications team office day once a month, and an all-staff meeting in London five times a year, although we will always take into account personal circumstances.

Salary: D1L: £31,437 - £34,659 (possibly more for an exceptional candidate), plus benefits
Role Summary
Our Communications Officer plays a key role in our central Communications team, working collaboratively with colleagues to create impactful messages which are consistent, clear and well-planned. Through this work, you’ll support thousands of people across three key work programmes – Behaviour Change, Culture Shift and Information and Advice. You’ll have a particular focus in supporting the Senior Communications Manager with messaging across emails, our website and other digital channels, and play a key role in developing content with people who want to share their own experiences of alcohol and alcohol harm. You will have responsibility for wider tasks across the team, including monitoring inboxes, creating reports and supporting colleagues flexibly, particularly during busier campaign periods.
7 Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Communications and content
1. Support the Senior Communications Manager to develop year-round content strategies and planning
2. Create clear copy for a range of channels (including website, emails, social media) which influences and motivates audiences to take action and support Alcohol Change UK’s work
3. Ensure all communications are well-framed, on-message and fit with our brand guidelines
4. Lead on our monthly newsletter, developing, writing and scheduling on Mailchimp, and using reports and insights to think creatively about how to engage our audiences effectively
5. Play a coordinating role for the organisation’s wider email communications, collaborating with colleagues from other departments to ensure regular engagement emails are on message, and on brand
Website maintenance and development
1. Create clear, well-written content for our website – particularly focusing on engaging Information and Advice content
2. Make regular updates to website content, and troubleshoot issues as they arise
3. Ensure ongoing implementation of our Search Engine Optimisation and accessibility best practices
4. Support the Senior Communications Manager with annual planning and implementation of improved user journeys and experiences
5. Act as a champion for the website, developing relationships with colleagues from across the organisation to support new projects, content and campaigns across the site
Enabling people to share their experiences
1. Empathetically and respectfully work with individuals to share their stories, creating a wide range of content (blogs, quotes and case studies) to be used flexibly across Alcohol Change UK’s channels
2. Follow up leads for people who want to share their experiences publicly
3. Utilise our CRM system to manage relationships and coordinate content by themes
4. Support colleagues from all teams to include impactful personal experiences, bringing our content and campaigns to life
Team support
1. Monitor team inboxes including dryjanuary@ and contact@ ensuring great customer service and that all enquiries are dealt with in a timely fashion
2. Complete monthly team KPI reports, with a specific focus on email and website engagement data, providing analysis for optimisation throughout the year 8
3. As required, support the Behaviour Change team with Facebook Community Group monitoring, completing slots on the agreed team rota
4. Provide ad-hoc support to the Digital team with social media monitoring and responses as required
Cross-organisational Role
1. Work closely with colleagues across the Communications team and wider charity to support their work and to act as ‘one team’
2. Contribute actively and positively to charity-wide strategies
Other Duties
1. Continually develop your knowledge of alcohol harm and solutions to it
2. Act as a positive ambassador for Alcohol Change UK at all times
3. Know, embrace and actively uphold the values of Alcohol Change UK at all times
4. Work flexible hours as necessary to meet the needs of the charity – time off in lieu will be earnt for any work required outside of normal working hours
Support through campaign periods
The post holder will be expected to support the team with additional tasks through our busiest period from November-January. All members of the communications team are expected to work at times during the Christmas and New Year period, including bank holidays. A rota system is in place and Time of in Lieu is provided for additional hours worked.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people
Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health
• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.
Role Purpose
We are seeking to recruit a manager to lead a frontline team. This role will suit an experienced people manager who is friendly, kind and able to manage a busy workload. Someone who can motivate staff and volunteers, engage with elders and be solution focused.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the day to day running of the Elders Core Service as part of the wider Elders Programme. This includes the three day a week lunch club, transport offer and social sessions and one-off activities and trips.
• Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers. The team members include a cook, support worker, minibus driver and sessional workers such as exercise tutors.
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide this “hands on” programme which builds on older people’s strengths and potential.
• Manage the monitoring and evaluation of the project.
• Ensure the programme runs to budget.
• Support the planning of the core programme with Elders members themselves and with the wider team.
• Recruit, assess and support new and existing members (service users)
• Manage waiting lists for the programme
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Planning and oversight
• Working with the Head of Programme, ensure that all service output meets KLS’ vision, mission, values and charitable objects and with the Head of Programme, ensure the service meets the programme strategy and KLS’s 5-year strategy.
• Ensure the smooth delivery of core older people's activities throughout the week and organise, plan and promote agreed one-off activities throughout the year in a timely and planned manner.
• Manage the transport offer, including route planning and pick-up schedules of older people to and from KLS’ activities with the Minibus Driver. Ensuring the Minibus Driver maintains records.
• Ensure activity records and registers are kept accurately and up to date as well as case work notes for the core team, completing regular checks on this. We use a Salesforce Database for which training will be given.
• Actively support the social and support needs of our older people as appropriate, including safeguarding issues and being a first contact for compliments and complaints for the service.
• To be part of, and work closely with, the wider elder's team, sharing information regarding elders on a regular basis where appropriate.
• Conduct outreach and support work with older people in the community and on home visits and oversee the case work of the Core Team as well as having a small caseload. This does not involve advice work but is mainly signposting, referral and light advocacy.
Staff and volunteer management
• Take responsibility for the Core Programme. This includes line management of the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook and key relevant social activities workers and volunteers related to the core programme (we do also have a KLS Volunteer Manager who recruits volunteers).
• Ensure performance management and quality systems are used to monitor and evaluate the project’s work, processes and safeguarding.
• Managing individual volunteers as part of the Core Programme Team.
Relationships, comms and networks
• Continue to build and sustain strong relationships with our members.
• Contribute to comms for the service with the Head of Service. Oversee the comms for the Core Programme including the shared service newsletter, activities calendar, annual report and social media platforms.
• Attend meetings as requested on behalf of the Core Programme.
Finance
• Manage the project areas to budget, maintain basic financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme – in this instance this is usually a petty cash sheet.
Safeguarding
• Responsible for ensuring adherence to policies and procedures across the core team, ensuring that safeguarding is at the forefront of KLS’ delivery.
Undertake other duties
• Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisal; help to identify your own job-related development and training needs
• Undertake your role in a professional manner and maintain a high-quality standard of work in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of KLS
Skills and Experience
• Experience of working with older people in a community setting
• Experience of line managing a small team in a community setting
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including communicating with people from a wide range of backgrounds and when working individually or in groups
• Strong multi-tasking skills and time management
• Ability to work as part of a small team, whilst also working independently
• Experience of monitoring and evaluating projects effectively and ensuring that they are consistently meeting needs
• Understanding and experience of safeguarding, and health & safety in theory and in practice
• Excellent IT skills including MS Office suite and ability to use Internet, email and social media. Database experience would be an advantage (Salesforce)

Position: Marketing and Communications Manager
Location: Burnt Oak, London.
Salary: £34,000 - £38,000 depending on experience

About the role:
Communicating what the charity does is critical to their success, and this role will lead on this for three specific audiences: current and prospective donors; the local community; and the press. You will work closely with the Fundraising team to ensure that collateral is high-quality and donors are regularly hearing about the work of the charity. You will also devise new, innovative digital fundraising strategies, as well as having overall responsibility for the website.
Managing and working with the Marketing/Comms Officer, who will be hired soon after you start, you will also be responsible for marketing and communications aimed at young people and parents. This includes posters advertising events, banners, social media accounts, leaflets to display in the local areas, e-newsletters etc. You will also be responsible for either creating new video content yourself (or with the Marketing/Comms Officer) or finding creative and low-cost ways of generating it.
About you:
To be successful in the role of Marketing and Communications Manager you will be a role model for young people and present a positive “can do” attitude. You will also need to bring with you the following skills and experience:
- Proven Marketing & Communications experience
- Experience of developing and executing a marketing and/or communications strategy
- Experience of planning and managing income-generating campaigns – including monitoring budgets and expenditure (ideally in a charity but could also have been a sales campaign)
- Ability to use (or quickly learn) graphic design software (Canva and Photoshop)
- Experience of managing digital campaigns
- Experience of using a CRM system for logging and tracking stakeholder activity
- Experience in social media and website management
- Knowledge of how to implement an individual giving campaign
- Able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders

About the role

About you
To be successful in this role you must have demonstrable experience of developing and implementing a plan to grow Trust & Grant income, successfully meeting or exceeding fundraising targets from a variety of funders and experience managing relationships with statutory funders and trust and foundations. You will have experience of managing fundraisers and supporting them to manage their priorities and portfolios. You will have experience of measuring and monitoring income and expenditure, and team performance.
It's essential that you have excellent communication skills and can build relationships across the organisation to develop strong fundraising ideas and support engagement with senior staff in building relationships with trusts. You will have experience of managing donor funded grants including review of financial information, preparation of donor reports and donor compliance. You must have experience and knowledge of statutory and grant fundraising research tools and grant writing in the UK charity sector.

Strategy, planning and reporting

Trust, Major Donor, Corporate and Regular Giver Fundraising
- Identify and secure new trust and corporate funding relationships through database analysis, desk research, networking, formal presentations, and producing concept notes or proposals;
- Retain and maximise relationships with existing trust and corporate portfolio through designing and delivering bespoke annual engagement strategies, including exclusive and personalised reports, briefings, calls and proposals;
- Promote cross-department collaboration on trust and corporate fundraising to maximise both unrestricted and restricted fundraising, leading meetings, identifying synergies, and integrating pipelines and prospecting mechanisms;
- Identify and secure new major donors and regular givers, conceptualising and running acquisition campaigns alongside the HC&G;
- Identify potential major donors and high value regular givers within Afghanaid’s donor portfolio and implement plans to develop these relationships;
- Manage and maximise relationships with existing major donors and high value regular givers through designing and delivering annual engagement strategies, including reports, calls and proposals;
- Collaborate with colleagues to produce content for engaging monthly email newsletters for high value portfolio;
- Design and manage an annual campaign to upgrade existing regular givers;
- Secure match funding from key trust, corporate and major donors to maximise the success of events and appeals;
- Mobilise Board of Trustees and Directors to support with stewardship of high value donor relationships;
- Organise the annual high value donor dinner, compiling the invitee list, managing RSVPs and organising other logistics;
- Coordinate and attend other events and external fora, representing Afghanaid, networking and pursuing opportunities;
- Manage external platforms related to high value giving including Benevity, Global Giving and Myriad US, updating where appropriate in alignment with campaigns and appeals and actively identifying ways to maximise their use and join new platforms where appropriate;
- Work with colleagues to identify and pursue opportunities for gifts-in-kind or alternative high-value partnerships.
Data and administration
- Ensure all phone calls, meetings, emails and other engagement with trusts, corporates, major donors and high value regular givers are logged on Salesforce, ensuring records are clean;
- Work with the Database and Insights Analyst to conceptualise and implement key CRM processes that promote efficiency, accuracy and maximise the use of automations;
- Work with the Database and Insights Analyst and other C&G colleagues to ensure all donations from these donation streams are recorded and reconciled accurately on the database;
- Ensure Gift Aid declarations are sought from all eligible donors and appropriately filed;
- Liaise with colleagues to ensure funding contract requirements are adhered to;
- Monitor the Supporter Care email address to ensure all donors are receiving the best possible experience;
- Undertake any other duties as and when required by the line manager and/or overview manager.

We advocate and campaign, alongside our mums, on the issues which have the greatest impact on their lives. We have grown quickly since our birth in 2017, and we now support over 500 families a year with 11 members of staff and a turnover of approximately £500,000 pa.

We are looking for someone with a passion for writing and communicating with donors of different kinds. You will lead on all our fundraising, mainly from trusts and foundations but also developing new partnerships with corporate partners, with the support of our CEO and the full backing of our trustees. Purpose of the Role
The Helpline Manager will manage and provide support and advice to a team of Helpline Support / Case Workers and Helpline volunteers who will be handling calls. The role will also include occasionally providing helpline cover during staff shortages. The helpline supports women on more than 45 different issues with the majority of call related to various forms of violence and abuse as well as mental health and wellbeing.
The Helpline Manager will be responsible in ensuring that the service continues to be culturally sensitive and be able to respond to a diverse population of women with complex needs. A significant part of the role will encompass managing staff / volunteer rotas, monitoring staff performance, identifying and managing safeguarding issues, ensuring that the helpline database is being maintained and providing helpline data to other staff. The role will also include attending external stakeholder meetings and raising awareness of the helpline service. The Helpline Manager will also have some involvement in other MWNUK projects, services and activities as required. The role requires a proactive, organised and practical approach to ensure MWNUK’s projects are delivered effectively and efficiently, providing high quality support and customer service across the organisation, both internally and externally.
Main responsibilities
· Supervising the Helpline team of 11 staff (however this is equivalent to 3 full time staff per day only) and ensuring there is sufficient helpline cover and monitoring their wellbeing.
· Recruiting and training helpline volunteers and staff with the support of senior management and ensuring their development needs are flagged up.
· Monitoring performance of helpline staff through monthly supervision meetings and annual appraisals.

- Collaborate with the Communications Manager to create bespoke corporate sponsorship packages and marketing materials.
- Monitor and evaluate the success of corporate fundraising activities, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve targets.
Individual Donor Management
- Develop and execute a strategy to grow individual donations, including major gifts, regular giving, and one-off contributions.
- Identify and engage potential individual donors through research, networking, and targeted outreach.
- Craft personalised communication plans to build strong, long-term relationships with individual donors.
- Organise and manage donor recognition programmes and events to acknowledge and celebrate donor contributions.
