This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but ambitious grassroots charity run by and for women seeking asylum. WAST has a proud track record of providing a safe space for women to come together in solidarity and campaign for justice in an increasingly hostile environment.
We are looking for the right person to work alongside WAST’s management group of women seeking asylum to successfully take forward WAST’s development priorities – supporting women through the asylum system, campaigning on the issues affecting them and supporting wellbeing through a trauma informed approach. You will work to maintain and develop WAST’s infrastructure and resources to ensure its continued strength and stability.
You will need to have relevant experience in charity or public sector management and fundraising, with a positive participatory leadership style. You will have excellent interpersonal and partnership building skills with a commitment to supporting women seeking asylum and to WAST’s values of compassion, respect, inclusion and empowerment.
WAST has recently restructured and expanded its staffing team. As Manager, you will be assisted by two part-time coordinators: the Engagement and Programme Coordinator (an established member of staff) and a new Coordinator role, which you will be expected to help define and recruit.
This is an exciting time for WAST as we look to develop with the growing needs of our organisation.
Background Information
WAST is run by and for women seeking asylum and currently has around 170 members. It was started in 2005 by WAST’s current Chair whilst fighting her own anti-deportation campaign and became a constituted charity in 2014. Its purpose remains to provide a safe space for women coming together in solidarity to offer support, share information and help each other to survive and to get their leave to remain in the UK. Women are at the sharp end of the ‘hostile environment’ with punitive government immigration policies and practice. WAST enables a process of empowerment through which women gain the confidence and strength to voice their experience and campaign for justice.
WAST is a place of hope and belonging with its core values of compassion, respect, inclusion and empowerment and its continuous development of its trauma informed peer support approach.
WAST is proud of its pioneering work giving a voice to women seeking asylum and inspiring other women around the country to set up similar groups. WAST has been at the forefront of national campaigning against detention, has published three books and created two plays, giving voice to women’s experiences.
Activities are led by the WAST Management Group elected by the membership and supported by WAST staff, currently a part-time Engagement and Programme Coordinator (and we will soon be recruiting for a second part-time coordinator role).
Application information
The post is based at the WAST office in central Manchester with some opportunity for remote working. The post is for 28 hours a week.

Terms

LAWRS’ No Limits Project (Sin Fronteras) is a creative art-based project for Latin American girls and young women (LAGYW) aged 14 to 21. The project provides a safe space for LAGYW who are facing severe disadvantages due to intersectional inequalities. This holistic programme provides participants with support to address their needs and overcome barriers. It also offers opportunities for developing existing and new skills, as well as exercising critical thinking on issues that matter to them through the use of arts and campaigning work. The aim of this project is to enable participants to empower themselves and each other to seek the change they want to see in their lives, communities and wider society.
The post holder will join our Counselling and Psychotherapy team, providing emotional support sessions, clinical assessments and one-to-one short term therapy to LAGYW; delivering group work activities and psychoeducational workshops, dealing with internal and external referrals and working closely with the No limits (Sin Fronteras) Project Coordinator and other teams at LAWRS.

We're looking for a Policy and Research Manager to join our Campaigns team, to develop and deliver policy interventions and research projects to influence the Government and to create real change for women seeking safety.

To develop policy goals and recommendations in line with Women for Refugee Women’s (WRW) overarching campaigns strategy to improve the lives of women seeking asylum in the UK; to develop and deliver policy interventions such as policy briefings, evidence for Parliamentary committees, responses to inquiries and consultations; to plan and carry out research projects for influencing purposes, ensuring that these are informed by and co-delivered with women in WRW’s network.
Job Description
Strategy: To develop and set feasible policy goals over the short, medium and long term, in line with WRW’s overarching campaigns strategy to improve the lives of women seeking asylum, in consultation with the Campaigns team, and the women in WRW’s network; to provide regular analysis on the external context and assess the opportunities for bringing about policy change in order to inform the strategic direction of the Campaigns team.
Policy: To lead the drafting of policy documents including briefings for MPs, civil servants and other influencing targets, evidence for Parliamentary committees, responses to inquiries and consultations, etc.
Research: To identify research opportunities to advance WRW’s policy goals; to plan and write up research projects for influencing opportunities, ensuring that these are informed by and co-delivered with women in WRW’s network, and carry them out in partnership with the other staff of WRW and our campaigns groups.
Influencing: To identify influencing avenues to advance our campaigning goals, and work with the Campaigns team to develop and maintain relationships with civil servants, parliamentarians, opinion-formers and other stakeholders.
Law: To explore the potential for use of the law in achieving our policy goals, including working on possible strategic litigation in partnership with other organisations and with lawyers.
Communications and media: To work closely with the Campaigns team to give input and advice on WRW’s communications through mainstream and social media to ensure that these are accurate and well-targeted; to act as a spokesperson for WRW’s campaigns, including on media platforms and at events, panels and other platforms to reach target audiences.
Partnerships: To work closely with policy colleagues in the sector to share intel, pool expertise, and advance joint goals; to represent WRW at conferences and forums, consolidating and initiating partnerships with partner organisations and other stakeholders in order to drive forward our policy work.
Support to refugee women: To ensure that our policy work is informed by the experiences of women seeking asylum; to ensure that the women in WRW’s network have an opportunity to shape WRW’s policy goals and are kept abreast of developments in our campaign to achieve these.
Line Management: This role currently has no line management responsibilities but this may be introduced to the role at a later date, depending on the resourcing of the Campaigns team.
Organisational input
Grassroots: to work with the Grassroots team in ensuring that the women in WRW’s network understand the policy and research function of the organisation and are updated regularly about our progress towards achieving these.
Monitoring and evaluation: to assist with the evaluation and monitoring of WRW’s policy work and its effectiveness.
Support with fundraising: to support the work of the Grants Fundraising Manager through contributing to grants applications and reports.
Policy compliance: to stay well informed about WRW’s existing policies on issues such as safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection, to ensure that all policy and research observes the letter and spirit of such policies, and to keep up to date in developments in best practice in these areas, so that WRW remains a well-run and effective organisation.
Organisational: to participate in and support activities such as staff meetings and workshops aimed at building a stronger organisation.

Established in 1984, Asha Projects is a specialist Black and Minoritised women’s organisation run for and by South Asian women. We are seeking a Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Advisor to provide high-quality refuge accommodation and support. The role involves working within an intersectional framework to ensure inclusivity, liaising with agencies, providing advocacy and emotional support, and developing peer-to-peer support among residents. You will also manage housing, ensure health and safety, and handle financial responsibilities, all while maintaining professional boundaries and up-to-date case files.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working with women affected by domestic violence, strong advocacy skills, and a good understanding of social issues impacting South Asian women. Proficiency in English and a South Asian language, along with computer skills, is essential.
Flexibility Clause: To deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is required, and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties will fall within the scope of the job at the appropriate grade.

Projects supports women in the criminal justice system, in healthcare settings, and throughout the community, offering support to women and children experiencing domestic violence. Alongside this, we also have colleagues offering training and consultancy to businesses and health and social care professionals alike, raising awareness on gender based violence issues.

This role will work as part of the Management Team with specific responsibility for managing refuge accommodation, ensuring a high-quality service for women and children who have experienced domestic violence. You will also support and supervise a staff team, in the development and delivery of services for women and children in refuge.

Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) is an international non-governmental organisation which works to amplify the voices of rural women globally. Our small Central Office team work with member organisations and individuals in the UK and around the world to ensure that rural women are recognized for their critical importance in society, represented, and have a platform to influence policy makers. We combine advocacy and small-scale, women-led development projects designed by the local women who will implement them for the benefit of their communities.
This an exciting time to join ACWW in the lead up to our centenary and planning for our next Triennial World Conference in 2026. We are looking to appoint a Development Manager, to be responsible for developing and progressing strategies to develop and expand our funding partnerships, to maximise our reach and impact with our members and communities at large.
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Executive Director and working with colleagues and trustees to foster relationships, partnerships and collaborations with individuals, funders and networks in line with the Association’s objectives, priorities and values. Your work in identifying, cultivating business development and income generation opportunities, will make an important contribution to the sustainable financial growth of the Association.
