About us
Who we are
Imago Dei is committed to equipping women in the Criminal Justice System both in prison and in the community, helping them to unlock and live in their God given potential, set free from their past and living with hope for a better future. We aim to provide an holistic service, supporting women across the sector whilst in custody and after release.
Imago Dei have 4 different projects:
Imago Dei Prison Ministry
Have staff and volunteers working in 3 prisons, sharing the love of Christ through a practical and empowering range of rehabilitative activities / courses and support, helping to release women from the cycle of re-offence. In addition, we resource Chaplaincy departments and encourage women in their Christian faith by offering pastoral care, Bible study and prayer.
ID Essence
Is Imago Dei's young adult's project. It works with women aged 18 - 25 in 2 prisons and offers rehabilitative courses and mentoring support in prison. It then maintains mentoring support post-prison with it's 'through the gate' service in the community after release, seeing women positively re-integrated into society.
ID Grace House
Our new accommodation project for women leaving custody, helping them with the re-integration and resettlement process, offering support and life-skills training and a hope for a better future.
#SheMatters
Our community project and boutique charity shop that offers women in prison the opportunity to gain work experience whilst still in prison on day release, giving support that boosts confidence, self-esteem and helps with the preparation and transition of release and re-integration.
Also, offering Communty courses working alongside Probation in women's cenres in Kent, for women in touch with the Criminal Justice System.
