The Role

As Project Lead for United Learning, you have the opportunity to make a difference on a large scale.

In this role you will have two key responsibilities – to ensure the successful delivery of our group wide stakeholder surveys (to pupils, staff and parents) and to support with organisation-wide performance management. This role provides a unique opportunity to work with teams across United Learning’s central office and with schools.

You will ensure the successful delivery of our surveys programme including working with our partner, Edurio, to manage all aspects of technical set up and supporting schools to ensure they are prepared to deliver these surveys locally. You will shape and oversee the delivery of analysis based on survey results to ensure we are using this data to inform priority areas and improvements. You will look for ways to improve the set-up processes as well as how we use the data derived from the surveys.

Supporting with performance management you will monitor progress against our five-year strategy, annual plans and group wide KPIs, providing timely management information to our Executive Board and Trustees to ensure they are aware of key issues and have visibility of progress towards our strategic objectives.

As part of Strategy and Performance you will also have the opportunity to be involved in projects outside these main areas of responsibility.

You will be based in our London office, with occasional travel to other office and school locations. United Learning is happy to consider requests for flexible working, including hybrid home/office working.

About You

We are seeking someone with experience or an interest in strategic planning and performance management in complex organisations. You will have the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, be adaptable to change and work well under pressure. You will be able to present complex data and information clearly to others and in a way that aids decision-making.

You will have the ability to work through complex projects methodically, have an excellent eye for detail and be capable of managing competing demands. Formal project management experience would be an advantage.

This role would suit a candidate who takes satisfaction from improving processes year on year with the curiosity to try new ways of working to bring about improvements and efficiencies.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Westway Trust as an Adult Learning Tutor (ESOL), starting in September 2024. 

Westway Trust is a community-guided organisation located in North Kensington which runs an adult learning programme of accredited and non-accredited provision across a range of subjects. We aim to enable people to progress in work, in learning and in life.  Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and have different prior experiences of learning.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ESOL Tutor to design and deliver high quality learner-centered teaching and assessment experiences to our adult learners from pre-entry level up to level 1, whilst supporting the Adult and Community Learning Manager to achieve the Trust’s strategic objectives.

This is a sessional term-time role.  Working hours will be discussed and agreed at the interview stage.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Teaching

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners, ensuring learning objectives are met.
• Assess learners’ abilities and identify areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly.
• Develop and deliver consistently engaging and interactive sessions, utilising a variety of teaching techniques and materials to enhance learners’ understanding and engagement with the subject/topic.
• Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their learning and improvement.
• Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, actively promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in professional development.

Administration

• To identify materials and equipment/resource needs to assist the provision of teaching and learning by students.
• Maintaining up to date course files and submitting accurate data on attendance and achievement within agreed deadlines.
• Preparing groups of learners for accredited assessment (exam or portfolio) & non-accredited assessment (RARPA), marking assessments and taking part in internal moderation and/or consultation meetings with appropriate Trust staff.
• Providing feedback on appropriate documentation for example observation, IQA reports etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential

• Proven successful track record of planning and delivering high quality teaching of accredited and non-accredited provision in a relevant subject and at appropriate level(s).
• Experience of teaching adult learners of mixed abilities and an understanding of appropriate teaching strategies in a similar role.
• Experience of devising course outlines and schemes of work.
• Experience of assessing and recording progress, both in accredited and non-accredited learning and supporting learners.
• Knowledge and experience of working with a variety of exam boards.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team.

Desirable

• Understanding of the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement in non-accredited learning) system.
• Experience of working/teaching refugees and or asylum seekers.
• The ability to speak another language.

Qualifications:

• Hold a recognised teaching qualification such as CELTA, DELTA or TESOL or

The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day-to-day management of their designated service, including line managing the relevant front-line staff. The role of an IDVA is to address the safety of victims and survivors at high risk of harm. IDVAs work with their customers from the point of crisis by safety planning and risk assessing using the DASH to ascertain the level of risk to the victim. Our highly committed Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the North East England & Yorkshire Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the North East England or Yorkshire region, which includes North, South, East and West Yorkshire, Teesside, County Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. There will be occasional travel around these areas and you may be required to travel at short notice for face to face meetings.

The post is part time, three days per week, working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays.

About the team

The team works remotely and prides itself in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the eight SSAFA branches in these regions, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The wider support team includes a Casework Manager and a Regional Operations Manager.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as, housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR, along with experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families, along with supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the North East & Yorkshire would be valuable.

We are seeking a Mission Enabler, Regional Mission to work in partnership with key staff across the Movement. They will provide direction and energy to Scripture Union’s Regional Ministry with a focus on establishing and sustaining ministry opportunities. This will require the person to recruit, motivate, train, equip and support a large number of volunteers/Faith Guides, with whom they work in partnership as well as leading by example, through the modelling of excellent mission delivery to children and young people consistent with Scripture Union’s mission. The successful candidate will:

· Identify, recruit and support Faith Guides, volunteers and Local Mission Partners (LMPs) through a range of methods, including electronic, phone and face to face.

· Provide relevant coaching and/or mentoring, equipping and resourcing for Faith Guides, volunteers and LMPs.

· Lead local mission activity within Scripture Union’s mission framework, establishing a clear hand-over process and timetable to local church partners.

· Pioneer new approaches/ideas in line with SU’s strategy that have the potential to be replicated elsewhere and lead to a greater scale and depth of mission activity.

· Support, by promotion or direct involvement,  SU’s wider programme of holidays and missions across England and Wales and, if appropriate, internationally.

· Undertake specific fundraising activities and approaches in line with SU’s fundraising approach.

We are recruiting for a Senior Youth (Support) Worker to join our small, friendly team.
