Silver City Surfers (SCS) is a local charity which has been operating since 2005 providing people with the opportunity to learn basic computing skills, including use of email and the internet. Increasingly, we are helping our learners to make the most of smart phones and tablets.

We are currently looking to recruit new Trustees to join our Board so we can continue to support older people to ensure that they are not left behind by the advances in technology. You don’t need specific skills, just a willingness to help our charity continue to provide a lifeline for older people. Training can be provided.

Trustees meet 1x per month to make sure that the organisation is running well and that our plans are properly implemented. They form the Management committee of the charity and have responsibility for making sure that SCS is doing what it is set up to do. We are fortunate to have amazing coordinators who are responsible for the day to day running of our sessions and recruiting and supporting our volunteers.

Sutton Mental Health Foundation was established as a charity in 1998. Its aim is to support individuals experiencing serious mental health issues in the London Borough of Sutton. We aim to keep such individuals well and active helping them to have a voice in the provision of mental health care in the Borough.  Our vision is to provide a community in Sutton which values mental wellbeing and understands how to respond positively to individuals’ anxiety and distress.  The Foundation works together to promote mental wellbeing resilience and recovery from mental distress.We provide nonclinical support through our Intentional Peer Support programme together with a Day Service and a Crisis Cafe at our centre in Belmont. We receive funding mainly from the NHS and the London Borough of Sutton although we are part of the Voluntary Sector. 

We are seeking to add to the expertise of our experienced, professional Board of Trustees all of whom are volunteers.  All our Trustees require excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, strategic vision and good independent judgement. Although not limited to, we would particularly value the experience and skills in the following areas : 

• Company Secretary/Legal Experience 
• Fundraising in the following areas – Grant, Corporate and Public 
• Marketing 

Lived or shared experience of mental health – desirable.

The London Canal Museum is an independent and self-financing museum in London’s vibrant Kings Cross area, and we are currently looking for two additional Trustees to join our Council of Management.

· Be part of the Museum’s management team, running the museum as a business, and formulating and implementing plans for the future as a member of the Council of Management

It Gets Better UK envisions a world where all LGBTQ+ youth are free to live equally and know their worthiness and power as individuals. We strive to tell the stories of LGBTQ+ people and to provide positive and reassuring messages to LGBTQ+ youth.

Founded in 2010 in America, the It Gets Better Project has since grown into a global movement, with affiliated charities in 20 different countries. We launched in the UK in October 2018 and have grown significantly since then. Roles and responsibilities

As a trustee, you will play a critical role in guiding our strategic direction, ensuring good governance, and supporting the delivering of our mission. Your responsibilities will include:

• Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with fellow trustees and staff to develop and implement strategies that align with the charity’s goals and ensure its sustainable growth.
• Advisory Role: Provide expert advice in your area of expertise, whether that be corporate partnerships, legal matters, charity growth, or community engagement.
• Support and Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for the charity, promoting our work and engaging with key stakeholders to advance our mission.
• Operational Input: While our board is transitioning from an operational to a more strategic focus, trustees will still be expected to take on functional roles as needed, especially in areas where the charity requires additional support

Time commitment

• The Board meets at least four times a year.
• It is expected the trustees spent at least two hours a week on their duties.
• As we continue to transition our board to a more strategic focus, trustees may be asked to support operational tasks on an as-needed basis.

Gospel Oak Action Link Youth Club (GOALYC) is a Camden based Charity providing at no cost to our users, a rich variety of sports, music, education and other activities to mostly disadvantaged young people in the Gospel Oak area. We offer training and employment opportunities for older teenage members, helping to boost their skills, self-confidence and aspirations, regardless of background or learning abilities. 

Our Trustees will guide the charity's direction, upkeep, and policies, making key decisions that create a positive difference to our youth. This involves: 

• Overall strategy decisions. 

• Organise fundraising. 

• Liaising with our partner organisation, QCCA. 

• Reviewing grant applications and reports to funders. 

• Board Meetings three to four times a year. 

Appointment is subject to a DBS criminal records check, references and board approval.

Vacancy - Chair of the Board of Trustees Barbara Bus Fund, Stanmore

The Barbara Bus Fund is recruiting for a new Chairperson.

The Barbara Bus Fund is a registered charity, which was set up in 1968 to help people who cannot get out or use public transport or an ordinary car, because they have a disability that necessitates full-time use of a wheelchair.

Today the BBF operates a fleet of 16 specially converted vehicles from Stanmore, Aylesbury and North Wales. The BBF is operated by a combination of paid and volunteer staff with head office at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

The role of Chair is a voluntary position with the requirement to commit to one to two days per month, attend online meetings every 6-8 weeks and the AGM. The Chair will lead the Board of Trustees, chair committee meetings and the AGM.

Previous trustee / charity experience is required and the commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. Previous experience within the health / care / transport sectors will be a distinct advantage however, other relevant experience and the right attributes will also be considered.

The BBF holds an annual meal to thank the volunteers and staff, and there are other periodic meetings and events throughout the year.

The Ryan Neuro Therapy Centre supports people with neurological conditions by delivering physiotherapy and other therapies to benefit their health and welfare in a caring, friendly, and supportive environment. We are a small self-funded charity in Coulsdon, reliant entirely on fundraising and donations to provide the income needed each year to run the Centre. The organisation took on charitable status in 1995 supporting people living with Multiple Sclerosis. In 2023, we expanded our provision to support other neurological conditions. The Charity has 18 members of staff (all part-time), 15 volunteers and over 100 members with neurological conditions.

Share Psychotherapy (Share) is recruiting for a Chair to lead our board of trustees.

We are in an exciting phase of development, strengthening our core clinical team, improving administrative and business systems and solidifying our financial position. We want to build upon our position as a centre of excellence in psychotherapy, by significantly increasing engagement of users, and to make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield.

The Chair of the Board will provide leadership as we develop and grow. Using your skills in leadership, communication, integrity and openness, you will work alongside the other trustees on the board to drive the ambitious vision for Share’s future and guide the staff and large volunteer base. The following areas represent the main elements of the role. Key activities that will usually be the responsibility of the Chair are:

Discovery Multi-Academy Trust was formed in 2016 and is the result of the amalgamation of three primary schools from across the Plymouth area; including Oakwood Primary Academy, Beechwood Primary Academy and Weston Mill Community Primary Academy. The GRAB Trust was established to address waste and recycling issues in Argyll & Bute and this year is celebrating its 25th year! The GRAB Trust exists to seek the preservation and maintenance of the outstanding natural quality of Argyll and Bute’s environment by participating in and encouraging sustainable environmental and waste management activities by the wider Argyll and Bute public.

GRAB recognises that the key to its work continuing successfully is through engaging the local community - the public need to be interested and active in sustainable environmental projects. They need to be suitably informed of the relevant issues and offered a range of accessible, enjoyable and rewarding community projects:

Introduction to the role: 

The Chair of Trustees will provide leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees and centre staff ensuring that the governance and strategic direction of the charity is being fulfilled. The Chair will support and sometimes challenge the team and ensure the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the wider team to achieve our aim to continue to be an exceptionally well run and sustainable organisation so that we can make the greatest practical impact for people managing their lives with MS.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Leadership and Governance 

• Provide leadership to the charity and team ensuring the charity has the maximum impact for members and users and follows the vision/missions stated in the Strategic Plan. 

• Ensure the Board and Staff fulfil their obligations, duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. 

• Ensue the Board operates within the charities objectives as stipulated within the Articles of Association. 

• Lead the Board and ensure it operates as a team, engaging all Trustees and fostering a culture of open discussion and debate. 

• Ensure the operation of the centre is realised and systems are in place to manage and mitigate risks 

• Chair bi-monthly Board Meetings and other meetings such as Finance and Health and Safety where appropriate. 

• Act as the support mechanism and critical friend for the Centre Manager and team for operational and strategic queries. 

• Work with Trustees and the Centre Manager to recruit and appoint new Trustees and staff and ensure they receive induction, training and support. 

• Undertake an annual appraisal for the Centre Manager. 

• Perform annual remuneration reviews in consultation with the Board.

Overview

Charity Purpose

• Raise funds for research into the cause, prevention and management of dementia.
• Allocate funding to university research project meeting the highest academics standards.

Objective

• Holds the Executive team and the Board to account to:
  - remain focussed solely on the BRACE stated purpose
  - remain compliant with all English and Welsh laws and the regulations of the Charity Commission.
• Support the Chief Executive in ensuring both the Board members and Executive team work closely together to achieve the agreed strategic objectives.
• Act (in partnership with the Chief Executive) as an ambassador and the public face of BRACE.

Charity Structure

• BRACE the charity has a sole Trustee “BRACE Trustee Limited”. All members of the Board are Directors of BRACE Trustee Limited and act as Trustees of BRACE. There are up to 15 directors of BRACE Trustee Limited who for reasons of clarity are called Trustees.
• The Chair and Trustees are usually appointed for a fixed term of 4 years which can be renewed once, enabling Trustees to serve for a maximum continuous term of 8 years.

Meetings

• Board meetings are held 4 times a year plus 1 awayday. Each meeting is +/- 4 hours.
• There are currently 3 sub-committees of the Board (Scientific Advisory Committee [SAC], Finance and HR). The 3 sub-committees meet no more than one month before the board meetings either in person or on Zoom. SAC reviews applications for grants and makes recommendations to the Board for approval.
• Board Meetings are generally held in person in the Bristol area, online or hybrid meetings are not encouraged but can be facilitated.

The organisation:

The GRAB Trust was established to address waste and recycling issues in Argyll & Bute and this year is celebrating its 25th year! The GRAB Trust exists to seek the preservation and maintenance of the outstanding natural quality of Argyll and Bute’s environment by participating in and encouraging sustainable environmental and waste management activities by the wider Argyll and Bute public.

GRAB recognises that the key to its work continuing successfully is through engaging the local community - the public need to be interested and active in sustainable environmental projects. They need to be suitably informed of the relevant issues and offered a range of accessible, enjoyable and rewarding community projects:

* To promote increased levels of re-use through the landmark Lorn & Oban Reuse Initiative (LORI) in order to for Argyll and Bute become a Zero Waste society; offer volunteering opportunities for more local people; and offer opportunities for the long-term unemployed and community service offenders through their pioneering training and job search programme

* The promotion of beach cleaning and marine issues through continuing delivery of the Argyll and Bute Beaches and Marine Litter project

* Delivery of community clean-ups around beaches and roadside verges utilising publicly funded litter grants

* The delivery of professional waste, recycling and wider environmental education, awareness and training activities to all sectors of the Argyll and Bute public including schools, households, businesses and visitors

* Fostering, encouraging and supporting local community involvement and participation in a range of sustainable, recycling and environmental projects across Argyll and Bute.

The opportunities:

Traditionally, GRAB trustees have been residents of the Argyll and Bute area but GRAB would also welcome interest from candidates who are from further afield. New trustees are sought who offer insights and experience in:

• Buildings and properties maintenance and development, such as improvements and renewals to drive income from current GRAB buildings and securing new facilities for expansion;
• Any type of recycling programmes and/or environmental protection;
• Fundraising, in particular trusts and foundations or securing governmental/grants funding;
• Stakeholder or partnership development, locally and beyond the Argyll and Bute region

Are you passionate about issues affecting women and want to work to make a real difference to the community? Anawim – Birmingham’s Centre for Women - is looking for an inspiring and dynamic individual to join us as the Chair of Trustees.

About Anawim:

Anawim is a Birmingham charity committed to working with and for women. We offer gender-responsive and trauma-informed support, to enable women to reach their potential. We do this through wraparound services including long-term specialist provisions alongside other practical resources, both in the community and in prison. Our vision is for a world where women and girls are safe, free, valued, and empowered members of society. We are based in a diverse area and seek to represent the women we work with.

Role: Chair of Trustees

As the Chair of Trustees, you will be pivotal in guiding Anawim’s strategic direction and ensuring we achieve our goals. You will lead our Board of Trustees, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the senior leadership team to provide strong governance, oversight, and support.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and inspire the Board of Trustees to fulfil its governance responsibilities.

· Ensure the charity is compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.

· Support the CEO and senior management in delivering Anawim’s strategic objectives.

· Foster a collaborative and inclusive board culture.

· Act as an ambassador for Anawim, promoting our work and expanding our network of supporters and partners.

· Oversee the financial health and sustainability of the organisation.

What We Are Looking For:

· Proven experience in a leadership role, ideally within the charitable or public sector.

· Strong understanding of governance, finance, and strategic planning.

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

· Passion for women’s rights and social justice.

· Ability to commit time to attend board meetings and events and provide guidance as needed.
