About us

Who we are

The Barbara Bus Fund is a registered charity which provides wheelchair accessible vehicles for loan to those in need.

With Head Office at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, The BBF was started in 1968 by Barbara Werndly, herself a wheelchair user and inpatient at the hospital.

Today the BBF operates from 3 branches in Stanmore, Aylesbury and North Wales with 16 vehicles converted to carry 1, 2 or 3 wheelchair passengers safely and in comfort.

Our culture and values

Any wheelchair user who is unable to safely transfer to travel in a standard car seat is entitled to use the BBF services.
