We are looking for someone to join our team as a Risk Manager, to manage and improve Battersea’s existing enterprise risk management approach at a strategic and operational level. 

To be successful in this role, you will have strong experience of being a risk leader, a comprehensive understanding of enterprise risk management, and practical application of risk management across a similarly sized organisation, with significant analytical skills.

As Director of Services and Grants, you will be responsible for ensuring that our multi-channel services and grants programme serve and improve the lives of older people, reach those who are most likely to be in poverty, and have the maximum impact.  You will help us grow our capacity, build our network of charity and commercial partnerships, develop our external training offer, and reach more people including those groups most likely to experience financial hardship. 

Having operated at a senior level, ideally as part of a Senior Leadership Team, you will be an inspiring leader with a demonstrable passion for our cause.  Experienced in successfully managing service transformation and development, including in a contact centre environment, you will also have an understanding of grants programmes, and of building strategic partnerships and national networks.  With an understanding of demonstrating and reporting on impact, experience of supporting fundraising for services and bidding for contracts, you will ideally also have knowledge of developing an external training offer.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, which you can choose to work over five days a week or a 9-day fortnight.

The Philanthropy Manager is a key member of the Philanthropy & Partner Engagement Department within War Child’s award-winning Fundraising team. Working closely with the Philanthropy Lead (line manager) and Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will manage a portfolio of major donors at 5- and 6-figure level to support a team target of c£1.4M.

Results oriented, you will have strong interpersonal and management skills together with a flexible and proactive approach. This is a great opportunity for a motivated relationship fundraiser with a passion for international development to join a successful and ambitious team.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will: 

• Identify and qualify a pipeline for up to 6-figure gifts for both unrestricted and restricted giving
• Lead and be supported on building an excellent stewardship programme, supporting relationship managers across the team to deliver sector leading supporter journeys
• Develop and implement strong cultivation and solicitation plans for existing donors to generate significant income from the portfolio. This will include personal meetings, attending networking events, writing proposals/reports and making presentations
• Take an active role where relevant, on the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of philanthropy events, including events that are hosted by Ambassadors

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Experienced in a similar fundraising role, with a knowledge of major donor fundraising, ideally within an international development or humantarian NGO
• Ability to input into fundraising strategies with a track record of securing 4-5 figure gifts and delivering against targets
• Experienced in stewardship strategies for major donors or the development of supporter journeys in order to retain donors
• A relationship focussed approach with strong networking skills at senior levels internally and externally

The main duties of the role

To deliver the IntoUniversity programme effectively to children and young people in different settings, including schools-based workshops, Academic Support sessions and educational visits. This includes positive behaviour management and adherence to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

• To assist with the organisation and delivery of the Academic Support, FOCUS and Mentoring Programmes.
• To assist the IntoUniversity Centre Leader in liaising with schools and other partner bodies, in organising the classroom and resources and in planning project delivery. 
• To update and maintain IntoUniversity displays, publicity and resources.
• To work with the IntoUniversity Centre Leader to recruit children and young people to the programme, including after-school Academic Support and FOCUS Weeks. 
• To develop educational resources and worksheets for use across all IntoUniversity programmes. 
• To ensure compliance with all necessary regulations and legal requirements, including the Children’s Act,  Children and Young People (Scotland) Act, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act, Protection of Vulnerable  Groups (Scotland) Act, and legislation and policies related to Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety.

Contract
Permanent, part-time

Start date

Working hours

• 16 hours per week
• Monday, Thursday 14:00-18:00; Tues, Weds 13:30-17:30 
• Local school term-times only (excluding public holidays)

Days of employment (if term time only)
You will be employed 188 days (of 4 hours each) per year, made up as follows: 

• 164 days of work (inclusive of additional days below)
• 18 days of paid annual leave (to be taken outside of local school term times and on any bank holidays  occurring during term time). For the avoidance of doubt, non-working time during school holidays which is in excess of your holiday entitlement shall be unpaid.

Additional 32 hours (or 8 days of 4 hours each)

These will be agreed between you and your line-manager, and may include days during school holidays. They will typically include three whole team meetings, one delivery team meeting and the annual staff conference. These will be pro-rated based on when you join in the academic year.

Although an understanding of the Criminal Justice System is ideal, we can teach you that. What we cannot teach are the skills to understand the challenges that volunteers face, how to hear and support them when they face these challenges and how to keep them engaged and motivated to support victims of crime.

About the role:

This job cannot be home based and you will need to be able to travel across Kent and Medway.
You will be Supporting and managing existing volunteers in Kent and Medway
Recruit new volunteers from the various communities in Kent and Medway to build a volunteer team that better reflects the communities we wish to serve
Introduce new volunteering roles to the local service and recruit into them
Build strong working relationships with volunteer bureaus, higher/further education colleges and other agencies across Kent and Medway to raise the awareness of volunteering opportunities with Victim Support
You will also need to build our online and real-life media presence to raise the profile of our service in Kent and Medway
On a daily basis you will need to be in contact with Volunteers, the local Senior Management Team, local Team Leaders, Caseworkers, the Hate Crime Advocate and Stalking Advocates

You will need:
To be able to work independently against an agreed plan
To remain empathetic whilst developing the confidence of volunteers to hold safe but challenging caseloads
Able to work in partnership with other agencies and with team members.
Resilience. This is a busy job with multiple demands on your time so you will need to remain focused on what your priorities are.
You will need to be comfortable talking to various individuals and groups about the work that we do and look to develop a volunteer team that reflects the communities that we serve.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy, and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Brain Injury Community Service.

Purpose 

We’re looking for someone who wants to combine their passion for social change with their commitment to digital communications. The person in this role will line manage a small and talented team of two officers (Marketing and Content, and Digital Communications), and should enjoy supporting others to flourish through a kind and relational approach. 

Part of a busy department of specialists in communications (including digital and press), public affairs and policy, you will play a critical role in shaping our digital engagement strategy through our website, social media channels and email marketing. Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will play an integral role in shaping the digital strategy, while ensuring that colleagues develop their capacity and understanding of how to use digital tools most effectively.

Main Responsibilities 

Working as the Digital Engagement Manager for Citizens UK, reporting to the Director of Communications, your main responsibilities will include: 

Situational Awareness and Research 

• Lead the team in conducting stakeholder analysis; identifying and segmenting audiences and their positions and interests. 

• Confident to test and learn from new digital and marketing approaches 

Strategy Development 

• Participate in development of the communications strategy, contributing tactical and creative ideas around implementation. 

• Shape digital engagement and marketing strategy, ensuring that plans deliver against the influencing goals; evaluating effectiveness of the strategy and adjusting as required. 

• Work with project teams to support the development of tailored digital strategies 

Reputational & Risk Management 

• Demonstrate awareness of potential reputational risks and proactively develops appropriate protocol and messages, including expected professional fundraising standards. 

• Effectively represents Citizens UK with senior stakeholders 

Materials Development & Dissemination 

• Demonstrate a track record of effective supervision and quality control of output – critically ensuring compliance with plan and audience appeal. 

• Ensure all work is completed within brand guidelines. 

Digital, social media and website 

• Able to lead the team in the use of social media to increase brand awareness and impact; able to generate innovative approaches.  

• Lead on supporter engagement through Action Network, building the capacity of Organisers and community leaders to effectively use digital campaigning tools 

• Work with developers to maintain and update website CMS, support the team in creating news and blog content and help upskill colleagues to create content for the website. 

External Relationships  

• Manage relationships and communication with external suppliers where required 

Campaign and Events Management 

• Take an integrated communications approach to digital engagement activity. 

• Identify opportunities, initiate and grow new campaign tactics. 

• Establish systems for monitoring and evaluating key performance indicators and delivering to time and budget. 

Internal Comms & Knowledge Management 

• Identify gaps in our internal knowledge management in digital practices and strengthen these with clear processes and documents to drive best practice amongst wider team. 

• Adopt a strong solution focused approach to help teams overcome any challenges and maximise their digital engagement efforts  

• Provide training to key members of staff to upskill colleagues. 

• Act as a brand ambassador for the whole organisation. 

Internal Relationships 

• Provide line management support and leadership on our digital engagement, ensuring colleagues feel supported, developed and valued 

• Ensure the work produced across the team is of high quality, and reflective of Citizen UK’s values 

• Provide digital support and advice to colleagues across chapters and projects 

• Work closely with project leads across our migration work to coordinate digital engagement tactics. 

• Liaise with other managers and teams within the charity effectively.

About Love Barton 

Love Barton is a faith based charity established in 2022 to tackle systemic issues that keep people and families in poverty and to release them to flourish in all areas of life, focused on the Barton estate on the outskirts of Oxford. 

The charity originally grew from Barton Community Church and continues to operate in close partnership with this Church. 

About the Role

The focus of the role is to lead Love Barton during the Charity Manager’s maternity leave, managing the existing projects detailed below, as well as working with the Trustees on fundraising. 

Projects

Health & Wellbeing: 

Hear4You is a listening service set up to support people in the community who are struggling emotionally. We receive referrals from our local GP surgery and people are matched with a volunteer listener for up to twelve 1-2-1 sessions. 

We also run an emergency foodbank twice a week in partnership with CEF , and are in the process of setting up a pantry in partnership with Mercy in Action to support 25 struggling families with ongoing food poverty support. This will be delivered by volunteers but will need general oversight from you. 

Your job would be to:

• Recruit, train and support volunteers

• Manage these projects to ensure they run smoothly and safely

Youth:

Know Your Worth is an eight week self esteem course for teenage girls run twice a year for local young people followed by 6-12 months of mentoring. We have a small team of volunteer mentors and a trained volunteer leader who runs the course. 

We are also setting up regular opportunities to gather the girls who have completed the Know Your Worth course for ongoing support. 

Your job would be:

• Support the Know Your Worth Leader (volunteer role) in organising and running our Know Your Worth course for teenage girls, overseeing sign ups, communications with families, safeguarding and health & safety.

• Recruit, train and support volunteer mentors to ensure mentoring programme runs effectively and safely. 

• Develop and manage our monthly/termly sessions for those who have attended a Know Your Worth course

Flourishing Families:

In response to local need, we want to provide support for families before they reach crisis points. We do this through 1-2-1 pastoral support and the Kids Matter Parenting courses as well as hosting seasonal family events and a weekly toddler group that’s run in partnership with Barton Community Church. 

Your job would be:

• To provide and coordinate targeted pastoral care to individual families in need. 

• To organise and deliver a termly, seasonal community event ideally in partnership with other local groups and organisations

Other key tasks/responsibilities 

• Enable the work, relationships and partnerships of Love Barton to continue and, expand the reach, visibility and community integration of the charity 

• Network with other key providers and stakeholders in Barton and attend community meetings to represent Love Barton 

• Work with the trustees to identify funding streams to sustain the role and projects

• Lead all recruitment, training and management of volunteers including ensuring safeguarding training and DBS certificates are up to date 

• Line-manage any sessional staff

• Manage the budgets for each project, evaluating outcomes and supporting the reporting to funders and trustees 

• Meet regularly with the BCC leadership team to ensure a close partnership 

• Attend regular supervision and commit to personal development
