About the role
 
Location: Community based in London with some homeworking elements. 
Contract: Fixed term post until 30th September 2026.

In this role, you will work with local communities to build trust and raise awareness of dementia and our information, support and services. You will attend and organise events, build relationships and manage volunteers across the region.

Working closely with the Local Communities and Volunteering Lead and Local Services Manager, you will deliver our planned community engagement activity, with a particular focus on reaching underserved communities. You will also create opportunities to stay connected with our volunteers by supporting in organising volunteers networking and events both online and in person.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with an understanding of dementia, the needs of people affected by dementia, and experience of working with the underrepresented communities. 

You will essentially have experience in coordinating and delivering talks, presentations and information sharing events to a range of external stakeholders which include faith groups, voluntary and community-based organisations, and others. Experience of working with volunteers, managing them and providing training support would be ideal.

Intro:

•  This is an exciting opportunity to help Kensington & Chelsea Food Bank realise its ambition of distribute emergency food whilst working with partner organisations and improving signposting in order to ensure people get the help they need to address their underlying cause of crisis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Through excellent, comprehensive and considered research, you’ll identify and prioritise a pool of potential grant giving trusts and foundations funders for Kensington & Chelsea Food Bank. You’ll forge relationships with those funders, develop and submit timely and winning funding applications.
• Working with colleagues across Kensington & Chelsea Food Bank, you’ll develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding applications and partnership proposals.
•  You’ll manage the ongoing relationships with grant giving trusts and foundations funders, ensuring they receive excellent stewardship, timely reporting and doing all you can maximising potential for further funding.
•  You’ll also work collaboratively with other local Trussell Trust food banks and identify, propose and progress opportunities for joint funding applications.
•  You’ll help secure funding from local businesses by responding to enquiries with proposals for how those local businesses can best support Kensington & Chelsea Food Bank.
• You will develop, monitor and manage a trusts fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess per annum. You’ll establish a trusts fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and that will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
• You’ll forge strong relationships with colleagues across the wider Trussell Trust network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. You’ll proactively take advantage of any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.
• Oversee and assist as needed the Foodbank Project Manager and Volunteer Manager to:

1.  Maintain relationships with key local stakeholders and identify fundraising opportunities and helping with other community relationships as needed.
2. Further develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies.

• Generate content to promote the work of the food bank, encourage donations through social media, regular foodbank newsletters and contact with corporate Volunteers.  

Skills

• You’ll have strong, established experience of trusts and foundations fundraising. Experience of corporate partnerships fundraising would also be beneficial.
•  With excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills. You’ll be able to inspire and motivate new and existing funders.
• You’ll have experience of setting, managing and reporting against fundraising KPI’s.

2makeit helps rehabilitate prisoners and ex-prisoners by offering them creative expression through programmes using music and the arts, mentoring, advice and guidance.

This part-time, maternity cover role co-ordinating the growth of 2makeit’s work supporting the rehabilitation of offenders in the community is home-based with travel around London and the South East and involves:

About Us  

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). Overall purpose

Your primary responsibility will be to lead Breaking Barriers’ employment programme in Birmingham and the West Midlands, and support the Senior Employment Services Manager and Director of Services in ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency in the support we provide to clients.  

Working closely with the Senior Employment Services Manager, you will take ownership of delivery within this region and lead on the delivery of the contract, including maintaining effective external stakeholder relationships and providing accurate and timely reporting. You will line manage and support a team of Employment Advisers (“Advisers”), enabling them to provide high-quality support to clients and coordinate the day-to-day operational activity which keeps our programmes running.

You are a highly organised and effective worker who knows when to adopt a creative approach and when to follow the established process. You will have an empathetic manner, be willing to go the extra mile to support clients and be proactive in looking for ways to improve our service. Lived experience would be helpful but is not essential.  

In addition to exceptional people skills, you will be a strong communicator and possess meticulous attention to detail. You will be confident working autonomously, helped by excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and cope with interruptions.

You should have at a demonstrable track record of transferrable work experience in coordinating service delivery, projects or programmes, or another relevant field. Equally important is a demonstrable commitment to working with marginalised populations who face barriers to employment, particularly refugees. A strong interest in employability support and experience delivering employment programmes or careers advice would be a strong advantage.

The deputy service manager will contribute to the management of the IDVA and community based services, in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures and quality management system.  This involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors.

The post holder will provide line management and support to staff. This will include providing supervision on complex casework issues such as child protection, overseeing operational emergencies and ensuring high standards of support. Job description

Main Responsibilities:

 · To act as cover for Senior Maintenance Technician during their absence and undertake line management of maintenance team.

· To perform small repairs such as leaking taps, faulty door locks or jammed windows and general maintenance, including painting and decorating, to maintain and improve upon the standards of the facilities and equipment.

· To plan a schedule of routine checks and implement to ensure faults or damage in facilities and equipment are identified promptly and dealt with within agreed timetable.

· Check the repairs database and attend to items listed reporting back to the Facilities Manager when completed.

· To maintain accurate records and logs of any repairs/ checks in accordance with Facilities Manager procedures to evidence work done and to inform future decision making.

· To attend to all remedial maintenance work as discussed with the Facilities Manager

· To liaise with external contractors/trades people  to ensure work is completed to a satisfactory standard in accordance with YMCA East Surrey’s policies and procedures

· To be proactive in carrying out property inspections, identifying any issues of repairs or advisory works or recommendations for the general upkeep of our infrastructure.

· To be a responsible official with regard to fire emergency and evacuation procedures, testing and setting of smoke/heat detectors/emergency lighting/ fire extinguishers as required by legislation and record in fire log book

Overall purpose

The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for developing, leading and implementing key aspects of our communications and engagement strategy. Your focus will be to maintain our high reputation and build engagement with key audiences – principally target public audiences, corporate partners, funders and supporters, volunteers, clients, and staff. 

Bridging the gap between senior leadership and delivery, you will be a confident and strategic thinker, but remain excited by the challenge of getting stuck in. You will be comfortable supporting colleagues to deliver activity as well as working independently on your own projects. Strong copywriting is essential for this role. You will be able to write, edit, and tailor content for different audiences, and publish it across various channels, including the website, social media, emails, and marketing materials. 

You will enjoy variety. Your day could involve operational planning, developing a new campaign, briefing freelancers and agencies, finding compelling stories, creating our Impact Report, speaking with journalists, working on internal communications, or drafting social media posts.

The successful candidate will have strong emotional intelligence, relationship building and negotiation skills. They will be collaborative and creative, drive projects forward, work effectively alongside the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, and bring people together across the organisation. They will provide supportive, effective management to the Communications and Campaigns Officer, and be an internal advocate for the impact our Communications and Engagement can have.
