Job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Independent Board Chair to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in guiding the development of the Hub, maximising our impact and driving our plans forward. This is a rare opportunity to make a significant impact on the musical landscape in the city.

About Us: SFE is an award winning charity based in Birmingham. As the HLO for the city, we are dedicated to promoting music education and fostering musical talent through a wide range of activities coordinated by the music Hub. Working with our Hub partners, we aim to inspire and support young musicians, providing them with opportunities to develop their skills and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the HLO Board and its members

  • Oversee the development and implementation of strategic plans

  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, partners and the wider community

  • Act as an ambassador for the Hub, promoting its purpose and objectives

Skills/experience sought:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the arts, education and/or non-profit sectors
  • Strong understanding of governance and strategic planning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Passionate about music education and committed to making a positive impact
