The CGD Society 

Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (CGD) is a rare, life-limiting immune disorder, where children and adults get frequent bacterial and fungal infections, which can be serious and life-threatening.

The CGD Society is the primary resource for individuals facing a CGD diagnosis, offering essential information and support to families throughout their CGD journey. Our organisation is led by our dedicated and inspiring Executive Director who works tirelessly alongside our CGD Clinical nurse specialist, who is based at Great Ormond Street Hospital. While headquartered in the UK, we proudly support around 1,500 members across 77 countries, representing this global community with pride.

Key responsibilities

Community Fundraising 

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to increase income through regular giving, donations, campaigns, legacy giving, corporate partnerships, and other fundraising initiatives. 

• Promote participation in major sporting and challenge events. 

• Provide supporters with the necessary materials and motivation to maximize their fundraising efforts for the CGD Society. 

• Send personal thank you letters and certificates to acknowledge donations and fundraising efforts promptly. 

• Address fundraising inquiries. 

• Maintain regular communication with key fundraisers and stakeholders. 

• Attend events to support participants when appropriate. 

Corporate Sponsorship and Partnerships 

• Establish and cultivate relationships with companies to secure sponsorships for various projects, fundraising events, and other funding opportunities. 

• Form alliances within the charity sector to achieve shared fundraising objectives and create more appealing sponsorship proposals. 

Grant fundraising 

• If funding permits a three-day working week, with training and development, prepare and submit persuasive funding applications to Charitable Trusts and Foundations to boost our core income. 

• Develop with the Exec Director a rolling strategy for such applications, building relationships with funders and defining compelling funding targets. 

Digital Marketing 

• Lead the development and execution of social media content to increase awareness and income, utilizing optimal methods to reach target audiences and drive engagement. 

• Serve as a "brand guardian," ensuring consistent, cohesive, and well-thought-out messaging, tone, and appearance across all internal and external communications. 

• Source and maintain a repository of up-to-date case studies, photos, and videos on life with CGD, transforming these into media-ready stories for social media, newsletters, the website, and reports. 

• Create and distribute regular newsletters using Mailchimp and other communication tools for members. 

• Manage the CGD Society website (WordPress), ensuring it is regularly updated and engaging for our beneficiaries, collaborating with external suppliers as needed. 

Support for Executive Director 

• Provide monthly reports to the Executive Director detailing donations, fundraising activities, and marketing KPIs. 

• Managing enquires during annual leave 

• Support for events, such as the CGD Society family weekends 

• Potential opportunity to progress role beyond fundraising with support from the Executive Director

Person specification 

​Must have skills 

• Experience working within a fundraising or digital marketing environment demonstrating a track record of maintaining and growing income for supporters and/or organisations. 

• Excellent supporter care experience knowing what is necessary to deliver a high-quality service to supporters and/or fundraisers. 

• Expert knowledge, experience, and confidence in developing and delivering creative and engaging social media content across a wide variety of channels. 

• Ability to create engaging graphic content using Adobe/Canva software. 

• Demonstrate empathy, active listening and effective verbal and written communication skills. 

• Copywriting – To have good written English with a flair for creative writing. You should be able to demonstrate examples of copywriting engaging, original and persuasive content.

• Knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), keyword research and Google Analytics. 

• Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• To be happy to work independently and be suitably motivated and organised to work from home. 

• Be strongly motivated in supporting those affected by CGD, whether through your own personal experience or professional interests.

Nice to have  

• Understanding and improving the effectiveness of Google AdWords to drive website traffic. 

• Competency with Microsoft 365 & SharePoint. 

• Experience or knowledge of a rare genetic condition would be advantageous but is not a requirement. 

• Generating income by writing compelling and impactful applications to funders and grant providers.

The role

Global Greengrants Fund UK is looking to hire an energetic and passionate individual who will play a key role in establishing and developing Global Greengrants Fund UK’s offering to individual donors to be able to make gifts of £100,000 annually, in order to secure significant unrestricted income for the organisation.

GGF UK has a small portfolio of existing high net worth individual (HNWI) supporters but is currently primarily reliant on income from trusts and foundations. The post holder will join the organisation at a time of very significant growth and will be expected to be able to work autonomously to build out a new income stream with significant potential to diversify our revenue and strengthen the organisation’s support to grassroots environmental justice movements.

Working as part of the Philanthropic Partnerships team and reporting to the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships, the postholder will also collaborate closely with colleagues across the global organisation Global Greengrants Fund, particularly within the Programmes, Communications, and Development teams towards realising organisational aims.

The candidate profile

The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience in a similar role in a charitable, environmental, development, and/or grant-making organisation. They will be an experienced, senior-level fundraiser with a track record of securing and developing successful relationships with HNWIs to achieve ambitious income goals. They will have extensive experience in developing pitches, proposals, and fundraising products; and a strong interest in environmental justice, international development or human rights issues. They will have an extensive knowledge of the funding and philanthropy sectors in the UK and Europe; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and be confident in engaging a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including at senior levels. They should also have excellent interpersonal understanding, relationship-building, stewardship, and conceptual skills to build strong alliances with diverse constituencies and manage complex politics, positioning, and relationships. They also thrive in a virtual environment and are motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions.

About the role and its purpose

We are in a very exciting moment in the development of the Advantage Mentoring by designing a second programme which this post-holder will be responsible for the successful implementation and project and performance management of.

Taking the underpinning principles and approaches of our flagship young person programme in partnership between CCO and CAMHS, we have designed a second programme helping adults signed-off work due to their mental health to improve their overall health and get back to sustainable employment. We will start delivery in September with referrals coming via GP surgeries in Barking, Hackney and Waltham Forest with the programme delivered in partnership with Arsenal in the Community, Leyton Orient Trust and West Ham United Foundation.

The post-holder will be responsible for successfully launching the programme and providing on-going project and performance management, and is accountable for all operational objectives and KPI’s.

Key Performance Indicators

• Project and performance manage the CCOs delivering the programme to achieve all programme objectives

• Oversee monthly Operational Steering Groups with lead personnel from CCOs, DWP and NHS to share good-practice, refine the model and implement upskilling across all areas of the programme

• Support the Managing Director in further building relationships and a strong network with existing and new stakeholders particularly with NHS, CCO and DWP

• Gather data to ensure quality assurance and provide insight and improvement

Independent Mental Health Advocate (IMHA)
Working Pattern: 30 hours per week (4 weekdays)

About the Role

The post holder will support vulnerable patients within the Adult Forensic and Acute Adult Services of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, with scope to work with patients at various stages of their treatment and rehabilitation. Please note that this role requires physical presence at the hospital.  Appointment will be subject to risk assessment. 

The successful, dynamic candidate will have:

• Experience of providing Independent Mental Health Advocacy, or having worked in a related field, to a high standard.  Relevant skills and experience from backgrounds other than Advocacy can be built on.
• The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals and service-users.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as being adaptable to the needs and abilities of others.
• A working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, relating to both the civil and forensic sections of the Act and other associated legislation. As a minimum, a general understanding is required, with a willingness and an ability to expand on this once in post.

Required experience: Working within Advocacy or a Related Field for at least 1 year 
Desirable experience: Holding the National Advocacy Certificate Qualification

You will be able to work in a partnership capacity, with an array of linked clinical and youth services, to engage young people and professionals in sexual health support, education, and training. Programme

Young Greenwich is an integrated programme commissioned by the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The key purpose of the programme is to enable young people to develop holistically, working with them to facilitate their personal, social, and educational aspirations with an aim to develop their voice and reach their full potential. The programme is led by NHS Oxleas Foundation Trust (Oxleas) and delivered with partners Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) who together with METRO form the Young Greenwich Partnership. Young Greenwich will deliver seamlessly in and out of schools, youth hubs and other community venues with strong pathways for pupils in schools into community-based activities and support vice versa.

As part of the Young Greenwich offer, METRO will facilitate and deliver the National Chlamydia Screening Programme (NCSP), which aims to increase testing and treatment and reduce onward transmission of Chlamydia amongst 15-24 year olds, particularly those who are at higher risk. METRO will also facilitate and deliver the free condom scheme available to Greenwich residents aged 13-24; the Greenwich C Card enables young people to access free condoms via sites across the borough as well as online.

The South East London Suicide Bereavement Service is a collaboration between South East London Mind, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and Mind in Bexley. The service provides vital emotional and practical support to adults and young people who have lost a loved one to suicide. You will be joining a supportive team who share a passion for working with people during some of the most difficult experiences of their lives.

We are looking for a compassionate, reflective and resilient individual to fill the key role of Suicide Bereavement Support Worker. Your primary responsibilities will be to deliver one-to-one emotional and practical support and co-facilitate occasional bereavement support groups. This role involves building relationships with people from all walks of life and managing your own caseload. You will have ownership over your work, while being supported through regular supervision and reflective practice.

With experience providing emotional support, including to those who have experienced bereavement, you will be an excellent communicator with good assessment and support planning skills. You will also be highly organised and able to manage a busy and varied workload. The ability to adapt your approach to a wide variety of people, ensuring that support is inclusive and sensitive to service users’ cultural and religious backgrounds, is essential. This role involves meeting clients in the community, including carrying out home visits. Although it is possible to fulfil the travel requirements of the role by public transport, this would best suit someone with access to their own mode of transport, such as a car or bicycle.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FUNDRAISING

• Be a point of contact for fundraising, ensuring a positive experience for funders and managing financial transactions to agreed fundraising policies and processes.
• Develop a regional Grant Programme, focusing on unrestricted income and feeding into fundraising management reporting. 
• Identify, research, and communicate income and partnership opportunities, working proactively with colleagues across the Group to scope fundable initiatives that provide added value. 
• Work alongside the team to develop high-quality grant funding applications, cases for support, and budgets. Complete the end-to-end process, ensuring all applications are thorough and competitive.
• Oversee grant reporting and invoicing, ensuring prompt fulfilment in line with all grant agreements and reporting requirements, liaising with relevant teams across the Group.

Fowler’s Syndrome UK (Registered Charity number 1196903) is a unique patient and clinician led charity that works to raise awareness, promote education and encourage research into the debilitating bladder condition Fowler’s Syndrome. The condition solely affects women and Fowler’s Syndrome UK (FSUK) is the only charity in the world to directly support women with this condition.

Fowler’s syndrome is a life changing and currently almost untreatable condition, affecting up to 20,000 women in the UK. It  causes full or partial urinary retention and solely affects women*, meaning they have problems passing urine due to a difficulty in relaxing the urinary sphincter. The peak age of onset is 26. It was first described by Professor Clare Fowler, Emeritus professor of Uro-Neurology at UCLh, and FSUK’s patron, in 1985.

We estimate that there are in excess of 20,000 women in the UK suffering from, but not necessarily diagnosed with, the condition, because of the lack of knowledge about Fowler’s Syndrome both from a patient and clinician perspective.

85% of women with Fowler’s Syndrome say the condition has had a severe or devastating impact on their life.

75% of those with FS have been told their urinary symptoms are due to anxiety or ‘all in their head’

There is low awareness of the condition among the medical community outside of specialist hospitals. Only an estimated 30% of GPs are aware of Fowler’s Syndrome. Once diagnosed, there are few resources available for patients and limited treatment options. Many women feel alone and unsupported.

Our mission is to provide resources, promote education and facilitate research into Fowler’s syndrome; so women with the condition have stigma free access to a timely diagnosis, suitable and effective treatment options, care and psychological support.

The Role: Administrator

The administrator’s role is to support the CEO in the daily management of the charity. This will include administration, delivering resources, comms including social media and website, outreach and events, fundraising and research. It will also include supporting the CEO and Patient Liaison with seminars and conferences, and support groups.

Administration: Support the CEO and the Finance and Governance lead with daily activities, including but not limited to grant applications, basic finance administration, project management, project delivery, database management, office management. Outreach and events: Drive awareness of FSUK in the local community and beyond Work with CEO to manage merchandising, registration, setup, logistics of events. Find, plan and represent FSUK at events. Manage yearly even calendar. Working with the CEO and administrator to plan, organise and run events, including transformative one-day seminar for healthcare professionals and a two-day seminar for FSUK users and clinicians.

Fundraising: Help the CEO and Patient liaison with fundraising, both on an individual and trust basis.

Community led research: Assist the CEO in creating patient led community research.

Research: Assist the CEO and work with the Patient Liaison in creating and conducting research. Including Patient perspectives input into consensus guidelines for non-surgical management, Dr. Ingrid Hoeritzauer, Patient experiences with sacral neuromodulation, Dr. Caroline Selai, Awareness of FS among UK urology community, Prof Jalesh Panicker via University Cambridge, Physiotherapy treatment experiences with FS and CIUR, Dr. Ingrid Hoeritzauer. Our research will help enable women to receive the support they need and fulfil their potential, offering quicker diagnosis and better treatments and enabling our community to thrive.

There may be occasions where staff are required to work out of hours or support at events, including wish related activities such as our annual wish family Christmas party or wish community events, cheering runners at the London marathon or working at our annual fundraising gala. We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for a Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.

Shine has a membership of over 13,500 members living with SpinaBifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,000 associated members.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with NPH across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just under 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.

Overview: 

Groundswell is recruiting a Health In-Reach Navigator to join our Health Promotion Team to arrange, develop and run Health Promotion In-Reach sessions in homelessness services across London. 

We know that if you are experiencing homelessness, you will be disproportionately affected by health inequalities and often lack access to suitable information and support that could help you independently manage your health and wellbeing. Our approach: 

• Everyone has a right to access healthcare including screening and preventative services. 

• Health and wellbeing look different for everyone. Health promotion should not alienate people by setting standards that are unattainable but should support them to look at what they can practically do to feel better right now. 

• Everyone’s ‘normal’ is different. Someone who is smoking crack or who is dependent on alcohol might have bodily functions that are different to what is ‘normal’ for the average person. People need to be aware of their own ‘normal’ so that they know when something is wrong. 

The Health In-Reach Navigator will be working with the teams in hostels and day centres, going to the places where people live or go to access vital services like food and showers. Ideally, they will have their own first-hand experience of using or working in services supporting people around homelessness, substance misuse, mental health, poverty, asylum and immigration, or the criminal justice system.

Our services are co-produced by people with first-hand experience of the issues we are trying to address.

The Navigator should be comfortable with continuously evolving and adapting the service, tailoring it to the specific needs of the people we work with, developing sessions informed by direct feedback and direction from people living in hostels and using homelessness Day Centres. 

Our Health Promotion Work 

The Health Promotion Team:

• Deliver group ‘in-reach’ sessions led by staff and volunteers with first-hand experience of homelessness, using health promotion resources to engage people with health issues and talk to them about options available.

• Support clinical services going into hostels and day centres to deliver preventative health measures such as screening and vaccinations. 

• Co-produce and support the development of accessible health promotion resources about health services and health issues with people who have experienced homelessness that inform, advise, and help people manage their health.

• Co-produce health and wellbeing resources for staff working within the homelessness sector, better equipping them to support the people who use their services and improve longer term health outcomes.

• Contribute to producing resources for staff working in healthcare, better equipping them to understand the challenges that people experiencing homelessness might face in accessing services.

We have a range of accessible, targeted materials around vaccination, screening and other health issues that can be used by our team and supported accommodation staff to support sessions. We are planning to develop more of these, particularly looking at screening and rights to access healthcare. 

By carrying out Health Promotion In-Reach in hostels and Day Centres we aim to: 

• Increase awareness of specific health issues, what services are available and the pathways for accessing them. 

• Encourage people to identify their own health priorities, and to address their health concerns, offering them the tools to tackle issues and access services.

• Support people in identifying shared interests in particular health issues and delivering in-reach sessions that demonstrably reflect those shared interests. 

• Reach more people to support with 1-1 appointments through our Homeless Health Peer Advocacy (HHPA) service. 

The group in-reach model enables people with similar experiences to come together and reflect on overcoming challenges. As a project based on Advocacy principals, we do not tell people what they should do; but encourage autonomy to make safe and realistic choices. We: 

• Meet with people to ask what their health priorities are and look at potential topics for upcoming sessions. These topics are then shared with the staff team from the hostel/day centre so they can feed in. 

• Draft an in-reach programme and plan dates, times, and promotion of sessions, involving staff teams at each site. 

• Organise and co-deliver 5-10 sessions on the priorities identified by people experiencing homelessness and the staff working with them 

• All sessions focus on residents’ voices being heard first, then Groundswell facilitated discussion supported and informed by Groundswell health promotion information and/or clinicians. 

The Health Promotion team also work with a range of external partners around screening and preventive care.

We work with partners to arrange health events at homelessness services; promoting the sessions by talking to residents prior to teams visiting and supporting on the day to maximise uptake.

About HHPA  

Our Health Promotion work sits alongside our Homeless Health Peer Advocacy (HHPA) Program. Groundswell created HHPA in Westminster in 2010, to support people experiencing homelessness to overcome multiple barriers preventing access to healthcare, initially through funding from the NHS Regional Innovation Fund. Since then, HHPA has since flourished into a multi award-winning service working across London.

Health creates a foundation to move out of homelessness. Groundswell’s person led health services enable people who are homeless to access the health care they need, so they are not disadvantaged by the health inequalities embedded in our systems. Our health work is  delivered by a team where most people have their own experience of homelessness,  shared experience builds up a level of trust when there can be mistrust of ‘professionals’, because of past trauma or negative experiences.

The service is delivered by volunteer Peer Advocates and staff Case Workers, who build trusting relationships with clients and support them to access, navigate and use healthcare services. They aim to increase people’s self-confidence and improve their ability to independently access the services they need, which can include everything from registering for a GP, dentistry treatment, mental health referrals, hospital appointments, and much more.

Groundswell is unique in bridging the divide between health and homelessness organisations. We work in partnership with numerous organisations across London to support the delivery of our peer advocacy service. 

Health In-reach Navigator Tasks 

The Health In-Reach Navigator will be a vital member of our team, working collaboratively with various partners and agencies to deliver In-Reach sessions and connect individuals experiencing homelessness with essential healthcare services. This position offers autonomy, flexibility, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.

Lead on planning and delivery of health promotion sessions working with key stakeholders to shape sessions: 

• Develop and maintain links with hostels, Day Centres, and health teams in the Boroughs where Groundswell works to identify suitable services for delivery of health promotion work. 

• Working with people using services, and staff working in services; identify health priorities and plan, design and deliver sessions that reflect those priorities, tailoring them to people’s needs. 

• Work with staff at services to ensure risk assessments are in place.

• Work with the Health Promotion Manager to create ways of getting feedback from participants to ensure the sessions are continuously being developed to meet people’s needs. 

Plan, promote and deliver one off health & well-being events with stakeholders: 

• Work with the Health Promotion Manage and key stakeholders to help plan health days at hostels and Day Centres. 

• Represent Groundswell at planning meetings for events for health events, working with partners to develop sessions, ensuring learning from past events is considered. 

• Support the organisation and delivery of health days working alongside clinical and homelessness partners. 

• Promote the health days to people using local services. 

Work with clinical teams offering preventative health care work in community settings across London: 

• Work with the Health Promotion Manager to ensure we are linked in with homeless health teams in the Boroughs where we work and are supporting their in-reach into hostels and Day Centres. 

• Develop and maintain relationships with a range of partner organisations including mainstream GP surgeries, hostels, and specialist homeless health services. 

• Work with homelessness services prior to visits from clinical teams to promote sessions and make sure people have the information they need to decide whether to take part, maximising take up on the day. 

• Work alongside Groundswell in-reach volunteers to support clinicians to engage with people during sessions at hostels and day centres. 

• Support clinicians in engaging with people experiencing homelessness. 

• Manage any referrals that need to be made to the HHPA team for one-to-one support to access external health services. 

Share learning internally and externally: 

• Provide feedback to Groundswell’s communications team on the health priorities raised by people experiencing homelessness so we can ensure we are developing relevant resources. 

• Contribute to co-production of health promotion resources feeding in the concerns and questions we are hearing from our health promotion work. 

• Support and contribute to the training of Groundswell volunteers and staff about In-Reach delivery.

• Work with the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Health Promotion Manager to support In-reach volunteers. 

• Attend conferences and learning events to learn and share learning. 

Develop, plan and contribute to ongoing quarterly monitoring, review, evaluation, and reporting of the health promotion work: 

• Work with the Health Promotion Manager to develop the project and plan future work. 

• Contribute to reports on In-Reach delivery for commissioners and other stakeholders externally. 

• Record and share feedback from people experiencing homelessness and partners

About the role

Step 2 and 3 of the NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire service is provided in partnership by Solent Mind (step 2) and Southern Health NHS Foundation (step 3). We employ Qualified PWPs to deliver support to step 2 patients.

This role involves delivering assessments as well as evidenced-based low intensity CBT interventions for those with mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety disorders. The range of treatments you may provide would include one-to-one guided self-help via telephone and video, with the opportunity to offer face-to-face in addition to cCBT programmes, webinars, workshops and psycho-educational groups.

You’ll be based across either Eastleigh, Gosport or Basingstoke Digital Hubs, including hybrid working considered with some home working each week.

The starting salary is £28,407 pro-rata, per annum rising to £30,639 after 2 years of service and then £34,581 after a further 2 years of service.

About you

You’ll need to be highly motivated and resilient to cope with the demands of working in this large, high volume service. To be successful, you’ll also need strong communication skills, a professional telephone manner and excellent IT and organisational skills.

You must hold a Postgraduate or Degree Certificate in Psychological Therapies, otherwise you cannot be considered for this role.
