Marketing Officer

Key Responsibilities:

OVERVIEW
The Masonic Charitable Foundation is looking for an experienced adviser to join our frontline Advice, Support & Enquiries Team managing all enquiries via the advice line and electronic/mail channels. Each month we receive hundreds of phone calls and emails from people who need our help. The team’s Advisers are often the first point of contact with the MCF and play a key role in our grants process.
You will need excellent customer service skills, a high level of personal resilience, ability to quickly build a good rapport with callers and be a team player who is willing to support colleagues and prioritise the needs of the team. Previous experience in a comparable role is desirable.
Day to day responsibilities include answering calls and responding to emails from individuals and families for a range of support (including daily living costs, health and care and education), liaising with our Advice and Support Advisers and Visiting Volunteers, awarding grants for counselling and consultations and keeping the grants system up to date.
The team is based in our central London office on the edge of Covent Garden, with hybrid working available

The Merlin Neuro Therapy Centre, located in mid-Cornwall, is a Cornish charity providing a place of support, therapy, information, and community for people living with a long-term neurological condition and/or those who are neurodiverse. We give financial assistance to our beneficiaries in the form of subsidised specialist therapies. Our purpose built, fully accessible Centre, opened in 2009 and offers physiotherapy; exercise classes; Ayres’ Sensory Integration (ASI) therapy (a discipline of Occupational Therapy), and oxygen therapy. The Primrose Hydrotherapy Pool facility, which was built in the grounds, opened in 2019, providing both individual and group hydrotherapy sessions.
Living with a long-term health condition brings many challenges, not just for those diagnosed, but also for family members. Symptoms can affect physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychological health. For our clients who have sensory processing difficulties, due to being neurodivergent, everyday situations and relationships can be perplexing and taxing.
Our main aims are to improve the health and well-being of our community; help people manage their symptoms and situations; and support their main care giver, often a family member. Services are delivered by a highly experienced team, with a broad range of skills and experience in delivering specialist therapies.
The Role

This is a newly created and pivotal role in The Aspinall Foundation’s small fundraising team. The Fundraising Officer will be responsible for the delivery and implementation of the charity’s key adoption fundraising programme and supporting the effective running of the Department as a whole.

What you’ll be doing

- Relationship building and engagement with Ukie members and wider sector stakeholders, including attendance at internal and external stakeholder meetings and coalition industry groups.
- Support the Senior Policy Manager in research for Ukie’s external consultation responses, co-ordinating with members and facilitating internal forums for discussions on particular issues.
- Support in organising events and engagement with policy makers within Whitehall, Westminster, the Devolved Governments and with regional, combined and local authorities as well as with our global partners in the EU, US and further afield.
- Assisting the policy and research teams with major public affairs projects and campaigns according to the UKIEs internal strategy and drawing on Ukie’s internal data and external partners where appropriate.
- Supporting and promoting Ukie at external political meetings, including our bi-annual Westminster Games Week.
- Support in raising the profile of Ukie and its significant policy priorities through external communications in partnership with the Ukie campaigns team, and through public scrutiny such as the use of written parliamentary questions.
- Acting as the lead point of contact for the APPG on Video Games and Esports to which Ukie acts as the secretariat and taking responsibility for liaising with its members.
- Lead on external policy communications such as the Ukie Policy Byte, the bi-weekly political newsletter, with support from Senior Policy Manager and Head of Policy where necessary.
- Be responsible for the team administration of internal stakeholder meetings, including sending out invites, taking minutes and preparing relevant material as well as maintaining up to date email lists of all stakeholders.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with games industry member businesses and a wide range of external bodies; including partner organisations, government officials and other trade bodies.
- Support the Senior Policy Manager and Head of Policy in the management of Ukie’s internal stakeholder groups – including Ukie’s policy group and its various working sub groups.

Qualifications and experience required for this role

- Monday to Friday – 9.00am to 5.30pm
- Expectation that some evening and weekend work may be required to attend or run Ukie events as the business requires.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Income Generation and External Engagement you will work closely with the Director of Finance, CEO, Finance and Programmes teams, and colleagues across the income generating and external engagement team; supporting them to meet financial targets, provide excellent stewardship and to implement key administrative and financial processes.

The Sutton Trust is the UK’s leading foundation dedicated to improving social mobility. The organisation conducts rigorous research into the issues of low social mobility and educational disadvantage, undertakes policy advocacy to effect systemic change, and delivers programmes to over 10,000 young people each year across the country. The Trust is recruiting a creative and committed Research and Policy Officer to join our team, as fixed term cover for paternity leave. Reporting to one of the team’s Research and Policy Managers, the successful candidate will play a significant role in developing and preparing the Trust’s research and policy outputs, working across the core areas of the Sutton Trust’s work (early years, schools, apprenticeships, higher education and access to the workplace). This will include helping to produce original, data rich and policy relevant research reports, along with contributing to other Trust research projects where required. They will also support the policy and advocacy work of the Trust, including performing background research on topics relevant to educational inequality and social mobility as required.
Main duties
- To contribute, with colleagues, to 2 or more data-rich research reports accessible to practitioners and policy makers, over the course of the year, as agreed with the Research, Comms and Policy leadership team.
- To support the Sutton Trust’s programme of research and policy work, including:
- Providing staff with background research, analysis and data on relevant topics
- Producing literature reviews
- Supporting research funding bids
- Providing administrative support
- Working with Communication colleagues to develop messaging and content for disseminating and publicising reports.
- Supporting advocacy work, as required, with MPs’ staff, civil servants, special advisers and other policy makers.

Person Specification
Essential:
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of research methods, particularly quantitative research and literature reviews. This should include experience of using data analysis software such as R/SPSS/Stata/Python or equivalent.
- A qualification in a social science or other numerate discipline, including statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data science or similar discipline in the social or natural sciences at undergraduate level, or comparable experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Personable, flexible and discreet; able to fit in to a small team
- Being sympathetic to the aims of the Trust and its mission to address educational disadvantage;
- Is eligible to work in the UK (see here for information about right to work)
Desirable:
- Experience undertaking research projects in an academic or working environment.
- Knowledge of one of more of our priority policy areas (early years, schools, apprenticeships, higher education and access to the workplace), and the wider education policy environment in England.
- Strong understanding of government and the public policy environment.
- Experience in education (for example, as a teacher or in another front-line educational role), education policy or a closely related field.
- Experience working within or an understanding of the not-for-profit sector.

Terms of Appointment

We are seeking a Research Funding Officer (Research Impact) to work mainly on our Research Grant Programme. As part of our Research Funding team, you will support high quality and innovative research on the effects of diet, nutrition, physical activity, and body size on cancer prevention and survival, managing an international portfolio of projects and working closely with leading researchers around the world.

Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills are essential for engaging a diverse range of audiences. Additionally, you should possess a solid understanding of statistical analysis. A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or Nutrition is required, while a Master’s degree is preferred but not essential. An interest in science communication and social media is also desirable.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our bank of casual workers as a Welfare Officer, providing cover as required for the SSAFA RAF Service across the UK.
Our Bank Welfare Officers will provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family on an ad hoc basis when a full-time member of the team is unavailable to do so.

About you

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Yorkshire Programme Manager has responsibility for the development and delivery of our community programmes in West Yorkshire, with a particular focus on Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike.
At present, this is focussed on leading our Bridging & Belonging project, which aims to co-produce a vision for the future of Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. We expect that the insight that we produce from this project will determine the direction of our community programmes in West Yorkshire over the coming years.
Working with the project’s Community Group, you’ll support them to deliver a series of community events that capture the issues, needs and skills of the community and identify the action that the community wants to see.
As the project draws to a conclusion, you’ll play a key role in planning our future work in West Yorkshire, in conjunction with the Head of Community Programmes, and will provide information and support for grant applications for this future work.
ABOUT THE BRIDGING & BELONGING PROJECT
We know from our work in West Yorkshire that community members want to connect with each other, influence change, and use their ideas and skills to benefit the community. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, this project aims to facilitate this through a series of community events and activities in Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. These events will explore the themes of community, place and belonging, and will help us create a shared vision for the future of the area.
This project has already been established, so you’ll start with an in-depth project plan in place and a small but engaged Community Group made up of people from across Batley, Dewsbury, Heckmondwike and surrounding areas. With them we have started planning for the first three community events. You’ll also get support in running this project from a Project Officer and our Head of Community Programmes.
Through your leadership of this project over the next 12 months, we will:

Grow the Community Group to around 15 people

Support the group to plan and deliver a series of community events across Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. These events will be for anyone with a connection to the area to connect, listen, and share stories on the themes of community, place and belonging.

Support the group by organising and facilitating regular meetings, identifying any skills needs they have, and sourcing / providing training where relevant.
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone who is motivated and positive about making change happen in the area. You need to be happy to work as part of a remote team, but also have the confidence and ability to work independently and on your own initiative.
You’ll have a deep understanding of, and experience of engaging with, communities in West Yorkshire, particularly Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills, and experience of facilitating group meetings and workshops in creative and engaging ways. This project has already started, so you’ll also need an ability to digest information and build relationships quickly.
You’ll have strong project management skills, and ideally experience planning and delivering events. Experience working with Steering Groups and reporting to funders will also be helpful.

Routes To Roots was formed to meet the identified needs of those experiencing or effected by homelessness across Poole. Providing individuals with a daily hot meal, social interaction and access to additional health and wellbeing support.
As a Project Worker at The Genesis Day Centre, Poole, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals who are homeless and vulnerably housed.
You will contribute to the daily serving of food as well as the successful implementation of support groups and programmes. Working within a small team of staff and volunteers you will help address the immediate needs of homeless individuals, whilst promoting long-term solutions and empowerment. A faith based charity, the organisation seeks to provide the daily essentials in addition to ongoing support and signposting.
Main Duties
- Offer emotional support, guidance, and advocacy to help meet the immediate needs of individuals presenting at The Genesis Centre as well as navigating them through their homelessness journey.
- Empower and motivate individuals through 1-1's and groups.
- To work with multiple agencies based both at the Gensis Centre and externally to ensure effective and efficient collaborative working
- Identify and coordinate appropriate group sessions that provide support and encourage the growth of networks and peer support.
- To contribute to the daily delivery of the Genesis Centre offer including organising, preparing and serving meals as well as providing access to provision including washing and laundry facilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including progress notes, incidents and attendance records, whilst ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies
