The Director of Policy and Research is a key senior leadership role at Learning and Work Institute. What could my day look like?

The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. On other days, you may be travelling to a corporate partner to run a business simulation workshop for 15 year-olds or leading a group of final year primary school students on a campus visit for their graduation.

As an Education Worker, you’ll always be delivering the programme as part of your centre team, which means that any delivery is always a team effort.

Overview

You will be focusing on the encouragement of planned giving, the continued introduction of contactless giving and the Parish Giving Scheme, supporting 2 treasurers and contributing to materials to assist parishes in becoming Joyful Generous Stewards. Training will be tailored to your individual needs. The Stewardship Resourcing Officer role is supported by funding from the National Church Institutions through the Giving Advisor Fund and Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment.

The duties and responsibilities below will be shared between the existing Stewardship Resourcing Officer and the successful applicant working it out together, bearing in mind geography, workload and experience. MYL is recruiting a Basic Skills Tutor to join our successful Wythenshawe team, to implement a functional skills programme with young people aged 16 - 25 who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Our Learning Hubs provide opportunities to gain accredited qualifications in Maths and English up to level 2, develop skills needed in adult life and employment, with a high level of pastoral support and varied enrichment activities. Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for the IT service and technology operations for staff and learners across the college.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step from, for example, a Senior Engineer role into IT Management.  As part of a growing college you will also have the opportunity to develop and scale up the service as we develop new provision. 

You will have responsibility for the core IT function with day-to-day support from the Head of Operations and Director of Finance and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Working closely with the Head of Operations and college leadership to define and deliver the IT strategy for the college.
• Managing IT staff and resources to deliver the day to day operations of IT Services including oversight of the IT helpdesk.

• Evidence of success as a professional fundraiser in personally securing major gifts (£50k plus), preferably at the six-figure level.

• Persuasive and compelling approach to asking for donations face to face and in writing effective proposals and applications for funding within a not-for-profit setting (preferably higher education).

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and thoughtfulness when dealing with sensitive matters.

• A knowledge of fundraising best practice in the higher education sector.

Charity People are delighted to be partnering with the Anne Frank Trust UK, an education charity that educates 9 to 15-year-olds about Anne Frank and the Holocaust, empowering them to challenge all forms of prejudice, to help recruit an Education Delivery Specialist.

Founded in 1991, The Anne Frank Trust UK is the UK partner of the Anne Frank House Amsterdam. "I'll make my voice heard, I'll go out into the world and work for humankind!" wrote Anne Frank in her diary on 12 March 1944. The Trust has a 30-year record of empowering young people to challenge prejudice, inspired by Anne Frank and the antisemitism that she experienced through the Holocaust.

Education Delivery Specialists are the front-line delivery posts for all programmes, leading workshops, training peer educators and mentoring ambassadors across the country. You will be committed to equality with the skills to engage 9 to 15-year-olds through learning and empowerment. You will join a dedicated team, passionate about young people, and committed to empowering them to challenge prejudice.

Key responsibilities

• Programme Delivery: You will plan and deliver educational programmes for young people (ages 9-15) focused on challenging prejudice, empowering them with knowledge and skills. You will book programmes into schools, maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, and lead workshops and online sessions. You will prioritise equality and diversity, emphasising inclusive educational activities and impact.
• Training, Mentoring and Support: You will train young people as peer educators and Anne Frank Ambassadors to disseminate anti-prejudice messages effectively, and provide mentoring, offering support and guiding them.
• Events: You will organise events, study trips, and projects with your Ambassadors and their communities, working to targets, curriculum, and quality standards. You will monitor and evaluate activities, maintaining records for assessment.
• Database and Fundraising Support: You will maintain comprehensive records on the Trust's databases and contribute occasionally to fundraising efforts, such as grant applications and supporting young people at donor events.

The Education Delivery Specialist will have substantial experience of running learning activities with groups of young people, including aged 9-15 years, and experience of engaging with and meeting the needs of disadvantaged young people. You will also have experience of providing pastoral/emotional support, working successfully as part of a team, and keeping records and writing reports. You will have knowledge of best practice in teaching and/or youth empowerment, as well as be familiar with the needs and issues of young people. You will understand and have ideas about how to challenge prejudice, and an understanding of safeguarding. You will be highly organised, with excellent administration skills, and able to build and maintain effective relationships. You will use your initiative, creativity, and energy to solve problems and develop new ways of working. You will have an inspiring presentation style with warm, professional interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about Anne Frank and the work of the Anne Frank Trust UK.

The role is home-based within the Essex region. Ideally you will have access to appropriate working space which can be discussed further at interview. There will be frequent local and regional travel and occasional UK-wide travel and overnight stays. Expenses are covered and time off in lieu is given for evening and weekend work. You will have a current valid UK driving licence and access to a car. The role is subject to an advanced DBS check on appointment, and references.

The primary task of the Office Manager and Company Secretary is to head up office and related services to support program leads and enable delivery of all workstreams to a high standard. The role will require periodic working away from the Centre office at other venues in Leicestershire where training / engagements take place.

The post is line managed by the Centre Director.

Tasks of the Office Manager and Company Secretary

1. Managing the Centre Office:

o Administrator for Volunteers, Associates, Consultants, Faith Practitioners and Others who assist Centre program delivery.

o Supervision and/or administration of other office-based support personnel as necessary.

o Ensuring the smooth functioning of the Centre: utilities, IT equipment, internet access etc. Provide day-to-day IT support, undertake initial trouble shooting before external help is sought.

o General Office duties as required - emails, calls, visitors, hospitality, setting up of teaching rooms, post, printing, copying, ordering supplies, meeting attendance, minute taking, document writing, oversight of database, mailings, etc.

o Responsibility for promotion and recruitment for courses.

o Production of leaflets, flyers and newsletters as required.

o Ensure the Centre’s website and social media channels are up-to-date and accurate.

o Ensure email distribution lists and communications systems are up-to-date and used to the greatest effect to communicate the impact of our work to our membership and wider stakeholders.

o Have overall management of all policies and procedures, ensuring accurate records are maintained and regular reviews are managed.

o Ensure the office and whole premises are clean, organised and a safe environment for employees, volunteers and visitors.

o Health and Safety, GDPR and safeguarding responsibilities, including DBS checks and acting as Data Protection Officer.

o Premises care – oversight of day-to-day maintenance, including equipment, gardening and cleaning matters.

o Oversee the management of the library by a suitably qualified volunteer.

o Providing support for Centre staff as required.

o Organizing and managing hospitality and catering at the Centre and offsite where training takes place.

2. Acting as Company Secretary:

o Ensuring duties performed and returns made to Companies House.

o Ensuring Charity Commission requirements kept and returns made.

o Duty as signatory to bank accounts, keeper of Centre debit card, and exercise oversight of petty cash disbursements.

o Service Trustees’ meetings, including working with colleagues to ensure outstanding actions are delivered.

3. Assisting the Director and Deputy Director:

o The Office Manager provides a PA service to the Director and Deputy Director as required, adding capacity to those roles, e.g. in helping set up programs, recruiting personnel, producing reports from data, booking venues, etc.
