The Insights Hub is part of the Transformation Directorate at NCVO, dedicated to leveraging data and research to drive impactful change within the charity and voluntary sectors. Our team focuses on quantitative and qualitative research projects, particularly the UK Civil Society Almanac, delivering actionable insights to support internal and external stakeholders. We work collaboratively across teams to optimise workflows, improve data science capabilities, and support decision-making through robust research and data analysis.
About the role
The Associate Data Scientist will play a key role in supporting quantitative research within the Insights Hub, particularly for projects like the UK Civil Society Almanac and research surveys. The position involves conducting high-quality data analysis, developing machine learning models, and enhancing data processes using tools like Python and SQL. You'll collaborate closely with the Data Scientist and Research and Insights Manager, contributing to large-scale data analysis and supporting the team’s broader research efforts.

Our collaboration with Asda on Cashpot for Schools is another example of unlocking support at scale. This innovative community-led funding model allows shoppers to nominate and fund their local schools simply through everyday spending. In just the last year, this campaign has generated £5.78 million for schools—supporting everything from basic classroom supplies to vital extracurricular programmes and pupil wellbeing initiatives. Also shortlisted for a Business Charity Award, it is already a model for community-driven philanthropy.
Meanwhile, our All Dressed Up campaign—developed with World Book Day and Rubies Masquerade—confronted the often-overlooked issue of financial exclusion on key celebration days. More than 100,000 free dressing up costumes worth £1.34 million were delivered to children from low-income families. We also deliver a wide-ranging series of live expert webinars and parent-friendly resources, covering topics such as managing anxiety, supporting special educational needs, navigating school transitions, and building home-school partnerships. These resources—developed in consultation with experts and rooted in lived parent experience—equip families to feel informed and empowered, no matter what challenges arise.
This month, we launched our Parent-Friendly Schools Accreditation Programme, designed to formally recognise schools that go above and beyond in fostering positive, inclusive relationships with parents. The accreditation celebrates schools that actively listen to parent voices, make engagement easy and accessible, and embed family partnership in their culture. It is a practical and inspiring tool to drive long-term change in the sector and offers a roadmap for schools wanting to strengthen their community.

Working closely with colleagues across the Communities and Participation Team and the wider Communities and System Partnerships division, you will leverage existing lived experience networks and community relationships to drive change with and for people living with cancer through strategic programmes of work. The Role
We are recruiting for a Community Fundraising Manager to join our Fundraising team. The role will be instrumental in the Foundation’s engagement with different communities and building fundraising partnerships across a range of community audiences, including youth and education, sports clubs, community groups and individuals doing their own activities. You will be responsible for growing our existing community products such as Turn Cricket Red as well as introducing new products and initiatives to generate growth in Community Fundraising. Part of a small team, you will develop key relationships within the RSF network of supporters, suppliers and delivery partners and manage a portfolio of events and activities for a range of supporter groups.

- Project Manage the delivery of the community fundraising programme at RSF, leading on activity working group meetings, coordinating with key stakeholders to ensure campaigns, activities and events are managed efficiently
- Work closely with the schools lead and school manager to grow our schools fundraising programme – working collaboratively so the training programme objectives are also met
- Develop a long-term growth strategy for Turn Cricket Red – focused on maximising current opportunities as well as diversifying to increase our reach
- Deliver high value supporter stewardship to increase lifetime value and impact of their fundraising
- Build and maintain a variety of community relationships across varying stakeholders and seniority, ensuring opportunities for growth are maximised
- Alongside the team, co-ordinate event/activity logistics including but not limited to sales, bookings and liaison with supporters and suppliers, material production, promotion, set up, and delivery
- Oversee relationship with key providers of event fundraising mechanisms such as online donation platforms, auction platforms and text to donate services
- Work with colleagues to ensure all events are adequately supported with staff, volunteers and hosts, and that all stakeholders receive appropriate training/ briefing and post event debriefs
- Work with the Head of MarComms and Digital to produce engaging fundraising collateral and information for event and community supporters including pre and post event communications/marketing collateral, working with external production companies where required
- Ensure all events and activities are compliant with fundraising code of conduct, GDPR and other event processes/policies
- Oversee the use of the CRM system to ensure data is recorded in compliance to Data Protection and GDPR and maximises output for supporter journeys
- Use sector trends and audience analysis to direct strategy and ensure that RSF remains innovative and at the forefront of Community fundraising

What we are looking for:
- Experience of designing and delivering successful Community fundraising events and activities

In early 2018, Ruth Strauss, the wife of Sir Andrew Strauss the former England cricket captain, was diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers. Ruth died on December 29th 2018; she was 46 years old and mother to two children, then aged 10 and 13.

You’ll oversee our approach to talent attraction, ensuring every stage of the recruitment journey is inclusive, efficient and engaging. From managing senior-level hiring to partnering with executive search firms, you’ll play a central role in bringing great people into the charity. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Learning and Development, and Volunteering to shape and deliver a recruitment strategy that removes barriers for marginalised groups—particularly Black men—and improves representation across the charity.

Beyond recruitment and reward, you’ll act as a trusted partner to senior leaders and managers, offering practical coaching and advice on complex employee relations issues and people management matters. What we want from you
We’re looking for a Senior People Partner who will bring solid experience in HR and recruitment—whether through a CIPD or REC Level 4/5 qualification or equivalent hands-on experience. You’re passionate about people, motivated to make a difference, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
You’ll have in-depth knowledge of current employment legislation and best practice and experienced in building effective relationships with senior leaders, managers and employees, you’ll be skilled at managing complex employee relations cases. You’ll know how to approach people matters with fairness, care, and good judgement and is able to respond constructively to complex situations, supporting fair and balanced outcomes.
You’re someone who builds strong relationships quickly. Whether you’re coaching a manager, advising senior leaders, or supporting a colleague through change, you’re a trusted, approachable presence who communicates clearly and with integrity. Ideally, you’ll also have experience as a line manager.
You’ll have experience supporting recruitment from end to end and analysing recruitment data to spot trends and drive improvements. You’ll also have a good understanding of pay and reward, and how to make sure these approaches are fair, sustainable and aligned with an organisation’s goals.

Key Responsibilities
Oversight of the Spear Programme
Spear Foundation is a 4-week initial phase, consisting of 2 group sessions plus a 1:1 with each trainee per week, in which we coach young people around skills and mindsets to support them in returning to work or education, and equip them with the skills to stay there.
- Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Assistant Coach.
- Oversee all aspects of the programme coordination and delivery.
- Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report to Resurgo and the church on enrolment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees, as well as their ongoing progress.
Partnership liaison and relationship management
- Build and implement a strategy for developing and maintaining relationships with local referral partners to build the profile of the Spear programme within Ipswich and ensure the young people who would benefit from the programme are able to access it.
- Steward relationships with young people after initial point of contact, to encourage enrolment and ensure a full cohort is enrolled for each programme.
Line management and training
- Manage the Spear Assistant Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
- Work with and be managed by River Church staff locally, and by a Church Partnerships Manager from Resurgo on a national level, to ensure the flourishing of the Spear centre, its team and young people, and to ensure the fulfilment of our shared mission in Ipswich.
- Work with and report to Resurgo teams on KPIs, and use outcomes data to maximise the effectiveness of the programme.
Supporting River Church’s mission and ministry
- Establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement of church members and to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme, though it is not a requirement of the role for the successful candidate to join River Church as their worshipping community if they are already part of another local church
- Work with the Head of Operations and the Fundraising Assistant to prepare grant funding applications for Spear Ipswich, and provide timely grant reporting.
- Keep the River Church congregation updated on the Spear programme to ensure it is a seamless part of the church’s missional work.
