Who we are
Set up in 2014 on the Doncaster Royal Infirmary site Aurora Wellbeing began life as a breast cancer charity and was established as a CIO (1166462) in April 2016. Aurora Well being Services now provides community-based health, heritage, and wellbeing services to the local community and cancer patients.
Our services are available to individuals of all ages across three sites in Bassetlaw Doncaster and Mexborough. Our team of skilled and experienced professionals and volunteers are committed to providing personalised care and tailored treatment plans to meet everyone’s unique needs.
Our Services:
Community & Support Groups
- A wide range of social activities. Craft group, Lacemaking. Knit and Natter. Children’s small group half-term activities.
- A range of support groups that we either support or work in partnership to deliver. They include prostate cancer support. Time for you and Bussom Buddies specifically aimed at people with breast cancer. Bereavement support group.
Heritage & Creative Activities
- Heritage and wellbeing activities. For example. Aurora singers. Object handling. Heritage walks and talk. Art club. Men’s group (woodwork). Photography group and Creative writing. All our groups support people with underlying physical or mental health conditions recover and/or manage their illness
Cancer Support Services
- Exercise programmes for the public; elderly frail or people recovering from illness and a specific cancer rehabilitation programme
- A range of beauty and holistic therapies ranging from ‘feel good treatments’ aiming to build confidence and self-esteem to specific treatments that help reduce anxiety and stress and/or support pain management. (All cancer patients can access six free treatments).
- Specialist counselling support for adult’s face to face- telephone or zoom and digital workshops. We provide art therapy for children who are experiencing or affected by cancer. A specialist 8-week loss and identity programme – based around creative therapy
Diverse Retail Ventures
- Our Aurora Charity Shop is well supported by the community and provides pre-loved clothing at affordable
- Valerie’s Tearooms provides a friendly and welcoming space to support people who are experiencing food poverty to access economical nutritious meals
Our exercise classes and beauty/holistic therapy treatments are available to the public for a small fee.
