Job Purpose
This is an exciting time to join our small and impactful team, as we embark on a new four-year strategy, with goals to broaden and deepen our reach and impact, diversify our funding and delivery partnerships, and boost our programmes to support year 6 to 7 transition and tutor career development opportunities.
The Tutor Coordinator will be the first point of contact for tutors and be responsible for tutor communication, allocation, and management. The role will ensure that tutors are equipped with the information and tools needed to deliver brilliant lessons for our pupils, while ensuring the programme operations for tutors are streamlined, automated, and running smoothly to enhance both pupil results and the tutor experience. You will also support our CEO and Tutor & Partnerships Manager to shape and deliver inspiring new opportunities for our tutors, working with corporate partners across a range of sectors.
The Tutor Coordinator will be involved in the tutor's journey from attraction right through to becoming a graduate and alumni of Tutors United. This will involve assisting with the processes of tutor recruitment, training and observations, alongside working with tutor timetables and allocating tutors to our various sites. The Tutor Coordinator ensures that tutors are
well supported in their role, including assisting tutors to provide a safe teaching environment by following safeguarding procedures, supporting tutors’ mental health through wellbeing initiatives, and helping tutors to be the best they can in their delivery of high quality lessons.
The Tutor Coordinator is a varied role, which represents the many different aspects of the tutor's involvement in and importance to Tutors United. The Tutor Coordinator will be working alongside the wider Programmes and Tutor Teams, with a focus on working with tutors within day-to-day operations.

HELPING STUDENTS GET FURTHER
One in three students leave school each year without a pass in GCSE English and maths - this rises to over one in two for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Without GCSEs in English and maths, these young people are significantly more likely to drop out of education and are locked out of key professions, apprenticeships, and university courses.
Get Further exists to change this. Our charity has an award-winning tuition programme that helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds in further education to pass GCSEs in English or maths. We place highly qualified, specialist English and maths tutors in further education, who deliver a bespoke curriculum that builds confidence and skills in these core subjects.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
As a Programme Coordinator, you will work directly with Programme Managers to build and manage positive relationships, respond to and resolve queries and act as the first point of contact across our three main stakeholder groups: students, tutors, and college staff.
The key outcomes for this role are:
Students: Across the academic year you will be responsible for a portfolio of up to 300 students, ensuring that they maintain engagement with tutoring and that all available spaces on your programmes are filled.
Tutors: You will lead the task management of tutors who deliver to the students in your portfolio, ensuring that the tutors deliver high-quality tutoring to small groups of students and that attendance to sessions is consistently high.
College staff: You will build relationships with staff across colleges in your portfolio, to ensure logistics are smooth, programmes are launched effectively and on time, and that we maintain regular communication and reporting with our college partners on programme delivery.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme Coordination
- Planning and preparation for each programme within your portfolio of college partnerships, ensuring that programmes are launched on time and with smooth logistics.
- Timetabling sessions, matching tutors based in your region to available sessions in your portfolio and recording timetables in shift scheduling software (Shiftbase).
- Managing data, keeping up-to-date records, and monitoring attendance and completion of baseline and final assessment and survey data through our CRM system (Salesforce).
- Prioritising safeguarding and the safety of the young people we work with, including following every element of safeguarding policy without fail.
Communication and Marketing
- Promoting the tuition programme to students onsite across the college campuses in your portfolio, ensuring that all available spaces (up to 300) are filled across the duration of the programme.
- Developing new approaches to maximise student engagement with tutoring, identifying quickly what the most effective strategies are for the students who attend the colleges in your portfolio.
- Ensuring effective, regular communication with the tutors who deliver to students in your portfolio, including responding to queries in a timely manner, and signposting tutors to additional development opportunities within Get Further
Relationship-building
- Working closely with college staff, to ensure that our tuition programme runs effectively. This includes programme preparations, particularly on logistics, ensuring that plans are in place to ensure that rooms have been identified for tutoring, that tutors are able to access these rooms, and that resources are available onsite.
- Maintaining effective working relationships with key college staff, keeping them up to date on programme developments, and reporting to them on attendance and impact on a regular basis.
- Supporting timely data collection on our delivery and impact from our FE partners and producing impact reports for each partnership in your portfolio.
Task Management
- Overseeing the successful delivery of tasks that Lead Tutors are responsible for, including monitoring their progress against attendance call KPIs, and providing them with support to ensure attendance to tuition sessions is consistently high across your portfolio of colleges. From time to time, you may be required to assist with the delivery of attendance calls to students, providing extra capacity to ensure that engagement with tuition is sustained for the duration of the programme.
- Holding regular touch-point meetings with your Lead Tutors to ensure that they are on track a
- Maintaining high standards across the delivery of tuition in your portfolio, carrying out session observations and providing feedback to tutors.
Championing Get Further
- Working closely with the wider Get Further Team to ensure that we achieve our charity’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Ensuring accuracy in your record keeping and data input, so that Get Further can effectively report and evaluate its programmes to achieve positive system change for students in further education.
- Representing Get Further's vision and values at external events and meetings with stakeholders.

Summary of the role
Following the successful conclusion of the Making the Exceptional Happen campaign (which raised over £71m) attention is turning to a future campaign in support of the University’s 2030 strategy which has three core themes: sustainability (greener); improving human health and wellbeing (healthier); and creating a fair and inclusive society (fairer).
Aligned to the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), you will plan, develop and produce fundraising proposals to trusts and foundations of a consistently high quality. These bids will be tailored to the needs of a wide range of funders based both in the UK and internationally. You will influence the trust and foundation fundraising strategy and take an active role annual planning. You will have direct responsibility for securing significant new funds to support the university’s strategic objectives. You will work closely with academics and senior university leaders to create funding proposals. You will be expected to build personal relationships with key trust and foundation contacts (trustees/administrators) and to find ways to open doors to new trusts and foundations by exploring the networks of academics and supporters. The work will focus particularly on major proposals for grants of £100k or more.
With a significant track record of securing major gifts from Trusts and Foundations through your own endeavours and delivering against financial targets, you will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise confidentially and diplomatically both externally and internally at all levels and to a range of audiences.

About You
The successful candidate will be employed by the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s host organisation, The Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. The new team member will be pivotal in the delivery of the Peatland Programme’s objectives to champion peatland values. They will have the level of knowledge and experience to drive forward and promote peatland restoration in the UK and be able to advocate the multiple benefits of peatlands through partnerships, strong science, sound policy and effective practice, and communication.
They are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Communications and Engagement Lead to drive and deliver the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s communications activity to promote the benefits of healthy peatlands to a national audience. This will be done primarily through establishing and maintaining good relationships with external contacts and partners and using these networks to identify opportunities and to build the Programme’s reach. You will lead the production of communications materials through design and appropriate messaging, assist their advocacy work, and plan and deliver events such as online workshops and their annual conference.
They are looking for someone who is passionate about communicating peatlands to a wide audience and is creative and proactive in their approach. The peatland agenda has expanded exponentially over the last 10 years and you will need to be an excellent team player and networker to capture what is happening and communicate this to multiple partners and stakeholders. The Communications and Engagement Lead post is a standalone communications post within a small team (9 people) and your ability to quickly develop good relationships with partner organisations will be critical to your success in the role.
You will be lead on the delivery of the communications strand of the Peatland Programme’s activity. You should have experience of designing publications, creating digital content, newsletters, running stakeholder events and managing social media accounts. You will support the wider Peatland Programme team in networking, identifying opportunities for collaboration, as well as in the production of resources such as briefings and web content.

Job Overview:

Background:
National FASD is dedicated to supporting people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), their families and communities. It promotes education for professionals and public awareness about the risks of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. National FASD is a source for information on FASD to the general public, press and to medical, social care and educational professionals.
Role purpose:
The organisation is going through a period of growth and needs a proactive, experienced financial/admin coordinator to help us ensure our financial oversight administration runs smoothly and efficiently as we grow the organisation. This person will work closely with our Chief Executive.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Working with bookkeeper and accountants overseeing accounts, budgeting, financial reporting and management accounts
- Preparing regular financial updates and other documentation for trustees' meetings
- Exploring ways to develop internal financial systems to sustain long-term growth

Location:

The national office is based in Ware, Hertfordshire, with on-site parking and within a short walking distance of the train station.

Person specification
The ideal candidate will be dynamic and creative, energised by the idea of contributing to a charity with an important mission. Candidates should be at ease with computers and budgeting, and be ready to work with a team of consultants, colleagues and like-minded organisations to ensure National FASD is implementing best practices financially and administratively with sensitivity for our key stakeholders and under the guidance of our trustees.
Qualifications:
- Preferably at least 3 years’ experience working in a related field, either in paid work or through volunteering

- Experience with FASD (or another neurodevelopmental condition) either through professional experience or lived experience is preferred

- Ensure that the Women on the Front Line (WFL) programme strategy and implementation stages are clearly communicated to stakeholders on regular basis.

- Maintain positive relationships with the largely volunteer WFL committee leaders, ensuring diary commitments for the WFL work are upheld and volunteers are aware of and able to participate in regular meeting cycles and events.
- Responsible for the day-to-day administration of WFL. For example, booking regular WFL meetings, setting up online meetings, taking minutes and actions in meetings, circulating minutes to stakeholders.
- Write reports to senior managers, trusts and funding bodies.
- A salary of £15,567.20 (FTE £38,918) per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of salary.
- 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years) plus three additional days
