About the role:

You will lead and support a team of Homicide Family Caseworkers to meet service standards & contractual requirements. You will demonstrate the organisational skills required to manage a demanding & diverse workload and will have experience of achieving key performance indicators.

You will have excellent communication skills & will support the Operation Managers to maintain the highest standards of service delivery, across a widely geographically dispersed team. Your team will cover Central and East of England including; South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedforshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex.

You must live within one of these areas and be prepared to travel across the geographical area including occasional overnight stays to ensure you can meet team members in person as well as online. This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. If you are unable to drive because of a disability please indicate this in your application in your personal statement so we can explore the feasibility of alternative arrangements.

You will enjoy working closely with a range of stakeholders (including Police Family Liaison Officers and Senior Investigation Officers within the Major Crime teams/Social Services) & be able to build constructive working relationships, focused on delivering the best service for vulnerable service users. You should be a confident presenter, and able to share the service and work we do to inform, educate and encourage notifications and referrals into the service.

Background The Ubele Initiative was established in 2014 as an African Diaspora led intergenerational social enterprise. Our mission is helping to build more sustainable black and racially minoritized communities across the UK. Ubele is unique in that it was built from bottom-up and is intentionally an intergenerational organisation. Over the past few years, we have designed and delivered a wide range of local, regional, national, and international initiatives which seek to create and build community wealth. We support black and racially minoritized community led organisations and groups with their community assets (physical space, organisations, and people). We use social action, community enterprise development, participatory learning & skills development, and next generation leadership initiatives.

About The Role As the Time to Shine (T2S) leader you will make a direct contribution to two key areas of work: our intergenerational leadership programmes and our approaches to capturing and recording our social impact measurements. In order to meet the criteria for the T2S programme we are seeking candidates who are unemployed or underemployed. This role is designed to be an entry level role and therefore we recognise that candidates may have limited work experience but can have a wealth of experience from other activities and we would love to hear about how those skills can transfer to this role. The T2S leader will be introduced to and have the opportunity to practice using innovative approaches to leadership development, processes and models which support Black women’s and young women’s growth and confidence building as community leaders. • Mentorship Strategies: Contribute to the design and implementation of mentorship initiatives that foster intergenerational connections. These strategies should help promote the transfer of knowledge, skills, and experience between seasoned and emerging leaders, supporting holistic leadership development.

• Support the design and co-ordination of a national Women of Colour Leadership Summit – April 2025 • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify leadership development needs and opportunities. Social Impact Measurement

• Data Collection and Analysis: Contribute to refining and enhancing our data collection methodologies to ensure accurate measurement of programme effectiveness. Supporting the development of robust systems for capturing relevant data and analysing results.

• Learning and then implementing creative data collection methods and processes to enhance reach and engagement

• Impact Reporting: Contribute to creating and maintaining impact reports that communicate the outcomes and value of our programmes. Reports should be clear, compelling, and supported by data, highlighting the achievements and areas for improvement.

• Programme Evaluation: contribute to using data insights to inform programmatic adjustments and strategic decisions. Regularly evaluate programme performance and suggest improvements based on findings to enhance overall effectiveness and efficiency. General

Reporting: The T2S Leader will report directly to the Yvonne Field. Engagement will include regular meetings to review progress, set priorities, and address any challenges. The task for the Regional Adoption Agency is to ensure that all children who have a plan for adoption are given every chance to have that ambition realised and when placed in a permanent family receive the relevant support as their needs change and develop.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Family Finding Social Worker or Senior Practitioner wishing to play an active role in the delivery and development of a high-quality family finding service for the London Borough of Hillingdon, for children with a plan for adoption.

The post holder will be one of two professionals responsible for family finding for children with a care plan of adoption within the local area.

The post holder will be part of a small and very supportive team to develop practise and skills in this area. The post holder will also be able to have access resources and services within Hillingdon to support this role and be part of a bigger network of support from colleagues from across the RAA. This role will function as 6 month fixed contract with the possibility of an extension to offer continuity to the children we are family finding for.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Family Support Service sits within AFRUCA as one of our most impactful programmes targeting families from a range of ethnic backgrounds across England and Wales. The service works closely with local authorities children’s services in cases involving families on child protection plans or in court proceedings. We provide direct one to one training and support for parents to aid their ability to provide appropriate parenting and ensure a safer, happier home environment for their children.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Service currently has a team of five qualified social workers and supports over 50 families each year. We also provide a therapeutic service where children are being reunified with their parents. We are establishing a child protection legal drop in service for families in contact with children’s services and an advocacy service for parents in the child protection system.

Most of our families are referred by local authorities children’s services as a result of cultural and religious practices which are deemed harmful to children’s well-being. We offer qualified social workers who do not wish to work in the statutory sector with an alternative approach to practising social work where empathy, kindness and support is key to our work with families. Our ultimate aim is a reduction of children in Black and Ethnic communities going into or remaining in foster care. We offer a non oppressive and non judgemental service that helps to promote the well-being of children in safe families.

They will also grow the organisations relationships with journalists, channel owners, celebrities, ambassadors, and other influencers to ensure that our media communications activity supports our organisational objective to tackle poverty in later life.    

You should have broad experience of developing and implementing innovative, successful profile-raising plans (across digital and traditional channels).  You will bring an ability to work both proactively and reactively, and experience of handling reputational or crisis issues. You should also have a passion for, and affinity with, the charity’s cause.
