Job Summary
Community Mental Health Transformation is part of a long-term plan to improve mental health services. Big Life group has commissioned Gaddum to support the development of the lived experience input in a key system change project for the improvement people’s experiences of services. Greater Manchester’s Co-Occurring Conditions project is centred on those who have concurrent mental health and substance use challenges.
Job Purpose
To support the development of lived experience engagement within the co-occurring conditions workstream. You will support people with lived experience to attend and contribute to design and testing session of services and systems.
You will work with the GM Co-Occurring Conditions Team and wider partners across GM to ensure lived experience is at the heart of mental health services in Greater Manchester.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support people with lived experience to engage with the Co-Occurring Conditions workstream.
2. Attendance at events and publicising the programme.
3. Organising and ensuring involvement at Co-occurring Conditions meetings.
4. Developing community interest Representation across Coproduction internally and building opportunities across community led groups and peer groups.
5. Developing Lived Experience activities to encourage collaboration, information sharing and opportunities.
6. Identify and, wherever possible, remove barriers to panel member participation including but not limited to travel, childcare, carer responsibilities and translation costs.
7. Work collaboratively with other coproduction leads across Gaddum.
8. Manage the recruitment specific additional members for each of these opportunities, depending on the theme of the event.
9. Ensure that Lived Experience members, whether from the core group or single invitees, are properly off boarded.
10.Maintain records and data and to provide regular monitoring reports and outcomes, including end of project evaluation report.
11.Contribute to Gaddum newsletters, website, and meetings, sharing information and learning form the programme.

Job Purpose
The postholder will be responsible for two key organisational areas:
- Practice Education to an allocation of student social workers: 80% of workload
- Support with induction planning and administrative tasks relevant to the student placement programme: 20% of workload
The postholder will be responsible for providing student social workers with effective, high-quality supervision and support throughout their practice placements and maintaining accurate records of student work undertaken to inform holistic assessments of students’ practice. This role will entail stakeholder engagement both with internal leaders and external partners. The role will involve maintaining close working relationships and crossover workstreams with the Business Support Team, Health & Safety systems, and compliance responsibilities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Student Social Work Placements:
• Maintain relationships with key placement providers through provision of high-quality practice education,

Age UK Mid Mersey are offering a great opportunity to join our professional, innovative and dedicated team to help launch a new lottery funded Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) programme in Mid Mersey’s four boroughs: Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Warrington.
Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) is a weekly group programme for people living with mild to moderate dementia or cognitive impairment.
Group members take part in meaningful and stimulating activities, proven to help maintain memory and mental functioning. The groups provide a fun, supportive environment where people can build new friendships.
Activities include:
- discussions
- word games
- quizzes
- physical activities
- creative and musical activities.
Cognitive Stimulation is the only non-drug treatment recommended to improve cognition, independence and well-being by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
Alongside the MCST group sessions the programme will also provide advice, information and facilitated peer support for the carers of groups members.
The MCST Team Leader will lead a small team of MCST group facilitators, Carer Support workers and volunteers.
The Team Leader will plan programmes, provide support and supervision to staff, and ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and standards. They will be responsible for undertaking initial assessment visits with clients in their own homes to ensure the MCST programme is appropriate for them.
Travel across Mid-Mersey is expected so the post holder must have access to their own vehicle and a full clean driving licence.
Full training in MCST will be provided alongside management training and mentoring.

Age UK Mid Mersey has just been awarded National Lottery funding to develop and deliver evidence-based Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) group programmes for older people experiencing cognitive impairment or who are diagnosed with mild to moderate dementia. MCST is a weekly group programme for people living with mild to moderate dementia or cognitive impairment. Group members take part in meaningful and stimulating activities, proven to help maintain memory and mental functioning. The groups provide a fun, supportive environment where people can build new friendships.
The programme will be overseen by an MCST Team Leader and delivered by a team of four MCST Facilitators, who will work in delivery pairs, and two carers support workers. One MCST Facilitator pair will deliver 2 group sessions a week in Halton and Warrington and the other pair in St Helens and Knowsley.
We are recruiting four part-time MCST Facilitators who will work in delivery pairs. One pair will deliver group programmes in Halton and Warrington and be based in our Runcorn Office. The other pair will deliver programmes in St Helens and Knowsley and be based at our head office in St Helens.
The facilitators will work closely with the MCST Team Leader to plan and deliver MCST programmes in their two Boroughs. Each programme will run for 12 weeks and will consist of four-hour activity sessions with a shared lunch. Facilitators will adapt the session delivery to meet the needs and specific interests of group participants ensuring the sessions are engaging and meaningful.
Facilitators will also work closely with the carers support workers and ensure that joined up support is provided to participants and their significant others.
Travel across Mid-Mersey is expected so the post holder must have access to their own vehicle and a full clean driving licence.

Bringing the Mast Cell Activation Syndrome community together
Our client is a small UK rare disease charity. Our client established at the end of 2015 to respond to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). MCAS is a crippling, unpredictable and frightening condition affecting the immune system. Sufferers from MCAS have “wrongly programmed” immune systems that react to a wide range of triggers including food, drink, stress, temperature and many others. The effects range from unpleasant allergic reactions, through to an overall debilitation resulting in people being unable to leave their houses. It was first recognised internationally in 1990, with a set of diagnostic criteria agreed in 2011, but is little known or understood in the UK, where incidence seems to be increasing. Here patients can wait 3-5 years for a diagnosis, often receive very little knowledge or help from within the medical establishment and can find themselves in a frightening limbo.
Their mission is to provide support for MCAS patients & their families; to bring the MCAS community together and create a cohesive voice; to lobby for awareness, universally available diagnosis and the best possible care for MCAS patients; and to inspire increased research into mast cell activation and related conditions, to improve understanding and treatment.

We are looking to recruit a Mental Health Project Worker who will be based at our Cornerstone Day Centre, a community centre for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The project worker will actively promote and support the aims and objectives of the Cornerstone Health Hub and the Cornerstone Homeless Mental Health Project.
The Mental Health Project Worker will help to develop the service as a psychologically and trauma informed service, focusing on achieving mental health outcomes establishing positive, effective links and referral pathways with mental health services. You will work in the drop-in identifying people in need of mental health interventions, recognising when mental health is deteriorating, or urgent treatment is needed and will take appropriate action.
You will have a strength-based approach and experience of working in a community mental health setting with people who have complex needs and will contribute positively to the multi-disciplinary team.
Additionally, you must be a mental health nurse or have an equivalent professional mental health qualification along with excellent communication skills, good IT and administration skills with knowledge of effective mental health interventions and referral pathways.
The hours of the role are flexible but to be worked with the core working hours, 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.

Working as part of Signpost Stockport for Carers’ team to provide high quality support to unpaid carers. Working in partnership with Age UK Stockport’s Hospital Discharge Support team to contribute to, and in close collaboration with, the NHS Integrated Care Business staff team and other partners and stakeholders within the system.
To work positively to provide appropriate services to the unpaid carers of those Stockport residents who are being discharged from Hospital. The role is focused on working with carers, within their homes or other setting(s) that is appropriate and convenient for the carer, to ensure that they have the information and support they need when the person for whom they care is discharged, not only in that moment but for up to six weeks following that discharge.
The Hospital Discharge Community Carer Support Worker will need to demonstrate alignment with our organisation’s values:
CONNECTION – This person must be able to build relationships with a variety of people, including service users, stakeholders and staff. This is a key role in a small and busy team and this person must be willing to share with, and learn from, colleagues offering peer support and training, and cover for other staff on an occasional basis.
COMPASSION – To have an understanding of the issues faced by those with a caring responsibility and how this may impact the carer’s ability to engage with the process.
EMPOWERMENT – To recognise the role of the carers assessment review in facilitating change and celebrating what the carer is doing well.

Key tasks
To work as part of the team to deliver meaningful carer and service outcomes, within the remit of the contract specifications and requirements and current Hospital Discharge policy, as updated from time to time.

About the Accelerating Reform Fund
The Accelerating Reform Fund is a new initiative which aims to transform social care services, making them more responsive to the needs of the community. It is a national programme, with 42 regions allocated to have their own projects. Greater Manchester is one of the ARF regions. The ARF has a particular focus on unpaid carers aims to boost short-term breaks for carers and improve hospital discharge processes. This work is made possible by Department for Health and Social Care grants. What are the responsibilities of the Independent Child Trafficking Guardian:
Support for Children: Independent Child Trafficking Guardians support children who have experienced trafficking and exploitation, working alongside other professionals to ensure that children receive appropriate support in line with their needs.
Within this role some of your responsibilities will be:
- Supporting professionals, including Social Workers, Police, Youth Justice Teams, Foster Carers and Residential Support Workers, to identify children exploited through modern slavery and refer them into the Service
- Provide advice, guidance and information about child trafficking and initial safety planning to professionals through 1:1 case consultations or attendance at multi-agency meetings
- Develop initial needs assessments and action plans
- Support practitioners from partner agencies to meet the needs of children who have experienced trafficking and exploitation
- Manage a substantial caseload of young people supported through direct and indirect work, working within the requirements of service Key Performance Indicators and in line with Home Office Guidance.
- Support children through face-to-face contact and online platforms using creative approaches to ensure that children receive an excellent standard of specialist support within the boundaries of the role.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding, alerting managers to concerns and working with staff from partner agencies to deliver a robust safeguarding response.

Support Coordinator

This is an exciting home based opportunity working with stroke survivors and their families to support them following a stroke.
Position: S11228 Stroke Support Coordinator (two positions)
Location: Home-based South Warwickshire, including Rugby. Extensive travel will be required as part of this role (will include team meetings and other work-related meetings)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: Circa £26,700 per annum
Contract: This is a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026. Our services are contracted, we currently have funding for this contract until 31 March 2026.

The Role
Reporting to the Stroke Service Delivery Coach, the coordinators will work with the local Health and Social Care services to receive referrals and support stroke survivors and their carers. As a coordinator you will provide personalised information, advice and support with regular reviews throughout.
Key responsibilities will include:
