Volunteer It Yourself (VIY), is a UK-wide not-for-profit organisation which combines youth skills/employment, volunteering and construction.  We are seeking a new Programme Manager in the West Midlands for an initial 12-month contract. Focus for the role will be leading a regional team on programme delivery, stakeholder management, growing partnerships and identifying/developing new business opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

Project management and delivery

• Work with colleagues and relevant partners to identify and scope a pipeline of strong, impactful projects which will contribute to the KPIs of multiple programmes, align to our strategic objectives and strengthen impact in the region

• Develop appropriate project plans and budgets, with support from VIY’s Regional Lead Mentor team and Project Manager

• Lead the initial set-up and delivery of individual VIY projects on-the-ground, including the engagement of venues and ensuring a strategic approach to the overall venue and youth outcomes of the project

• Work with VIY’s Mentors and Project Management team to ensure a high standard of safety is maintained across these projects

• Oversee and manage project/programme budgets

• Manage any escalated safeguarding issues

Business development and partnership working

• Manage client/funders, reporting on progress and nurturing positive relationships

• Identify new and develop existing national/regional relationships including with the third sector, youth sector, appropriate educational institutions (those who work with young people who are NEET/at risk of NEET), sport sector, construction industry, local authorities, trade sector organisations and other key stakeholders

• Help generate income through new partnerships/funded contracts to support delivery of projects in the region

• Establish strong relationships with key partners such as Travis Perkins, Dulux and Toolstation to enable sourcing of materials and tools for the projects, as well as opening up routes into volunteering opportunities 

• Support to identify, establish and grow relationships with new and existing youth partners to drive young people’s engagement and progressions, ensuring clear and accessible referral routes into VIY projects and beyond, post-project

Leadership/line-management

• Line-manage and support the regional project team to deliver VIY projects, providing appropriate operational support as required and supporting with the escalation of any issues

• Work closely with VIY’s Head of Programmes, to ensure the regional portfolio of projects are collectively on track to deliver the Programmes KPIs

Terms and conditions 

Salary:  £38,000-£42,000 per annum depending on experience
Hours:    Full time. Hours are 9am-5.30pm Monday to Friday. 
 Occasional evening and weekends may be necessary
Leave:  25 days per annum (plus bank holidays), increasing 1 day per year of       employment up to a maximum of 28 days

Contract:  12 month FTC, potential to become permanent

To succeed, you will either have previous experience of supporting community groups in a sector support role, or solid experience of third sector management, governance and fundraising.  You’ll be keen to coach and develop more junior members of your team in these skills, excited by the challenge of delivering this unique service and keen to build on the success of Barnet Together to date.

Trusts and Foundations Manager

This is a new role at the DEC and developed as a key part of the DEC’s 2024-2029 strategy. The DEC has a wide range of established relationships with trusts and foundations, many of which give 6- and 7-figure sums to DEC appeals. The Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for providing excellent stewardship to our portfolio of trusts and foundations.

In addition, the role will also be responsible for cultivating new relationships for the DEC through thorough research, and through the prospect development cycle, to raise money for DEC appeals. In addition to appeal fundraising, the Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for delivering on a new core cost fundraising strategy, in close partnership with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships.

Demonstrable, transferable trusts and foundations experience and knowledge, (preferably within the humanitarian & charity sector), will hold you in good stead for this exciting new role. 

Key responsibilities include:

Strategic Development: Develop and manage the trusts and foundations portfolio and create compelling proposals for future appeals and core costs income. Showcase new ideas and innovative approaches for growing and developing a pipeline of new prospects. Develop engaging stewardship plans.  

Administrative Compliance: Lead and manage, robust and professional grant management, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose, streamlined and accessible. Remain compliant with grant terms and conditions, ensuring you are clearly communicating the unique contours of the DEC model whilst providing comprehensive and inspiring impact reporting.

Relationship Management: Maintain regular contact and collaboration with internal teams to collate a high-quality suite of communication materials and stewardship plans specific to a trust and foundation audience. Proactively reach out and build long-lasting relationships with funders to reach ambitious fundraising targets.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor, measure and evaluate progress against the DEC’s strategic goals and funds raised from trusts and foundations. Prepare regular reports for senior management and trustees on the development, progress and future strategic actions for trusts and foundations at the DEC.

Essential qualities, experience, knowledge, skills, include:

• A track record of securing five- and six-figure donations from trusts and foundations.
• Experience of successfully executing cultivation plans and retaining positive, key relationships with trusts and foundations on behalf of a charity.
• Experience of producing professional and compelling funding propositions for a trust and foundation audience.
• Experience of delivering highly engaging and personalised stewardship journeys and meeting the reporting requirements of charitable trusts and foundations
• High level of technical ability with appropriate computer software packages and data analysis and visualisation software [i.e., Microsoft Office, Adobe, Box].
• Proven financial acumen to comfortably evaluate financial information and manage budgets.
• High attention to detail and numerate accuracy in analysing and using data and financial information, to write coherent reports.
• Clear and confident communicator both orally and in writing [in English].
• Able to present persuasively and influence decision making.
• Able to use initiative and judgement to proactively identify and resolve problems.

The Spear Centre Manager will work as part of the River Church staff team to oversee the delivery of Spear—an employability programme equipping and empowering unemployed 16-24 year-olds to overcome barriers to employment and their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

Key Responsibilities

Website

• Responsibility for maintenance and development of Resurgo’s website, delivering engaging content with a focus on dynamic visuals and videos, tailored to our different website audiences.

Partnership liaison and relationship management

Oversight of Spear Programme Spear

Foundation is a 4-week initial phase, consisting of 2 group sessions and a 1:1 with each trainee per week, in which we coach young people around skills and mindsets to support them in returning to work or education, and equip them with the skills to stay there.

• As a confident communicator, you will lead group sessions of around 10 young people each, using coaching skills to transform attitudes to their own ability and the workplace, and to raise their awareness and maximise potential in stepping into the world of work.
• Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Assistant Coach.
• Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report KPIs on recruitment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees to Resurgo and the Spear Trust, as well as their ongoing progress and sustainment of work or education

Line management and training

• Manage the Assistant Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
• Be line managed by River Church staff, locally, and by Resurgo, nationally, to support with the set-up and ongoing operations of the centre and report back on KPI.

Supporting River Church’s mission and ministry

• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members, and help the Assistant coaches to establish a strong presence at the church to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme.
• Ensuring the Spear programme is a key missional feature of the work of the church
• Work with the Head of Operations and Fundraising Assistant to prepare successful grant funding applications for Spear Ipswich, and provide timely grant reporting.
• Attend and participate in Staff Meeting, Tuesday morning Prayer Meeting, and Sunday Services (serving on a team at one or more Sunday service) • Regularly pray for Spear, River Church, and in particular our Social Transformation work.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

• Oversee daily operations, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and effectively

• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and to comply with stakeholder contracts and agreements and  all relevant regulations and legal requirements.

• Oversee programme administration processes to ensure the efficient management of these areas

Financial and Funding Management:

• Oversee financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, and ensure compliance with financial regulations with Financial Manager

HR Management:

• Work with the CEO/Engagement Manager to ensure that Appeer CIC fulfils its duties and responsibilities associated with internal and external contracts and agreements

• Act as Appeer’s Data Controller for GDPR purposes

• Maintain the organisation’s Risk Register and coordinate a formal quarterly review  and report to the CEO

• Maintain accurate records and ensure robust reporting mechanisms are in place

• Act as the channel of communication with Appeer’s insurers and, legal advisers when issues arise, keeping the CEO and Board informed as necessary

About APPEER

Appeer is a Community Interest Company (CIC) set up to deliver services that support autistic girls and women (and those assigned female at birth) to connect with peers, to develop their life/work skills and to support their wellbeing.   Over the past 5 years our founder and current CEO has taken the vision of creating a community where autistic girls and women can connect from a small, passionate team into a robust and impactful organisation.

We provide  In Person and Online Activity groups and programmes, Alternative Provision, events and resources for those in the community that we serve, their parents/carers and other professionals. We are not a therapeutic setting and as such do not offer clinical support or 1:1 supervision.

Working for a small , resident led , community organisation your role will be to develop and deliver a range of projects and activities for local residents . You will have experience of similar work in a community setting and be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of projects and staff . You will work to develop partnerships with a range of local organisations , both statutory and voluntary , with a view to deleloping new projects and representing resident's interests . You will also undertake some fundraising and deputise for the Chief Executive as required.

To help us in this next phase of development, we are recruiting for a newly created position - Senior Evaluation and Data Manager. This exciting role will report to the Director of Learning and Impact and work alongside the Senior Evaluation and Research Manager. The role will have two main areas of focus. First, the role will help lead a rolling schedule of formative evaluations on activities in local sites including pre-and-post quantitative outcomes analysis. Second, the role will support local learning and high-quality implementation through harnessing the power of quantitative data.  

You will be a skilled evaluation and learning professional with strong skills in quantitative data analysis. You will also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and committed to the need for continued learning and improvement, as a basis for achieving Thrive at Five’s ambition to develop an effective and replicable place-based model for supporting early childhood development.

About the role

Sightsavers Ghana office is currently seeking a Programme Manager to implement, develop, design, and monitor in country projects. The Programme Manager will also identify and contribute to programme growth and development in collaboration with partners and colleagues.

The Programme Manager duties include;

• Supporting partners by providing technical advice and expertise on the core thematic areas of Sightsavers work and give guidance to ensure the successful implementation of projects.
• Support the development and implementation of country advocacy plans in line with projects and represent Sightsavers at the appropriate forums with partners and stakeholders.
• Lead on partnership assessment initiatives and develop a coherent plan of partner capacity building, and support project officers in the implementation of those plans.
• Oversee the work of the Programme Officers to manage all aspects of the project cycle including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation to ensure project documentation and reporting is of a high quality and meets donor/compliance requirements.
• Ensure that all aspects of the programme are effectively monitored and evaluated on an ongoing basis and that learning is systematically used to continuously improve all projects and programmes, in country and share across the organisation.
• Work collaboratively with Senior Programme Manager and finance colleagues to monitor project budget and expenditure, advising on financial trends and to support the strengthening of partner financial capacity.
• Lead the programme team to develop a plan for the office which reflects country and organizational priorities and deadlines and use this to ensure effective ongoing programme delivery.
• Support the Senior Programme Manager to contributes individual and country learning/ experience into broader organisational learning and policy development.
• Support the country team in developing a system for monitoring and evaluating country programme portfolio performance.
• Provide direction and support to assist country research teams and help them to identify operational research opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of NTD elimination efforts, prevention of avoidable blindness and visual impairment as well as promoting social inclusion issues.
• Assist project teams and country Ministries of Health in disseminating information on social inclusion and NTD activities, studies, research and lessons learned at national and international level.
• Act as the first point of contact for any safeguarding incidents or concerns.

Background to School Food Matters

School Food Matters (SFM) exists to teach children about food and to improve children’s access to healthy, sustainable food during their time at school. We provide fully funded food education programmes to schools. Our experience delivering these programmes informs and strengthens our campaigns, bringing the voices of children, parents and teachers to government policy.

Healthy Zones programme

Healthy Zones supports primary, secondary and special schools to create a food environment that puts young people's health centre stage. We are working with schools to develop food policies and to improve the food served in their breakfast and after school clubs. The programme uses a whole school approach through hands-on engagement with students, staff, kitchen teams, governors and parents.

Job Purpose

· To promote, develop and deliver the Healthy Zones programme across schools in Southwark and Lambeth

· Support with the expansion of the Healthy Zones programme across other regions in England

Key Tasks include:

•  Recruit schools to take part in Healthy Zones
• Complete food audits in schools looking across the whole school day (training provided)
• Develop and deliver healthy after school club and breakfast club modules (convene working groups in schools, run simple food preparation engagement sessions (training provided), empower student voice, build relationships with the after-school club staff)
• Develop food policy improvements in schools in our six key areas by building relationships with staff, and engaging students, parents and governors
• Build relationships and work closely / maintain relationships with teachers, teaching assistants, cooks and senior leaders in primary and secondary schools in Lambeth and Southwark to improve the food they offer their students
• Build and support relationships with contacts in partner organisations/LAs, and deliver training where necessary
• Collecting data and maintaining accurate records relating to the programme in Airtable
• Work closely with our Evaluation Manager to complete all monitoring and evaluation

• Coordinating our Agile product management process, liaising with developers to implement our website roadmap using backlog refinement, story writing, sprint planning, UAT, etc.
