The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to lead on finance, HR, IT, Data and operations for an ambitious social
mobility charity with an income of £1.5m and a team of 25 people committed to achieving lasting
impact for young people.
As a member of the charity’s four-person Senior Leadership Team, you will report to the CEO and be
responsible for implementing the charity strategy (with accountability for Operations projects),
financial reporting to the Board of Trustees, and championing organisational collaboration, values and
EDI.
As Director of the Operations Department, you will take on a small team - managing an Operations
Officer - to deliver and proactively develop the policies, processes and systems to equip our team to
thrive, and to build the charity’s reputation as a reliable, impactful partner.

About the Operations department
You will lead the Operations department, with responsibility for all finance, HR, recruitment, IT, legal
and operations. The team is currently comprised of:
● An Operations Officer who manages our bookkeeping and day to day finance, staff safeguarding,
staff tech, our office, recruitment, inductions and general operations.
You will also liaise with external parties who offer expert support across HR, IT and accountancy as
required.
Your responsibilities
You will be a senior leader at the organisation, proactively supporting your colleagues and
empowering them to be their best. You will be responsible for several areas of the charity.
Leadership and Strategy
● Deliver our Operations KPIs as part of our strategy; as well as being jointly responsible for
the successful implementation of the full strategy.
● Lead and shape the Operations department, making sure it’s fit for purpose and maximising
resources.
● Work collaboratively with other departments to maximise the success of the charity.
● Champion our values and proactively work to embed them into our culture.
● Oversee the EDI working group and proactively champion EDI across the charity.
● Work closely with the CEO, Chair of Trustees and Chair of Finance Committee to ensure sound
charity governance and risk management.
Finance
● Set and manage our annual budgets (circa £1.5m), supporting heads of departments in
the process
● Report monthly and quarterly on our finances, tracking our income, expenditure and
reserves, and liaising with the board of trustees.
● Oversee our bookkeeping and payroll; input journals as needed and closely monitor
cashflow.
● Manage the end of year accounts and audit process, liaising with the external auditors.
● Lead on organisation, reporting and presenting at Trustee Finance Committee and
relevant agenda items for Trustee Board meetings
Operations, IT and Data
● Manage our office space and future office needs;
● Manage the technology and data strategy, keeping staff tech secure and up to date, and
acting as key liaison with third parties
● Be responsible for upholding our data privacy obligations. Work in partnership with
senior data roles internally to manage GDPR obligations, data security and use of data
for internal and external reporting
● Ensure we meet all statutory and legal requirements with HMRC, CC, ICO etc.
● Oversee the efficient usage of our database, systems and key platforms (including Salesforce,
Xero, website) ensuring we are collecting and analysing relevant data in line with our goals to
grow income and impact, ensuring proportionate resourcing and training
● Leadership of ad hoc Operations and intra-departmental projects as required
People Management
● Oversee the recruitment of new staff, coordinating the process and supporting heads of
departments.
● Oversee the staff journey including inductions, staff surveys, annual reviews, and exits.
● Oversee annual staff development and training needs, including managing our twice yearly
offsites and regular full team days.
● Oversee and support the wellbeing of our team; both directly and through the Wellbeing
working group.
● Maintain our policies and staff handbook, researching and writing/updating policies as
required.
● Support managers with HR queries and issues, liaising with external third party experts as
required.
About you
It’s likely that the successful candidate could come from a range of backgrounds, however you should
be comfortable with challenges presented by the areas below. You might have experience in some
areas and are looking to grow in others.
Your experience
● Managing finances (essential): You have been responsible for budgets, reporting against
budgets and forecasting; you are comfortable with managing the cashflow and accounts of a
small organisation / charity. Knowledge of charity SORP would be helpful.Proficient in Excel
and finance systems (eg Xero) and comfortable with database management.
● Improving processes: You have improved processes, making them more effective and robust,
researched and adopted technology and persuaded / trained people to adopt a new approach.
● Supporting people: You have developed people-related initiatives to improve the working
environment and know what it takes to empower people to be their best.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Director of Income Generation to join our Senior Leadership Team on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. We are looking for candidates across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and this role will be based in our offices or at home but with some travel within England, Wales and Northern Ireland as required.
As a core member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a strategic role in the overall leadership and management of Friends of the Earth. The Role
As a Senior Technical Support Engineer, you will support our IT infrastructure, ensuring our IT solutions are secure and reliable.

Publications, Brand and Content

Assist the Senior Communications Manager in developing and delivering a content strategy to support Settle’s goals.

Maintain brand consistency across all communications and craft clear, engaging messages about Settle’s work.

Collaborate with frontline staff and young people to collect and share their stories in an authentic and respectful way, including creating case studies and helping to develop Settle’s storytelling work.

Design marketing materials and publications, such as newsletters, annual reports and printed flyers for our different audiences. We use InDesign for our large-scale design projects, while we use Canva for our day-to-day projects. You don’t necessarily need experience of both of these, but you’ll need to be confident with designing multimedia content with similar sort of software.

Create, publish and schedule posts for our social media, where you’ll work with the Senior Communications Manager to engage and grow our audiences. We are currently active on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Bluesky, but we are planning to launch a TikTok account this year. Experience of editing and making video content would be desirable, but we can support you to develop these skills if you are confident with using tools like Canva already.

Work with the Senior Communications Manager and wider team to develop, manage and update content for Settle’s website, keeping it up to date for all our key audiences. This will include supporting with writing blogs, with and on behalf of the organisation. Our website is built on Wagtail CMS – you don’t need to necessarily have used this exact CMS, but experience of updating website content would be desirable.

Role Overview

Reporting into the Head of HR and with a dotted line into the CEO and Director of External Relations, the Internal Communications Manager is responsible for the development, delivery and management of the college’s communication channels, programmes and campaigns to drive employee engagement and improve overall college performance.
The post holder will lead on developing and executing internal communications strategies, with the support of the HR and the External Relations teams, to ensure that staff within the college are motivated, informed, engaged and able to perform their roles effectively.
The post holder will work with leadership teams across the college to create high-quality, engaging content for various communication channels, including newsletters, intranet sites, emails, handbooks, staff training, and employee recognition programmes.
The post holder will work closely with the Head of HR, Director of External Relations, and CEO to understand internal communication needs and ensure that these are aligned with the college’s organisational strategic objectives and support staff retention and recruitment initiatives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
● Create clear, compelling and engaging communications that ensure an effective and timely flow of information between the college’s HR/Executive Leadership Teams and the wider organisation.
● Support the CEO and Executive Leadership Team in building the internal Ada brand to create and maintain a strong internal identity and tone of voice to be used across the college.
● Manage and develop innovative communication channels, both online and offline, with a particular focus on evolving digital platforms in line with industry best practice.
● Act as Project Lead on the transition away from the college’s primary employee communication channel (Workplace), identifying alternative options and managing the implementation of the chosen suitable alternative.
● Act as Project Lead on the various college intranet and internal HR microsite projects.
● Lead on the development and introduction of an Ada termly staff newsletter.
● Support the college with the development and facilitation of engaging employee training across all teams.
● Support the Head of HR and the Director of External Relations with developing and delivering employee engagement and communication plans in response to college needs.
● Support the HR resources team with administrative duties during times of absence and annual leave.
● Be responsible for ensuring cross-organisational collaboration channels are effective with regard to event planning, implementation of new systems, and adherence to organisational processes and planning systems.
● Lead on the implementation and improvement of the staff induction process alongside Senior HR Officer.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
● The postholder will possess highly effective and engaging communication skills. They should excel in written, verbal and presentation skills. Previous experience of working with digital channel communication tools is essential.
● The postholder will have a proven track record of working on internal communication campaigns , creating and deploying employee communication and engagement channels. They will be familiar with utilising the full range of media ( digital/social/face-to-face), with measurable impact and return on investment.
● Experience of creating and delivering creative and tailored communication solutions and campaigns to drive employee engagement.
● Experience of delivering training sessions

Purpose of Post
The Membership and Events Lead will play a pivotal role in our membership programme and the events calendar that supports our membership offering. Key Responsibilities
Events
· In collaboration with the Membership and Events Manager and the wider team, work towards the successful delivery of a calendar of events, taking ownership and accountability of any assigned events.
· Help to develop the sponsorship pipeline for key events in collaboration with other key members of the Income Generation team to ensure all opportunities for sponsorship are maximised.
· Conduct research and planning for UK events, covering areas such as venues, suppliers, routes and risk assessments.

We are seeking an experienced evidence (systematic) reviewer to support the development of clinical guidelines, guidance statements, national audit and new product reviews, as well as supporting the wider membership and Faculty officers in responding to evidence and research enquiries. Part of the role will be to help establish the technical team and providing advice on appropriate methods and processes for the programme of work.
As part of the CEU team the postholder will work closely with the Clinical Director for the CEU, CEU team, clinical fellows, FSRH Clinical Quality Committees and senior faculty officers as well as national and international clinical experts involved in the field of sexual and reproductive healthcare. Key duties will include identifying and appraising relevant evidence using established systematic review methods and developing structured evidence summaries across a range of products. The postholder will also support the development of methods and new ways of working in conjunction with other members of the team.

The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) is the leader in the field of sexual and reproductive healthcare, and we are the voice for professionals working in this area. As a multi-disciplinary professional membership organisation, we set clinical guidance and standards, provide training and lifelong education, and champion safe and effective sexual and reproductive healthcare across the life course for all.
The Clinical Effectiveness Unit (CEU) at the FSRH develops a range of evidenced-based clinical guidance documents including clinical guidelines, statements and new product reviews as well as associated activities such as national benchmarking audits and responding to member evidence enquiries. The CEU is part of the wider Clinical Quality programme overseen by the Director for Clinical Quality who manages this role.
The role:
1. Analytical and technical:
• Responsible for developing a range of literature reviews (scoping, umbrella, and systematic reviews) for clinical guidelines and guidance in accordance with FSRH processes and established evidence synthesis methodologies. This includes:
- Contributing to the development of scopes,
- Developing review questions and protocols,
- Systematic searching and identification of relevant evidence,
- Full quality assessment of evidence including application of GRADE framework
- Synthesising, collating and summarising quantitative and qualitative evidence
- Summarising and presenting evidence to guideline committees (GDG)
- Preparing written summaries of the evidence / GDG discussions as part of the guideline, guidance statements, evidence enquiries or new product reviews
- Collaborating closely with the Clinical Director, Clinical Fellows and GDG to write the guideline and guidance in line with FSRH approach
- Preparing technical responses to comments received during consultation or peer review of guidelines and guidance
- Contributing to webinars, blogs, articles and publications relating to guidelines and guidance products
- Contribute to audit and national benchmarking activities
- Responding to FSRH Officer, member or internal evidence enquiries including in relation to new research or products
- Contribute to surveillance process of new evidence relevant to the update of guidelines or guidance
2. Supporting methodological developments
- Contributing to the technical review of methods and the continuous improvement of methodological practices, proposing changes to processes and methodology as appropriate
- Keeping up to date on the latest developments in evidence-based practice methods
- Contribute to identifying new ways to deliver member evidence review services
3. Planning and project management:
- Working with the team, in particular the project co-ordinator, to help plan the work of the CEU and the delivery of guidelines, guidance and associated activities
- Monitor and control guideline development progress, ensuring adherence to project plans
- Contribute to identifying and mitigating risks and issues in relation to the development of guidelines, guidance and associated products
- Co-ordinate and lead guideline development project meetings, ensuring effective communication among team members
4. Communication:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and engagement with a range of internal and external staff, including senior FSRH staff and officers, clinical experts, academics and patient organisations.
- Presenting complex information to multidisciplinary and lay groups such as guideline development groups or FSRH clinical committees
- Contributing to publications and articles on FSRH guidelines and guidance
- Responding to member, press or officer enquiries regarding FSRH outputs and relevant evidence
5. Other:
- Organising and planning personal workload covering multiple projects
- Undertaking continuing professional and personal development to meet demands of the role including keeping up to date on evidence-based practice methods
- Providing training and induction to guideline development group members and FSRH staff and Officers as appropriate
- Undertaking any other duties commensurate with the role including cover for other members of the CEU team, project work or new activities
You will have:
- A Master’s degree level or a higher postgraduate qualification in a related area (for e.g. Public health, life sciences, epidemiology or medical statistics), or medical degree with experience in health services research, or equivalent level of experience gained in a relevant role
- Specialist knowledge of literature review methodology (incl. systematic review)
- An understanding of guideline development and assessment methodology
- An understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare, critical appraisal and the interpretation and synthesis of clinical research
- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills
- An understanding of sexual and reproductive healthcare (Desirable)
You will be:
- Able to work independently to tight deadlines including prioritising work
- Able to gather data, analyse, critique and synthesis complex information and prepare reports and briefing documents
- Able to establish effective working relationships with a range of professionals
- Able to explain basic statistical concepts, methods and results to clinicians, academics and lay people
- Self-motivated and with the ability to work in a team
- IT literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, reference manager, relevant reviewing and/or statistical software)
- Able to perform GRADE and meta-analysis (Desirable)
You will have experience:
- Conducting literature reviews from inception to write-up
- Working in systematic reviewing methodology including undertaking quantitative and qualitative methodologies either in an academic, clinical or healthcare research environment
- Performing systematic searches in Cochrane Library, PubMed and Ovid (Medline, Embase)
- Familiarity with study design, health care methodology, conduct and reporting
- Preparing summaries of research findings
- Presenting complex information to multidisciplinary groups
- Developing personal networks within the field of evidence synthesis
