Key duties include:
- Lead on the strategic development of the Legacy and In Memory programme, considering audiences, products and channels. This includes managing a team of 2 direct reports, as well as the Legacy and In Memory budget.
- Present business cases for the development of the strategic programme and activity based on testing and innovation of audiences, products and channels.
- Collaborate with other Heads of across the Fundraising Directorate to ensure consistent communication to supporters.
- Drive the development of the corporate fundraising programme, working with Global Programmes colleagues and partners based in the countries where the charity operates in.
- Provide supportive and dynamic line management for two direct reports
- Work closely with Data and Insight teams to ensure effective and accurate reporting and that insight drives future activity.

- Experience in strategic management of a multi-channel Legacy programme, including reporting and insight.
- Experience of delivering creative and innovative acquisition fundraising plans, including supporter journeys across both on and offline channels.
- Experience of managing budgets and plans, monitoring, reporting and reforecasting.
- Ability to motivate and inspire a team to exceed targets.

Your primary role as a Parliamentary Affairs Officer is to support our work in Parliament and across Whitehall by helping to build and maintain relationships with MPs, Peers, Ministers and Civil Servants. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature, bringing people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. Public support has been at the centre of RSPB’s work since its foundation as a campaigning organisation in 1889. Significant experience in individual supporter fundraising or consumer marketing through direct marketing techniques will be essential.

The Student Voice Facilitator will work within the Student Voice team to develop and deliver innovative representation practices, ensuring our members can exercise their student voice and influence university decision-making. This will be focused on Student Futures, a large-scale transformation portfolio King’s College London is undertaking. Student Futures aims to improve student experiences in key areas across the next three years. These areas include improving core processes and systems for education delivery; ensuring the university is able to provide proactive and personalised support for student wellbeing; and delivering a distinct, valuable extraand co-curricular student experience. At times, the post-holder will also be required to support other King’s Transformation Office programmes, such as Campus Futures, which is overseeing the development of King’s campus spaces and facilities in the next few years. This role is funded for the next three years, the planned timeline of the Student Futures portfolio.
Responsibilities include:
FACILITATING QUALITY REPRESENTATION PRACTICES:
- Facilitate representation practices within Student Futures, both in person and online, in line with KCLSU’s Student Voice Partnership Agreement and Student Voice Design Framework;
- Lead on development of innovative facilitation methods to foster collaborative, productive spaces for student participation that are fit to respond to the issue at hand;
- Create toolkits, guidance, and other training materials to support the facilitation skills development across KCLSU and King’s;
- Develop and deliver training on facilitation skills for KCLSU and King’s colleagues.
SERVICE DEVELOPMENT:
- Work with Student Voice colleagues to expand the capacity and reach of the team across King’s;
- Support the development and delivery of an evaluation process for the facilitation of student voice within projects or service areas, ensuring monitoring requirements are met in order to demonstrate impact and track progress over time;
- Represent KCLSU’s Student Voice team and promote the Student Voice Design Framework to King’s colleagues and other relevant stakeholders;
- Create and deliver training, guidance, and on-going support for Student Officers and other student representatives on facilitation, student voice, and related areas, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.
A successful candidate will have:
KNOWLEDGE:
- Strong knowledge of facilitation approaches and techniques, and their application in various situations
- Understanding of the ways in which social inequalities and lived experiences may impact participation
- (Desired) Awareness of current issues affecting students in the higher education sector
- (Desired) Understanding of representation systems and practices
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of facilitating research participation, service user engagement, public engagement, membership engagement, and/or other forms of feedback and participation exercises
- Experience of working or volunteering in the education, public, and/or voluntary sectors
- Experience of working in successful partnership with a range of stakeholders
- (Desired) Experience of working with young people, students, or similar
- (Desired) Experience/involvement working with a membership organisation as an employee, representative, or trustee

This role is responsible for supporting the growth, planning and delivery of KCLSU campaigning and organising activity ensuring that elected officers, Academic Associations, Networks and students are enabled and empowered to create strategic, member-led campaigns. Support our members to develop, shape and deliver their agenda, providing advice, coaching and guidance on how to develop impactful campaigns and projects. Work as part of the Student Voice Team to embed campaigning and organising across all areas of our work ensuring that students from every segment of the membership are empowered to make change through campaigns. Enable our communities (Academic Associations, Liberation Networks and Student Representatives) to grow and develop into effective representative bodies.
Responsibilities include:
Growing, planning & delivering KCLSU campaigns
- Provide resources, support and mentoring to student officers and student campaigners, utilising digital and offline organising models of engagement, to support them to develop hard-hitting and effective campaigns.
- Coordinate and work with KCLSU teams to support representatives and members in delivering their campaigns and communicate the impact of campaigning at KCLSU, building interest and recruiting new activists as a result.
- Deliver a range of approaches to student voice engagement, developing diverse methods of participation and innovative practices for facilitating student decision-making, co-creation, and capturing insight.
- Work with external organisations to lead on KCLSU involvement in local, national and NUS campaigns.
- Responsible for measuring and reporting the impact of our campaigns.
Developing Student Representative Communities
- Support Networks, Academic Associations and Campaign groups on-going growth and development, supporting them to build inclusive, active, and intersectional student-led communities.
- Engage with representatives through coaching, building relationships and providing support as they develop and deliver their campaigning and organising agenda.
- Ensure participation in representation is accessible and inclusive, identifying and removing barriers to engagement particularly for low participation groups.
Leadership Development
- Create and deliver training, guidance and ongoing support for Student Officers, Student Representatives and Academic Associations, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.
- Build strong and nurturing relationships with student representatives and Academic Association leaders, coordinating effective engagement and regular contact with our members.
- Empower students – particularly those from low participation groups - to become student leaders and participate in KCLSU Elections.
A successful candidate will have:
Qualifications
- A good standard of education, ideally to graduate level or equivalent. (Desirable)
Experience
- Experience of working in a campaigning organisation or as a campaigner
- Experience of mentoring and coaching staff/elected representatives/volunteers
- Experience of working in successful partnerships with a range of stakeholders
- Experience recruiting and supporting volunteers
- Experience of facilitating and delivering training
- Experience/involvement working with a membership organisation (either as an employee, representative or trustee) (Desirable)
- Experience of working with young people/education or similar (Desirable)
Knowledge
- Knowledge of community-building techniques and how to increase participation
- Knowledge of various campaigning and lobbying techniques
- Knowledge of community organising techniques
- Knowledge of current issues affecting the higher education sector
