Bristol Charities mission is to provide opportunities and support for people and communities to improve lives through grants, housing and charitable projects.

They are at a very exciting time in their development and have created a new role of Director of Fundraising & Communications to help them on their journey. This a new role that will play a crucial part in shaping the future of the charity as well as securing the resources to deliver sustainable growth in the work and impact of the charity.

Going forward their work will be delivered though a distinctive and coherent Community Hub model, which will be holistic, person-centred, integrated, joined-up, and promote a partnership approach.  They also purchased The Vassall Centre in 2021, with long term plans to redevelop the site for community benefit.

In the short term they plan to relaunch the Vassall Centre as a standout, accessible, and affordable workspace venue for charitable organisations.  Their community Hubs will include directly delivered Bristol Charities programmes/projects, services delivered by local partners, and services delivered by their strategic partners. They are also looking to increase the number of housing units they manage, either through development of their existing sites, through acquisition of new sites or through partnership working with other local housing providers, and any new Housing Schemes will incorporate the new Hub model.

Bristol Charities now need to recruit an experienced, passionate, and entrepreneurial fundraising professional; someone who is capable of not only overseeing a small but growing communications function, but who also recognises the importance of aligning fundraising and communications strategies and activity. 

With this role, there will be the opportunity to build a fundraising function from scratch and lead on the fundraising and communications strategy for the charity, at a time of exciting change. The work would go across a range of sectors and will provide an opportunity to impact the city in lasting and tangible ways.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Fundraising will play a key role in the Senior Leadership Team by providing thoughtful and creative leadership and productive working relationships with other Directors, teams, and colleagues, helping to set the direction for the charity and tackling strategic challenges.

For this role, we are seeking:

· Extensive fundraising experience in a compatible context, specifically across key areas of income generation.

· Must be target driven to achieve income objectives set.

· Relevant professional qualifications or qualified through experience (either fundraising or communications).

· Leadership at a senior executive level with experience of managing relationships with key stakeholders, colleagues and Trustees to deliver fundraising and marketing objectives.

This is an exciting new role, and the person will be responsible for creating, developing and implementing fundraising plans to support delivery of all projects and programmes. This involves leading partnerships with funders including proactive approaches to drive further income growth, packaging our programmes and services to attract new funding relationships.

About the role: 

The successful applicant will work alongside our Trustees, our CEO and our existing Head of Fundraising and Communications in a jobshare to meet challenging fundraising targets. You will be joining us at an exciting time of development, as we open at our third site in Islington, welcome new members of staff to our team and begin work on a new strategy for 2025-2028. We have a strong track record of grant fundraising and seek someone who can support us to diversify our income, develop a fundraising strategy with a variety of income streams and bring experience and ideas to raise our profile. You will be part of a small and highly committed fundraising team of three including the existing Head of Fundraising and Communications, our Fundraising Officer and yourself. We are looking to appoint an experienced and collaborative fundraising manager to lead our small fundraising team at Ely Cathedral. This post plays a significant role in sustaining and developing the income the Cathedral needs, adhering to the highest ethical standards and in line with the law and good practice.

Duties include nurturing and managing existing relationships with supporters and donors and developing new income streams using a range of approaches, ensuring that these are integrated sensitively, with the mission and work of the Cathedral in mind.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in fundraising from a variety of sources in a small or medium-sized charity setting, experience of managing others, and have experience of raising funds for capital projects between £100,000 and £2million.

Experience of fundraising within a church setting or the heritage sector, possession of a fundraising qualification from a recognised body such as the Institute of Fundraising, and experience of leading a step-change in the income raised by a fundraising team are not essential but would be an advantage.

Purpose of Role

To support the Head of Fundraising and Head of Trusts to develop and deliver effective income generation and partner relationship management. Income Generation

• Support the senior fundraising team to research and develop potential opportunities for maximising income generation

The Fundraising Operations and Prospect Research Specialist sits within our busy and growing Supporter Experience, Data and Insight Team and reports to the Fundraising Operations Development Manager. Working collaboratively with the other Senior Executives in the team, you will be a key member of our SEDI Management Team delivering on key priorities.

You will be responsible for:
• Supporting the implementation and management of Sue Ryder’s world-class fundraising operations model and working with our internal teams to review and improve key processes and policies which support our fundraising activities.
• Support our High-Value fundraising, both at a National and Community level, by providing prospect research and insight and overseeing all the processes for management of this activity.

Key skills and Knowledge
• An understanding of the role of fundraising operations within a charity environment.
• Be proficient in using relationship management databases and an understanding of data management best practice, preferably some previous experience in using CRMs
• Knowledge of prospect research strategies, specialist tools and techniques within a fundraising context.
• Experience in identifying and qualifying potential new high-value funding prospects, including major donors, corporate partners, trusts and foundations.

Title: Trusts Executive

Salary: £40,000 per year

Location: UK remote - with a commitment to attend important meetings / training sessions in person in Haywards Heath or UK locations, up to 7 times a year. Availability to travel overseas for events/project visits up to one week a year, if required.

Contract: Full-time (35 hours) or Part-time (28 hours) with some flexibility around hours worked.

About the role

The Trusts Executive will be responsible for managing a portfolio of trust donors, focusing on trusts capable of contributing to a high level. The successful candidate will have an active and positive impact to the overall direction of the team and the organisation as a whole.

This exciting role will see the successful candidate managing and cultivating an existing portfolio of committed trust and foundation donors via bespoke proposals and meetings at all levels of seniority, as well as, engaging with exciting new trust prospects in targeted global markets

Responsibilities

Relationship Building:

• Manage and cultivate relationships with a portfolio of trust and foundation donors through bespoke proposals, mailings, reports, and meetings.
• Develop key relationships with CEOs, Directors, and Trustees to achieve planned objectives.
• Take personal responsibility for delivering agreed targets in line with the Trusts team strategy.

New Business Development

• Research, identify, and engage with new trust prospects in global markets.
• Work with Sightsavers’ trustees, CEO, and senior figures to establish high-value funding relationships. 

Cross-Team Working

• Collaborate across the organisation to deliver high-standard project proposals and ensure excellent grant management for existing donors.

Networking and Contribution:

• Actively participate in trust and foundation networks.
• Contribute to the overall direction of the Trusts and Corporate Partnerships Team by sharing information, insights, and fundraising materials.

Essential:

• Excellent written skills for proposals, bids, and reports.
• Experience in fundraising, marketing, or sales.
• Proven success in cultivating and maintaining donor/client relationships.
• Understanding of charity sector and international development issues.
• Strong presentation and writing skills, including project budgets and reports.
• Excellent communication, people, and IT skills (Word and Excel).

With success in cultivating new relationships, as well as managing existing donors / clients, the post holder will also have demonstrative experience of excellent written skills, including proposals / bids and reports for external audiences.Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams to develop proposals / bids and of working in the charity sector, while not essential, is desirable.
