The role:

This role offers the chance to work with a global NGO, providing valuable experience in tackling key global development challenges, along with hands-on involvement with project and partnership management systems, grant tracking processes, and an opportunity to contribute to the development of impactful programmes. It provides exposure to the operations of an International NGO, invested in community-led holistic solutions to some of the most pressing problems of our times. You would enhance your knowledge and experience of the charity sector funding landscape in the UK and internationally. You would significantly expand your practical knowledge of project delivery and monitoring in diverse areas of international development such as water and sanitation, prevention of violence against women, food security and nutrition, rural livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, and community disaster resilience. You would write about our projects for funding applications and project reports, blog posts, newsletters etc. You would have the chance to network with other NGOs and funders at events and international development conferences. You may have the opportunity to travel to south Asia or Africa for project evaluation or conferences / networking, subject to funding. As you gain experience, there may be scope for you to contribute to project design.

You will be working in a friendly, professional environment There may be opportunity to increase hours to full-time subject to funding.

Person specification:

You would  research potential funding partners, write grant applications, and manage successful partnerships, including trusts, foundations, corporate groups, and statutory sources. Some charity-sector fundraising experience is desirable.. The ability to draft inspiring narratives for different audiences, as well as creating programme budgets using spreadsheets are crucial aspects to this role.. You would research and attend relevant events and identify other such opportunities to promote Pragya’s work, to network, and to learn about the latest research and trends in international development. You would contribute to Pragya’s social media posts, campaigns, and the charity’s administrative needs. A basic lf knowledge of video editing and media tools like Canva would be an advantage.

The UK branch of Pragya is a small team; the ideal candidate would be a self-starter, capable of managing their own work load. · A degree qualification with at least 2:1 or equivalent

Role purpose

The Policy Officer will play a key role in using health insights to shape our policy positions and make a meaningful difference to the lives of people affected by meningitis. This position involves a combination of research, analysis, strategic foresight, and policy development to enable evidence-based decision making.

Responsibilities

Strategic Foresight & Horizon Scanning

• Monitor UK and global meningitis policy and provide analysis to identify trends and priorities.
• Help maintain the policy foresight dashboard, organize quarterly scanning sessions, and present findings to senior leadership and trustees

Policy Analysis & Development

• Analyse UK meningitis policies, focusing on immunization and support for affected individuals.
• Track UK immunization developments, vaccine policies, and public health initiatives related to meningitis prevention.
• Provide global meningitis policy analysis, including WHO’s Global Roadmap to Defeat Meningitis and brain health initiatives.
• Draft briefings, position papers, and reports on key meningitis-related topics for internal and external use.
• Support responses to health-related consultations in the UK and globally.

Collaboration & Engagement

• Build relationships with UK policy stakeholders, including government bodies, NHS England, and advocacy groups.
• Work with Advocacy, CoMO, and Support teams to ensure the insights reflect the experiences of those affected by meningitis
• Collaborate with Research colleagues to align research findings with policy development.
• Partner with the Communications team to share policy positions externally.
• Represent MRF at events, conferences, and network meetings.

Policy Strategy & Operational Plans

• Assist in delivering operational objectives for Health Insights & Policy.
• Support other international and national policy activities as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience in health policy in the UK and internationally, especially infectious diseases.
• Conducted policy research, written reports and briefs, and evaluated their impact.
• Understanding of UK government, healthcare system, health policy landscape, and parliamentary processes.
• Experience in international development or global health is desirable.
• Able to build strong relationships quickly.
• Can translate complex arguments for varied audiences.
• Experience presenting to stakeholders in various forums.
• Strong analytical, writing, and proofreading skills.
• Proficiency in a second European language, ideally French or Spanish.

What we offer you

• £31,500 to £34,999 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

We work within a coordinated partnership response to violence against women and girls as part of the Angelou Partnership. Within the partnership ADVANCE provides independent domestic abuse advocacy and support for women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.

 The IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process specialising in working with clients at high risk. They will work within the team to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women from aged 13, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. They will advise women on criminal justice and civil remedies and related matters, support women to attend court where necessary, and coordinate the provision of multi-agency support. Part of the role will to be to establish positive, proactive, and innovative working relationships with services providing services to clients and partner agencies within the Angelou Partnership. As a Core IDVA will work across the boroughs mentioned above, under the guidance of the team leaders and project manager.

To be successful as the Core IDVA you will need the below experience and skills: 

To be successful as a Core IDVA, you’ll need to have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse sector. As an experienced domestic abuse advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, you will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic abuse, of supporting women involved in mental health services, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

In collaboration with key colleagues in the Philanthropy Team, the postholder will define an effective prospect research strategy, which they will be responsible for supporting, streamlining and implementing in order to deliver a strong and sustainable prospect pipeline.

The Prospect Research Officer will play a leading role in identifying new sources of philanthropic support from charitable Trusts/Foundations, companies, and individual major donors, to achieve increased income growth in the Philanthropy Team in support of MSF’s strategic priorities.

They will create and implement effective systems, processes and management tools and embed these new ways of working in the Philanthropy Team. They will also be responsible for providing up to date research and due diligence reports on new and existing donors, in line with MSF policies.

About the role:

The Advance Specialist Prison & Probation Advocate will support women within the prison setting, provide pre-release support, focused on Accommodation, Finance, debt & benefits, Family & significant others and Social inclusion including ‘through the gate’ support.

This exciting new role will be based in HMP Bronzefield and will support in developing referral pathways for women and work in partnership with different departments and services within the prison as well as those in the community. You will co-design an action plan with women accessing support, enabling you to support them to address their accommodation, finance, debt and benefits and health needs and any risks in relation to the interventions identified, as they prepare for release. The role will involve a combination of casework-based approach with delivery of programmes and courses, along with a signposting and advice service for the women in custody.

You will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with women in a challenging multi-agency environment, ideally working with prisoners and/or their families.

You will build strong relationships with the Pre Release teams to ensure clients are able to maintain or access suitable accommodation, finance, benefits and debt, family and social inclusion support including negotiating terms on behalf of the women. Ensure that interventions are responsive to and meet the needs of women from diverse and minoritised backgrounds. This, together with referrals to wider partner organisations in the community, will ensure additional support needs are addressed post-release and continuity of support exists.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential

About You:

To be successful as the Advance Specialist Prison & Probation Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

Knowledge and experience of the criminal justice system obtained through academic study, experience of working in the criminal justice system (or closely associated social system).

The ability and experience as a caseworker delivering gender specific and trauma responsive interventions which support resettlement and rehabilitation of female adults in the criminal justice system whether in the community or in prisons.

You will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in a prison environment whilst remaining calm.

Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of managing a caseload including maintaining and updating records, remaining focused on action plan goals, and keeping to deadlines

You will have the ability to complete trauma informed, support and action plans in collaboration with the woman; to support in addressing their multiple and individual needs and enable them to engage with services, which will result in timely and prescribed outcomes being achieved.
