Rainforest Foundation UK strives for a fairer and more sustainable world by working with Indigenous Peoples and other communities of the world’s rainforests. We’re seeking a Project Finance and Administrator to join our growing team working at the forefront of the fight against tropical deforestation, climate change and social injustice. Hardworking and with an attention to detail, you will work closely with project coordinators and local partner organisations in the Democratic Republic of Congo to deliver exciting new projects expanding community land rights, sustainable livelihoods and forest protection initiatives.  

About you

The ideal candidate should have demonstrable experience of providing financial and administrative support to projects within charity or international development settings. Proficiency in both English and French is essential, alongside experience a personal commitment to defending human rights. Additionally, you should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work under pressure in complex environments, including up to 12 weeks of travel per year to remote forest areas.

Fundraising is still a relatively new activity for DFN Project SEARCH and this role presents the opportunity to play a key part in its expansion to support the further growth of the charity and enable young adults with a learning disability to lead healthier, happier, and more independent lives.   

This role will support the Director of Development in implementing DFN Project SEARCH’s fundraising strategy. To date the strategy has focused on securing a small number of larger gifts from philanthropic sources, such as trusts and foundations. We are now evolving the strategy to include growing income from high-net-worth individuals, companies, and individual giving.

This role will lead on the development and implementation of the strategy to secure income from high-net-worth individuals (between five and potentially seven figures) and will also work with the Director of Development and the Development Officer on securing income from, and stewarding, trusts, foundations, and statutory funders. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team there is also the opportunity to input to the wider strategy and development of the charity and support the Director of Development in their role as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

The team is currently made up of the Director of Development, Corporate Partnership Manager (reporting to the Director of Development), and the Development Officer (reporting to this new role).

Post summary

This is an exciting position for an exceptional person with fundraising, campaigning, policy, communications and management/leadership experience to temporarily direct one of the UK’s leading human rights NGOs. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to oversee high-impact civil liberties campaigns to achieve real change and manage a high-performing multi-disciplinary team to further privacy, free expression and data protection rights in the United Kingdom. Importantly, you’ll be an experienced fundraiser, responsible for leading our grants and major giving to maintain Big Brother Watch’s income growth, and have experience with financial reporting.

You’ll have a diverse skill-set enabling you to line manage our Advocacy Manager, Digital Communications Manager and Head of Research and Investigations. An ideal candidate will also be responsible for leading the development of policy positions on new and emerging issues alongside our talented team.

You may also share spokesperson responsibilities, taking up our role as a recognised voice on civil liberties matters in the national media, though this is not essential.

The start and end of the position will include comprehensive handover periods with the current Director, and may include a period of co-working full time with the current Director.

About you

We’re looking for highly experienced professional with a track record of NGO fundraising and management with a demonstrable passion for protecting civil liberties, especially privacy and freedom of expression. Ideally, you’ll have a high level of experience of or interest in working on new and emerging technologies.

Importantly, you’ll have excellent political judgement. You’ll have strong knowledge of British politics, a strong network of relevant contacts and significant experience both fundraising and advocating for change.

You’ll have an entrepreneurial approach, always identifying opportunities to boost Big Brother Watch’s campaigns, resources and reputation. The ideal candidate will appreciate the importance of winning in the court of public opinion in order to win in parliament, and have the skills to do both.

You’ll be a brilliant communicator internally and externally, able to simplify complex technology issues and convey powerful messages whether in campaign slogans or in interviews as a Big Brother Watch spokesperson.

Fundraising

• Seeking fundraising opportunities and writing fundraising applications

• Reporting to funders, including trusts/grants and individual donors

Carers UK is looking for maternity leave cover for our Head of Policy and Public Affairs to lead the team for 10-12 months. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at a critical time to influence policy and practice to bring about lasting change for unpaid carers.

The pandemic has really shone a light on what Britain’s unpaid carers do. The last few years have been fast paced, offering fresh opportunities for carers’ support as well as new challenges that make life more difficult for carers and which need to be overcome. 

The role would involve leading and managing the Policy and Public Affairs team and influencing political and policy-making processes, delivering effective campaigns, leading key research with and about carers and engaging carers in our work to ensure that they are at the heart of what we do.

You will be an experienced policy, campaigns and public affairs professional with a  passion for change and social justice. You will have great working knowledge of the policy and legislative landscape and be able to demonstrate changes that your work has delivered. You will have experience of delivering research which helps to bring about change. Self-motivation, with sound experience of planning, but an ability to respond quickly to a changing external environment, will be at the heart of your approach.

You’ll have a strong sense of purpose to bring about change that improves carers’ lives, and will be results driven. Collaboration internally and externally will be important to you and you will have good experience of employee management, leading a team and budget management. 

About the role

This role is responsible for work at the heart of the organisation focussing on the equality, support and recognition of unpaid carers in society. Leading areas of work, devising campaigns, building policy and finding good practice is at the centre of the role, ensuring that we maintain our strong profile in Parliament and with Government.  Over the 10 - 12 months you would be working on our major 60th anniversary programme, Carers Week, health and social care policy, key research and campaigns over that time period.

This role is responsible for maintaining our great reputation for our strong evidence-based research programme including delivering our renowned State of Caring survey, the first of its kind nationally and globally and which now has over 10 years of data. 

Having a good eye for media and what is necessary to support our work is essential as is a strong close working relationship with the communications team.

This role is also responsible for carer engagement in our policy and public affairs work, whether it’s carers meeting Ministers, helping shape policy or practice, testing our research or helping tell their stories to increase understanding.

Our exciting new Events and Office Coordinator role will support the delivery of The Royal Countryside Fund's (RCF) busy events programme.  Our events drive awareness of the issues facing the countryside through supporting family farms and rural communities, ensuring we reach a diverse audience to raise awareness of the charity and encourage support of the RCF's work

Under the direction of the Interim Head of Communications, and with support of the wider staff team, you will be responsible for coordinating and running all the charity’s events, including full administrative support, booking venues, the invitation process and guest lists, organisation of collateral (including marketing and promotional information), catering arrangements and researching and inviting speakers. You will also be ensuring effective follow-up to each event such as wider dissemination of event content, evaluation, and reporting. 

Working on events will account for approximately half of the role. Your remaining time will be spent working across the charity undertaking a variety of administrative tasks. This will include supporting the team with mailings, coordination of specific activities and some general office management. Whilst reporting to the Interim Head of Communications, you will work closely with several team members, particularly the Executive Assistant, providing a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of different aspects of the charity’s work. 

This role is a development role and wide-ranging events and office experience is not expected. However, you should have a confident attitude supported by good written and verbal communication skills and be effective in the use of Microsoft packages. The Food Chain exists to ensure people living with HIV in London can access the nutrition they need to get well, stay well and lead healthy, independent lives. We deliver meals, groceries and formula milk, run cookery and nutrition classes, and hold twice-weekly communal meals for some of the most vulnerable and isolated people living with HIV in London. 

We are the only HIV Nutrition specialist charity in the UK: we exist at the intersection between HIV, food poverty and social isolation. Everyone accessing our services is referred by a health or social care professional who has identified that they are experiencing crisis. Each person receives a personalised Dietetic Assessment from one of our HIV Specialist Dietitians, designed specifically to meet their needs. By offering a tailored package of support, at the appropriate time, we help people to lead healthy, independent lives.

The Grants and Fundraising Manager will work closely with the CEO in order to ensure that income is secured to enable the delivery and sustainability of our services and activities. The Director of Fundraising be responsible for developing and implementing a fundraising strategy. This will include the day-to-day management of the existing fundraising team and championing fundraising at senior management level and with the Board.

The HR and Team Coordinator will help ensure that Purposeful Ventures runs smoothly and efficiently.

You’ll work most closely with the Head of People, helping her to keep all of our HR administration in good shape and making sure that current and prospective staff are informed of and supported through HR matters across the employee lifecycle. You will also work closely with the COO and wider operations team to support the overall smooth running of Purposeful Ventures, from making sure we have a pleasant and productive physical office space to helping to maintain our digital files and CRM, to minuting meetings and supporting with finance administration.

This role would suit someone keen to develop their functional expertise in HR and gain exposure to the breadth of operational functions. 

The HR and Team Coordinator will be organised and will have fantastic attention to detail, a strong can-do attitude and a willingness to proactively contribute to the team in multiple different ways. You’ll enjoy working flexibly and collaboratively and forming strong relationships within Purposeful Ventures and beyond.

Responsibilities and duties

Provide effective and efficient HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle for both Purposeful Ventures and its incubated ventures and funds, including: 

• being the first point of contact for the HR mailbox;
• managing employee onboarding and offboarding processes;
• coordinating all HR admin processes; 
• upkeep of the HR Information System, CharlieHR; and
• administration of all recruitment procedures from job application to appointment, using Team Tailor. 

Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Purposeful Ventures Team, by providing team coordination and administrative support, including: 

• being the first point of contact for general enquiries; 
• managing the team calendar; 
• supporting the external IT services contractor;
• providing research and administrative support to the COO;
• ensuring the efficient management of CRM information, team and project documents and templates; and
• minuting incubated ventures’ project board meetings as needed.

Ensure that the Purposeful Ventures team has a pleasant and productive working environment by:

• supporting the operations team to make the Purposeful Ventures office a pleasant, productive, inspiring environment for staff and contractors to work and collaborate;
• keeping the Purposeful Ventures office well stocked with agreed supplies;
• managing the day-to-day coordination of the office and office visitors; and
• monitoring office IT equipment, ensuring items are working well and repaired swiftly and that staff have access to the facilities they need.

Contribute to the smooth running of our finance processes, providing support to finance staff including mailbox monitoring and expenses submissions. 
 

Key requirements

This role will suit someone who enjoys administration and making things work well for staff and clients, and delivering efficient customer service both internally and externally.

We are particularly interested in candidates with prior experience of HR administration.

About the role

The purpose of the direct marketing executive role is to support the charity’s prize-led fundraising activity, which currently consists of two products – the Breast Cancer Now raffle and the Pink Ribbon lottery. Working closely with the direct marketing officers, you will assist in delivering a wide-range of campaigns across multiple channels (direct mail, email, telemarketing, digital and face-to-face marketing), which recruit and retain supporters to these products. And, you’ll provide vital administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the team and the lottery. 

The workload is varied and an average day might consist of proof-reading campaign materials, processing invoices, recording campaign results, helping to brainstorm ideas for an upcoming campaign, briefing internal teams, calling a lottery winner, helping to resolve queries, shadowing our face-to-face fundraisers, or writing copy for an email campaign.

About you 

You might be looking for your first role in a fundraising, or direct marketing. Experience in these specific areas is not essential, as long as you can clearly demonstrate the skills required for the role, and the desire to work in the sector. You have excellent communication skills; you’d be at ease liaising with external suppliers, briefing internal teams, and could turn your hand to writing compelling copy for our direct marketing activity. You’d enjoy a role with a variety of responsibilities, including some administrative support but also having creative input into direct marketing activity. You can use your excellent time-management and organisational skills to complete a varied work-load, always working to agreed targets and deadlines. You’re a team player, with a positive attitude, looking to be part of a friendly and high performing team, where you can see the results of your work. You’re competent with windows-based software, particularly Excel. You can follow processes, are quick and eager to learn new tasks, able to work accurately and pay close attention to detail.
