About the role

Sightsavers’ work in the field of education is driven by the principle of inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. We are looking for a Global Technical Lead – Inclusive Education to provide technical leadership and expertise in inclusive education to guide the development and delivery of specific initiatives and programmes.

As the Global Technical Lead for Inclusive Education, you will support Sightsavers to promote inclusive education for children, youth, and adults with disabilities in education systems in West Africa, East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA), and South Asia. Working across multiple countries, you will ensure that disability inclusion is at the centre of conceptualisation, design and implementation of Sightsavers’ projects.

Strong communication skills in English and French are essential for this role, as is the availability to travel 12-16 weeks a year, nationally and internationally.

Principal accountabilities will include:

• To provide technical leadership and expertise in inclusive education at the programmatic level
• To strengthen the global programme portfolio in inclusive education through leading strategic and technical inputs in proposal development for funding opportunities.
• To pioneer new strategic initiatives and innovative approaches in inclusive education to improve and enhance the quality of Sightsavers’ work, especially in cross-cutting priority areas like climate action, gender equity and the use of data and evidence.
• To contribute to the research, innovation, policy, advocacy and communications agendas through close collaboration with interdepartmental teams and key external stakeholders.
• To undertake senior level representation of Sightsavers as an expert in inclusive education at national, regional and international professional and sector-specific networks, platforms, conferences and meeting

This is an ideal opportunity to build on your existing expertise in leading and developing programmes in inclusive education in lower income countries. We are looking for a skilled communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships across different departments and work collaboratively as a member of our cross-functional teams.  To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A Postgraduate qualification (minimum Master’s) or equivalent experience in a relevant field, e.g. education, special needs education; disability, international development
• Business to fluent French language skills
• A proven record of leading, developing and implementing programmes in inclusive education in lower income countries.
• Experience of working with national governments and international institutions such as Global Partnership for Education, UN agencies, bilateral agencies as well as non-state actors to contribute to education system transformation.
• Knowledge of current developments, issues and best practice in inclusive education to effectively address the barriers to education for children with disabilities
• Able to travel for up to 12-16 weeks a year (regional and international).

Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT) is a youth development outdoor learning charity which has been improving the skills and life chances of disadvantaged young people since 1956.

We envision a world where all young people strive to create better outcomes for themselves and for their communities. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Trusts & Grants fundraiser to join our small, hardworking team.

The role holder will contribute towards achieving our ambitious yearly income target by helping to maintain our well-established Trusts & Grants portfolio, as well as identifying new funding opportunities as we seek to grow and diversify this income stream.

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. akt works with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online assistance.

Job Summary 

This is a 14-21 hours per week part time temporary 6 month contract. The pro rata salary for hours worked is between £12,658 - £18,987 per year (£31,645 full time equivalent). 

There is one role that can be done from any of akt's offices in Manchester, London, Newcastle or Bristol. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-organised and professional individual to join our team to support our work with young LGBTQ+ people facing homelessness. The role primarily involves quantitative data collection, analysis and reporting to inform akt’s strategic direction and demonstrate our impact externally.

You will need excellent analysis and communications skills, be highly organised and have the ability to present data in a format that is understandable, clear and can be utilised in a range of areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct quantitative analysis of Services data, generating key insights to inform strategic direction and demonstrate akt’s impact.
• Produce regular internal reports for Services management on progress towards key performance indicators.
• Lead on presenting data to various audiences, including Services staff, senior management, Trustees, and funders.
• Build reports and dashboards on our CRM, In-Form (SalesForce), to support with data analysis and monitoring, and help Services staff to manage their caseload and performance.
• Coordinate and take the lead on specific projects relating to data collection, reporting, and/or impact monitoring including some cross-departmental projects.
• Continue driving a culture of data-informed decision-making and learning at akt, helping all colleagues to value Services data and to collect reliable and useful data about the work we do.
• Proactively improve data collection and reporting methods, considering creative and alternative methods informed by the young people we work with.
• Provide Fundraising and Marketing/Communication teams with Services data for external use, such as funding returns and applications, and fundraising appeals.
• Work autonomously and manage own workload, particularly around key reporting milestones: each financial quarter, and at the beginning of each financial year.
• Support other departments with internal and external research projects and requests for Services data, as commensurate with the role.

 As we help record numbers of people, the successful candidate will be required to:

Deal with applicant enquiries

• Ensure a pleasant, helpful and empathetic welcome to applicants who contact the Charity by email, web form, grant application or telephone.
• Provide guidance to applicants in relation to the Charity’s grants criteria, services and process, ensuring they understand how to apply and that their request fits within our criteria.
• ​Identify any potential safeguarding concerns at an early stage, escalating appropriately 

Process applications and referrals to services in a timely manner

• Verify that applicants are eligible beneficiaries and meet the Charity’s criteria.
• Prioritise any applications with particularly urgent requests 
• Check that each application is complete and follow up with applicants as required to ensure all information and supporting documents have been submitted.

Provide guidance and information to applicants

• Provide clear guidance to applicants throughout the application process.
• Inform applicants of other potential sources of help and support
• Respond to applicant queries quickly and accurately throughout the application process.

Recommend appropriate grant decisions

• Prepare objective, non-judgemental reports for each case, with appropriate, clear recommendations in line with the grants policy. 
• Consider if cases should be referred to Senior Management or Trustees, in line with the existing Grant Making Policy.

To be considered for this position with great scope for growth and development potential, applicants should demonstrate:

• Previous experience within a grant-making role or proven knowledge of the grant-making / benevolent sector.
• Proven experience of providing help and guidance, predominately over the phone and via email, offering support to applicants throughout the grant making process, and other sources of potential help.
• Previous experience of using databases / CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce).
• Ability to interpret grant criteria effectively and make clear decisions.

1. Fundraising Strategy Development:

• Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve organisational fundraising goals.

• Optimise the new supporter journey and create promotional materials in line with current brand guidelines.

• Identify, actively seek, and manage media opportunities, including TV, radio, and social media partnerships.

• Secure support from UK/ Sri Lankan  businesses and establish official partnerships where possible.

4. Fundraising Management:

• Manage fundraising events, including securing sponsorship and maintaining strong relationships with venues and their staff.

• Support WECare fundraisers with all needs associated with their efforts.

• Develop grant applications and supporting documentation.

• Manage the production of fundraising materials and advertisements.

• Oversee the development of merchandise ranges and play a key role in the sales process.

Volunteer Coordinator

Our Vision is for a Wales where everybody’s right to good health and wellbeing is respected and fulfilled, with everyone able to access the healthcare they need, when they need it, and without barriers.

The role of Volunteer Coordinator is a new one for FTWW. Our successful candidate will ensure members are supported and equipped to participate in engagement activities which broaden the reach of the organisation and increase awareness of the wider community’s health and wellbeing needs. You will be key to our small, dedicated team, making sure FTWW is well set-up to maintain and grow its volunteering activity.

The Minerva London service provides holistic, trauma-informed support for women in touch with the Criminal Justice System. We do this through offering dedicated one to one support, safer women’s centre spaces and specialist interventions and partnerships.

You will be working in a supportive, friendly, and welcoming team whilst having oversight of a caseload of women, who may be under the supervision of the National Probation Service or in custody, enhancing the offer of holistic support and advocacy services available to them throughout their journey.

Building relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in local communities is vital to build referral pathways and provide a whole system approach to supporting individuals.

To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s North London vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions.

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. akt works with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online assistance.

Job Summary 

This is a 14-21 hours per week part time temporary 6 month contract. The pro rata salary for hours worked is between £12,658 - £18,987 per year (£31,645 full time equivalent). 

There is one role that can be done from any of akt's offices in Manchester, London, Newcastle or Bristol. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-organised and professional individual to join our team to support our work with young LGBTQ+ people facing homelessness. The role primarily involves quantitative data collection, analysis and reporting to inform akt’s strategic direction and demonstrate our impact externally.

You will need excellent analysis and communications skills, be highly organised and have the ability to present data in a format that is understandable, clear and can be utilised in a range of areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct quantitative analysis of Services data, generating key insights to inform strategic direction and demonstrate akt’s impact.
• Produce regular internal reports for Services management on progress towards key performance indicators.
• Lead on presenting data to various audiences, including Services staff, senior management, Trustees, and funders.
• Build reports and dashboards on our CRM, In-Form (SalesForce), to support with data analysis and monitoring, and help Services staff to manage their caseload and performance.
• Coordinate and take the lead on specific projects relating to data collection, reporting, and/or impact monitoring including some cross-departmental projects.
• Continue driving a culture of data-informed decision-making and learning at akt, helping all colleagues to value Services data and to collect reliable and useful data about the work we do.

Hours:

• Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for all affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide a professional counselling service and other therapies for those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support to individuals who witness the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support and training to professionals from any sector who may be affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• To advocate and campaign on behalf of suddenly bereaved families

2wish Cymru and 2wish:

2wish has been established since 2012 and has grown from strength to strength. During this time, we have worked tirelessly to embed our service and ensure that the offer of support is made at the point of death.

We offer an immediate, consistent, high-quality and compassionate service to all individuals affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under in Wales. We work in partnership with professionals who refer into the charity on behalf of the families, so they don't have to trawl through the internet for an organisation who may, or may not, be able to support. We provide immediate, and ongoing, support and are here for as long as our families need us.

However, we know that gaps in support for those suddenly bereaved still exist outside of Wales. And so we are expanding into England and are on the lookout for passionate and committed individuals who want to help push the charity to the next level.

Context of role:

2wish support anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We provide immediate, and longer-term support to families, individuals, professionals and witnesses. Since we were established in 2012, we have grown to deliver our service across the whole of Wales.

In January 2024, we expanded the geographical area and recruited a brand-new team to deliver the service in the border counties of England and Wales, namely Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. This will be the first of several phases of expansion and the aim is to deliver our service throughout England and Wales in the coming years.

The post holder will lead an effective and cohesive management team across England and Wales overseeing the development and delivery of specialist services for individuals affected by sudden and unexpected death in children and young people aged 25 and under. They will ensure the team provide the highest standards of support, and that services are shaped by the needs of those who access them.

The key objectives of the post are:

• To lead upon delivery of support services across England and Wales, ensuring services are delivered consistently to a high quality and are embedded across a growing geographical area. To embed a growing team and develop relevant strategic priorities.
• To motivate, lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic services to families, friends, professionals, witnesses and individuals affected by sudden death.
• To establish pan-phase partnerships with key stakeholders to embed and develop referral pathways and raise awareness of the charity and its services.
• To work closely with the CEO, Director of Operations, Director of Transformation and Strategy and the wider Leadership Team promoting effective cross-team working that contributes to the overall objectives of 2wish and 2wish Cymru.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

1.0. Support services:

• To oversee outstanding service delivery across England and Wales that responds flexibly to emerging need in line with the business plan, key deliverables, budget and policies and procedures
• To leading on effective delivery and scaling up of services throughout the expansion phases
• To work closely with the Director of Transformation and Strategy to ensure a consistent approach to service delivery that aims to embed the service within existing child death procedures
• To oversee and monitor financial performance, ensuring effective deployment of resources and compliance against agreed targets/budgets
• To be responsible for Safeguarding and work with designated Safeguarding Officers to ensure services are safe for supported persons, staff, counsellors and therapists, volunteers, external partners and other key stakeholders
• To carry out regular risk assessments for services. Ensuring safeguarding concerns are followed up systematically, including making referrals to statutory services
• To oversee high-quality assurance of the service through monitoring of quality assurance systems, audits, management of complaints and learning from disruption
• To work with managers and Senior Leaders in the development and definition of new services, ensuring that operational procedures which support service delivery are fit for purpose
• To taking a hands-on approach to dealing with complex or difficult cases, particularly in new areas as we expand
• To oversee and further develop monitoring and evaluation processes to clearly demonstrate the impact the service has on individuals supported
• To contribute towards applications and reports for funders/ grants etc. in line with milestones /objectives and funding agreements
• To attend formal and informal meetings with the 2wish Senior Management Team and as required with the Trustee Board to review and report on progress

2.0. Leadership:

• To provide clear and visible leadership for a growing support team, with a specific focus upon leading and developing the support managers, taking overall responsibility and accountability for their management, performance, quality of their outputs, including recruitment/retention, induction, training and development, performance management and succession planning
• To lead and motivate staff in the performance of their duties in a way which encourages loyalty, dedication and high professional standards, in line with 2wish Cymru and 2wish ethos, values and determined by the Leadership team and Trustee Board in our strategic plan
• To further develop a positive approach to change and growth in line with expansion plans and the subsequent changes to staffing and areas of service delivery
• To establish and maintain effective working relationships on a local and national with referral partners and key stakeholders including police, health and professionals involved in child death procedures
• To oversee the development of training packages to encourage education and awareness around the experiences of those affected by sudden death
• To work closely with the CEO and Leadership team to support the work of 2wish nationally
• To ensure that the voices and needs of those affected by sudden death in children and young people are at the centre of decision making in Wales and England
• To work to the policies and procedures of the organisation, to promote these with staff and to ensure that they are maintained and developed appropriately. Keeping up to date with regulation, guidance, standards, government policy and research relating to sudden child death

3.0. General:
