Temwa is seeking a dynamic Fundraising & Development Manager to lead and expand our charity's fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will be experienced, confident, and honest, with a deep passion for international development.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Overseeing the fundraising team, including the Programme & Trust Officer who supports grant applications and reporting, and the Fundraising & Events Coordinator who supports individual giving, events, and trading.
- Managing the Communications Officer to provide information for PR, marketing, and promotion of fundraising activities, as well as to highlight Temwa’s work in Malawi.
- Growing and developing the current fundraising programme, with a focus on individual giving, institutional funding, as well as trust & foundations.
- Leading the expansion of corporate fundraising, particularly through the Carbon Balance Programme.
- Managing the daily operations of the UK fundraising office.
- Creating and updating the fundraising strategy, including planning and forecasting fundraising activities.

We have a highly skilled team of 30 full-time employees in Malawi implementing this work, based out of two offices in the Northern Region. Our UK office in Bristol comprises a small fundraising and operations team of seven staff (two team members are full-time, all other team members are part-time), 3-5 regular volunteers and interns, and a wider family of volunteers and supporters.
Temwa UK has an experienced and high functioning board of Trustees who are very engaged. The board member who oversees the fundraising portfolio is very active, providing support to the Fundraising & Development Manager and the fundraising team as a whole.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Managing the fundraising strategy and donor relations with oversight of the fundraising office
- Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the charity’s income generation strategy, ensuring targets are achieved.
- Align the fundraising strategy with the communications and marketing strategy.
- Act as the organizational expert on income generation, leading the team to expand all relevant fundraising streams.
- Maintain and enhance current income streams, including trust fundraising, corporate fundraising, high value donors, and individual giving.
- Maintain relationships with key donors and their specific requirements.
- Collaborate with the Programme Advisor and Programmes Director in Malawi to align community needs with donor priorities.
- Lead, research & review the opportunities to apply for institutional funding with the Programme Advisor.
- Manage donor relations and communication with the Managing Director, Programme Advisor, and UK fundraising team.
- Contribute to donor reporting and distribution donor reports, and ensure compliance to donor-relevant obligations with the Programme Advisor.
- The Fundraising & Development Manager will report directly to the MD and Board of Trustees.
2. Providing leadership to and managing the fundraising team
- Develop, coach, inspire, and motivate the team to achieve their objectives and grow their skills.
- Conduct regular one-to-ones with direct reports, ensuring effective performance management with timely appraisals.
- Ensure team members have clear work plans and objectives.
- Champion best practices in particular with use of the database, ensuring all legal and compliance standards are met and, where possible, exceeded in fundraising and marketing activities.
- Recruit key fundraising team members as needed.
- Support the fundraising team in designing and managing effective marketing and communications strategies.
- Facilitate effective internal and external communication, sharing information, successes, and best practices.
3. Growing income streams
- Lead and manage all fundraising areas in the UK office, ensuring targets are met.
- Develop and manage comprehensive budgets, providing performance information to the Senior Management Team and Trustees.
- Ensure effective management of the donor journey for all contacts.
- Research and develop business cases for new income generation areas to drive sustainability.
- Implement and evaluate new income generation projects.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with significant supporters, making effective asks to maximize income.
- Adhere to best practices and embed a culture of learning within the organization.
- Develop and implement a strategy to increase corporate fundraising through the Temwa Carbon Balance Programme.
- Grow and develop SME and corporate partnerships with support from the Managing Director and Fundraising Trustee.
- Develop and implement a strategy to increase corporate funding, individual giving, institutional funding and trust & foundation funding.
- Lead on all grant applications, including trust & foundation and institutional.
- Manage individual giving campaigns and online activities with support from the fundraising team.
- Source individual stories and images, brief internal and external teams, and write copy as needed.
- Ensure adherence to the individual giving strategy to increase income in this area. ?
4. Senior management
- Collaborate with the management team to reach key audiences and achieve strategic goals.
- Provide strategic direction for fundraising and communications, nurturing team members to develop their skills.
- Ensure all parts of the organization understand income generation and fundraising.
- Represent the charity externally.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues and Trustees.
- Play an active role in updating the organization’s strategic plan and shaping the charity's future direction.
· Serve as the deputy to the Managing Director when the MD is in Malawi or on annual leave.
5. Policies and procedures
- Develop and improve relevant policies for the organization.

Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements:
The ideal applicant would have the following attributes
· Experience of working in a senior fundraising role
· Certificate or diploma from the Institue of Fundraising or similar
· Track record of setting and achieving fundraising income targets
· Experience of managing people
· Experience of working within small and large NGOs or charities
· Ability to write compelling bids/business cases and reports

Main Purpose of Role
The Senior People and Culture Manager is a key member of the Charity’s management team. They will have responsibility for designing, constructing and implementing a People and Culture strategy to create a transparent, consistent and agile process for the entire employee journey. They will play a pivotal role in fostering a thriving, healthy and positive organisational culture to ensure our staff feel valued, engaged, and well equipped to deliver the highest standards of work. This role provides high-level operational delivery of our People function to build an organisational infrastructure that delivers against the strategic objectives of the organisation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- People Strategy: Work alongside the Chief of Staff to develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy that aligns with our mission and values and promotes equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
- Talent Acquisition: Oversee the recruitment process to identify innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of our hiring to attract and retain talented individuals who align with the Charity's core values.
- Learning and Development: Implement learning and development programmes to ensure all staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively whilst promoting career advancement opportunities within the charity.
- Performance Management: Manage the performance review process, providing guidance to managers on performance improvement strategies and identifying opportunities for development.
- Policy Development: Develop and update HR policies and procedures in line with best practice and employment law.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to staff and management, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts at work, including grievance, capability, and disciplinary matters.

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
- A deep understanding of HR practices and principles.
- CIPD qualified (Level 5) or working towards a qualification. Proven experience in a similar HR generalist role, preferably within the charity sector.
- Experience of implementing a People and Culture strategy and monitoring and evaluating its success using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Understanding of the HR needs of a small/medium charity.
- Experience in implementing EDI principles and embedding them through policies and organisational practices.
- Familiarity with employment law.

About the role
The Programme Manager will work in the Centre for Ageing Better’s Homes team.
Currently, millions of older people are living in homes that are unsafe – cold, damp, mouldy or with other types of hazards. The Homes team run a series of innovation, research, peer-support and influencing projects, that all seek to ensure that no one lives in a home that endangers their health, wellbeing or financial security. We work across local and national government and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
The postholder would be responsible for collaborating with colleagues in the design, commissioning and delivery of a number of projects. The Programme Manager will use their creativity and experience to design work that has a clear route to impact, ensuring that everything we do has a traceable link back to the people we are trying to support.
The role will also require that effective programme management processes are followed to ensure effective, timely and impactful projects (e.g. milestone planning, budget management, risk, stakeholder engagement and delivery).
About you
You will be committed to trying to tackle the housing crisis, particularly for older people at risk of poverty, ill-health and facing discrimination. Knowledge of the current housing landscape and/or ageing issues would be an advantage but is not essential.
It is important that you can demonstrate excellent project management skills, designing and delivering projects that have a clear route to impact. Working collaboratively with others and experience writing and communicating complex ideas in an accessible way are essential.
You are likely to be overseeing projects that stimulate change at the local level through supporting service redesign processes, innovation practices and evaluation. Therefore, we are particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience working with organisations to adopt new practices or undertake service redesign, and/or who have commissioned or participated in evaluations.

About the role
This is a senior role working across the whole Charity, tasked with growing public awareness and support for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. Leading on marketing, PR, brand and design, this role will manage relations with media, stakeholders, supporters and the wider public, creating and delivering engaging campaigns, generating support for the Charity, demonstrating impact and increasing income generation.
This is an exciting time to join the Charity as it moves to the next stage in its growth. As part of a busy and ambitious team, this role would suit an experienced, proactive and creative individual with a talent for storytelling and a knowledge of data-driven marketing.
You’ll have strong commercial knowledge, with the ability to apply this to the Charity sector; adding value to our existing fundraising activities and impact reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Create and deliver a comprehensive marketing & public relations strategy for the Charity to increase levels of awareness, reaching and engaging audiences.
- Build brand awareness, promote income generation and communicate activities and impact.
- Identify, create and maximise press, PR and marketing opportunities for the Charity to achieve strong positive coverage in print, broadcast and online media.
- Utilise the full mix of communications and marketing tools, including media and public relations, internal communications, brand marketing, advertising, campaigns, direct marketing, digital and social media and production of materials
- Lead and give strategic marketing direction to the charity team, taking responsibility for all marketing activities within the charity to ensure consistent messaging
- Identify and develop key relationships with journalists and influencers across a broad range of media
- Lead, manage and plan key Charity marketing and communications initiatives such as the annual Glow Green Night Walk and Annual Ball.
- Be responsible for brand management, ensuring consistency across all internal and external communications and adherence to brand and corporate identity guidelines.
- Oversee the design, production and dissemination of marketing and communications collateral, as required including annual reports and impact statements.

The Role
As our Policy Officer you will use the latest evidence and insight to drive the creation of policies and position statements and related key messages. The subject of these will be informed by the charity’s strategy as well as our priority setting processes but will largely be focused around:

Prevention - Reducing smoking rates particularly focusing on people who are already interacting with the health system, as well as other messaging around reducing risk of cancer.

Diagnosis - Improving the early diagnosis of cancer through promoting existing and new pathways for cancer diagnosis.

Treatment - Improving treatments available to patients across Yorkshire and improving access to clinical trials.
Specifically, you will:
Policy development

Work with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to research and produce high quality, evidence-based cancer-related policies and position statements.

Work with relevant internal teams to create key messages for a range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring these are in line with the latest evidence.

Ensure existing policies and position statements are kept up to date, taking ownership for these updates when new evidence is published.
Influencing

Develop written policy materials and reports to aid influencing, considering priorities identified by PPI groups, the NHS, and coupled with insights from the latest data.

Support the charity’s response to regional and national consultations relevant to cancer in Yorkshire, ensuring responses are clear, succinct and evidence-based.

About Fundraising at CARAS
CARAS offers holistic early-action support to refugees and people seeking asylum, ensuring individuals have the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive in the UK. Founded in 2008, we have co-created our thriving adult and youth services in partnership with CARAS community members over the last 16 years and now run a thriving weekly provision of social and educational programming delivered alongside wrap-around casework support.

Ygam is seeking an Insight and Innovation Officer to join our Insight and Innovation team. The post holder will work with the Head of Insight and Innovation, supporting with research, knowledge translation, evaluations and insights into children and young people’s experiences of gaming and gambling harms.
Our Insight & Innovation team aids the design and delivery of Ygam’s strategy by supporting evidence-based decision making. · Support the commissioning and managing of research activities and collaborations.

The Role
As our Individual Giving Officer, you will help to develop and implement the charity’s individual giving strategy.
Supporting the Individual Giving Manager, you will be the main point of contact and manage the day-to-day relationships with external face-to-face fundraising partners, who represent Yorkshire Cancer Research at private sites (e.g. supermarkets) and by going door-to-door to raise awareness of the work of the charity and encourage individuals to make regular gifts. You will be involved in all aspects of building and maintaining fundraising partner relationships.
Specifically, you will:
Support the charity’s face-to-face fundraising activities:

Work with the Marketing Team and face-to-face partners to build a range of marketing propositions that create memorable conversations and increase the likelihood of individuals deciding to sign up to give a regular donation.

Co-ordinate and facilitate training and engagement activity for new and current face-to-face fundraisers to keep them informed of and inspired by the latest developments at the charity.

Ensure face-to-face fundraisers have appropriate collateral and that all equipment and materials are kept up to date and are engaging for potential supporters.

Work with the Individual Giving Manager and Supporter Engagement Team to develop and implement supporter journeys from beginning to end for newly acquired regular donors and other key supporter groups, aiming to increase levels of affinity with the charity and encourage life-time commitment.

In conjunction with the Supporter Engagement Team, regularly review fulfilment communications to all our individual giving supporters, ensuring they are compelling, accurate and fit for purpose.
Be responsible for data management and reporting:

We are seeking a talented and ambitious Communications and Business Development Manager to join our senior management team and play a pivotal role in driving our strategic objectives in communications, impact measurement, marketing, and fundraising.
Working with our Head of Healthier and Stronger Communities, you will develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to enhance our brand awareness and stakeholder engagement; support our wider business development by researching and attracting funds from charitable trusts, foundations, and various funding bodies, ensuring the growth and sustainability of our work; and work with our senior management team to monitor and evaluate the impact of our programmes, effectively communicating outcomes to stakeholders.
First and foremost, we are looking for an ambitious and competent professional who is: passionate, self-starter and strategic in their thinking yet pragmatic in delivery; experienced in communications and income generation; understands impact measurement; has strong people skills, is a confident communicator and has the ability to write compelling narratives; and is excellent at problem solving.

We are looking for an experienced in-house Recruitment professional to deliver an exceptional resourcing service to our internal stakeholders, hiring managers, candidates and staff utilising credible expertise and knowledge to guide and partner managers on the full recruitment cycle.
Using your specialist recruitment knowledge, you will utilise a range of effective candidate attraction methods for different roles at the RHN. Quick at building strong relationships, you will be a key point of contact to our stakeholders and recruiting managers, offering advice and expertise to support their recruitment campaigns. With a passion for customer service, you will communicate confidently and effectively with candidates, ensuring a positive recruitment onboarding and retention experience.
You will line manage a Recruitment Assistant and work closely with the HR Business Partner for Resourcing & Retention to engage the Recruitment Team to deliver objectives and operate a highly effective and efficient customer-focussed Recruitment service.
You will support the HR Business Partner for Resourcing & Retention with identifying and delivering on Resourcing & Retention projects that add value to the recruitment process and achieve our aims within the People Strategy.
To succeed in this role, it is essential that you have worked in a fast based resourcing role previously, preferably within a healthcare setting. You must have experience of a range of candidate attraction techniques and be able to think creatively to support hard to fill recruitment campaigns. You should have experience of ATS’ and recruitment systems, optimising them to full functionality and providing solutions to any issues.

The team provides a customer-focussed recruitment service using creative attraction methods to directly source applicants to the RHN and deliver a positive onboarding experience to candidates.
