Job Profile

The role of the Major Gifts and Philanthropy (MGP) Team Research and Information Manager is a unique role within the sector and CAFOD. Working across MGP (which is made up of Major Donors and Corporate teams) as well as others, such as the Trusts and Foundations Team, it has been developed to meet the growing needs of planning and reporting across MGP and to ensure income growth is focused on raising the funds needed to achieve short and long term organisation priorities.

A pivotal role, the post-holder will hold lead expertise in philanthropy communications at CAFOD, working with other stakeholders to identify funding priorities so MGP can achieve an income forecast of nearly £3.17m in 2024/25.

Managing the Research and Information Executive, the post-holder will make sure that concept notes, proposals and reports are written for the most strategic work, and that MGP relationship managers are informed of projects in need of funding. With oversight of all team donor proposals, reporting and communications, you will ensure they align with CAFOD’s values, especially promoting anti-racist messages in line with our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation. 

The post-holder will share key donor trends and work closely with the Philanthropy Manager and Corporate Partnerships Manager to understand their research needs and develop a research strategy. Alongside the Research and Information Executive, you will complete research into top-level prospects and donors. 

This post sits in the MGP team, which is part of the Fundraising and Participation Group. As MGP’s information and prospect research expert, you will work with the Executive team, International Programmes, Integrated Fundraising and Business Innovation team, Data and Insight, Communications and Finance teams as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic leadership of MGP’s funding portfolio & engagement 

• Lead on the implementation of MGP’s funding strategy, maintaining a funding proposal pipeline and tracking where funds have been secured for projects, so it sits as a centre of excellence across CAFOD

• Oversee donor communications for the team, including appeals and cases for support for CAFOD’s most strategic work: unrestricted, and our humanitarian funding initiative, Every Second Counts; ensuring communications comply with anti-racist communication and fundraising principles 

• Build strong relationships with International Programmes staff and facilitate meetings for them to share strategic work with MGP team 

• Identify and influence change, especially relating to donor systems and processes 

• Work with Country teams to source relevant information and write funding proposals and reports for donors

• Mentor MGP relationship managers ensuring they can write their funding materials with success 

• Work with the Head of MGP to continually improve MGP systems and processes, and adapt them where necessary 

Lead prospect and donor research 

• Use expertise to research and evaluate information on donors and prospective donors, focusing on high-value supporters 

• Working with the team leads, identify their research needs and develop and implement a prospect research strategy that meets these 

• Identify key trends relevant to the MGP team - collating and analyse internal and external donor trends and reports and sharing them with the team 

• Work with the Head of MGP and the senior International Programme (IP) team to develop new multi-year initiatives and feasibility/ scoping studies

• Alongside the Philanthropy Manager have an overview of MGP’s supporter Ethical Checks Policy and support ethical checks and policy compliance as needed

• Work across the team to maintain donor profiles, train and guide the team members in writing their profiles, briefing notes and event profiles 

• Work with team leads and external research agencies for profiling and wealth screening audits. 

 Information Management  

• Maintain donor contact details in compliance with GDPR, data protection legislation and fundraising best practices 

• Have an overview of all MGP requests to CAFOD’s Data and Insight team and assist as required in gathering internal donor trends and reports 

• Work with the team to manage systems and records and update information on high-priority donors as required. 

 Budget & Planning 

• Participate in MGP planning and budget activities 

• Analyse income-related reports and share them with the Head of MGP

• Benchmark, monitor, draw upon and share best practices with MGP

 People Management    

• Line Manage, develop and support the Research & Information Executive by championing our purpose and values through building strong and safe working relationships, setting SMART objectives and conducting performance reviews

Job-specific competencies

• Proven experience in writing donor proposals and securing funds for significant donations from Major Donors and corporates.

• Specialist prospect research skills and an understanding of the methodologies and research resources required to carry out research.

• Clear and accurate written and verbal communication skills to influence senior staff.

• Ability to translate complex information into engaging donor communications and reports 

• Experience of developing strategies in line with organisational priorities.

Desirable Criteria: Knowledge and awareness of international development and humanitarian aid

We are seeking  an Information and Advice Manager who will develop, manage and be responsible for effective delivery of the service.

About the Service
Age UK Ealing information and Advice Services is one of the most important services the organisation provides, enabling and supporting older people in Ealing to live healthy and independent lives.

The service provides a helpline 9.30 am to 4.30 pm 5 days a week providing information advice and guidance to older people, their families, their carers, adult carers and people with long term health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities in this role include:

• Managing the team of the information and advice service
• Managing and maintaining a caseload of clients
• Ensuring the effective delivery of the service so that is meets targets and funder requirements
• Ensuring compliance with requirements of the relevant quality standards (QAS and IAQP)
• Managing network/liaison with other local key stakeholders and organisations

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with experience managing a quality assured Information and Advice service, including internal case reviews and Independent File Reviews.
You will have experiencing supervising and/or supporting staff to give quality advice or information to clients.
You will also have experience in Partnership working.
Ideally you will have experience working with very vulnerable people.

This role is office-based with some community activities in the borough of Ealing. The role is Monday to Friday 9.30am - 4.30pm.

The Role

Global Fund for Children is looking for a Senior Manager to join our global Marketing and Communications Team in an exciting new role. Your main responsibility is to help us collectively deliver inspiring, impactful engagement that builds our brand relevance with our target audiences.

This role will work to develop integrated and cross-discipline marketing and communications plans that promote our work and reputation.  You will collaborate with senior leadership and engage with key stakeholders, colleagues and partners around the world. You’ll create and implement strategies that elevate our profile, grow our key audiences and ensure our messaging resonates across all platforms.

You will be the strategic lead on our digital channels and are joining at a key moment of opportunity - we are launching a new website in October. We launched a new database and a new email system this summer and overhauled our look and feel as part of our 30th-anniversary activities earlier in 2024. You will lead on a new strand of work to develop our brand narrative, tone of voice and our key messages.

What will you be doing?

1. Provide overall strategic leadership across all our digital channels – website, email and social media to achieve engagement and growth goals across key audiences in line with our values and GFC’s safeguarding and safer communications policies.

2. Work collaboratively with your direct report to roll out digital plans to deliver our agreed strategy.

3. Lead the team on data, insight, and analysis of content across all channels to inform spending, resource and to deliver against objectives.

4. Working across the team, lead on editorial content decisions, engaging with key stakeholders, to deliver on strategic goals and KPIs.

5. Lead our new and growing Global Ambassador programme ensuring our current ambassadors are effectively stewarded and strong, positive relationships fostered.

6. Identify and build our pipeline of potential Global Ambassadors to achieve long-term strategic organisational goals.

7. Lead the development of insights and understanding of our key target audiences – donors, partners (community-based organisations who we fund and partner with), and the sector/our peers.

8. Line manage the Communications Officer (based in Spain) and provide leadership to a hybrid team across multiple time zones including:

8a) Providing coaching and regular feedback to direct report/s with a focus on goal setting and personal development.

8b) Contributing to the development of a strong values-based team culture across different countries, areas and streams of work

8c) Creating and/or facilitating space for regular training, learning, team building and development opportunities for team members

9. Work with the Senior Director on GFC’s events strategy and delivery.

10. Work with the Funder Safeguarding Collaborative (FSC)  Director and team as the lead on FSC marketing and communications.

11. Work proactively with your Senior Manager colleague based in the US daily to ensure smooth and successful ‘business as usual’ for the team globally.

12. Work proactively and collaboratively with the Senior Manager in the US to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the team, Senior Leadership and Board as required by the Senior Director of Marcomms or Vice President of Strategic Partnerships (DMC).

13. With colleagues in the Development team, work collaboratively and proactively to deliver contractual and opportunistic goals that add value and impact to our partnerships.

About you

Essential experience and skills

Our ideal Senior Manager in Marketing and Communications will:

1) Have significant proven experience working in a high-functioning, target-driven Marketing and Communications team, where you have a track record of success in meeting targets and objectives.

2) Have significant relevant experience in leading multiple functions within a marketing and communications setting, this can be in any setting but must include leadership of Digital as part of your experience. Could also include Brand Narrative and Copy; Celebrities and Influencers; Events or others relevant to the role.

3) Have significant, proven experience in setting up, leading, and executing digital strategies to achieve ambitious targets across multiple channels

4) Be an experienced, value-led people manager, with a passion for supporting and developing people to achieve their potential.

5) Have event management experience – be highly organised,  target and audience-focused, and be able to juggle multiple tasks, and stakeholders simultaneously.

6) Have experience working with high-profile, influential supporters to lead our Global Ambassador programme – Have the ability to identify prospects, and initiate and cultivate relationships.

7) Be creative, strategic and curious in order to lead and deliver our ambitious plans in service of our partners and our mission.

8) Be bold, resilient and fail fast as we challenge the status quo and continue pioneering new ways of philanthropy.

The Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People (CfD) is a registered small-sized charity that delivers a wide range of services including community development initiatives and assistive equipment services to people in Bristol who are Deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing. Our mission statement includes, we are working toward creating a Bristol “where everyone can participate in all aspects of life in the city, whatever their level of hearing”.

CfD challenges the prejudice and barriers that Deaf and hard of hearing people face in their daily lives. We are developing exciting new plans for activities that will contribute to our aims and promote equality for all deaf people. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team at CfD. This new outreach role will support the delivery of our community development work.

Summary of duties:

Our Community Outreach Worker will support the delivery of our new community development project: Connecting People into Communities, funded by Bristol City Council.

The role will include:

• Establishing drop-in sessions throughout Bristol for Deaf and hard of hearing people as a first contact point.

• Signposting/referring individuals to appropriate services and offering support with connecting people into communities – including the Deaf Community, hard of hearing peer support, and local community hubs.

• Providing information on activities and events occurring across Bristol and local hubs.

• Finding out what hard of hearing people in Bristol would like to see CfD offering.

• Strengthening our relationship with community organisations and other community based services, including those who support people from minority ethnic groups.

• Exploring how we can extend our work to reach more Deaf and hard of hearing people aged under 50.

• Developing content for our website so that it becomes a resource for organisations who want to improve their inclusion of Deaf and hard of hearing people.

The post holder will be a part of CfD’s Communities Team and will be expected to support the work of our other community projects i.e. our Deaf People Together and Community Hub projects. The post holder will be based at The Vassall Centre, Gill Avenue, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 2QQ.

The main responsibilities are to:

• To support the delivery of the Connecting People to Communities project so that it meets its aims by:

- Increasing our contact with organisations and hubs that work with minority ethnic groups throughout Bristol, particularly with those who support older people, and with organisations based in areas of deprivation.

- Working with community hubs (e.g. community centres, libraries etc) to provide regular CfD “drop-ins” – primarily as a first contact point and to alleviate isolation and loneliness.

- Signposting and referring individuals to appropriate services, and supporting individuals with connecting to communities.

- Providing advice and guidance to community hubs on how to make their venues, events and activities accessible to and inclusive of Deaf and hard of hearing people.

- Providing information on activities and events for Deaf and hard of hearing people across Bristol and local hubs.

- Finding out what hard of hearing people in Bristol would like to see CfD offering and what support they need.

• To support the work of our Communities Team by:

- Helping to run events so that local Deaf and hard of hearing people and communities have their say about how services are developed.

- Planning and attending project events e.g. coffee mornings, workshops etc.

- Developing positive relationships between service providers and Deaf and hard of hearing people, and advising providers on how to improve their services to become more accessible and inclusive.

- Supporting the Community Development Officer with collecting project monitoring and evaluation data e.g. equality monitoring data, case studies on the experiences of Deaf and hard of hearing people, and recording information on the database.

- Supporting the Community Development Officer with publicising our Small Community Grants scheme, and supporting existing groups with organising their events/activities.

- Working with the Community Development Officer to set up and facilitate Deaf-led advisory group(s).

• To provide content from project activities for CfD’s website and social media, such as information about activities and events.

• Be part of the team representing CfD at local events and exhibitions.

• Be flexible in your working hours. You may be asked to represent the project at meetings/events outside core working hours, or to complete any other duties that may be reasonably required for the performance of this position.

General

• Attend conferences, training, and other staff development opportunities.

• Develop an agreed personal training plan and carry this out using internal and external training as required.

Terms and conditions:

1. This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours a week. CfD’s core hours are 10am – 4pm. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

The Landscape

As we approach our 60th anniversary we have been going through a period of strategic and organisational development, expanding our ambitions to create and demonstrate impact, not just for the Fellows themselves but also at a local community and UK-wide level. The Role

The People & Culture Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the human resources function, ensuring that the organisation attracts, develops, and retains high-quality staff. This role  supports the Finance & Operations Director in fostering a positive and inclusive working culture, whilst ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development

• Support the development of TCF’s approach to effective methods of working and inclusive organisational culture, drawing upon best practice from across the sector and ensuring alignment with organisational values.

• Support the annual planning cycle, working with the Finance & Operations Director to develop and implement the annual and quarterly rhythm of team meetings, workshops and opportunities for team gatherings.

• Support the Finance & Operations Director through developing guidance for line managers to support the annual rhythm of 1:1 meetings and quarterly reviews supporting team members to meeting their operational objectives and personal development goals.

Employee Relations and HR Management

• Maintain elements of the employee database (BambooHR), to support staff with administrative requests relating to annual leave calculations, signing documentation and updating personal information.

• Develop onboarding processes to ensure new team members have the information they need to thrive in the organisation.

The Naval Children’s Charity provides financial and holistic support to children and families around the UK.  We work closely with other charities, have our own team of caseworkers and use an external Armed Forces group case management system CRM, as well as a bespoke internal CRM of our beneficiaries.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Caseworkers provide support and advice to eligible individuals in line with the policies of the Naval Children’s Charity.  They work closely with other organisations to ensure that children and families receive appropriate and prompt support.

· To act as the first point of contact for the Casework team and beneficiaries

· To complete an initial assessment of need by triaging telephone calls, emails and applications received through different CRMs used by the Charity

Overall purpose

The Head of Corporate Partnerships is a key leadership role within the Income and Engagement Directorate. Breaking Barriers’ relationship with corporate partners is the USP upon which our growth and success as an organisation has been built. The Head of Corporate Partnerships has accountability for generating income, impact and influence from the private sector, and for leading a high-performing team to achieve ambitious growth and scale for refugees around the UK.

As Breaking Barriers has grown from a start-up organisation to a now 60-strong team raising c. £4m and supporting more than 1,200 refugees annually, our corporate partnerships have expanded beyond our original London base to be nationwide partnerships with a wide range of businesses and employers. Our corporate partners have been crucial in enabling our growth and will be crucial to delivering upon the ambition of our 2030 goals. The Head of Corporate Partnerships is an essential role that will make this ambition a reality.

You will lead a team to deliver outstanding partnerships management of a range of strategic and multi-faceted relationships with a portfolio of c.50 businesses alongside leading strategy for business development. Leading by example you will own a number of our key relationships to drive growth, whilst bringing your experience to bear to coach your team and ensure structures and processes are in place to enable high performance.

Kineara has a new vacancy for an experienced Asylum and Refugee Housing Support Worker to join our small and dedicated team in this new project supporting recent granted refugees to find accommodation.

Asylum and Refugee Housing Support Practitioner

About the project  

Set up by the Southwark Community Refugee Forum, alongside Southwark local community and charity organisations. Kineara provides a weekly drop-in surgery at the St Giles Center giving support and advice to refugees struggling to find PRS due to many barriers, including language. In 2023 the collaboration was formed to respond to the increasing need for housing support to asylum seekers with newly granted refugee status after the Home office made changes to the way they process asylum seekers.   

After 9 months of delivery, we are excited to have secured funding to deliver this work fulltime alongside our PRS Renters Support Programme in Southwark. We will provide crucial crisis support to vulnerable renters and are looking for a passionate housing support worker to be part of the next phase of the project.

About the role  

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic support worker to take up a full-time role within our organisation as a Housing Support Practitioner in our small and dedicated team. The role will be based mostly in Southwark, and you will be working in partnership with the Council’s housing officers and resettlement workers, refugee support organisations, community services. The role involves coordinate tailored support for each client to find and sustain tenancies, mediating with landlords where necessary and providing housing advice. The objective of this programme is to support access to PRS properties, provide information about housing market and polices, help set up sustainable tenancies, increase employment opportunities, improve wellbeing, and increase educational outcomes. You will be working in partnership with other stakeholders, such as council and refugee support professionals to improve family health, build relationships and engage families and individuals and their networks of support.   

About you  

You will have experience of working with individuals with complex needs. You will be an enthusiastic person who is self-motivated, confident and thrives when working independently with a passion to support change. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience delivering holistic support, be a solution-minded thinker, have a good understanding of strength-based approaches and be able work sensitively and empathetically with people in vulnerable circumstances. You will also have experience working in a systemic and therapeutic way and ideally have trauma informed training or experience. It is also important to us that you have the competency to work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. To work as part of a team and independently, the roles require you to think creatively and use the resources around you effectively. The Accelerating Reform Fund is a new initiative which aims to transform social care services, making them more responsive to the needs of the community.  It is a national programme, with 42 regions allocated to have their own projects.  Greater Manchester is one of the ARF regions. 

The ARF has a particular focus on unpaid carers and will see hands-on support provided to delivery partners from the Social Care Institute for Excellence. Crucially, the ARF aims to boost short-term breaks for carers and improve hospital discharge processes. This work is made possible by Department for Health and Social Care grants.

Job Summary 

The Senior Project Manager will play a pivotal role as the key contact point for Gaddum’s infrastructure support of the GM system. They will work closely alongside our passionate and skilled Greater Manchester colleagues in this transformative journey, taking ownership for the achievement of key project milestones, and will ultimately ensure that the system has the oversight and awareness of risks in order to plan for successful deployment.

Job Purpose 

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will provide expert oversight and support across the ARF projects, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective delivery. The SPM will, as per their job title, project manage the infrastructure element of the entire GM programme. 

They will coordinate efforts across various sectors, manage stakeholder engagement, and be responsible for the integrated approach to risk management, data governance, and financial oversight. The role is accountable to Gaddum’s CEO, and will report to them.  It is central to ensuring the successful execution of the ARF's vision and objectives. 

Ultimately, the SPM’s goal is to support the system to achieve a consensus on what success looks like for the ARF in GM, and then work alongside the system to enable it to achieve it. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

• Project Management Expertise: Working to agreed methodologies, provide expert oversight, ensuring all ARF projects are coordinated and integrated effectively across different sectors, with a clear definition of success. 

• Stakeholder Identification and Engagement: Lead stakeholder mapping and engagement, involving adult social care, hospitals, respite providers, carers, and other system partners, adding capacity to pre-existing stakeholder mapping. 

• Collaboration: Facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and forums to coproduce strategies and solutions, ensuring robust involvement of lived experience in the programme. 

• Coproduction: Utilising pre-established coproduction and engagement programmes, ensure lived experience leadership principles are made available, and integrated, into the GM ARF consortium. 

• Oversight of Delivery: Monitor and manage project delivery, maintaining alignment with national evaluation frameworks, and leading on the coproduction approach. 

• Evaluation: Ensure the GM system reaches the ideal level of engagement to ensure regional and national evaluation programmes can properly assess the impact of the ARF across GM.  This will include working alongside the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) on a Theory of Change for the GM system, and working alongside the National Evaluation Panel. 

• Data Systems Integration: Lead the development and integration of data systems, ensuring real-time understanding of needs and outcomes across GM. Facilitate data exchange, ensuring alignment with national standards and compliance with data governance policies.  Act as main point of contact for a “Centralised Data Hub”, paying close attention to barriers and/or compliance requirements, such as interoperability and Information Governance. 

• Budget Management: Support Manchester City Council’s finance team to develop detailed budget plans and forecasts, reporting on the project budget, ensuring funds are allocated efficiently and effectively across all project components. 

• Internal partnerships:

• Working closely with Gaddum’s Head of Finance and the lead authority to ensure financial tracking, budget management, and reporting are aligned with project objectives. 

• Ensure seamless partnerships between the ARF system and Gaddum’s commissioned services, working closely with the Head of Operations. 

Other key tasks & responsibilities of the role 

• Line Management: Supervise the Project Administrator, ensuring they provide effective secretariat responsibilities for the consortium. 

• Risk Management: Keep stakeholders well-informed about risks, strategies, and progress.  With the consortium, co-design and manage risk register elements, providing rapid escalation of issues to the CEO and consortium, developing solutions where necessary. 

• Troubleshooting: Take all reasonable steps to enable system partners to identify barriers and develop solutions. 

• Continuous Improvement: Establish and maintain ongoing feedback loops, making necessary adjustments to the project’s approach based on stakeholder input and real-world outcomes. 

• Coordination of reporting: Work closely with SCIE and GM ARF stakeholders to ensure data integration and reporting, aligning regional data with national datasets and performance metrics. 

• Contracting and Compliance: Ensure adherence to contracting and compliance requirements, maintaining robust monitoring and reporting systems 

• Systems Change Facilitation: Lead on systems change initiatives, ensuring that all project components are aligned with the strategic goals and objectives of the ARF programme.
