About us
Who we are
Church Army is a mission-focused community of people who have been transforming lives and communities through the work of evangelists, staff and supporters since 1882. We support and empower those most in need in the UK and Ireland through partnership and collaboration which empowers lives and nurtures belonging.
We are currently involved with 34 centres of mission, working in partnership with local diocese which allowed over 140,000 people to connect with us in 2023 and we have doubled our frontline work over the last four years allowing us to reach more people than ever with the love of God. Each centre of mission of ours looks different as they are shaped entirely by the needs of their area which means that the activities, initiatives and outreach programs vary on the context which allows us to make a real difference we need to be part of communities, not just working in them. Through collaboration with these centres of mission and the local church we aim to empower and inspire individuals in their own evangelism and outreach which is done through our DARE strategy to help further fulfil our mission of empowering and transforming communities through faith shared in words and action. Working alongside some of the most deprived communities in the UK and Ireland we work with those who are homeless, lonely, experiencing self-harm, at risk of gang or knife crime, unemployed and those who are struggling financially. Here at Church Army, we are privileged to experience first-hand the positive influences and transitions that is brought by bringing Jesus into people’s lives.
Our culture and values
Everything we do is underpinned by our GRACEUP values:
Generous - We believe God is generous and we want to model that generosity to others.
Risk-taking - We have a long heritage as a pioneering movement, taking calculated risks and giving our staff permission to try new things.
Accountable – We are accountable to God and others, and we want to be reliable and responsible to high professional standards.
Collaborative - We are committed to partnering with others who share our values; we believe collaboration enhances the potential and outcomes of our work.
Expectant - We are hopeful, expecting God to do new things through our frontline work and the Church Army community.
Unconditional – We believe God loves everyone and every person is significant in His eyes. We serve anyone regardless of their age, gender, race, sexuality, faith, ability, status or circumstances.
Prayerful - We listen to God through prayer, and we want to be obedient to Him. We want to be like Jesus in all we do.
