Choose Love is seeking a dynamic and highly organised Project Coordinator to lead the establishment and operation of a Refugee Youth Leadership Council. This council will empower refugee youth by amplifying their voices, fostering leadership, and driving meaningful change within refugee communities and beyond. This will be a fixed-term consultant contract for two years, and the successful candidate must be flexible to commence employment immediately.

Who are we? RAIS (Refugee Advocacy, Information, and Support) Lancaster is a small but mighty charity, founded in 2017 and based in the heart of Lancaster, working hard to support the hundreds of asylum seekers and refugees living in our area. Recently we were granted a significant grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, enabling us to add another staff member to our team. 

RAIS is therefore looking for a competent person with a passion for supporting our clientbase to complete support work with refugees and run drop-ins.

The job entails welcoming clients, volunteers, and colleagues into our Lancaster-based office and various drop-in venues in Lancaster and Morecambe. Your work here will be front-facing plus ensuring that administrative needs are met. You will support access for refugees to find accommodation, health services and entitled benefits. The role will involve having appointments with refugees requiring longer-term support, reacting to enquiries, and running drop-ins with a team of volunteers, while ensuring confidentiality and record-keeping are maintained.

RAIS Lancaster offering a fixed contract part-time (16 hours per week) paid post as of 3rd February 2025. The post will be for one calendar year initially, dependent on future funding, and will be paid at £27,000 pro rata, equivalent to £14.03 per hour. Job-sharing (50/50 split) could be considered for the right candidates.

Mission of the role
To work in collaboration with the other Routes to Employment Project Manager to deliver
innovative pilot programmes based on our research findings from year one, culminating in a
7 year project proposal that has the potential to create systemic change for unemployment
of refugee women in London.
Structure and remuneration
● Days: 3 days per week (24 hours)
● Salary: £36,000 FTE, pro-rata to 3 days per week (yearly take home salary of
£21,600)
● Location: Two days in the office (Kennington), one day working from home. Our
current office days are Monday and Wednesday.

Key responsibilities
You will be responsible for leading this project alongside the other Project
Manager.
Delivery
● Collaborate with Routes to Employment Project Manager to design and deliver an
apprenticeship programme creating new pathways to work for refugee and asylum
seeking women in London, aiming to have women start apprenticeships in September
2025
● Collaborate with Routes to Employment Project Manager to design and pilot
additional support alongside the apprenticeship programme, based on the findings of
the research conducted in year one
● Create and manage a project management tool, setting realistic KPIs that will meet
the intended outcome of the project
● Build and manage partnerships with employers and other stakeholders as necessary
to deliver the pilot project
● Design and deliver employment support workshops for women interested in applying
for apprenticeships

● Support employers participating in the pilot to create refugee friendly workplaces
● Respond to ongoing changes of the project design, based on continued learning as
the pilot is delivered

● Design creative methods to share the knowledge gained from ongoing delivery with
sector partners and businesses, to ensure the impact of the project is widespread

● Contribute to the creation of a 7 year delivery proposal, based on the learnings from
the pilot

The Advice Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Advice Service and for managing and developing the team of Advice Workers, including the Senior Advice Worker who leads on delivery.

The service operates predominantly from our Ipswich office, but the Advice Service Manager is also responsible for organising outreach services for asylum seekers and refugees elsewhere in Suffolk. Along with the Senior Advice Worker, they provide expert guidance to the team, as well as to other professionals working with refugees and asylum seekers.

The Advice Service Manager is part of the Management Team and plays a role in overseeing the function of the organisation and its strategic development, especially in relation to SRS’s Advice Service. They are also responsible for developing the Advice Service according to client/organisational needs and strategy.

The successful applicant will be required to have an enhanced DBS check to be carried out upon commencement of employment. You must be eligible to work in the UK.

Refugees into Jobs (RiJ) Service

People who are recognised as refugees in the UK face a number of obstacles on their way to full inclusion into the British society. One of the main one is the ability to access meaningful employment. This is where Refugees into Jobs Service comes in. It was founded in 1995 as an independent charity, and merged with Refugee Council in 2011. Ever since it has been helping hundreds of refugees every year to fulfil their dream and find work that has meaning and helps them feel even more included into their new country.

Refugee Council has an ambitious goal that by 2033, 60% of refugees entering the UK will be able to access meaningful employment within 5 years of gaining the right to work. What constitutes “meaningful” is defined by each individual client.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Partnership Management and Development

• To oversee and help develop the refugee health professionals programme partnership (Building Bridges) which is funded by NHS England in Greater London, ensuring that the project is developed and delivered innovatively, effectively and efficiently.

Client Casework

• To develop ways of actively involving clients with lived experience into the project design and delivery.

Volunteer Management

• To provide the necessary support to volunteers in line with the organisational policies and with the advice from the Volunteer Co-ordinator.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Project Coordinator to lead the Play, Learn and Thrive Project (PLTP). This role involves organising engaging activities for children, young people, and families, including workshops, language support sessions, and outdoor events. Play, Learn and Thrive Project (PLTP) will offer a variety of activities for children and young people in Cardiff, including:

• Activity sessions for pre-school children (under 5 years): Focused on outdoor play, and access to community-based spaces and facilities.
• Family activity sessions and workshops: Interactive sessions on topics like digital safety, nutrition, health literacy, and local resources.
• English language support classes (ESOL) for young people: Focused on conversational skills and building confidence.
• Youth activity sessions: Providing social opportunities, skill-building, teamwork, and group activities for older children.

Overall purpose:

The main purpose of the Senior Partnerships Manager role is to lead on the delivery of first-class account management and development of corporate partnerships that maximise impact and income for Breaking Barriers. The role has line management responsibility to Partnership Managers who are responsible for the delivery of their portfolios and projects to drive the team’s strategy. 

Working closely with the Director of Income & Engagement, Head of Corporate Partnerships, and other Senior Fundraisers, you will be responsible for launching and retaining partnerships, deepening relationships and identifying opportunities for growth. This will include the planning, testing and implementation of new corporate partnership ideas and initiatives to help Breaking Barriers in its mission.

The successful candidate will have experience managing and/or securing complex five and six figure partnerships and a proven record achieving significant account growth and retention targets. You will deploy your influencing skills and ability to build profitable relationships to great effect as you take a leading role identifying and nurturing future strategic partnerships. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have line management experience and the ability to develop talent within the team. An understanding of the HR & Talent Development and/or CSR spaces would be advantageous.

• Work with the Head of Corporate Partnerships and other Senior Managers to ensure the successful delivery and continued growth of our corporate partnerships and business development strategies at Breaking Barriers

The Executive Director is a new role for RLS. Are you highly organised, resourceful, and passionate about making a difference? The Baobab Centre is seeking an Operations and Admin Assistant to support our vital work with young asylum seekers and refugees.

In this varied role, you’ll work closely with the Operations Manager and admin team to ensure the smooth running of our Centre by managing administrative tasks, assisting with IT and communications, and supporting operations and fundraising initiatives. You’ll also play a part in amplifying the voices of our community through social media and helping with community engagement activites.

The Baobab Centre is a non-residential therapeutic community that supports young asylum seekers and refugees who have experienced human rights abuses and have sought asylum in the UK as unaccompanied minors. Our two focus areas are rehabilitation and justice.

Mental Health:  All of the young people Baobab supports suffer significant mental health and developmental difficulties and many function in an unstable and more immature way than their chronological age. Due to their experiences it takes time to gain trust from the young people in our community. As a core member of our team, you will understand the impact of specific human rights abuses on the development of children and young people in exile and their individual experiences of loss, trauma and grief on their mental health and well-being.

Job title: Employment and Engagement Adviser

Location: Hybrid, contracted to work at our Birmingham office at least 2 days a week.

Salary: £26,000 - £29,000

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evening/weekend work (TOIL provided)

Contract: 12 months FTC, with intention to make permanent if pilot is successful/subject to funding

Language requirements: Fluency in English and at least one target language is desirable e.g., Arabic, Tigrinya, Ukrainian, Pashto, Farsi, Dari or Cantonese.

Overall purpose

We are excited to pilot a new type of Employment Adviser role in our Services team, focusing on building relationships with local employers to support our job-ready clients in securing employment.

You will build networks of local employers and collaborate with our Employment Advisers to help clients with intensive job searches and applications, while managing your own caseload of work-ready clients.

We are seeking candidates with experience in engaging employers and knowledge of the local job market, including finding hidden opportunities.

The primary focus of your role will be helping individuals facing employment barriers, especially those who have experienced forced migration, find paid work. You will manage a fast-paced caseload, providing one-on-one support to clients online, by phone and in person to help them reach their employment goals.

In addition to direct client work, you will assist the team in identifying job opportunities and work with the Senior Services Manager to develop key employer relationships. You will also coordinate your clients access to volunteer-led support, scheduling mock interviews and practice sessions.

Overall Purpose

• To provide support and care to young people who are newly arrived in the country, providing the foundations for them to rebuild their strength, dignity and grow their hope for their futures.
• To partner with social workers and representatives from other agencies, for the benefit of the young people.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To be a key worker for a number of young people who are in the care of Baca, providing high quality holistic and therapeutic support for their transition to adulthood.
• To deliver young people services in line with Baca’s Theory of Change, to enable young people to achieve the following outcomes, ensuring it is of the highest quality:
• Improved Physical Wellbeing
• Improved Emotional Wellbeing
• Increased engagement with Education, Employment and Training
• Increased Social engagement
• Increased Personal Safety
• To work proactively and collaboratively to ensure all young people are safeguarded and taking the initiative in resolving any issues that may arise with young people.
• To be a role model to all young people in Baca’s care, providing care and compassion without discrimination of age, race, colour or behavioural issues.
• Support young people to understand expectations of them and the support on offer to them from Baca and other agencies.
• Support young people in developing essential life skills in line with the individual support plan to prepare them for independent living. Training young people in living skills such as washing, cleaning, cooking and safety food shopping and budgeting; proactively and intentionally in line with the Baca progress plan.
• Support young people in developing their skills and interests in education, vocation or hobbies. Ensure young people’s interests, hobbies and aspirations are identified by getting alongside young people and working with the team.
• Be an active part of a diverse environment of staff and young people from different cultures and backgrounds.
• Support young people to engage socially at Baca and in the wider community to build positive trusting relationships with others through one to one and group social times, engaging in clubs and activities.
• Take part in planning and attending day trips and Baca’s annual residential week.
• Develop excellent working partnerships with social workers, solicitors, teachers, volunteers and other partners to provide a holistic development package for each young person enabling them to become independent.
• Actively plan, prepare and participate in all meetings and events that are related to the support of the young people.
• Prepare young people for meetings and help them to understand what is being communicated.
• Transport young people, in line with our lone working policy, to events and meetings making sure they are on time using your own car in a safe and legal manner.
• Support young people to communicate and express their own wishes and voice regarding all aspects of their life and future.

• Keep good records and carry out all administrative work required as part of the role, such as month end reports and support plans, on time and in a consistent manner.

Personal specification

Baca is looking for a Support Worker who can join the support team and provide support, care and be a role model for young people who are newly arrived refugees and victims of trafficking aged 16 to 18. They will be motivated and passionate about the work that Baca does and the young people in our care.

The successful applicant will have the ability to ensure the support we give to the young people is of the highest quality and goes beyond the statutory standards set. They will be very approachable, reliable and a strong team worker. Someone who is supportive, approachable, responsible, reliable, personable and willing to be flexible. They will be a great people person who can develop key external relationships. They will also be a very organised and proactive individual. The successful applicant will need access to transport as the role requires visiting the young people in their homes and attending different appointments/meetings across the midlands. The successful applicant will subscribe to and work in line with Baca’s vision and values.

The role will require the successful candidate to complete an enhanced DBS check.
